Josephine Ellen Smith Rogers, 81, of Fort Smith died Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2001, in Fort Smith.
She was the widow of Arnold N. Rogers. She was born Dec. 6, 1919, in Fort Smith, was former member or officer of the PTA at all three Fort Smith Catholic grade schools as well as St. Anne’s Academy, and was involved in scouting programs, St. Edward’s Auxiliary and Immaculate conception Women’s Auxiliary.
Rosary will be 7 p.m. today at Edward’s Funeral Home. Funeral mass will be 11 a.m. Friday at Christ the King Church with burial at Woodlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Edward’s Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
She is survived by one daughter, Nancy Rogers Stell of Fort Smith; two sons, R. Michael Rogers of Fort Smith and Richard W. Rogers of Greensborrow, N.C.; five grandchildren; one great-granddaughter and two step-great-grandsons.
Pallbearers will be her two sons and four grandsons.

Lori Denise House, 37, of Fort Smith died Saturday, Sept. 8, 2001, in her home. She was a homemaker.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Lewis Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith. Graveside service will be 4 p.m. today at Jackson cemetery north of Ozark.
She is survived by one daughter, Amber Rogers of Van Buren; her mother, Sue Vann of Altus; her step father, Jackson Vann of Fort Smith; her maternal grandmother, Mary Andrews of Ozark; her paternal grandmother, Euticha Parker of Van Buren; three sisters, Terrie Odom of Altus, Tammi Odom of Fort Smith and Lisa Looper of Barling; one brother, John Parker Jr. of Altus, and one grandchild, Chase Rogers.
Pallbearers will be Terry Odom, John Parker Jr., Keith Jeremiah, John Nolan, Brian Rogers and Derrick Looper.
Ruby Harbison
Ruby Ethel Jones Harbison, 89, of Vancouver, Wash., died Sunday, Sept. 23, 2001, in Vancouver. She was born May 30, 1912, in Bonanza. She graduated from Cameron High School in Cameron, Okla., and was a Vancouver resident since August 2000. She worked in a tuna fish cannery, aircraft plant and school cafeterias and was a homemaker and a member of the First Christian Church in Mena.
Private committal and interment were at Brush Prairie cemetery in Brush Prairie, Wash., under the direction of Hamilton-Mylan Funeral Home of Vancouver. Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday in the First Christian Church in Mena.
She is survived by her husband, Millard H. Harbison; a daughter, Nancy Morgan of Ridgefield, Wash.; a son, Michael of Lawndale, Calif.; a sister, Myrtle Grace of Sacramento, Calif.; four grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Opal Smith
BARLING — Opal Smith, 93, of Barling died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2001, in Fort Smith. She was a retired cook from Raymond Orr Elementary School and a member of Barling First Baptist Church. She was a charter member of Barling Senior Citizens’ Activity Center.
Funeral will be 3 p.m. today at Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at Old Union cemetery in Hackett.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Herchel and Damon Rye, Roger and Delmar Bullington, Ceborn Miller and Leroy Alexander.
Taylor Barnes
HARTFORD — Taylor Brook Barnes, infant daughter of Dale and Nancy Barnes of Hartford, died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2001, in a Fort Smith hospital.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Hartford Memorial Park under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Hartford.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by two brothers, Tyler and Trevor Barnes of the home; maternal grandmother, Mary Green of Mansfield; and paternal grandparents, A.C. and Retha Barnes of Hartford.
Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home, where family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
Sister Anastasia Gallus
Sister Anastasia Gallus, 92, of St. Scholastica Monastery died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2001, at St. Scholastica. She was a homemaker for the monasteries in Altus, Little Rock and Fort Smith. She made her profession of faith on June 24, 1959.
Vespers will be 7 p.m. today at St. Scholastica Monastery Chapel. Mass will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Scholastica Monastery Chapel. Burial will be at St. Scholastica cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Putman Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
She is survived by a sister, Pauline Rathburn of Raymore, Mo.; four brothers, Elmer, Basil, Hubert and Robert Gallus, all of Maysville, Mo.; several nieces and nephews; and the sisters of her religious community.
Pallbearers will be the sisters of her religious community.

