JOSEPHINE EDWARDS

Josephine R. Edwards, 89, of Fort Smith died Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2000, in Fort Smith. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Luke Lutheran Church. The body will be cremated following the service and interred at a later date in Princeton, Ill, under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.

She is survived by her husband, William H. Edwards; one son, Bill of Fort Smith; one brother, Frank Giordano of Peru, Ill; and two grandchildren, Kristine and David Williams.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Luke Lutheran Church, 5401 Free Ferry Road, Fort Smith, AR 72903.

JERRY STEVENSON

Jerry Eugene Stevenson, 55, of Fort Smith died Saturday, Oct. 28, 2000, in a local hospital. He was an Army veteran.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. today at King Solomon Baptist Church with burial at the U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Rowell-Parish Mortuary of Fort Smith.

He is survived by his companion, Stella Jean Parks; four daughters, Lavonna and Lalonna Releford, Tiffany Parks and Pamela Jenkins, all of Fort Smith; five sons, Ricky and Anthony Releford and Anthony, Gerry and Titus Parks, all of Fort Smith; his parents, John Daniel and Essie Stevenson of Fort Smith; four sisters, Patricia Wheatt of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Margaret Stevenson, Paula Releford and Anntionette Lofton, all of Fort Smith; six brothers, John Edward and Daniel Paul, both of Portland, Ore., Samuel and Michael, both of Fort Smith, Jarvis of Detroit, Mich., and Malcolm of Vian; and 16 grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Willie Polk, Jerome Lofton, Willie Adams Jr., Patrick and Lemuel Parks Jr. and Renee Rodriquez.

The family will receive friends at 1014 N. 37th St.

INEZ JORDAN

Inez Jordan, 77, of Fort Smith died Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2000, in her home. She was a member of St. James Missionary Baptist Church.

Funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Mt. Zion C.M.E. Church with burial at Fort Coffee cemetery in Fort Coffee, Okla., under the direction of Rowell-Parish Mortuary at Fort Smith.

She is survived by four daughters, Ethel Heller of Flint, Mich., Vera Billings of Tacoma, Wash., and Van Ferguson and Linda Jordan, both of Fort Smith; three sons, Carl Jordan Jr. of Carson, Calif., Amos Jordan of Arlington, Texas, and Ivan Jordan of North Richland Hills, Texas; five grandchildren, Angela Scaife, Alyssa and Andrea Ferguson, Amber Jordan and James Billings Jr.; and one great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be deacons of St. James Missionary Baptist Church.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Rebecca Circle of St. James Missionary Baptist Church.

The family will visit with friends at 2201 N. 30th St.

VERLA WEBSTER

SALLISAW — Verla Marie Webster, 78, of Sallisaw died Thursday, Nov. 2, 2000, in Muskogee, Okla.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Mallory Funeral Home Chapel in Sallisaw with burial at Akins cemetery, northeast of Sallisaw.

She is survived by her husband, John; two sons, J.C. Walton of Boise, Idaho, and Grady Walton of Jacksonville, Fla.; one sister, Bonita of Austin, Texas; one brother, Arvil Burcham of Portland, Ore.; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Viewing will be at the funeral home.

JOHN ROFKAHR

CLARKSVILLE — John Conrad Rofkahr, 88, of Clarksville died Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2000, in Clarksville. He was a retired farmer, coal miner and plant worker. He was a member of New Life Christian Center in Clarksville.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Roller-Cox Funeral Home Chapel in Clarksville with burial at Shady Grove cemetery in Clarksville.

He is survived by his wife, Laverne; one daughter, Jane Winsell Paramore of Clarksville; two sisters, Annie Dahlem and Marie Lingar, both of Hartman; two brothers, Frank and Clarence Rofkahr, both of Hartman; three grandchildren, Jon Winsell of New York City, Kevin Winsell of Oklahoma City and Kimberly Winsell Mullins of Claremore, Okla.; and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Jim and Michael Dahlem, Dane and Wayne Lingar and Tom, Bill, Bob, Max and Ron Rofkahr.

The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice and New Life Christian Center in Clarksville.

JAMES PARISH

MANSFIELD — James Parish, 66, of Mansfield died Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2000, in his home. He was retired from Whirlpool Corp. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War and a member of the Church of Christ.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. today at McConnell Funeral Home Chapel in Greenwood with burial at Old Union cemetery in Hackett.

He is survived by his wife, Freida; one daughter, Kathy Spillman of Wilmington, Del.; two sons, Bill of Mansfield and Danny of Senatobia, Miss.; one sister, Jane Robinson of Morrilton; three brothers, John L. Parish of Waldron and Steve and Jack Parish, both of Mansfield; and two grandchildren, Sarah Parish and Audra Spillman.

