Wilber Richardson
JERICO SPRINGS, Mo. — Wilber DeWitt “Dee” Richardson, of Jerico Springs, Mo., died Tuesday, April 23, 2002, in Lamar, Mo. He was born Aug. 5, 1924, in Locke. He was an Army veteran of World War II and was one of the five divers for the Army whose job was the weld and repair large ships, working underwater. He was a member of the First Christian Church in El Dorado Springs, Mo.
Funeral was Friday at First Christian Church in El Dorado Springs under the direction of Brumback Mortuary of Stockton, Mo.
He is survived by his wife, Lucille; two daughters, Janette Perryman of Arkansas and Annette Jeffries of Oklahoma; three sons, Mark Richardson of Jerico Springs, Mo., Donald and W.D. Richardson, both of Arkansas; stepchildren, Joe Roy D. Kaderly, Cindy Appel, Karen and David McGatha, Christine Stewart and Brenda Jeffries; 20 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Louis Parillo
Louis Parillo, 86, of Fort Smith died Thursday, April 25, 2002, in a local hospital. He was born July 21, 1915, in New Haven, Conn. He was an Army veteran of World War II, retired from Harding Glass after 33 years of service, a member of Christ the King Catholic Church and the Holy Name Society, the American Legion Post No. 31 and Senior Citizens Center in Fort Smith.
Rosary will be 7 p.m. Sunday at Christ the King Catholic Church in Fort Smith.
Mass will be 10 a.m. Monday at Christ the King Catholic Church with burial at U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Betty; two daughters, Jeannie M. Parillo Pearce of Broken Arrow, Okla., and Judy R. Parillo Groff of Wichita, Kans.; three sisters, Mary Polverari, Rose Austin and Carmel Boyd, all of New Haven, Conn.; two brothers, Andrew and Joseph Parillo, both New Haven, Conn.; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Gregory and Ryan Pearce, Michael Kelly, Steve Hanson, Mike Verrill and Jerry Fleming.
The family will visit with friends Sunday after the rosary.

Ella Walker
CLARKSVILLE — Ella Ruth Walker, 75, of Clarksville died Thursday, April 25, 2002, in Clarksville. She was retired from a candy factory and was a member of Trinity Chapel Pentecostal Church of God.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. today at Harmony cemetery at Harmony under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home of Clarksville.
She is survived by a son, Johnnie Parks of Clarksville; two sisters, Polly Avery of Yellville and Sue Hoffman of Corning, Iowa; four grandchildren, Valery, Earl and Johnnie Parks Jr. and Joanetta Paniagua; three stepgrandchildren, Kandi Sweet, Stephen Watson and Rachel Philyaw; six great-grandchildren and four stepgreat-grandchildren.
Bethel Holcomb
Bethel “Bess” Daggs Holcomb, 84, of Fort Smith died Friday, April 26, 2002, in Fort Smith. She was a member of New Bethel Assembly of God and was the widow of Roy Lee Holcomb.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Fort Smith.
She is survived by a daughter, Adell Gobel of Fort Smith; a sister, Fay Parvin of Fort Smith; a brother, Clifton Daggs of Fort Smith; three grandchildren, Allen and Steven Young, both of Fort Smith, and Kevin Gobel of Nacogdoches, Texas; and four great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Robert Parvin, Phillip and Lionel Daggs, Charlie Been, Zachary Brooks and Dustan Young.

