POTEAU — Norma L. Thompson Taylor, 80, of Poteau died Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2000, in a Fort Smith hospital. She was a bookkeeper and retired from Eastern Oklahoma Medical Center. She was a member of Rebekkah Lodge No. 146, where she served as a secretary. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Poteau, a member of “Rockin’ Ages” and Plenty Niners and the Esther Sunday School class. She was the widow of Floyd Taylor.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church in Poteau with burial at Oakland cemetery in Poteau under the direction of Evans and Miller Funeral Home in Poteau.
She is survived by five daughters, Suzanne Ritter and Vicki Wilson, both of Poteau, Kay Ollar of Hatfield, Jan Clark of Spiro and Gean Taylor of El Reno, Okla.; two sons, Wayne “Tuffy” Taylor of McAlester, Okla., and Bill of Poteau; one sister, Laverne Smith of Midwest City, Okla.; one brother, Richard Thompson of Midwest City; 22 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 10 step-great-grandchildren; and one step-great-great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.

HEAVENER — Bea Harris, 90, of Heavener died Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2000, in a local nursing home. He was a retired coal miner and timber worker.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Memorial cemetery in Heavener under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Elva; three daughters, Cathrine Kelley of Waldron, Carolyn Dawson of Oklahoma City and Della Kessler of Fort Smith; one stepdaughter, Maxine Luce of Heavener; three sons, Bud of Bethany, Okla., and Midge and Bob, both of Heavener; two stepsons, Harold Ray of Heavener and Carl Ray of McAlester, Okla.; one sister, Carrie Stacy of Wister; three brothers, Finis of Houston, Rufus of Wister and Orell of Greenwood; 11 grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 13 step-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Dan, Jack and Doug Harris and Scotty Scott.

POCOLA — Margot R. Falleur, 79, of Pocola died Monday, Oct. 9, 2000, in a local hospital. She was a homemaker and a member of Cavanaugh Missionary Baptist Church. She was the widow of Joseph Falleur.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Holy Cross cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Fentress Mortuary in Fort Smith.
She is survived by one daughter, Carol J. Voelkel of St. Joseph, Mo.; one son, Joel of Pocola; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
WILLIAM RUSSELL SR.
FAYETTEVILLE — William L. “Bill” Russell Sr., 86, of Fayetteville died Monday, Oct. 9, 2000, in a Fayetteville hospital. He attended the University of Central Arkansas on a football scholarship and served as co-captain on the football team in 1940. He was a former sheriff of Franklin County and was a retired lieutenant colonel in the Army, serving in World War II and the Korean War. He received eight Purple Hearts and the Silver Star for valor and was most decorated soldier in the 83rd Infantry Division in World War II.
Funeral with full military honors will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Nelson’s Funeral Home in Fayetteville. Burial will be at the U.S. National cemetery in Fayetteville with military honors provided by the Army and Fort Sill in Lawton, Okla.
He is survived by his wife, Gladys; two daughters, Phyllis R. Temple of Dhaharan, Saudi Arabia, and Vicki R. White of Jonesboro; one son, William Leon Russell Jr. of Maumelle; two sisters, Evelyn Jangston of Cecil and Hazel Rainwater of Fort Smith; two brothers, Clayton and Paul Russell, both of Fort Smith; and three grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

MOFFETT — Edward Wayne Brown, infant son of Melissa Brown and Eddie Conner of Moffett, died Sunday, Oct. 8, 2000, in Tulsa.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Long cemetery, north of Muldrow, under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Roland.
In addition to his parents, he survived by his maternal grandmother, Barbara Ann Reynolds of Moffett; paternal grandmother, Brenda Bower of Moffett; paternal great-grandmother, Edith Smith of Moffett; and paternal great-grandfather, Arthur Bailey of Moffett.

GREENWOOD — Mary Elizabeth Gwin, 55, of Greenwood died Monday, Oct. 9, 2000, in a local hospital. She was a homemaker and a member of Burnville Baptist Church.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday in McConnell Funeral Home Chapel in Greenwood with burial at Liberty cemetery in Greenwood.
She is survived by her husband, Lee; one daughter, Charlene Tibbits of Greenwood; one son, William of Midland; her mother, Ila Johnson of Greenwood; one sister, Rebecca Jones of Greenwood; seven grandchildren, Courtney Elizabeth, Christian Lee and Curtis Ray Gwin and Autumn Leigh, Alanna Danae, Ashlin Grace and Aslene Pearl Tibbits.

