CEDARVILLE — Elva Elmore Stites, 87, of Cedarville, formerly of Huntington, died Sunday, Dec. 3, 2000, in a local nursing home. She was a homemaker and was of the Pentecostal faith.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at McConnell Funeral Home Chapel in Greenwood with burial at Dawson cemetery in Milltown.
She is survived by five daughters, Faye Drewry of Cedarville, Betty Edison of Muldrow, Louise Hale of Waldron, Mary Sue Hawks of Greenwood and Shirley Mahan of Van Buren; one sister, Dicy Hays of Fort Smith; 21 grandchildren; 68 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
Viewing will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Jimmy Green
MANSFIELD — Jimmy Lee Green, 35, of Mansfield died Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2001, in a local hospital. He was self-employed and a Baptist.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. today at Martin Funeral Home Chapel in Mansfield with burial at Freedom cemetery near Waldron.
He is survived by his wife, Kim; two sons, Carl Green and Josh Johnson, both of the home; his mother and stepfather, Peggy and Joe LePori of Flatona, Texas; two sisters, Tammy Green of Van Buren and Debbie Harkins of Charleston; and two brothers, Allen and Ricky Green, both of Charleston.
Pallbearers will be Bo, Cody and Jeff Lang, David Morgan, William Gwin and Mike Robles.

Elmer Miller
ALMA — Elmer H. Miller, 72, of Alma died Saturday, Jan. 27, 2001, in his home. He graduated from Tilden Tech High School in Chicago, attended Michigan State University and graduated from American Landscape School. He was formerly of Rogers, Chicago and Evergreen Park, Ill. He was a retired lithographer and landscape architect, a 50-year member of Ancient Free & Accepted Masons, Lodge No. 815 in Oak Lawn, Ill., the Graphic Arts International Union, Local No. M458. He attended the Catholic and Methodist churches.
Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Kibler United Methodist Church with burial of cremated remains at Evergreen Park cemetery in Evergreen Park, Ill., under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home in Van Buren.
He is survived by his wife, Florence; two daughters, Carol Anne Miller LaPorte of Virginia Beach, Va., and Julieanne Marie Miller of Alma; one sister, Margaret Miller McCullagh of Woodstock, Ill.; two grandchildren, Joseph Charles LaPorte and Jennifer Susanne LaPorte Ruffner, both of Virginia Beach; one great-granddaughter, Alyssa Michelle Ruffner; and one niece and three nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made to any Masonic Lodge.

L.H. Scarbrough
WALDRON — L.H. Scarbrough, 75, of Waldron died Thursday, Feb. 1, 2001, in Waldron. He was a retired sawmill worker and a Primitive Baptist.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Martin Funeral Home Chapel in Waldron with burial at Duncan cemetery in Waldron.
He is survived by several cousins and friends.
Viewing will be from 4 to 9 p.m. today and 8 a.m. until funeral time Saturday at the funeral home.

Everett Long
SALLISAW — Everett Thomas Long, 88, of Sallisaw died Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2001, in Sallisaw. He was a retired Sallisaw school bus driver for 25 years and a member of Calvary Temple Full Gospel Church in Sallisaw.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. today at Agent Funeral Home Chapel in Sallisaw with burial at Brushy cemetery north of Sallisaw.
He is survived by his wife, Eunice; one daughter, Anona Simpson of Sallisaw; two stepdaughters, Mary Lou Brewer and Opal Mosby, both of Sallisaw; four sons, Edgar J., Ronnie and Mike Long, all of Sallisaw, and Bryan Long of Poteau; four stepsons, Bill Mattingly of Topeka, Kan., Leroy Mattingly of Wichita, Kan., James Mattingly of Coyle, Okla., and Ronnie Joe Mattingly of Panama; 20 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Dale and Tommy Rogers, Keith, Mark, John and Roger Long.

