OZARK — Waldo Thomas Trotter, 92, of Ozark died Sunday, July 8, 2001, in an Ozark nursing home. He was a retired farmer and tool dresser for Stephens Production Co. and was the widower of Hazel B. Trotter.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Tuesday in Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel in Ozark with burial at Hixon cemetery west of Ozark.
He is survived by a son, Robert of Ozark; two grandchildren, Scott and Garry Trotter, both of Ozark; and nine great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Scott, Garry, Nick, Chris, Matthew, Thomas and Andrew Trotter.
The family will visit with friends from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Rozie Gibson
Charleston — Rozie Cox Gibson, 83, of Charleston died Friday, July 6, 2001, in a Fort Smith hospital. She was a homemeker and a Baptist.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in Smith Mortuary Chapel in Charleston with burial at Garden of Memories in Charleston.
She is survived by a daughter, June Collins of Caulksville; a sister, Ruth Welch of Tulelake, Calif.; and 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Ruth Fine
Ruth Fine, 89, of Fort Smith died Saturday, July 7, 2001, in a local hospital. She was born in Greenwood on July 25, 1911. She was a member of Spradling Avenue Baptist Church and was the widow of Hugh Fine of Van Buren. She was the last living person of her family clan.
Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at the U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith.
She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Charles Henson, John Rice Sr., Al Waldo, Don Tadlock, Danny Stanley and Sean Williams.
The family will visit with friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Marion Spears
Marion Paul Spears, 84, of Fort Smith died Sunday, July 8, 2001, in a local hospital. He was a retired painter and a member of VFW Post 8845.
Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at the U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
He is survived by a daughter, Paula Myers of Florida; a sister, Bertha M. Wood of Uniontown; and three grandchildren.
The body may be viewed from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to noon Tuesday at the funeral home.
Bob Beaty
Bob Beaty, 70, of Roland died Friday, July 6, 2001, in Sallisaw. He was a retired construction worker and a Baptist.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. today at Victory Temple Pentecostal Church in Roland with burial at Roland City cemetery under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Muldrow.
He is survived by his wife, Alta M. Beaty; a daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Frank Cosner of Roland; two sons and daughters-in-law, Clyde and Loretta Beaty and Wally and Vicki Beaty, all of Roland; a brother and sister-in-law, Art and Mary Beater of Roland; seven grandchildren, Shawna Barnes, Shea Mulanax, Tasha and Nikki Beaty and Kenzie, Lenzie and Jordan Cosner, all of Roland; and one great-grandchild, Kailey Barnes of Roland.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie Rogers, Jeff Beaty, Larry Henson, Larry Smith, Mike Conner, Chuck Kolp and Jackie Williams.
Honorary pallbearers will be his granddaughters and great-granddaughter.
Herbert Lee “Grandpa Slick” Cox
Herbert Lee “Grandpa Slick” Cox, 78, of Fort Smith died Thursday, July 5, 2001, in Fort Smith. He was a retired taxi driver after 40 years of service for Razorback Cab Co.
The body will be cremated. Private family service will be held at a later time under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home in Fort Smith.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Lee Cox.
He is survived by his loving and devoted grandchildren, Kenny and Beverlie Hixson, Theresa Goodson, Ann Walker, Sissy Perieia and Danny Hixson; a daughter, Judy Beneux Cox; a son, Danny Cox; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Harold Eggensperger
Harold O. Eggensperger, 88, of Fort Smith died Saturday, Aug. 4, 2001, in a Fort Smith hospital. He was born April 29, 1913, in Hanska, Minn. He received a bachelor of arts degree from Hendrix College in 1937 and a bachelor of divinity degree from Southern Methodist University in 1940. He was an honorary doctor of philosophy degree from Hendrix College in 1960. He was an ordained minister of the North Arkansas Conference of the United Methodist Church in 1937 and served several cities in Arkansas. He served as district superintendent of the Conway District and a executive secretary of the North Arkansas Program Council.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. today in First United Methodist Church in Fort Smith with burial service at 2:30 p.m. at Oakland cemetery in Clarksville.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons.
Honorary pallbearers will be ministers of the North Arkansas and Little Rock Conferences of the United Methodist Church.
Memorial contributions may be made to Central United Methodist Church Student Ministries in Fayetteville, or the First United Methodist Church in Fort Smith.

