Mr. Fred Keton, 88, of Swifton died Friday, August 6, 2010. He was born May 29, 1922 at Swifton, the son of Bert and Minnie Mae (Worsham) Keton. Mr. Keton was a farmer and a member of the Church of Christ. He was a United States Army Air Corp veteran, serving in World War II, and was a member of the Masonic Lodge at Alicia. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Mr. Keton was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Buster Keton; and One sister, Elsie Welch. He is survived by his wife, Wilda (Hayden) Keton; two sons, Taylor Keton and wife Jeanie of Jonesboro and Fred “Butch” Keton and wife Beckie of Swifton; two daughters, Peggy Alexander of Jonesboro and Erma Bailey and husband Paul of Cabot; one brother, Willis Keton of Virginia Beach, Virginia; one sister, Marie Gardner of Texas; ten grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are 10:00 a.m. Monday at the Swifton Church of Christ. Interment will be in Arnold Cemetery. Visitation is Sunday, 5:00-7:00 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Garland Shophner, Gary Worthington, J.Q. Harvey, Raymond Church, Tim Higgins, and Leboyd Duncan. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandsons.

Mr. Leon K. Elder, Jr., 65, of Jacksonville, Arkansas died Thursday. He was born August 30, 1944 at Tuckerman, the son of Leon, Sr., and Annie Maye (Parrott) Elder. Mr. Elder was a United States Air Force retiree, serving during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed reading. He was preceded in death by his parents. Mr. Elder is survived by one son, Kenneth Elder of Nashville, Georgia; two daughter, Buffy Elder of North Bay, New York and Sherry Barrett of Tifton, Georgia; one brother, James Elder of Tuckerman, Arkansas; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. The will be no formal funeral services.

Mrs. Della Pauline McAdams Gressel, 82, of Cave City, Arkansas died Friday, August 13, 2010. She was born July 9, 1928 at Floral, Arkansas the daughter of William and Ella (Garrutte) Sample. She had married Mr. Vernon “Boots” Gressel on March 20, 2004. Mrs. Gressel was a homemaker, and a member of the Hillcrest Baptist Church of Cave City. She loved singing and playing the piano, and spending time with her family. Mrs. Gressel also enjoyed gardening, flowers, and bird watching. She was preceded in death by one son, Ronald Lynn McAdams; four brothers, Lacy Sample, Lynn Sample, Harry Sample, and Vinis Sample; and four sisters, Retha Pate, Ruby Ludgate, Lorraine James, and Ethel Hunt. Mrs. Gressel is survived by her husband, Vernon K. “Boots” Gressel; four sons, Jim McAdams of Thida, Bill McAdams and wife Betty of Bradford, Tom McAdams and Mae of Jonesboro, and Harry McAdams of Sacramento, California; three daughters, Paulette Qualls and husband Jim of Caldwell, Texas, Meta Cunningham and husband Donnie of Saffell, and Rita McAdams and Rick of Memphis, Tennessee; two step-daughters, Kathy Millican and husband Glenn of Austin, Texas and Sharon Chapman and husband Al of Mississippi; two step-sons, Mark Gressel and wife Glenda of Memphis and Tim Gressel and wife Carole of South Haven, Mississippi; two brothers, Tom Sample of Kokomo, Indiana and Cole Sample and wife Viola of Southside; one sister, Myrrine Moore of Nixa, Missouri; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; thirty-nine nieces and nephews; and numerous great-nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Ruth Alice Crumpton, 87, of Newport, formerly of Newark, died Sunday, August 15, 2010. She was born March 21, 1923 at Jackson County, the daughter of Clarence and Deaily Elizabeth (Wilson) Reeves. Mrs. Crumpton was a homemaker, and a member of the Church of Christ. She enjoyed collecting dolls. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jud Clifford Cumpton; one son, Billy Jud Crumpton; and her parents. Mrs. Crumpton is survived by one son, Jay Clifford Crumpton and wife Barbara of Newark; two daughters, Barbara Ann French of Newport and Ruth Anna Holt and husband Earl of Mayflower; eight grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Jackson’s Newport Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be in Dowell’s Chapel Cemetery. Visitation is Tuesday, 5:00-7:00 p.m.