Zelma Rowden
STIGLER — Zelma Rowden, 87, of Stigler, formerly of Porum, died Thursday, April 25, 2002, in Stigler. She was a homemaker.
Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Monday at Coleman cemetery in Porum under the direction of Mallory Funeral Home of Stigler.
She is survived by her husband, Alva; a daughter, Kay Siders of Gig Harbor, Wash.; three sisters, Lela Wentzel and Daisy Keith, both of Porum, and Violet Shell of Oklahoma City; a grandchild, Kimberly Burke-Weiner; and one great-grandchild.
Auston Baggs
POTEAU — Auston D. Baggs, 70, of Poteau died Wednesday, April 24, 2002, in Poteau. He was retired from the Air Force, where he served in Korean and Vietnam wars, and was a master electrician and a World Champion Skeet Shooter.
Memorial service will be 2 p.m. today at Knot Hole cemetery Pavilion in Cameron under the direction of Dowden Funeral Home of Heavener.
He is survived by his wife, Bobbye; a daughter, Jennifer Baggs of Poteau; a son, Glenn of Broken Arrow, Okla.; a sister, Myrl Tarwater of Mansfield, Texas; two brothers, Troy of Cameron and Raymond of Poteau; and two grandchildren.
Gladys Winters
Gladys Virginia Winters, 78, of Fort Smith died Tuesday, April 23, 2002, in a local nursing home. She was born May 1, 1923, in Bennington, Okla. She was a retired Navy chief after 21 years of service and was awarded the National Defense Medal and Good Conduct Medal.
Graveside service was Friday at U.S. National cemetery under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Fort Smith.
She is survived by a sister, Barbara Hendricks of Fairfax, Va.
Odie Liles
HEAVENER — Odie Ocus “O.O.” Liles, 91, of Heavener, formerly of Mena, died Friday, April 26, 2002, in Oklahoma. He was born Oct. 12, 1910, in Pine Ridge. He served on the Mena police force for 22 years, 17 of those years he served as police chief, was a retired rancher, a member of the Odd Fellow Association and was of the Baptist faith. He was the widow of Helen Meuser Liles.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Beasley-Wood Funeral Home Chapel in Mena with burial at Pinecrest Memorial Park.
He is survived by two daughters, Nina Jean Carr of Mena and Maxine Bolin of Ontario, Calif.; a son, Larry Liles of Mena; a sister, Lois Liles of Jonesboro; three brothers, C.W. Liles of Mena, Leonard Liles of Tulsa and Ray Liles of Susakwa, Okla.; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She is survived by four daughters, Margaret Orndoff of Lakewood, Colo., Betty Aldridge of Fort Smith, Lillie Trijillo of Wheatridge, Colo., and Anna Rupe of Poteau; 20 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Everett Aldridge, Jr., Russell and Richard Aldridge, Jason Rupe, Justin Cripps and Damon Cripps.

Alda Phillips
CHARLESTON — Alda Phillips, 83, of Charleston died Friday, April 26, 2002, in her home. She was born Feb. 7, 1919, in Deer; retired from Southwest Rebuilders in Fort Smith and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Charleston and the Charleston First Baptist Church. She was the widow of J.C. Phillips.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Smith Mortuary Chapel in Charleston with burial at Garden of Memories in Charleston.
She is survived by two daughters, Sue Barton of Charleston and Mary Holt of Knoxville, Tenn.; two brothers, Charles Manes of Sun City, Ariz., and John Stewart of Fayetteville; three grandchildren, Kimberly Smith, Suzanne Barton and Emily Holt and one great-granddaughter.
Pallbearers will be the deacons of the First Baptist Church.

Wanda Risley
GORE — Wanda Risley, 81, of Gore died Friday, April 26, 2002, in Fort Smith. She was a homemaker and retired cook after 27 years at the Methodist Boy’s Ranch on Lake Tenkiller, Okla. She was a charter member of the Gum Springs Freewill Baptist Church, a loving wife and wonderful mother who operated the G.R. Risley Ranch with her husband while holding a job and serving as homemaker of the family.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Gum Springs Freewill Baptist Church with burial at Gum Springs Baptist Church cemetery under the direction of Agent Funeral Home in Gore.
She is survived by her husband, Gene; three daughters, Shirley Pruitt of Gore and Linda Hebb and Brenda Keener, both of Muskogee; one son, Jim Risley of Gore; one sister, Ruby Raper of Sapulpa; 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be members of Webbers Falls, Oklahoma Masonic Lodge No. 14.
The body may be viewed from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

