Bettie Beckham
GORE — Bettie Lou Beckham, 64, of Gore died Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2001, in Fort Smith. She was a graduate of Webster High School in Tulsa. She was a homemaker and worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone for 5 1/2 years and was Church of Christ.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Gore City cemetery under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Gore.
She is survived by her husband, Robert; two sons, Roger Lee Beckham of Chattanooga, Tenn. and Ronald Lewis Beckham of the home; one granddaughter, Riana Lee Beckham of the home.
The body may be viewed 9 a.m. to noon Friday at the funeral home.

Claude Bowman
MULDROW — Claude L. Bowman, 74, of Muldrow died Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2001, in Muskogee, Okla. He was a Army veteran of the Korean War and was a highway construction worker and a member of Gans Baptist Church and the widower of Melvina Bowman.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday in Gans Baptist Church with burial at Gans cemetery under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Gans.
He is survived by two sons, William Lee Bowman of the home and Claude L. Bowman Jr. of Muldrow; five sisters, Betty Allen of Canadian, Okla., Eddie Cadenhead of Fort Worth, Texas, JoAnn McClain of Waco, Texas, Louise McBride of Porter, Okla., and Marjorie Rutledge of Glenpool, Okla.; two brothers, Ty and Bob Bowman, both of Canadian, Okla.; and two grandchildren.
The body may be viewed 1 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to American Red Cross for Sept. 11 fund.

Matt McGee
ARKOMA — Matt McGee, 28, of Arkoma died Oct. 14, 2001, in Fort Smith. He was a stacker at Acme Brick.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. today at Lowe’s Creek cemetery near Branch under the direction of Fentress Mortuary of Fort Smith.
He is survived by three daughters, Stephanie Nicole and Cheyenne, both of Lemoore, Calif. and Shelby Lynn McGee of Oklahoma City; two sons, Kevin Matthew McGee of Lemoore, Calif. and Matthew McGee Jr. of Oklahoma City; his mother, Alice Boster of Lemoore, Calif.; six sisters, Lillian Valero of Arkoma, Delina McGee of Branch, Carrie Sue Shadden of Paris, Jessie Bernard of Ozark, Rebecca Lynn McGee of Stratfrod, Calif. and Lisa Louise Harles of Craig, Okla.; four brothers, Loyd Hopkins Jr. of Lemoore, Calif., Kenneth Emmanuel McGee of Branch, William F. McGee of Fort Smith and Robert Lee Park of Sheboygan, Wis.; and several nieces and nephews.

Catherine Penton
SPRINGDALE — Catherine Carver Penton, 86, of Springdale died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2001, in Springdale. She was born May 23, 1915, in Childress, Texas. She was an office manager for Climate Control Inc. in Phoenix and worked for her brothers Dick and Jay Carver in Mena. She was the widow of Nicholas J. Penton.
Memorial service will be noon Saturday at Pinecrest Memorial Park under the direction of Beasley-Wood Funeral Home of Mena.
She is survived by two daughters, Patricia Espinosa of Tucson, Ariz., and Karen Taha of Springdale; six grandchildren, Andres and Marisa Espinosa, both of Phoenix, Javier Espinosa of Scottsdale, Ariz., Tarek Taha of Fort Smith, Dr. Sharif Taha of San Francisco and Maisa Taha Camani of Iowa City, Iowa; and three great-grandchildren.

Loretta Fine
SALLISAW — Loretta Jeanett Fine, 82, of Sallisaw died Friday, Oct. 19, 2001, in Enid, Okla. She was a homemaker and a sales clerk.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Sallisaw City cemetery under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Sallisaw.
She is survived by a daughter, Deborah Sloat of Enid, Okla.; two sons, Douglas Fine of Richardson, Texas, and Michael Fine of Sallisaw; a sister, Doris T. Carter of Marysville, Calif.; a brother, Jack Tabor of Edmond, Okla.; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren,
Pallbearers will be Mike, Doug, Brent and Derek Fine, Adam, David and Bill Sloat and Ty Smith.
The body may be viewed 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Otho Phillips
CLAREMORE, Okla. — Otho Carl Phillips, 50, of Claremore, Okla., died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2001, in Purcell, Okla. He was raised on Beaver Mountain near Stigler and attended schools at Stigler. He was a paint lead man with Crane Carrier Corp.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. today in Sandridge Pentecostal Church with burial at Mountain Home cemetery in Enterprise under the direction of King & Shearwood Funeral Home of Stigler.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara; two daughters, Kimberly and Amanda, both of Tulsa; eight sisters, Mary Thompson, Lola Jackson and Velva Taylor, all of Beaver Mountain, Joy Russell and Juanita Russell, both of Oaks, Okla., Phyllis Ross of Foyil, Okla., Barbara Jones of Tulsa and Connie Thornton of Chouteau, Okla.; three brothers, Boyd Phillips of Beaver Mountain, Charles Phillips of Catoosa, Okla., and Wayne Phillips of Claremore, Okla.; and two grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Louis Alred, John Martin, Scott Phillips, David Fowler, Homer Lawley and Pat Borden.

Mary Blackford
RUSSELLVILLE — Mary Alice Russell Blackford, 79, of Russellville died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2001, in Russellville. She was born April 24, 1922, in Lamar. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Russellville and the widow of Johnny M. Blackford.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in Shinn Funeral Service Chapel in Russellville with burial at Lamar cemetery.
She is survived by two daughters, Mary John Blackford LaCombe of Memphis and Nan Beth Blackford of London; a son, Stephen Milton Blackford of North Little Rock; two sisters, Susie Kathryn Russell Webb of North Little Rock and Jessie M. Russell Head of Lamar; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild
Pallbearers will be Jim Guin, Brian Bewely, Terry LaCombe, Don and Will Summers and Jerry Curtis.
The family will visit with friends from 5 to 6:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mary Morris
OZARK — Mary Ada Morris, 89, of Ozark died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2001, in Ozark. She was born Aug. 1, 1912, in Denning. She was a homemaker and a member of Ozark First United Methodist Church. She was the widow of Carl Morris.
Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Thursday in Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel in Ozark.
She is survived by a son, Harold Gene Morris of Bondurant, Wyo.; and four grandchildren, Brett Morris, Cindy Anderson, Lia Waxler and Celeste Latcha; and several nieces and nephew.

