MOUNTAINBURG — Roy J. Chambers, 70, of Mountainburg died Monday, Nov. 6, 2000, in a local hospital. He was retired from Whirlpool and an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of New Hope Regular Baptist Church in Graphic Community.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday in New Hope Regular Baptist Church with burial at Pope cemetery in Graphic Community under the direction of Edwards Van Alma Funeral Home in Van Buren.

He is survived by his wife, Betty; a foster son, Bari Granger of Fort Smith; one sister, Alice Gish of Alma; and several great nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Edward Pryor, Reginal Deaton, Clifford Davis, Gary West, Albert Nash and Nick Griffin.

WANDA CALLAHAM

LAMAR — Wanda Rose Callaham, 74, of Lamar died Monday, Nov. 6, 2000, in her home. She was a well-known Johnson County businesswoman.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday in Hardwicke Funeral Home Chapel in Clarksville with burial at Lamar cemetery.

She is survived by her husband, Roy; five daughters, Teresia Wadley and Cindy Snodgrass, both of Lamar, Sydney Case of London, Judi Conway of Vilonia and Valerie Grover of Vacaville, Calif.; one son, Bill Ross of Orlando, Fla.; her mother, Elsie Henderson Anderson of Clarksville; one sister, Tessie Lemley of Lamar; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

STANLEY MORRIS

POTEAU — Stanley Junior Morris, 72, of Poteau died Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2000, in his home. He was a well driller.

Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Monroe cemetery under the direction of Evans and Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.

He is survived by his wife, Bona; four daughters, Rebecca Ramirez and Stella Chacoan, both of California, Ella Eggering of Missouri and Georgia Carpenter of Alaska; one son, Curtis of Oklahoma; one brother, Curtis Lee of California; 17 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

RUBY SMITH

POTEAU — Ruby Agnes Smith, 85, of Poteau died Sunday, Dec. 17, 2000, in Poteau. She was a housewife, member of Calvary Assembly of God in Poteau and the widow of Hubert Smith.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. today at Evans Chapel of Memories in Poteau with burial at Oakland Cemtery.

She is survived by one brother, Herman “Red” Oliver of Poteau; one niece, Linda Poe of Oklahoma City; and one nephew, Larry Oliver of Tulsa, Okla.

LARRY STEADMAN

Larry Steadman, 50, of Fort Smith died Saturday, Dec. 16, 2000, in a local hospital. He was a construction worker for Cooper Construction and of the Freewill Baptist faith.

Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Ocker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Van Buren.

He is survived by his wife, Tressa; three daughters, April Steadman of Oklahoma City and Mary and Kathleen Steadman, both of Clare, Okla.; one brother, Perry of Oklahoma City; and two grandchildren, Travis and Joshua Steadman, both of Clare, Okla.

MARY FREEMAN

RATCLIFF — Mary Jo Freeman, 72, of Ratcliff died Friday, Dec. 15, 2000, in her home. She was a retired school administrator, member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Extension Homemakers, the Committee for Child Abuse and the Franklin County Library Board. She was the widow of Iluf Freeman.

A vigil will be 7 p.m. today at Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel in Ozark. Funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in St. Anthony’s Catholic Church with burial at St. Anthony’s cemetery in Ratcliff, under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home of Ozark.

She is survived by two sons, John and Kent, both of Ratcliff; and two grandchildren, Josh and Ben Freeman.

Pallbearers will be Josh and Ben Freeman, Bob Redford, Timm Rogers, Don Mantooth and Bernie Forst.

Memorial contributions may be made to Subiaco Abbey, 405 Subiaco Ave., 72865.

LOUIE SANGSTER

MULDROW — Louie M. Sangster, 90, of Muldrow died Saturday, Dec. 16, 2000, in his home. He was an Army veteran of World War II, a Baptist and a retired assistant foreman for a furniture company.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Ocker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Gracelawn cemetery in Van Buren.

He is survived by his wife, Melba.

MIRIAM MCCRAW

LAMAR — Miriam Faith Elida McCraw, 1, of Lamar died Friday, Dec. 15, 2000. She was born July 16, 1999 in Clovis, N.M.

She is survived by her father, Gene; three sisters, Samantha, Emily and Abigail McCraw, all of Lamar; her grandparents, Billy G. and Judith Terry of Lamar and John and Wanda McCraw of Elida, N.M.; and her great-grandmother, Dothula Stone of Hagarville.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Lamar Baptist Church with burial at Fort Smith Douglas Cemtery under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home of Clarksville.