Mr. Harold Herbert Ploch, 85, of Newport died Sunday, August 15, 2010 at Little Rock. He was born February 19, 1925 at Clifton, New Jersey. He married Miss Mary Alice Stacy on August 15, 1970. Mr. Ploch was a retired truck driver, and a member of the New Jersey Retirement Club Local 560. He was a United States Army veteran, serving in World War II, and enjoyed hunting, gardening, and visiting auctions and flea markets. Mr. Ploch was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Eleanor Posthumus. He is survived by his wife of forty years, Mary Alice (Stacy) Ploch; one son, Robert Harold Ploch and wife Jan of Kentucky; three daughters, Diana Schmidt of Florida, Judy McPherson and husband Dell of South Carolina, and Jeannie Patti of New Jersey; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Graveside services are 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Remmel-McCall Cemetery. Visitation is Tuesday, 6:30-8:00 p.m.

Mr. H.B. “Pudge” Pearle, 89, of Beedeville died Tuesday, August 17, 2010, a victim of a car accident. He was born March 1, 1921 at Old Austin, Arkansas, to Horace Berry and Mary Emma (Holt) Pearle. He is survived by his wife of sixty-five years, Ermyl Elaine (McFadden) Pearle; one son, Kenneth Pearle of Beedeville; five daughters, Sandy Gaskin and husband Bart of Beedeville; Lynda Sampson of Newport; Vicky Daughety of McCrory; Jan Reynolds and husband Steve of Trumann; and Christine Lynxwiler and husband Kevin of Highland; one brother, Jack Pearle of Jacksonville; one sister, Lucille Harris of Conway; eight grandchildren, Jeremy Sampson and wife Crystal of Newport; Jeff Sampson and wife Lauren of Newport; Annalisa Daughety of Memphis; Jacob Reynolds and wife Diana of Jonesboro; Megan Reynolds of Conway; Jessa Gaskin of Beedeville; and Kristianna and Kaleigh Lynxwiler of Highland; three great-grandchildren, Jack, Luke and Ally Sampson of Newport; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mr. Pearle was preceded in death by his parents, H.B. and Mary Emma (Holt) Pearle; four brothers, Raymond, Troy, Fred, and Owen Pearle; two sisters, Lola Pearle and Mae Luker; and one grandson, Michael Sampson. Mr. Pearle was an active member of Beedeville Church of Christ and rarely missed a service. Mr. Pearle lived a full and active life. He was an athlete during his high school career at Cabot, and was known for setting several records. After graduating from Cabot High School in 1940, he attended college at Arkansas A&M in Monticello on a football scholarship. He enjoyed his time playing for the Wandering Weevils. The team traveled all over the United States and was featured in Collier’s Weekly, a national magazine. His love of sports continued throughout his adult life, and he enjoyed playing and coaching a variety of sports including baseball, softball, and basketball. He was also a devoted Razorback fan and was looking forward to the upcoming football season. In addition to his athletic prowess, Mr. Pearle was also an avid outdoorsman. He was known for miles around for his outstanding hunting abilities. He passed his love of the outdoors on to his children and grandchildren, teaching them to hunt, fish, and shoot. He was past president of the Jackson County Wildlife Association and one of his greatest honors was being inducted into the Arkansas Coon Hunters Hall of Fame. In earlier years, Mr. Pearle wrote for the Full Cry, a national magazine for coon hunting aficionados. More recently, his wildlife columns appeared in local newspapers. He enjoyed sharing hunting stories and mentoring a younger generation of sportsmen. Mr. Pearle was an Army veteran and a retired farmer. He was very active in his community and served for a time as president of Beedeville Lion’s Club. He was a renowned conservationist and traveled to Washington D.C. to speak to a senate sub-committee supporting the dredging of Cache River. He continued to be passionate about conservation throughout his life. After his retirement, Mr. Pearle continued to be active, enjoying time with his family and many friends. He was a daily fixture for morning coffee at the Beedeville Fire Station and BP in McCrory. Mr. Pearle was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. His family was his pride and joy. His children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were frequent visitors to his house. He and his wife, Ermyl, were happiest when their home was full of loved ones. He looked forward to monthly dinners with the extended Pearle family.
Funeral services are 4:00 p.m. Saturday at Beedeville Church of Christ with Dr. Gary Elliott officiating. Interment will be in Eightmile Cemetery. Visitation is Friday from 5 – 8 p.m. at Jackson’s Newport Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Jeremy Sampson, Jeff Sampson, Dale Gaskin, Tony Hanley, John Taylor and Neal Stocks. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Ballard,Dennis Branam, Jesse Simmons, the men of the Beedeville Church of Christ, his friends at the Beedeville Fire Station and BP in McCrory.

