OKLAHOMA CITY — James “Jim” Richardson, 55, of Oklahoma City died Tuesday, March 13, 2001, in Live Oak, Texas. He was an Air Force Veteran and retired from Demco Machine in Oklahoma City.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at Slaytonville Church in Slaytonville with burial at Slaytonville cemetery under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood.
He is survived by one daughter, Miranda Cushing of Okinawa, Japan; five sisters, Virginia Burnett of Fort Smith, Juanita Thompson of Tulsa, Barbara Been of Clarksville, Ann McCoy of San Antonio and Peggy Richardson of Austin, Texas; four brothers, Charles of Blacksburg, Va., Kenneth of San Antonio, Joe of Hackett and Jerry of Tulsa; and two grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Charles, Joe, Jerry, Salus and Barry Richardson and Earl Patterson.
The body may be viewed from 1 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
MYRTIE BALKE
MENA — Myrtie Ella Balke, 86, of Mena died Saturday, March 17, 2001, in a local nursing home. She was a packer for the Kellogg Cereal Co. and of the Methodist faith. She was the widow of Russell Balke
Burial will be in Westminister, Calif., under the direction of Beasely-Wood Funeral Home in Mena.
She is survived by two daughters, Alice Craw and Catherine Smale, both of Mena; one sister, Naoma Burlingame of Lytel Creek, Calif.; six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
The body may be viewed from noon to 8 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Billy Crouch
BOONEVILLE — Billy Joseph Crouch, 44, of Booneville died Friday, March 16, 2001, in Fort Smith. He was a landscaper and a Navy SeaBee NMCB28 of Bartsdale, Air Force Base in Shreveport, La., and a member of Booneville Christian Center.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday in Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel in Ozark with burial at Mount View cemetery in Ozark.
He is survived by his wife, Molly, one daughter, Tabatha Lee Ketner of Houston; two stepdaughters, Jennifer Stone and Emily Anderson, both of Booneville; one son, Stonie J. Crouch of Holton, Kan.; one stepson, Ian Anderson of Booneville; his parents, Joe and Genell Crouch of Ozark and Betty Johnson of Ozark; his grandfather, Stonie Crouch of Ozark; two sisters, Kathy Nichols and LaTonna Williams, both of Ozark; two brothers, Danny Crouch and Matthew Young, both of Ozark; and three grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Vernon Williams, Albert, Joe and Raymond Nichols, Matthew Young and Danny Crouch.
The family will visit with friends from 2 to 4 p.m. today at the funeral home.

BOONEVILLE — Devota Anderson, 89, of Booneville died Friday, March 16, 2001, in Booneville. She was a retired social worker and a member of the First Assembly of God in Booneville.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday in First Assembly of God with burial at Oak Hill cemetery in Booneville under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home of Booneville.
She is survived by one daughter, Pat Jenkins of Fort Smith; one son, Richard Eugene “Andy” Anderson of Booneville; three grandchildren, Steve, Jeff and Jerry Jenkins and Staci Bowers; and seven great-grandchildren.

CLARKSVILLE — Addie L. Bilderback, 87, of Clarksville died Friday, March 16, 2001, in an area hospital. She was a Baptist and the widow of Tom Bilderback.
Graveside service will be 3 p.m. Monday at Stillwell cemetery in Clarksville under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home of Clarksville.
She is survived by one son, Leon Bates of Clarksville; one sister, Vesta Hunt of Sudan, Texas; three brothers, Henry McWilliams of Amarillo, Texas, C.B. McWilliams of Littlefield, Texas, and Leslie McWilliams of Fort Smith; five grandchildren, Rhonda Armistead of Charlotte, N.C., Sharon Wofford of Russellville, Melinda Middleton of Clarksville and Kelley and Jeff Bates; and four great-grandchildren.

