Dovie Cummins, 101, of Fort Smith died Tuesday, July 30, 2002, in Fort Smith. She was a retired manager of a Drive-In, a member of the Baptist Church and past president of the VFW. She was the widow of E.O. Cummins.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. today at Woodlawn Memorial Park cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
She is survived by a daughter, Lucille Young of Fort Smith; two sisters, Ida Long of Mansfield and Hilda Payton of California; one grandchild, Olen Gene Furr of Fort Smith; two great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Louise Ball
SALLISAW — Louise Ball, 74, of Sallisaw died Tuesday, July 30, 2002, in a local hospital. She was a homemaker and of the Pentecostal faith. She was the widow of B.C. Ball.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Ocker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Mount McCurry cemetery near Rudy.
She is survived by four daughters, Anita Chambers of Vian, Debbie Bridges of Van Buren, Beverly Beaver of Ozark and Teresa Christie of Sallisaw; five sons, Jack Ball of Fort Smith, Ken and Bill Ball, both of Vian, Wes Ball of Phoenix and Eddie Ball of Hitchcock, Texas; two brothers, Jack Brown of Springdale and Jerry Brown of Alma; 20 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
The family will visit with friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Tommy Wilson
SAN FRANCISCO — Tommy Lee Wilson, 48, of San Francisco, formerly of Fort Smith, died Friday, July 26, 2002, in Fort Smith. He was a security guard.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Mount Moriah Baptist Church. The body will be cremated under the direction of Rowell-Parish Mortuary of Fort Smith.
He is survived by a daughter, Serena Washington of St. Louis; five sisters, Bernice Shelton of Pasadena, Calif., Trina Swinton of Orlando, Fla., Shirley Webb, Kay Williams and Gwendolyn Whitfield, all of Fort Smith; a brother, Robert Wilson of Fort Smith; and two grandchildren.
The body may be viewed noon to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Jerome Albertson
GREENWOOD — Jerome Philip Albertson, 75, of Greenwood died Wednesday, July 31, 2002, in his home. He was a Navy, Air National Guard and World War II veteran and retired from Harding Glass and Rheem.
Funeral will be 11:30 a.m. at McConnell Funeral Home Chapel in Greenwood with burial at U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Velma; a daughter, Kelly Larson of Greenwood; four sons, David Albertson of Fort Smith, Phillip and Keith Albertson, both of Greenwood, and Jim Bynum of Las Vegas; a sister, Iris Rudeseal of Brownwood, Texas; a brother, Wallis Albertson of Dallas; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Micheal Seamans, Phillip, Keith and Bryce Albertson, Jim Bynum and Tom Born.
The body may be viewed 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mary Hobbs
Mary Eagle Hobbs, 80, of Fort Smith died Wednesday, July 31, 2002, in Fort Smith. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the Ladies Auxiliary and Altar Society.
Rosary will be 7 p.m. Friday at Fentress Mortuary Chapel in Fort Smith.
Mass will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with burial at Holy Cross cemetery in Fort Smith.
She is survived by her husband, Charles; two daughters, Richie Phillips of Fort Smith and Mary Jane Hobbs of Bentonville; a son, Richard Hobbs Jr. of Fort Smith; two brothers, Jimmy Eagle of Prescott, Ariz., and Leslie Eagle of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; and 12 grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Frankie Beavers, Terence Kramer, Rick Hobbs, Richard Hobbs Garrison, Mark Edward Garrison, Race Hobbs, Martin Cox Garrison and Don Garrison.
The family will visit with friends after the rosary Friday.
Memorial contributions may be made to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, P.O. Box 1866, Fort Smith, AR 72902.

Walter Collins Minniear
Walter Collins Minniear, born April 17, 1911, died Friday, July 19, 2002, at the age 91, in Pewaukee, Wis.
He is survived by his wife, Mary of Pewaukee, Wis.; his children, Mary Jane and husband, Joe of Delafield, Wis., Ramy Garcia and husband, Daniel of Austin, Texas, Robert Minniear and wife, Bea of Shreveport, La., Tom Minniear and wife, Aline of Baton Rouge, La. and John Minniear and wife, Deanie of Oshkosh, Wis.; a brother, Harry Minniear and wife, Virginia of Indianapolis; 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Organizations over the years; Lions Club of West Monroe, La. past president, Lions Club of Beaumont, Texas, Downtown Rotary Club of Fort Smith, Noon Civics Club, past president, ASCAP, Louisiana Music Educators Association, past president-secretary 1954-1969, Music Educators National Association, life member; honors; Outstanding Educator by LMEA, Inc. in 1969, First High School Musician elected to Hall of Fame in 1983 and Fort Smith Civic Center Honoree.
Teaching career; spanning 58 years started in Lombard, Ill., then to Ouachita Parish High School in Monroe, La., to Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas to Shreveport, La. at Fair Park High School and Captain Shreve High School and finally to Fort Smith as conductor of the Fort Smith Symphony from 1969 to 1984 and teacher and former chairman of the Humanities at Westark Community College now called the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith. He retired in 1987.
A memorial service is planned at a later date through St. John’s Episcopal Church in Fort Smith. Memorial contributions may be made to The University of Arkansas at Fort Smith or St. John’s Episcopal Church in Fort Smith.