HEAVENER — Brett “Possum” Bowles, 30, of Heavener died Monday, Aug. 6, 2001, in Poteau. He was a 1989 graduate of Heavener High School, and a manager for O’Reilly Auto Parts, a member of the Cruzers Car Club, and First Baptist Church of Hodgen.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in First Baptist Church in Hodgen with burial at Heavener Memorial Park under the direction of Dowden Funeral Home of Heavener.
He is survived by his wife, Donna; a son, Theron of the home; his mother, Charlotte Steelman of Dallas, his father, Tommy Bowles of Hodgen; maternal grandmother, Ruby Steelman of Heavener; paternal grandfather, R.K. Bowles of Hodgen; a sister, Lisa Long of Dallas; a brother, Robert Bowles of Amarillo, Texas; and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

ALMA — Inez Elaine Christello, 82, of Alma died Sunday, Aug. 5, 2001, in a local nursing home. She was a homemaker and a Lutheran. She was the widow of Michael F. Christello.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. today at Alma City cemetery under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Alma.
She is survived by two sons, Scott and Jay Christello, both of Alma; three grandchildren, Laura Pointer of Tulsa, Brian and Jacque Christello, both of Alma, and four great-grandchildren.
Mary Wakefield
Mary L. Burton Wakefield, 95, of Fort Smith died Sunday, Aug. 5, 2001, in North Little Rock. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Fort Smith, a Sunday school teacher for 28 years, a member of the administrative board, United Methodist Women’s Circle chairman, evangelism and worship commissions, Methodist Nursing Home Women’s Board past president and secretary, Salvation Army Auxiliary secretary, Fort Smith Retired Teachers Association past president and secretary, Project Compassion, Kappa Kappa Iota Sorority. She was the widow of SamE. Wakefield.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday in Roebuck Chapel with burial at Lowe’s Creek cemetery near Cecil under the direction of Fentress Mortuary of Fort Smith.
She is survived by two daughters, Mary Virginia Bray of Salem, Ore., and Selma Moody of Roanoke, Va.; a son, Sam B. Wakefield of North Little Rock; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Pallbearer will be her grandsons and nephews.

CHARLESTON — Helen Genevive Riechmann, 86, of Charleston died Sunday, Aug. 5, 2001, in a local nursing home. She was a retired beauty shop operator and a member of the Eastern Star in Illinois. She was a Methodist and the widow of Jess A. Riechmann.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in Smith Mortuary Chapel in Charleston with burial at Garden of Memories in Charleston.
She is survived by two sisters, Virginia Stine of Chesepeak Bay, Ill., and Rachel Hunniford of Decatur, Ill.; two brothers, Gene Young of Coffeen, Ill., and Bob Young of Orlando, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Ben, Donald and Henry Riechmann III, Brian King, Roy Jones and Jeff Dillard.

HOWE — Ada Bell Cox, 87, of Howe died Sunday, Aug. 5, 2001, in Poteau. She was born April 11, 1914, in Sherman, Texas. She was a retired veterinarian’s assistant, and a member of Sugarloaf Christian Fellowship in Monroe. She was the widow of Sherman Cox.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in Evans & Miller Funeral Home Chapel of Memories in Poteau with burial at Springhill cemetery in Monroe.
She is survived by two brothers, Ules Cox of Indio, Calif., and Emmett Parker of Artesia, N.M.; a halfbrother, Odis Pickerill; and several nieces and nephews.

Pauline Merriman Schilling, 96, of Fort Smith died Monday, Aug. 6, 2001, in Fort Smith. She was a bookkeeper at Simpson Insurance Agency, and a member of the First United Methodist Church. She was the widow of John Schilling.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday in Edwards Funeral Home in Fort Smith with burial at Forest Park cemetery in Fort Smith.
She is survived by a son, Marv Schilling of Fort Smith; three grandchildren, Matthew Schilling of Richardson, Texas, Natalie Morris of Little Rock, and Mark McLain of Glenwood Springs, Colo., and three great grandchildren, Taylor Mattox, Bren Schilling and Abby Morris.
CE Dacus
MAGAZINE — CE “Bud” Dacus, 77, of Magazine died Sunday, Aug. 5, 2001, in Fort Smith. He was an Army veteran of World War II, a Purple Heart recipient, a 1944 Battle of the Bulge prisoner of war, a member of American Legion Post No. 109 of Magazine, the DAV and a lifetime member of Ex-Prisoner of War organization, and a member of First United Methodist Church of Magazine. He owned and operated the Corner Grocery & Feed Store in Magazine and was a retired cattle buyer.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in Roller Funeral Home Chapel in Booneville with burial at Ellington cemetery in Magazine.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda; a daughter, Nancy K. Burrough of Fort Smith; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Thomas and Dustin Dacus, Steve and Mike Core, Jeff Jones and Jesse Roberts.

Harold Oglesby
MENA — Harold Dee Wayne Oglesby, 49, of Mena died Monday, Aug. 6, 2001, in Mena. He was born Nov. 26, 1951, in Mena. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He was a carpet installer.
Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in American Legion Post No. 18 under the direction of Beasley-Wood Funeral Home of Mena. The body will be cremated.
He is survived by a daughter, Valerie Lynn Strothers of Mena; a brother, Philip Oglesby of Mena; and a granddaughter, Kasey of Mena.