Euneva L. Poynor, 77, of Van Buren died Saturday, March 17, 2001, in a local hospital. She was a homemaker, a member of Heritage United Methodist Church, a former day-care director for the Methodist Church in Van Buren and Clarksville and a member of the Van Buren Garden Club.
Memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Heritage United Methodist Church in Van Buren with burial of cremains at Fort Smith National cemetery under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
She is survived by her husband, the Rev. Roy Poynor; one daughter, Linda K. Seubold of Roland; two sons, Dr. Roy E. Poynor II of Alma and Robin Poynor of Dallas; two sisters, Aretha McKeever of Greenwood and Minnie Lea DeHart of Pocola; one brother, Marshall Kidd of Alma; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

VIAN — Dallas Ray Andrew Qualls, 60, of Vian died Saturday, March 17, 2001, in Sallisaw. He worked at Crown-Zellerbach for 20 years and was a Baptist.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Monday at Lee’s Chapel cemetery near Muldrow under the direction of Agent Funeral Home in Sallisaw.
He is survived by his wife, Laquetta June Qualls; four daughters, Vickie Johnson and Cindy Edwards, both of Muldrow, Lisa Johnson of Sallisaw and Nicole Eubanks; two sons, Andy and Bobby Qualls, both of Muldrow; five sisters, Wilma, Nona, Linda and Carolyn Qualls and Juanita Hendrix; five brothers, John of Tulsa, Loyd of Gore, Kenny of Webbers Falls, Okla., Jerry of Sallisaw and Coy Qualls; and 11 grandchildren.

CLARKSVILLE — Frederick “Fritz” Gunnar Karnell, 84, of Clarksville died Saturday, March 17, 2001, in an area hospital. He was retired from Greenville Tube, a Lutheran and a member of the Masonic Lodge.
Funeral will be 9 a.m. Tuesday at Roller Cox Funeral Home Chapel in Clarksville with burial at Oakland cemetery in Clarksville.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Ann Mliczek Karnell; one daughter, Victoria Mary Roberts of London; one son, Frederick Gunnar Karnell Jr.; and three grandchildren, Frederick G. Karnell III, Matthew Carnell of Pennsylvania and Charles L. Roberts III of London.
Pallbearers will be Donnie Carroll, James Paxton, Randy Palmer, Mike Harvey, James Lee Zieler and Jimmy Harmon.
Leola Knox
Leola Knox, 92, of Fort Smith, more recently of McKenzie Healthcare Center in McKenzie, Tenn., died Tuesday, March 13, 2001, in Jackson, Tenn. She was a member of Grand Avenue Baptist Church, the Jolly Travelers, WMU and a Sunday school teacher. She was a homemaker who earlier worked for Boston Laundry. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vesta C. Knox.
Funeral service was Friday in Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with burial at U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith. Services were under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
She is survived by one daughter, Virginia Knox of Fort Smith; one son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Sandra Knox of McKenzie, Tenn.; a grandson and his wife, Craig and Vera Knox of Burlington, Ky., a grandson, Brent Knox of Jackson, Tenn.; three great-grandchildren, Caitlin, Kyle and Carter Knox; two sisters-in-law, Frances Carson of Charleston and Zelda Carson of Fort Smith; and two nieces also survive her, Mackie Jane Carson Stanfill of Troy, Ohio, and Kay Hamilton of Leawood, Kan.
The deacons of Grand Avenue Baptist Church who served as pallbearers are Carroll King, Roy Howard, Ray Stewart, Charles Suratt, Bob Bradford and Don Dodson. The remaining deacons served as honorary pallbearers.

Chris A. Coleman
Chris A. Coleman, 34, of Fort Smith died Thursday, March 15, 2001, in Texas. He was a sales representative in the furniture industry, a graduate of Muldrow High School in 1984 and was elected Mr. Muldrow High School. He was a graduate of Northeastern State University with a degree in business administration. He was founding member of the Downtown Volunteers and a volunteer for the mayor’s Fourth of July Celebration.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday in First Assembly of God in Muldrow with burial at Lee’s Chapel cemetery in Muldrow under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
He is survived by special friend, Jamee Hatchette of Fort Smith; one daughter, Kelsey Coleman of Tahlequah; his father, Bill Coleman of Fort Smith; his mother, Glenda Knight of Muldrow; his paternal grandparents, Willie and Edna Coleman of Van Buren; maternal grandparent, Paul Syble Lee of Muldrow; and one sister, Jamie Sharp of Muldrow.
Pallbearers will be Randall Baker, Brett, Kyle and Todd Butcher, Wally Hays, Kailen Pratt, Judd Maxwell and Berry Tabor.
Honorary pallbearers will be Brian Vest, Loren Rogers and Chad Loughridge.