Rebecca Vails
HARTFORD — Rebecca Vails, 87, of Hartford died Sunday, Jan. 28, 2001, in Fort Smith. She was a homemaker and member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
The body was cremated under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home in Greenwood. No services are scheduled.
She is survived by five daughters, Ruby Annie Wells of Spokane, Wash., Marggie Deerdoff of Peck, Ore., Nancy Vallins of Muldrow, Ruthie Jean Leagure of Centralia, Wash., and Jackie Marie Hopper of Goshen, Calif.; two sons, Charlie M. Vails of Parowan, Utah, and Allen Leason Vails of Hartford; 37 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Catherine Horne
Catherine E. Horne, 62, of Fort Smith died Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2001, in a local hospital. She was a secretary at Sparks Regional Medical Center and a member of First Baptist Church in Fort Smith.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Putman Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at New Hope cemetery in Spiro.
She is survived by one daughters, Nancy Neve of Spiro; two sons, Tim Horne and Dr. Mark Horne, both of Fort Smith; three sisters, Carolyn King of Spiro, Emma Pence and Telma Kay Boitel, both of Fort Smith; three brothers, Ronald Boitel of Fort Smith, Mannie and Jerry Boitel, both of Booneville.
Pallbearers will be David Cox, Steve Smith, Kevin and Doug Pence, Mike King and Jimmy Don McCabe.
Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association, P.O. Box 1274, Fort Smith, AR 72902.

Rosemary Taber
Rosemary Murphy Taber, 79, of Fort Smith, formerly of Russellville died Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2001, in Fort Smith. She was Catholic.
Rosary will be 6:30 p.m. today in Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith. Mass will be 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Boniface Catholic Church with burial at Rest Haven Memorial Park in Russellville.
She is survived by four daughters, Pat Morgan of Atlanta, Kathy Humiston and Susan Starr, both of Fort Smith, and May Scovic of Portage, Mich.; eight sons, Clint of Edwardsville, Ill., Steve of Kemore, Wash., Mike of Hot Springs, David of Houston, Tom of Augusta, Ga., Peter of Fayetteville, Rick of Van Buren and Robert of Kansas City, Mo.; four sisters, Sally Boniecki of Chicago, Virginia Brewster of Falls Church, Va., Pat Tighe of Palo Alto, Calif., and Eileen Oliver of San Mateo, Calif.; 29 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Jeff and Adam Humiston, David and Clint Taber III, Shaun Easton and Nick Westphal.
Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren.

Cecil Gray
Cecil Edward Gray, 75, of Fort Smith died Thursday, Feb. 1, 2001, in a local nursing home. He was the former owner of Gray’s Floor Covering in Paragould and worked for Joe Taylor Construction in floor covering. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Paragould and was active in youth baseball programs in Paragould.
Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Sunday in Griffin Memorial United Methodist Church in Paragould with burial at Greene County Memorial Gardens in Paragould under the direction of Fentress Mortuary in Fort Smith.
He is survived by three daughters, Rita Ramey of Fort Smith, Sheila Dryden of Sacramento, Calif., and Gayl Ramsey of Normal, Ill.; one son, Jamie Gray of Reno, Nev.; two brothers, Lester Gray of North Little Rock and Jimmy Gray of Walnut Ridge; and four grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Goddard United Methodist Church, 1922 Dodson Ave., Fort Smith, AR 72901.

David Lindsey
MENA — David Mark Lindsey, 39, of Mena died Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2001, in Tulsa. He was born Feb. 27, 1961, in Gary, Ind. He was a Marine, supervisor for the Iron Fork Water Treatment Plant and a member of Union Mission Pentecostal Church of God.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Union Mission Pentecostal Church of God with burial at Rock Springs cemetery in Posey Hollow under the direction of Hall Funeral Service of Mena.
He is survived by his wife, Sherri; one daughter, Jennifer Burton of Mena; two sons, Caleb and Benjamin Lindsey, both of Mena; his parents, Charles and Doris Lindsey of Valparaiso, Ind.; two sisters, Martha Regier of Tokyo, Japan, and Kathryn Witherspoon of Chesterton, Ind.; and one brother, Charles Lindsey Jr. of O’Fallon, Mo.
Pallbearers will be Chuck Lindsey, Jeff Tedder, Buddy Hooper, Danny Hale, Marvin Brewer and Richard Hennings.

