Billy Holley, 76, of Fort Smith died Friday, Nov. 12, 1999, in a local hospital. He was affiliated with Southside Baptist Church and was a member of the CB Club.

Memorial service will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Edwards Funeral Home Chapel. Cremation is under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.

He is survived by several cousins.

Raymon Ainsworth

KINTA — Raymon L. Ainsworth, 80, of Kinta died Sunday, Nov. 14, 1999, in a Haskell County hospital. He retired from Union Equity Grain Elevator and was a veteran of World War II. He was a member of Kinta First Baptist Church.

Memorial service will be 11 a.m. today at Kinta First Baptist Church under the direction of King and Shearwood Funeral Home of Stigler.

He is survived by his wife Pauline Blagg Ainsworth; one daughter, Dixie Swezey of Edmond, Okla.; two sons, Charles of Oklahoma City and Paul of Keota; one brother, Leo; and seven grandchildren, Chris, Patrick and Erin Swezey, Amber, Olivia, Josey and William Ainsworth.

The family will visit with friends after the memorial service at the Kinta First Baptist Church.

Virginia Landers

BRAGGS, Okla. — Virginia Lee Tice Landers, 75, of Braggs died Sunday, Nov. 14, 1999, in Braggs. She was a homemaker and sales clerk at Sears. She was a member of Church of Christ in Braggs.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Church of Christ of Braggs with burial at South Bethel cemetery in Braggs under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Gore.

She is survived by her husband, Douglas; one daughter, Billye Truitt of Claremore, Okla.; two stepsons, Douglas A. Landers of Fort Gibson, Okla. and Milton R. Landers of Eufaula, Okla.; five grandchildren, Mike and Melissa Truitt, Justin and Alicia Landers and Dennis Tice.; and one great-grandchild.

The body may be viewed from 9 a.m. to noon today at the funeral home.

Margaret McElyea

SPIRO — Margaret Louise McElyea, 59, of Spiro died Friday, Nov. 12, 1999, in a Pocola nursing home. She was a homemaker and a member of the 4-H.

Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at the U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.

She is survived by three daughters, Mary Louise Garza and Jamie Menthes, both of Charleston and Carla Overbey of Lavaca; one son, Kyle Menthes of Charleston; one sister, Ellen Carpenter of Rogers; one brother, Dr. Monroe Morton of Fort Smith; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

The family will visit with friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Ronald Gordon

BOONEVILLE — Ronald Lee Gordon, 61, of Booneville died Monday, Nov. 15, 1999, in a Fort Smith hospital. He was an Army veteran (retired), member of First Baptist Church and 32nd Degree Mason.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church of Booneville with burial at Oak Hill cemetery in Booneville under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home of Booneville.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy N. Parks Gordon; two daughters, Martha and Rhonda Vickers, both of Booneville; three sisters, Carolyn Sue Leisinger of Fulton, Miss., Patsy Pollick of Jefferson City, Mo. and Marilyn Kay Canterbury of Holt Summit, Mo.; and five grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be members of the military.

Eugene McGowen

WISTER — Eugene “Roscoe” McGowen, 47, of Wister died Monday, Nov. 15, 1999, in Poteau. He was a member of Wister Assembly of God and the Oklahoma Farmers Association.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Wister Assembly of God with burial at Summerfield cemetery in Summerfield under the direction of Dowden Funeral Home of Heavener.

He is survived by his wife, Sherry; two daughters, Shana Holson and Heather Hepfer, both of Wister; two sons, Nick McGowen of Summerfield and Jeff Blomberg of Wister; his mother, Sally McGowen of Summerfield; three sisters, Loretta Wheat of Clayton, Shirley Hollan of Sapulpa and Brenda Campbell of Summerfield; and three grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made, in lieu of flowers, to the Benevolence Account in care of the Wister Assembly of God.

Gerald Calcote

VILONIA — Gerald Dean Calcote, 67, of Vilonia died Saturday, Nov. 13, 1999, in Little Rock. He was a self-employed floor cover installer, a Pentecostal and a Navy veteran of the Korean War.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Victory Temple Pentecostal Church of Roland with burial at Upper Camp Creek cemetery, northwest of Muldrow under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Muldrow.