Noel Babb
POTEAU — Noel Douglas Babb, 90, of Poteau died Thursday, March 15, 2001, in Tulsa. He taught school for 35 years and served as superintendent of schools in Cameron, was principal of Howe High School and coached the Howe High School girls basketball team, winning state championship in 1959. He retired and studied natural history and his collection of artifacts was exhibited at several county libraries from 1980-through 1990. He was the widower of Frances Babb.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday in Dowden Funeral Home Chapel in Heavener with burial at Memorial Park in Heavener.
He is survived by four daughters, Laneal Crawford, Elith Jane Smith and Robbie Paquette, all of Tulsa, and Yvonne MIller of Sapulpa, Okla.; one son, Ian Douglas Babb of Poteau; five sisters, Dessa Dipboye of Houston, Edith Beavers of Heavener, Mary Jane Dickson of Austin, Texas, Oleta Moffit of Beaumont, Texas, and Reba Eddins of Livingston, Texas; seven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

Harold Young
GEORGETOWN, Texas — Harold F. Young, 72, of Georgetown, Texas, died Thursday, March 15, 2001, in a local hospital. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and received a Commendation Ribbon with Medal Pendant. He was a member of Order of the Eastern Star, Woodbine Chapter No. 738 and past Patron of the Thunderbird No. 1087, Yorkrite, Knights Templar and Disabled American Veterans Sunshine Chapter No. 165 and the American Legion Post No. 345, all of El Paso, Texas. He was a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge, Coronado Lodge No. 1406, past Master, District Deputy Grand Master and District Educational Director in El Paso, Texas and was a Methodist. He retired from the fire department in El Paso.
Masonic graveside service will be 1 p.m. Monday at U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
He is survived by his wife, Betty; one daughter, Sheila Olenich of Cedar Park, Texas; two sons, Harold Young Jr. of Ozark, Mo., and Lewis Young of Austin, Texas; two sisters, Dorothy Thomas of Mesquite, Texas, and Ann Tyler of Van Buren; three brothers, William Young Jr. of Peoria, Ariz., Jim and Robert “Gene” Young, both of Fort Smith; and six grandchildren.

Bobbie Taylor
CLARKSVILLE — Bobbie Temple Taylor, 84, of Clarksville died Thursday, March 15, 2001, in her home. She was born Nov. 27, 1916, in Johnson County. She was a graduate of Fort Smith High School and Arkansas State Teachers College in Conway. She was a retired teacher and was the only lay teacher at Mount St. Mary’s Academy in Little Rock and taught in the Pulaski County School district. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Clarksville.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. today at Kendall cemetery in Hartman under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home of Clarksville.
She is survived by her husband, John; one brother, Lee Douglas Temple of Fort Smith; and several nieces and nephews.

MONROE, Okla. — Norman Dwain Morphis, 67, of Monroe died Thursday, March 15, 2001, in a Muskogee hospital. He was born Aug. 31, 1933, in Okemah, Okla. He was an Air Force veteran and an oil field worker.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Monday at Monroe cemetery under the direction of Evans and Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.
He is survived by his wife, Alice; three daughters, Cindy Morphis, Vicky Mittag of Oregon City, Ore., and Janet Lynn Bledsoe of McAlester, Okla.; four sons, Norman Morphis Jr. of California and Dwain Lee Morphis of Monroe, James Edward Blake of Poteau and Thomas Keith Blake of Panama; one brother, Dean Penick of Odessa, Texas; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Robert Hodo
RUDY — Robert Scott Hodo, 30, of Rudy died Monday, March 12, 2001, in San Luis Obispo, Calif. He was a body repairman for Smith Chevrolet in Fort Smith.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday in Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Gracelawn cemetery in Van Buren.
He is survived by his mother, Cindy Hodo of Westminster, Calif.; his father, Bob Hodo of Rudy; one sister, Lori Hodo of Rudy; one nephew; and several aunts and uncles.
Pallbearers will be Richard Hodo, Wayne Davis, Dave Gustafson and Robert Craft.
Anthony George
Anthony H. George, 84, of Fort Smith died Friday, March 16, 2001, in a local hospital. He was a World War II veteran and a retired dispatcher for Powerine Oil Company.
The body was cremated under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Betty; two daughters, Nora L. Jackson of York, Maine, and Karen Wildvank of Conway, N.H.; one son, Michael George of Laguna Niguel, Calif.; four sisters; one brother; and two grandchildren.