Stacey Hurd
HEAVENER — Stacey Lee Hurd, infant son of Joe and Pat-Sand Cox of Heavener and Daniel Hogan of Poteau, died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2001. He was born Sept. 10, 2001, in Poteau.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. today at Heavener Memorial Park cemetery under the direction of Grace Manor Funeral Home of Poteau.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a brother, Rikishi DeAllen Cox of the home; maternal grandparents, Gregory and Delores Hurd of Wister; paternal grandparents, Jim and Sarah Hogan of Poteau; stepgrandparents, Joe and Frances Cox of Panama; great-grandparents, Alva Gene and Peggy Beckham of Fort Smith; and several aunts and uncles.

Herbert Roberts
ALMA — Herbert Riley Roberts, 76, of Alma died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2001, in a local nursing home. He was an Air Force veteran of World War II and retired from Hughes Tool Co. and a member of Van Buren Church of Christ.
Memorial service will be 2 p.m. today in Ocker Funeral Home of Alma. The body will be cremated.
He is survived by his wife, Pat; a daughter, Cindy Osborn of Van Buren; a son, Max Roberts of Houston; four grandchildren, Nathan, Ross, Brooke and Rex; two stepgrandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Retha Browning
COLLINSVILLE, Okla. — Retha Belle Browning, 92, of Collinsville, Okla., formerly of Waldron, died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2001, in Collinsville. She was a homemaker and attended Hon Baptist Church.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. today in Hon Baptist Church with burial at Hon cemetery under the direction of Martin Funeral Home of Waldron.
She is survived by a son, Roy Browning of Vera, Okla.; two brothers, Willie Newman of Hon and Bryant Newman of Waldron; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Rodgers Leeper, Robert “Rodge” and Jake Newman, Bobby Don, J.C. and J.T. “Jake” Helms.
The body may be viewed 9 a.m. to noon today at the funeral home.

William Dixon
William A. Dixon, 82, of Fort Smith died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2001, in Fort Smith. He was born in Pittsburg and graduated from Fayetteville High School and the University of Arkansas. He was an Army veteran of World War II and returned to Arkansas after retiring from Texaco Inc. in New York. He was a member of Fort Smith Noon Exchange Club and First Presbyterian Church.
Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Marjorie; and several cousins including, Dr. Spencer Albright III of Fayetteville.
Pallbearers will be Babe Cialone, Raymond E. Johnson, W.C. “Bill” Moore, Hugh McKay Jr., Charles P. Baumgartner and Dr. Albert Koenig.

Jim Jenkins
Jim Junior Jenkins, 58, of Fort Smith died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2001, in Fort Smith. He was a former employee of Whirlpool and was a Baptist.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday in Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at Forest Park cemetery in Fort Smith.
He is survived by a daughter, Andrea Colleen Ross of Fort Smith; a son, Thomas Gene Jenkins of Fort Smith; two sisters, Mary Waggoner of Alma and Dora Kiewiet of Augusta, Mich.; two brothers, Jack Jenkins of Fort Smith and Bob Jenkins of Mulberry; and four grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be John, Shawn and Daniel Ross, Brian Whitmore, Rodney Burkett and Glen Waggoner.
The family will visit with friends from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Jasper Meeker
GREENWOOD — Jasper Meeker, 71, of Greenwood died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2001, in Winfield. He was a veteran of the Army and the Korean War and a retired refrigeration and appliance repairman. He was a member of Greenwood United Methodist Church and the Joy Sunday school class and a former Troop No. 54 scoutmaster. He was the widower of Donna Meeker.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday in Greenwood United Methodist Church with burial at Liberty cemetery in Greenwood under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood.
He is survived by three daughters, Brenda Gann, Karla Logue and Shelly Hill, all of Greenwood; three sons, Jack Meeker of Mansfield, Ralph and Lonnie Meeker, both of Greenwood; three sisters, Juanita Kniebes of Coloma, Mich., Erma Lee Willis of Concord and Ruby Jo Hyche of White Piegon, Mich.; 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Dewayne and Eric Gann, Shawn, Aaron, Terral and Ralph Meeker Jr., Gerald Hill Jr. and Brandon Carter.
The body may be viewed 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, where the family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Joy Sunday school class.
Memorial contributions may be made to Greenwood United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 548, Greenwood, AR 72936.

Carl Martin
HACKETT — Carl H. Martin, 69, of Hackett died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2001, in his home. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and a retired welder.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday in Hackett First Baptist Church with burial at U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood.
He is survived by his wife, Geraldine; a daughter, Teresa Trbovich of St. Peters, Mo.; a son, Ricky Carl Martin; a stepson, William Wade Chick; his mother, Ruth Martin of Bartlesville, Okla.; six sisters, Norma Carrington of Grove, Okla., Jackie Brannan of Bartlesville, Okla., Janette Vaughn and Bobbie Kizer, both of Nowata, Okla., Sue Madden of Springdale and Barbara Moreland of Chelsea, Okla.; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Michael Corn, Gary, Bobby and Harold Musgrove, Don Emerson and Hugh Jones.
The body may be viewed 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