Pallbearers will be Paul, John and Jeff Parish, George and Darrell Schlinker and Howard Robinson.

Viewing will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at the funeral home.

JIM CAPPS

ROLAND — Lauden Jim (L.J.) Capps, 87, of Roland died Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2000, in Roland. He was a retired construction worker and a Baptist.

Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Liberty cemetery, north of Roland, under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Roland.

He is survived by one son, Jim Ray Capps of Stilwell; and one halfsister, Judy Moore of Fort Smith.

Viewing will be from 1 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

SALLISAW — Lenna M. Wheeler, 68, of Sallisaw died Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2000, in Fort Smith.

Funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church with burial at Sallisaw City cemetery under the direction of Mallory Funeral Home of Sallisaw.

She is survived by her husband, Richard Perry Wheeler; two daughters, Lynelle Burrows of Claremore, Okla., and Jo Spencer of Aberdeen, Scotland; one son, Rick of Chapel Hill, N.C.; four sisters, Louella Gillis of Sallisaw, Addie Hickman of Yuba City, Calif., Zula Asbill of Amarillo, Texas, and Myrna Dorsey of Catoosa, Okla.; three brothers, John Childers of Yuba City, Richard Childers of Wheatland, Calif., and Charlie Childers of Broken Arrow, Okla.,; and eight grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be L.V. Watkins, Bill Ed Mabray, Bob Carlile, Leroy Hensley, Lance Spencer and David Burrows.

PETE SMALLWOOD

WALDRON — Pete Smallwood, 95, of Waldron died Saturday, Nov. 4, 2000, in a local nursing home. He was a retired farmer and sawmill worker and attended Assembly of God.

Graveside service will be 10 a.m. today at Buffalo cemetery in Boles under the direction of Martin Funeral Home of Waldron.

He is survived by one daughter, Marcille Blair of Waldron; one brother, Troy Smallwood of Watson; eight grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

GOALD SKAGGS

HAGARVILLE — Goald Eugene Skaggs, 87, of Hagarville died Friday Nov. 3, 2000, in Lamar. He was a retired sawmiller and farmer.

Graveside service will be 10 a.m. today at Hagarville cemetery under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home in Clarksville.

He is survived by his wife, Audrey; six daughters, Edra King of Jonesville, N.C., Geneva Morland and Robbin Clark both of Lamar, Linda K. Clayborn of Clarksville, Debbie Bjorgum of Hagarville and Donna Roddy of Barling; three sons, James of Knoxville, Kenneth of Wynne and Chester of Lamar; one sister, Pearl Beebe of Cornville, Ariz.; one brother, Olen Skaggs of Bella Vista; 24 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be grandsons.

RUBY FAULKNER

CLARKSVILLE — Ruby Mae McGuire Faulkner, 89, of Clarksville died Saturday, Nov. 4, 2000, in Clarksville. She was a homemaker and Baptist. She was the widow of Morris Faulkner.

Funeral will be 1 p.m. Wednesday in Roller-Cox Funeral Home Chapel in Clarksville with burial at Grissard cemetery at 4 p.m. in El Paso.

She is survived by two sons, Eugene Faulkner of Clarksville and Gary Faulkner of Hayward, Calif.; two sisters, Alean Gross of Clarksville and Lavone Marcurm of Des Arc; one brother, Carrol McGuire of Des Arc; and one grandson, Mark Faulkner of Hayward.

The family will visit with friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

LUCILLE MARPLE

CHARLESTON — Lucille Allen Marple, 70, of Charleston died Sunday, Nov. 5, 2000, in her home. She was a homemaker and a member of Mount View Free Will Baptist Church.

Memorial service will be 2 p.m. today at Mount View Free Will Baptist Church under the direction of Smith Mortuary in Charleston.

She is survived by her husband, Lewis; four daughters, Sharon Kay Mullins, Mary Sykes and Linda Hernandez, all of Caruthers, Calif., and Lou Ann Shrum of Sallisaw; one son, James Mullins of Florida; two sisters, Betty Crawford of Central City and Shelby Wilson of Lavaca; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

CHAD GARRISON

CLINTON, Okla. — Chad Michael Garrison, 10, of Clinton and formerly of Fort Smith died Sunday, Nov. 5, 2000, in Clinton. He attended school in Butler, Okla., and attended First Baptist Church in Butler and was member of the 4H Club and Team Kids.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in Maranatha Baptist of Western Oaks in Bethany, Okla., with interment 3 p.m. at Hartford Memorial Park cemetery in Hartford under the direction of McNeil’s Mustang Funeral Service in Mustang, Okla.