He is survived by his wife, Naomi; two sons, Gary Douglas Calcote Daughtry of Vacaville, Calif. and Michael Grady Calcote Daughtry of LaGrande, Ore.; his mother, Eica O’Neal Calcote of Roland; and two sisters, Rose Ella Calcote Mattox of Houston and Carmoleta Calcote Roberts of Phoenix.

Pallbearers will be David Liere, Stephen and Ken Mattox, Doug and Mike Daughtry, Gordon Westfall, Rick, Ross, Randall and Scott Spiller and Jack Roberts.

The body may be viewed from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral chapel.

Josephine McGehee

PARIS — Josephine Kurek McGehee, 81, of Paris died Monday, Nov. 15, 1999, in Paris. She was homemaker and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church of Paris. She was the widow of James F. McGehee.

Rosary will be 6:45 p.m. today in Roller Funeral Home Chapel in Paris. Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church of Paris with burial at St. Joseph cemetery in Paris under the direction of Roller Funeral Home of Paris.

She is survived by two sisters, Jessie Peterson of Pinole, Calif. and Felicia Suvada of Paris; and several nieces and nephews.

Joann Harvey

HARTFORD — Joann Aline Harvey, 56, of Hartford died Monday, Feb. 28, 2000, at her home. She was a homemaker and member of Packsaddle Church.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Packsaddle Church with burial at Duncan cemetery in Waldron under the direction of Martin Funeral Home of Waldron.

She is survived by three daughters, Liz Jamison of Sand Springs, Okla., and Dawn Deaton and Laura Hyde, both of Hartford; two sons, James and Larry, both of Waldron; her mother, Effie Beck of Tulsa; two sisters, Martha Probes of Tulsa and Debra Ballew of Oak Hurst, Okla.; four brothers, Larry and Johnny Newman, both of Salpulpa, Okla., Rick Newman of Bixby, Okla., and Steve Newman of Tulsa; and 17 grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Don Rogers, Allan Plowman, Brian Justice and William and Bradley Himes.

The body may be viewed from 9 a.m. to noon today at the funeral home.

Carol Harlan

Carol Lee Harlan, 76, of Fort Smith died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2000, in a local nursing home. He retired as a pipe fitter and was a member of First United Methodist Church and VFW Post No. 1174 of El Dorado, Kan.

Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Jefferson Baptist Church of Eureka, Kan. Local arrangements are under the direction of Mallory Funeral Home of Spiro.

He is survived by his wife, June; one daughter, Sharon Pennington of Fort Smith; two sons, Donnie and Harvey, both of Hackett; one sister, Ruth Best of Kilgore, Texas; and five grandchildren, Charity and Chris Harlan, David Pennington, Chris Snell and Braden Hamm.

Mildred Ruge

MENA — Mildred L. Ruge, 79, of Mena, formerly of Fort Smith and Chicago, died Friday, Feb. 25, 2000, in Mena. She was a homemaker and the widow of Paul F. Ruge. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Mena, Methodist Women’s Organization and former member of the Southwest Artists Association.

Memorial service was Monday at the First United Methodist Church of Mena under the direction of Beasley-Wood Funeral Home of Mena.

She is survived by one nephew, James Robert Wilder of Palm Harbor, Fla.; and two cousins, the Rev. Bill Wilder of Fort Smith and Betty Boutwell of Norcross, Ga.

Alpah Hyder

HARTMAN — Alpah L. Hyder, 80, of Hartman died Monday, Feb. 28, 2000, in Clarksville. She was a member of Center Point Baptist Church and the widow of Cleo A. Hyder.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Center Point Baptist Church with burial at Liberty Hill cemetery in Hunt under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home of Clarksville.

She is survived by four daughters, Sue English and Connie Bartlett, both of Altus, and Janice Qualls and Phyllis Sisco, both of Clarksville; one son, Dennis of Hartman; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Kenneth and Gary English, Robert and Duane Qualls, Jody and Matthew Ming, William Sisco, Charles Patton, Bobby Bartlett and Keith Allred.