PARKS — Auda Sarah Holleman, 89, of Parks died Friday, April 26, 2002, in an area hospital. She was a former schoolteacher and attended Keener Freewill Baptist Church.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at Martin Funeral Home Chapel in Waldron with burial at Hawkins cemetery in Parks.
She is survived by three sisters, Amy Bottoms of Paris, Allena Nelson of Waldron and Louise Dunn of Waldron; a brother, Herman Holleman of Parks and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be M.C. Nelson, Marty Nelson, John Fultz, Larry Bottoms, Trent Cox and Patrick Travers.
Wilma Cook
CEDARVILLE — Wilma Lee Cook, 66, of Cedarville died Saturday, April 27, 2002, in a local hospital. She was a homemaker and a lifelong resident of Cedarville and Natural Dam.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Hall cemetery Arbor in Natural Dam under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home in Van Buren.
She is survived by her husband, David; one daughter, Judy of Cedarville; three sons, David W. and Barry Cook, both of Cedarville and Michael of Van Buren; two sisters, Ruby Fain of Natural Dam and Mary J. Wood of Cedarville; one brother, Ernest Ellison of Fort Smith; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Josh McMellon, Corey Cook, Benny Thiltott, Tommy Mankins, Randy Neal and Ernest Ellison.

LAMAR — Ella Mae Carlton, 85, of Lamar died Saturday, April 27, 2002, at Countryside Manor in Lamar. She was a homemaker and a charter member of Lamar Baptist Church. She was the widow of Corby W. Carlton.
A private graveside service will be held 10 a.m. Monday at Lamar cemetery under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home in Clarksville.
She is survived by two daughters, Helen McCartney of Ozark and Linda Rice of Hemet, Calif.; a sister, Catherine Morrison of Lamar; four grandchildren; four greatgrandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Roberta McCaslin
TULSA — Roberta A. “Pete” McCaslin, 75, died Thursday, April 25, 2002, in Tulsa. She was born July 5, 1926, in Stigler, was a resident of Tulsa for the past 50 years and retired from Cascia Hall School as a cook after 30 years of service. She was the widow of Buster McCaslin.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Pentecostal Holiness Church in Stigler with burial at Garland cemetery in Stigler under the direction of Moore Memory Chapel in Tulsa.
She is survived by a daughter, Linda Sue McElroy of Tulsa; a brother, Jackie Harrell of Lithia Springs, Ga. and a sister, Agnes Harrell of Stigler; four grandchildren, Kenneth Sutton, Rodeana Hancock, Daniel McElroy and Tonya McElroy; and three great-grandchildren.
Evelyn R. Saffeels
On Monday, June 24, 2002, Evelyn R. Saffeels departed this life at 77 years of age. Born on June 15, 1925, Evelyn was the daughter of Harry and Edna McIntosh of Clay County, Mo.
On Feb. 2, 1947, Evelyn and Forest were married
in Liberty, Mo. They were married
for 44 years.
Evelyn and Forest moved to Van Buren in the late 1960s. The purchased a farm in Figure Five where they resided for many years. Evelyn was employed as a mortgage loan officer at Peoples Bank, Citizens Bank and later at Robinson Real Estate. Evelyn and Forest were members of St. John’s United Methodist Church and later were instrumental in the merger and building of Heritage United Methodist Church. Evelyn served on many committees of the church as well as helping to develop Heritage Happy Days Day Care Center.
Evelyn is survived by her closest relative a granddaughter, Pattie Smith of Van Buren, her husband David and great-grandson, Joshua Smith. She is also survived by a grandson, Harold Meyer of Murietta, Calif., three other granddaughters of Abilene, Texas, a daughter of Abilene, Texas and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Ocker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Gracelawn cemetery in Van Buren.
Pallbearers will be Benton Cone, Ricky Dickens, Mark Chitwood, Glen Briley, Darrell Shook, Roy Rogers and Danny Rapier.