He is survived by his parents, Sharon and Mark Hughes of Greenwood and Mike and Alena Garrison of Butler; two sisters, Susan Crow and Sarah Hughes, both of Van Buren; four brothers, Jason and Shawn Broom of Fort Smith and Anthony and Dylon Garrison, both of Butler; grandparents, Leon and Shirley Brown of Fort Smith, Shirley Wohl of Barling and Bill and Charlene Murphy of Foss, Okla.

CURTIS GOING

WATSON, Okla. — Curtis Going, 68, of Watson died Saturday, Nov. 4, 2000, in Oklahoma. He was a logger and served in the Army. He was a member of the American Legion and Kullituklo Presbyterian Church.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. today in the Kullituklo Presbyterian Church with burial at Watson cemetery under the direction of Beasley-Wood Funeral Home in Mena.

He is survived by one sister, Mary Ann Fox of Dierks and 10 nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Dennis Porter, Harvey and Doyle Pollard, Gerald “Buck” Phillip, Jerry Vaught and Jerry Bohanan.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

J.C. KOSIER

ALMA — J.C. Kosier 68, of Alma died Saturday, Nov. 4, 2000, in a local nursing home. He was retired from Allen Canning.

The body will be cremated under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home in Van Buren.

He is survived by three daughters, Janie Wallace, Jaquita Boles and Sandra Reynolds, all of Alma; four sons, Jimmy of Jay, Okla., Rocky and Joe Don, both of Alma, and Kenneth of Mulberry; one sister, Betty Keen of Broken Arrow, Okla.; two brothers, Marion Leon of Fort Smith and Otis Doc of Sand Springs, Okla.; 24 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

ALFORD DILLARD

Alford Wayne Dillard, 58, of Fort Smith died Sunday, Nov. 5, 2000, in a local hospital. He was a retired truck driver and an Army veteran. He was a member of Northside United Pentecostal Church.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in Northside United Pentecostal Church with burial at Mount Harmony cemetery in Greenwood under the direction of Putman Funeral Home in Fort Smith.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia; three daughters, Annette Puckett of Longview, Texas, and Melinda Morgan and Donna Sue Bennett, both of Fort Smith; two sons, Michael of Dallas and Patrick of Fort Smith; three sisters, Shirley Moates and Donna Neihouse, both of Fort Smith, and Deborah Schalski of Dallas; two brothers, Daniel Dillard of Springdale and Bill M. Dillard of Fort Smith; six grandchildren, April, Melissa and Matthew Morgan and Tarrah and Anthony Fears and David Inman.

Pallbearers will be Joseph Neihouse, John Paul Moates, Charles Durant, Tommy Billy, Ray Peacock and Bill Meyers.

The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

J.F. KELSEY

Dr. J.F. Kelsey, 78, of Fort Smith died Sunday, Nov. 5, 2000, in Houston. He practiced medicine in Fort Smith with Obstetric and Gynecology Associates from 1953-86. He was a member and served on the advisory board of First United Methodist Church. A graduate of the University of Kansas School of Medicine, he was certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He was a World War II and Korean Army veteran. He was a member of Alpha Omega Honorary Medical Society, American Medical Association, Arkansas Medical Society; was past president of the Sebastian County Medical Society, Southeastern Obstetrical and Gynecological Society; and was fellow and past chair of the Arkansas Section of the American College of Obstetrical and Gynecological Society. He was an associate clinical professor at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. He was a board member for Mount Magazine Girl Scout Council, Boy Scouts, the Salvation Army, Sparks Medical Center Foundation and the Retired Senior Volunteer Program.

Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Thursday in First United Methodist Church with private burial under the direction of Putman Funeral Home in Fort Smith.

He is survived by two daughters, Margo Roberts of Dodge Center, Minn., and Ellen Jacobi of Grand Forks, N.D.; one son, Dr. Fred C. Kelsey of USAF, Fairfax, Va.; and eight grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, 200 North 15th, Fort Smith, AR 72901, or the J.F. Kelsey Endowment of the Sparks Hospital Foundation, 1311 South I Street, Fort Smith, AR 72901.

JANICE CASEY

CLARKSVILLE — Janice V. Casey, 61, of Clarksville died Sunday, Nov. 5, 2000, in Clarksville. She was a member of the Eastern Star and the Salus Free Holiness Church in Salus.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday in Salus Free Holiness Church with burial at Wayton cemetery in Wayton under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home in Clarksville.

She is survived by three sisters, Sherry Boen, Pamela Turner and Kutrenia Turner, all of Ozone; one brother, Jay D. Henderson of Clarksville; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Robert Jordan, Wesley, Everett and Terry Turner, Donnie Terry and Mike Goni.

The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