LENEXA, Kan. — Viola Thronebury, 94, of Lenexa and formerly of Clarksville, died Sunday, Oct. 8, 2000, in Overland Park, Kan. She was a homemaker and a Free Will Baptist. She was the widow of Silas Thronebury.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday in Roller-Cox Funeral Home Chapel in Clarksville with burial at Minnow Creek cemetery in Lamar.
She is survived by two daughters, Carolyn Tumbleson of Lenexa and Barbara Yarbrough of Wington, Ore.; one son, Johnie of Grandview, Mo.; three brothers, George Wheeler of Jasper, Gene Wheeler of Western Grove and Grady Wheeler of Merriam, Kan.; 19 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and 21 great-great-grandchildren.

CANADIAN, Okla. — Stella G. Stockam, 66, of Canadian, Okla., died Monday, Oct. 9, 2000, at her home. She worked as a nurses aide in Mesa, Ariz. She graduated from Westark Community College in Fort Smith with an associates degree in nursing. She worked as a registered nurse in Fort Smith, Oklahoma, Texas, Washington and Maine. She was a member of Canadian Church of Christ.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday at Canadian Church of Christ with burial service at 2 p.m. at Macedonia cemetery in Uniontown under the direction of Black’s Funeral Home of Eufaula, Okla.
She is survived by two sisters, Rachel Adell Martin of Kingston, Okla., and Zita Creota Compton of Glebe, Ariz.; four brothers, Calvin Reno Stockam of Queen Creek, Joseph Earl Stockam of Troutdale, Ore., Pearce Buckie Stockam of LaGrange, Ga., and Dale Stockam of Van Buren.

Raymond G. Didier, 85, of Fort Smith died Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2000, in his home. He was co-owner and operator of Didier Lumber Company. He was a member of Jenny Lind Masonic Lodge No. 503. He was a 32nd degree Mason and received his 50-year Masonic pin. He was a Methodist.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Steep Hill cemetery in Fort Smith with a Masonic service under the direction of Putman Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
He is survived by one daughter, Linda Lovvorn of Fort Smith; two sisters, Florentine Vozel, Emma Ulmer and Nancy Ray, all of Fort Smith; one brother, Pete of Fort Smith; and one granddaughter, Alicia Lovvorn of Fayetteville.

VIAN — Richard William Bellamy, 75, of Vian died Monday, Oct. 9, 2000, in Sallisaw. He was an Army veteran of World War II and retired from the U.S. Post Office in Midwest City, Okla. He was a member of Oklahoma Anthropological Society, Oklahoma Historical Society, National Rifle Association, National Geographic Society, National Wood Carvers Association and Blackgum volunteer Fire Department. He was a Protestant.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Arlington Memory Gardens cemetery in Midwest City under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Sallisaw.
He is survived by two sisters, Marjorie Pryor of Midwest City and Laura Tracy of Illinois; one brother-in-law, Floyd Pryor of Midwest City; one niece Trina Ann Haslam Of Newalla, Okla.; and one nephew, Robert Edward Pryor of Midwest City.

The Rev. Rupert E. Pixley, 80, of Fort Smith died Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2000, in his home. He was a pastor of First Free Will Baptist Church in Fort Smith for 44 years and was the pastor of Bethlehem Free Will Baptist Church in Van Buren at the time of his death. He was involved in the ownership of three local nursing homes, was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of Belle Point Masonic Lodge.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at First Free Will Baptist Church in Fort Smith with burial at Gracelawn cemetery in Van Buren under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
He is survived by his wife Gladys; three daughters, LaBetha Parks of Springhill, Tenn., Aletha Ray of Alma and Emmetta Hawkins of Van Buren; two sons, Ben of Van Buren and Harlan of Fort Smith; two sisters, Belva Dodd of Van Buren and Leah Atwell of Fort Smith; one brother, the Rev. Gilbert Pixley of Van Buren; 13 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren.