Minnie M. Allen
NICUT, Okla. — Minnie M. Allen, 83, of Nicut, Okla., died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2001, in Nicut. She was a homemaker, lifelong resident of Nicut, a Baptist and the widow of Harvell David Allen.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Copic Baptist Church in Nicut with burial at Blackjack cemetery northwest of Muldrow under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Muldrow.
She is survived by four daughters, Velma Edwards of Nicut, Kay VanZandt of Muldrow, Francis Fields of Van Buren and Jeanie Morton of Natural Dam; five sons, Doug Allen and Bernis Harvell Allen, both of Sallisaw, Shannon Allen of Muldrow, Eual Allen of Fayetteville and Mike Allen of Nicut; a sister, Florence Osburn of Sallisaw; 35 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren.

SALLISAW — Mary Bouteller Standridge, 97, of Sallisaw died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2001, in Vian. She was a graduate of the University of Oklahoma with a degree in journalism and was retired from the Times Record. She was the widow of Floyd Standridge.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Church of the Nazarene with burial at Sallisaw cemetery under the direction of Mallory Funeral Home of Sallisaw.
She is survived by a stepdaughter, Dorthea Baker of Barnsdall, Okla.; a stepson, Floyd Standridge Jr. of Salina, Kan.; five grandchildren, Alan Baker of Cleveland, Okla., Kendall and Joey Baker, both of Bartlesville, Okla., Jennifer Standridge of New York and Brian Standridge of Salina; and one great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Alan, Kendall and Joey Baker.

Janis Rogers
Janis Rogers, 55, of Fort Smith died Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2001, in a local hospital. She was a member of St. Augustine Episcopal Church, a registered radiologist and held a BSW degree from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, an MSW from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and an MSE from the University of Central Arkansas. She was a special education teacher for the Fort Smith School District and a member of Delta Sigma Theta sorority, the Classroom Teacher’s Association, Arkansas Education Association, National Education Association and Delta Kappa Gamma.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. John’s Episcopal Church with burial at Oak cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Rowell-Parish Mortuary of Fort Smith. Memorial service will be 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Ninth Street Baptist Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Erin Lewis of Fort Smith; a son, Patrick Rogers of Rogers; her mother, Corrine Rogers of Fort Smith; five sisters, Ruby Palmer and Cindy Lou Bray, both of Fort Smith, Hazel Frazier of Michigan, Sister Patricia Rogers of New Orleans, La., and Marilynn Lee of Newport; and two brothers, George “Sammy” Rogers of Dallas and Eddie Rogers of Phoenix.
Pallbearers will be Eddie and George Rogers, George McGill, Anthony Gray, George Willis Jr. and George Clint Robinson.

VIAN — Julia Kay “Tweety” Jurey, 46, of Vian died Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2001, in Carnegie, Okla. She was a homemaker and Pentecostal.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Agent Chapel in Sallisaw with burial at Dwight Mission cemetery northwest of Sallisaw.
She is survived by her husband, Terry; two daughters, Melissa Waltermire of Fort Cobb, Okla., and Leona Aranda of Weatherford, Okla.; a son, Steven James Jurey of Cyril, Okla.; her mother and stepfather, Ava and Teddy Honeycutt of Sallisaw; three sisters, Ava “Susie” Dunagan of Gainesville, Ga., Larissa “Squaw” Roark of Sallisaw and Gayla Hightower of Marble City, Okla.; four brothers, Charley Riggs of Cyril, Amel Riggs of Fort Cobb, George Honeycutt of Valentine, Neb., and Teddy Joe Honeycutt of Sallisaw; and eight grandchildren.

Everette Neal Luckenbaugh, 64, of Fort Smith died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2001, in Fort Smith. He was an electrician with Union Local No. 700, an Air Force veteran and attended Harvest Time Tabernacle Church.
Funeral will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Lewis Funeral Chapel with burial at Oak cemetery in Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Arlene; two daughters, Kathy Thornburg of Arkoma and Susan Porter of Fayetteville; a son, Michael Luckenbaugh of Fort Smith; his father, Louis Luckenbaugh of Texarkana; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

ALMA — A.J. Johnson, 79, of Alma died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2001, at his home. He was a veteran of World War II and a retired heavy equipment operator. He attended the Assembly of God.

She is survived by five daughters, Kathy Almond of Cecil, Sue Van and Pamula Richard, both of Alix, Marcia McGee of Ozark and Judy Hollingsworth of Delaney; a son, Billy Charles Andrews of Ozark; 17 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