ARTHUR EINERT

Arthur C. Einert, 84, of Fort Smith died Saturday, Dec. 16, 2000, in Fort Smith. He was retired from the City of Fort Smith and a member of Grand Avenue Baptist Church.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Fort Smith.

He is survived by two daughters, Mary Spangler of Fort Smith and Nola B. Slack of Wichata Falls, Texas; two sons, Warren Caudle of Rudy and Archie Caudle of Fort Smith; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Honorary pallbearers will be his Sunday school class.

The family will visit with friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Mrs. Spangler’s home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Grand Avenue Baptist Church Library, 3900 Grand Ave., Ft. Smith, AR 72903.

VENNIE MCCONNELL

MULDROW — Vennie McConnell, 98, of Muldrow died Saturday, Dec. 16, 2000, in Muldrow. She was a homemaker and welder at Kaiser Shipyards in California during World War II and the widow of Joseph Shermer McConnell.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Agent Funeral Home Chapel in Muldrow with burial at Memory Gardens cemetery in Muldrow.

She is survived by one son, Charles of Muldrow; two sisters, Okla Smith of South Carolina and Madeline Partlow of California; and three grandchildren, Connie Peterson of Rescue, Calif., Mary Woods of Lincoln, Calif. and Danny McConnell of Tulsa, Okla.; and five great-grandchildren.

OLA BALLARD

VIAN — Ola Ballard, 85, of Vian died Sunday, Dec. 17, 2000, in Vian. She was a homemaker, a charter member of Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Vian and the widow of Claud Ballard.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Vian with burial at Garden of Memories cemetery in Vian under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Sallisaw.

She is survived by six daughters, Freddie Reid of Sallisaw, Loretta Mattingly of Raymor, Mo., Mary Nell Owens of Vian, Nancy Claudette Hopkins of Leon, Kan., Ruth Rankin of Tulsa, Okla. and Roberta Ward of Edmond, Okla.; one son, David of Marlow, Okla.; one sister, Mary Colbert of Albuquerque, N.M.; two brothers, Jack Craghead of Sallisaw, Okla. and Calvin Craghead of Wagoner, Okla.; 24 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons.

The family will visit with friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

JESSE DUTTON

VANDERVOORT — Jesse Michael Dutton, 17, of Vandervoort died Monday, Dec. 18, 2000, in Scott County. He was born Feb. 12, 1983, in Longview, Texas. He was a senior at Van-Cove High School.

Funeral was Thursday at the Van-Cove High School gymnasium with burial at Witherspoon cemetery under the direction of Hall Funeral Home of Mena.

He is survived by his parents, Gary and Carolyn Dutton of Vandervoort; two sisters, Stephanie Davis of Vandervoort and Shawna Dutton of Springdale; his grandparents, Peggy Cureton of Vandervoort and Jess Dutton of Lubbock, Texas; and four nephews.

Pallbearers were Derek Smith, Bryan Turner, Kenneth Watkins, Cris Roacha, Derek Davis and Tom Green.

RETA GRACE

CAMERON — Reta Bell Woodruff Grace, 50, of Cameron died Sunday, Dec. 17, 2000, in her home. She was born Oct. 25, 1950, in Pryor, Okla. She was a seamstress and a volunteer for EOMC Hospice in Poteau and a member of First Baptist Church in Poteau.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Garner’s Jim Green Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Pryor with burial at Hogan cemetery, west of Locust Grove.

She is survived by her husband, David; two sons, Christopher David Grace of Ada, Okla., and Gregory Shane Grace of Poteau; her mother, Letha Leno Woodruff; two sisters, Billie Holland of Chouteau, Okla., and Deanne Thompson of Pryor; and two brothers, Tommy Joe Woodruff of Pryor and Samuel Roy Woodruff of Tulsa.

Pallbearers will be Henry and Randy Thompson, Mike and John Sly, Jeff Woodruff and Jim McGregor.

JOYCE WILSON

COAL HILL — Joyce Marie Wilson, 70, of Coal Hill died Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2000, in Coal Hill. She was a Catholic. She was the widow of Luke A. Wilson.