Ila Sanders
ALTUS — Ila M. Sanders, 75, of Altus died Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2001, in Ozark. She was a homemaker.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Roller Funeral Home in Paris with burial at McKendree cemetery in Subiaco under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home in Ozark.
She is survived by two daughters, Kay Smith of Dover and Darlene McEntyre of Mulberry; four sons, Larry Sanders of Dickinson, Texas, Keith Sanders of Memphis, Tom Sanders of Racine, Wis., and Garry Sanders of Altus; 20 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Kenny, Robert, Larry and Jerry Sanders, Bobby McEntyre and Larry Houge. The family will visit with friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Faye Tolley
Faye Tolley, 97, of Fort Smith died Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2001, in a Fort Smith nursing home. She was a homemaker.
The body was cremated under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home in Greenwood. No services will be scheduled.
She is survived by three sons, Maurice Knight of the home, Marshall Knight of Hemet, Calif., and James Tolley of Las Vegas; several grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

G.W. Ballinger
SALLISAW — George William Ballinger, 76, of Sallisaw died Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2001, in Sallisaw. He was retired from St. Clair Lime Company and was a Baptist. He was the widower of Bonnie Ballinger.
Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Upper Camp Creek cemetery northeast of Muldrow under the direction of Agent Funeral Home in Sallisaw. He is survived by three sisters, Della O’Neal of Roland, Paula Groggins of Lake Tenkiller and Vera Queen of Antlers, Okla.; one brother, Harold Ballinger of Lake Tenkiller; seven grandchildren; Mark Lee, Travis Greyson and Clark Wayne Ballinger Jr., Christopher Thomas, Henry William and Derek Daniel Broyles and Arlena Kaylynn Massa, all of Sallisaw; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Marguerite Vogel, 95, of Fort Smith entered into rest Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2001, in a Fort Smith nursing home. She was born March 23, 1905, in Fort Smith, the daughter of the late Henry and Maggie O’Connell Vogel. Marguerite was a retired employee of Weldon, Williams and Lick and a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. She is survived by her sister, Flora Vogel of Fort Smith; three nieces, Ruth Tinder of Fort Smith, Nancy Highfill of Monroe, La., and Betty Meadors of Maumelle; four nephews, Johnnie Porter of Fort Smith, Charles Porter of Viola, Bill Esslinger of Irving, Texas, and Frank Vogel of Park Forest, Ill.; several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. Mass will be 10 a.m. today in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with burial at Calvary cemetery in Fort Smith, officiated by Monsignor John O’Donnell. Pallbearers will be Carl Tinder, Johnnie Porter, Ken Billingsly, Bill Meadors, Keith Mizell and Will Turnage. Memorial contributions may be made to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, P.O. Box 1866, Fort Smith, AR 72902. Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith.

Ben H. Smith, a retired military officer and highway safety officer, died Sunday, Jan. 21, 2001, at North Penn Hospital in Hatfield. He was 81.
Mr. Smith of Lanadale worked for the United States Army Adjutant Corps as a chief warrant officer, retiring in 1969. He later worked as a safety officer with the Texas Highway Department, retiring in 1986. Mr. Smith served in Vietnam and Korean Wars and World War II. He received the Army Commendation Medal with two oak leaf clusters, the Bronze Star Medal and a Meritorious Unit Commendation. He was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Lanadale, the Fort Bliss Golf Club and the Downtown Lions Club, both in El Paso.
Born Dec. 30, 1919, in Fort Smith, he was the son of the late Ben H. and Edna B. Robinson Smith Sr.
Surviving are his wife, Margaret E. Rooney Smith; a daughter, Doris Menard of East Norriton; and three grandchildren.
A funeral mass was held Thursday in St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, East Main Street and Lanadale Avenue, in Lansdale. Interment will be in Augustus Lutheran cemetery in Trappe. Arrangements are by the Holcombe Funeral Home Inc. Trappe, Pa.

Zelma Maxwell
BOKOSHE — Zelma Maxwell, 95, of Bokoshe, Okla., died Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2001, in Fort Smith. She was a homemaker and the widow of Bill Maxwell.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. today at First Assembly of God in Bokoshe with burial at Old Bokoshe cemetery under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.
She is survived by two daughters, Leatrice Maxwell of Bokoshe and Jimmie Adams of Panama; one son, L.D. of Bokoshe; seven grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.

Elsie Farris
MANSFIELD — Elsie Amylou Farris, 80, of Mansfield died Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2001, in Fort Smith. She was a homemaker.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. today in Mansfield Assembly of God with burial at Sugar Grove cemetery in Booneville under the direction of Martin Funeral Home of Mansfield.
She is survived by one daughter, Patricia Williams of Mansfield; five sons, Daniel of Lincoln, Truman of Mansfield, Billy Wayne of Magazine, and Irvin and William, both of Booneville; 15 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie Black, Bill and Ray Weaver, Gary Lopez, Leon Moore and Gerald McGahan.