Mr. Hosea Lee Madison, 90, of Newport died Monday, August 23, 2010. He was born November 22, 1919 at Alicia, Arkansas, the son of Edward Franklin and Lorena Mae (Crisp) Madison. Mr. Madison was retired from Dr. Pepper Company, and a member of the Assembly of God. He loved music, and enjoyed singing and playing guitar. Mr. Madison was preceded in death by one infant daughter, Wilma Jean Madison; two sisters, Claudia Webb and Bertia Hembrey; and his parents. He is survived by his wife, Gladys Lavern (Pinkston) Madison; seven sons, Noel Madison of Augusta, Larry Madison of Monroe, Louisiana, Geary Madison of Las Vegas, Nevada, Danny Madison of Marion, Arkansas, Charles Madison of El Dorado, Arkansas, James Madison of Mt. Home, Arkansas, and Billy Madison of Newport; four daughters, Brenda Pace of Pocahontas, Arkansas, Barbara Scott of Mansfield, Missouri, Nina Bradshaw of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, and Diane Lumpkin of West Memphis; twenty-two grandchildren; and forty-four great-grandchildren.

Mr. William Thomas “Bill” Morris, 92, of Newport died Tuesday, August 24, 2010. He was born October 20, 1917 at Tupelo, the son of Thomas Alfred and Blanche (Oliver) Morris. Mr. Morris was a retired farmer, and a member of the Umsted Memorial United Methodist Church. He was a United States Army veteran, serving in World War II during 1941-1945. Mr. Morris served in Dutch Harbour and Japan. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Charles A. Morris; and one sister, Helen V. Morris. Mr. Morris is survived by one sister, Emogene Morris of Newport; one sister-in-law, Marcia Morris of Jackson, Tennessee; two nieces; three great-nieces; and two great-great nephews.
Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday at Walnut Grove Cemetery.

Mr. Toby Burrow

Mr. Toby Burrow, 39, of Bradford died Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at Little Rock. He was born October 18, 1970 at Dyersburg, Tennessee, the son of Clyde Wayne and Ora May (Lewis) Burrow. Mr. Burrow was a member of the Church of Christ. Never expected to survive childhood, he fought Cystic Fibrosis for thirty-nine years, and was the poster child for the National Cystic Fibrosis Foundation from 1973-1977. Mr. Burrow enjoyed and lived his life to the fullest, living three lives in one. He survived several automobile accidents, and a double lung transplant. He made a friend of everyone he met, and had a great spirit. Mr. Burrow enjoyed traveling the world, having been to Mexico, Hawaii, California, Texas, Wyoming, and Florida. He was a skilled hunter and a skilled marksman. He enjoyed shooting guns, riding four-wheelers, collecting knives, driving his prowler, fishing, and weight lifting. Mr. Burrow was preceded in death by his father, Clyde Wayne Burrow. He is survived by his mother, Ora May (Lewis) Burrow; one brother, Charles Burrow of Dyersburg, Tennessee; three sisters, Becky Munn of Bradford, Teresa Parra of San Antonio, Texas, and Cecelia Burrow of Bradford; three nephews, Chad Sterling of Searcy, Austin Burrow of Dyersburg, Tennessee, and Ty Gregory Parra of San Antonio, Texas; and two nieces, Whitney Burrow of Dyersburg, Tennessee and Alyssa Parra of San Antonio, Texas.

Mr. Melford Levi Morgan, 85, of Batesville died Saturday, August 28, 2010. He was born August 21, 1925 at Wappapello, Missouri, the son of Roger and Addie (Wilson) Morgan. Mr. Morgan was a cabinet maker, retiring in 1993 from Western Manufacturing in Arlington, Texas. He was a member of the Blackwater Baptist Church at Manila, Arkansas. Mr. Morgan had played the guitar for sixty years, and enjoyed traveling, listening to bluegrass music, and gardening. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Geraldine (Brewer) Morgan; one brother, Joe Carroll Morgan; four sisters, Roxie Dunkin, Sylvia Smith, Hassie Perkins, and Hazel Morgan; and his parents. Mr. Morgan is survived by his wife, Lavern Johnson Morgan; two sons, Gary Melford Morgan of Searcy and Roger Duane Morgan of Denver, Colorado; two stepsons, Gary Johnson and Randy Johnson, both of Carrolls Corner, Arkansas; two step-daughters, Kay Holt and Lesa Delancey, both of Carrolls Corner, Arkansas; four grandchildren, Lannie Cheshier, Becki Finney, Ashley Meyer, and Joe Morgan; ten great-grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; ten step-great-grandchildren; one step-great-great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at First Missionary Baptist Church of Newark. Interment will be in Macedonia Cemetery. Visitation is Monday, 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Jackson’s Newark Funeral Home.