Mass will be 2 p.m. today at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Altus with burial at Coal Hill cemetery under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home of Clarksville.

She is survived by five daughters, Gina Lynn Archer of Deer Park, Texas, Lou Ann Pitts of Clarksville, Mary Morgan and Kathy Wilson, both of Coal Hill, and Laurie Jaynes of Houston; one son, Larry Jaynes of La Porte, Texas; one sister, Armalene Franks of Pearland, Texas; 14 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Mike Fultz, William Pullen, Lee Tilley, Chris Lanphear, Luke Morgan and Wes Hardin.

DOYLE BLOCKER

HARTFORD — Doyle Dean Blocker, 63, of Hartford died Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2000, in Manila. He was retired from Continental Can Company and was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He was the widower of Barbara Ann Blocker.

Funeral will be 3 p.m. Saturday at McConnell Funeral Home Chapel in Hartford with burial at Hartford Memorial Park .

He is survived by one daughter, Donya Ann Davis of Bridgeman, Mich.; one son, William Frank Blocker of Washington; two brothers, Frank Blocker Jr., and Chester Eugene Woods, both of Manila; and two grandchildren.

Viewing will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

ALICIBIADES COOPER

YUCAIPA, Calif. — Alcibiades Cooper, 74, of Yucaipa, Calif., formerly of Fort Smith, died in his home. He was born Feb. 2, 1926, in DeQueen. He was a conductor for Southern Pacific Railroad and a Navy veteran. He was in the Army during the Korean War. He attended Cavanaugh United Methodist Church in Fort Smith.

Graveside service was Thursday at Emmerson-Bartlett Memorial Chapel in Yucaipa with burial at Riverside National cemetery in Riverside, Calif.

He is survived by one daughter, Connie Cooper of Las Vegas; four sons, Brian of Coronado, Calif., Brad of Yucaipa, Brock of Huntington Beach, Calif., and Brent of Alta Loma, Calif.; and 13 grandchildren.

MADGE WILLHITE

GREENWOOD — Madge Bugg Willhite, 91, of Greenwood died Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2000, in a local nursing home. She was a homemaker and a charter member of Jenny Lind First Baptist Church. She was a member of the EHC Club.

Funeral will be 1 p.m. today at Jenny Lind First Baptist Church with burial at Steep Hill cemetery in Jenny Lind under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood.

She is survived by one daughter, Elizabeth Holloway of Fort Smith; two sons, Lon Robert Willhite of Hackett and T.W. Willhite of Greenwood; two sisters, Leota Heathcock of Barling and Peggy Jones of Jenny LInd; six grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Jim McClain, Harold and Kenny Thames, Kelly Willhite, Bob Woodhull and Lon Bugg.

Viewing will be from 8:30 to 11 a.m. today at the funeral home.

ANDREW WILLIAMS

SHADY POINT — Andrew E. Williams, 82, of Shady Point died Thursday, Dec. 21, 2000, in a Poteau hospital. He was born Dec. 9, 1918, in Mountainburg. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a painter.

Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Shady Point cemetery under the direction of Evans and Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.

He is survived by his wife, Lucille; one daughter, Linda Matus of Watsonville, Calif.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

OPAL HILL

BOKOSHE — Opal Willene Doshier Hill, of Bokoshe died Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2000, in Fort Smith. She worked at Anthony’s and The Fashion Plate, both in Poteau. She was the widow of Tyde “Shike” Doshier and Horace Hill.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Evans and Miller Funeral Home Chapel of Memories in Poteau with burial at Shady Point cemetery.

She is survived by two daughters, Pat Hamblin of Norman, Okla., and Carol Morgan of Shady Point; two sons, Bob Doshier of Spiro and Gary Doshier of Flower Hill, Okla.; 13 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Mike, Scott and Steve Doshier, Mark Hamlin, Roscoe Hill, Dwayne Hensley and Doug Killion.

ADRON GERMAN

SALLISAW — Adron German, 76, of Sallisaw died Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2000, in Fort Smith. She was the widow of Paul German.

Graveside service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Marble City cemetery under the direction of Mallory Funeral Home of Sallisaw.

She is survived by four sons, Jerry of Sallisaw and Huey, George and Donald, all of Dumas, Texas; one brother, Edmond Welch of Coalgate, Okla.; and three grandchildren.

Viewing will be at the funeral home.