The family will visit with friends today at the home in Hunt.

Lillian Hooper

PARIS — Lillian Irene Hooper, 71, of Paris died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2000, in Fort Smith. She was a homemaker and a member of First United Methodist Church of Paris. She taught the church nursery school class for 48 years.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church of Paris with burial at Baxley cemetery in Paris under the direction of Roller Funeral Home of Paris.

She is survived by her husband, Buran; one daughter, Sandra Bradley of Paris; one son, Roger of Van Buren; two sisters, Martha Phillips and Mildred Cleary, both of Paris; and three grandchildren, Josh Hooper of Fayetteville and Heath and Heather Bradley, both of Russellville.

Pallbearers will be David Rayburn, Wilbur Allio, Tom Freson, Roy S. Lloyd, John Ross and E.L. Jacobs.

John Olsen

LITTLE ROCK — John Edwin “Jack” Olsen, 68, of Little Rock died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2000. He was a graduate of the University of Arkansas and owner of John Olsen Construction and Real Estate Company for 30 years. He was a member of the Arkansas Home Builders Association and member and former deacon of First Christian Church of Little Rock.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Ruebel Funeral Home of Little Rock with burial at Roselawn Memorial Park in Little Rock.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn; four children, Leslie Olsen Hampel and Lisa Olsen Spears, both of Fort Smith, and Mary Elizabeth Olsen and Edwin Eric Olsen, both of Little Rock; and six grandchildren, Megan, Amanda and Elysia Hampel, Erin and Hunter Spears and Justin and Bethany Olsen.

The family will visit with friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Homecare or the Pulaski County Humane Society.

James Hodge

GREENWOOD — James D. Hodge, 84, of Greenwood died Monday, Feb. 28, 2000, in a Greenwood nursing home. He retired as an Army sergeant after serving in World War II and the Korean War.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in McConnell Funeral Home Chapel of Greenwood with burial at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Fort Smith.

He is survived by his wife, Edith; one son, Ted Martin of Greenwood; two sisters, Marcie of El Dorado and Ophelia of Huttig; two brothers, Zack and Coye, both of Louisiana; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

The body may be viewed from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Lester Lindsey

Lester Lindsey, 89, of Van Buren died Monday, Feb. 28, 2000, in a local hospital. He was a member of Van Buren Assembly of God and a Navy veteran of World War II.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in Ocker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel of Van Buren with burial at Gracelawn cemetery in Van Buren.

He is survived by his wife, Maudine; one daughter, Kay Crabtree of Seminole, Okla.; three sisters, Wilma Blankenship of Little Rock and Essie Ball and Anna Bell Testerman, both of Dumas, Texas; one brother, Gene of Shreveport, La.; and three grandsons, Chad Crabtree of Norman, Okla., and Cory and Brandon Crabtree, both of Seminole.

Pallbearers will be his nephews, Kenny Lindsey, Gene Testerman, Jackie and David Baker, David Huffstetler, Jim McKnight, Paul Holt and Zeke Burns.

The family will visit with friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Rose Bogoslavsky

Rose Bogoslavsky, 92, of Fort Smith died Friday, Feb. 25, 2000, in Fort Smith. She was a member of the United Hebrew Temple and Temple Sisterhood for more than 60 years. She was the widow of Abraham Bogoslavsky.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. today at Mt. Carmel cemetery in Kansas City, Mo., under the direction of Louis Memorial Chapel of Kansas City with local arrangements under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.

She is survived by one daughter, Sonja Bogoslavsky Fitzgerald of Louisville, Ky.; one son, Leonard of Fort Smith; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Fort Smith Public Library or Louisville Crusade for Children in Louisville, Ky.

Kenneth Roller

Kenneth Charles Roller, 50, of Fort Smith died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2000, at his home. He retired as a laborer at Harding Glass.

Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Forest Park cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.

He is survived by his wife, Deanna; two daughters, Dava Jennen and Sheri Roller, both of Van Buren; two sons, Darren Garner and Brian Roller, both of Van Buren; his mother, LaFern Roller of Van Buren; one sister, Jan Forsgren of Fort Smith; and two granddaughters.