Gladys Almon
POTEAU — Gladys Geneva Almon, 80, of Poteau died Wednesday, July 24, 2002, in Fort Smith. She was born Aug. 20, 1921, in Cravens, Okla. She was a homemaker, a member of First Baptist Church in Wister and the widow of Willard Almon.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. today at Wister City cemetery under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.
She is survived by a son, Bob Almon of Poteau; a sister, Opal Platt of Ada, Okla.; and two grandchildren, Kelli Dubois of Russellville and Sharla Gaither of Springdale.

Morgan Howard
OLD SPADRA — Morgan James Howard, 87, of Old Spadra died Wednesday, July 24, 2002, in his home. He was born July 1, 1915, in Spadra. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, a coal miner for 17 years and a member of Coal Hill Masonic Lodge No. 383 for over 50 years.
Graveside service will be 6 p.m. today at Spadra cemetery under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home of Clarksville.
He survived by his wife, Mary; two daughters, Sonya Harp of Fort Smith and Jane Howard of Clarksville; three sons, Morgan Earl and Wendell Howard, both of Clarksville and Bruce Howard of Burk Burnett, Texas; a sister, Mattie Shaffer of Spadra; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Link Childers, David and Douglas Harp, Jeff, Matthew and Mark Howard.
Memorial contributions may be made to Spadra cemetery Association, 1916 Ridgewood Drive, Clarksville, AR 72830 or Spadra Methodist Church, Route 1, Box 324, Hartman, AR 72840.

Rhonda Howard
POTEAU — Rhonda Kaye Morgan Howard, 48, of Poteau died Tuesday, July 23, 2002. She was born Sept. 4, 1953, in Fort Worth, Texas. She worked in the health care as a LPN and was of the Pentecostal faith.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. today at Whitesboro Baptist Church with burial at Whitesboro cemetery under the direction of Grace Manor Funeral Home of Poteau.
She is survived by a daughter, Stephanie Sanderson of Oklahoma City; a son, Matthew Howard of Mustang, Okla.; her mother, Virginia Woolverton of Poteau; a sister, Wanda Cothren of Claremore, Okla.; a brother, Devon Morgan of Holdenville, Okla.; and two grandchildren, Braden Howard of Mustang, Okla. and Cody Sanderson of Oklahoma City.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Doyle and Doug, Devon and Brandon Morgan, James Cothren and Kevin Mings.

Tony Worden
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Tony R. Worden, 42, of Kansas City, Mo. died Monday, July 22, 2002, in Kansas City. He was a chemist for Cook Composites and Polymers Company, a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Fort Smith and the Knights of Columbus.
Mass will be 11 a.m. today at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with burial at Calvary cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Fentress Mortuary of Fort Smith.
He is survived by his parents, Tony and Judy Worden of Fort Smith; two sisters, Holly Weisenfels of Fort Smith and Robin Cohea of Greenwood; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be David Bushkuhl, Rick Gammill, Parker Shaw, Mike Cohea, John Lindquist and John Weisenfels.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Sebastian County Humane Society, P.O. Box 10953, Fort Smith, AR 72917.

Eula Suits
Eula M. Suits, 90, of Fort Smith died Wednesday, July 24, 2002, in Fort Smith. She was a nurses aide for St. Edwards Mercy Medical Center, a member of Haven Heights Baptist Church, the Purple Heart Club and the American Legion. She was the widow of Ralph E. Suits.
Funeral will be noon today at Fentress Mortuary Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith.
She is survived by a sister, Elsie L. Brown of Springdale; two brothers, Winferd Thigpin of Santa Paula, Calif. and Lawrence Thigpin of Pocola.

Delbert Miller
HACKETT — Delbert Lester Miller, 94, of Hackett died Wednesday, July 24, 2002, in Fort Smith. He was Army veteran of World War II, a retired coal miner and mail carrier and a member of United Methodist Church in Bonanza. He was the widower of Dollie Miller.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at McConnell Funeral Home Chapel in Greenwood with burial at White Bluff cemetery in Bonanza.
He is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Rocky Dunn, Paul Irvin, David and Donald Ledbetter, Gene Woolsey and Jerry Basinger.
The body may be viewed 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Effie Fisher
Effie Evelyn “Granny” Fisher, 92, of Fort Smith died Thursday, July 25, 2002, in a local nursing home. She was born June 30, 1910, in Booneville. She was a homemaker and a member of Phoenix Village Baptist Church.
Graveside will be 9:30 a.m. Saturday at White Bluff cemetery in Bonanza under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Fort Smith.
She is survived by three daughters, Doris Evelyn Bryant of Van Buren, Wanda Faye Bass of Rogers and Margarette Ann Mathis of Spiro; four sons, Howard Lee Fisher of Bonanza, Billy Wayne Fisher of Fort Smith, Joseph Charles Fisher of Spiro and Kenneth Ray Fisher of Alma; 20 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Howard “Buzzy”, Mike and Douglas Fisher, Buddy Allison, Joe Mathis and Debbi Watkins.
The family will visit with friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Ernestine Cotton
Ernestine Cotton, 74, of Fort Smith died Tuesday, July 23, 2002, in a local hospital. She was a member of King Solomon Christian Center.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Saturday at King Solomon Christian Center with burial at Forest Park cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Rowell-Parish Mortuary of Fort Smith.
She is survived by her husband, Charles; a son, Roy Manager of Fort Smith; two stepdaughters, Shirley Hughes of Fort Smith and Delois Tate of Altus; three stepsons, Charles H. Cotton and Michael Alston, both of Fort Smith and Carl L. Cotton of Clarksville; a sister, Ruth Haynes McCarty of Port Lavaca, Texas; 26 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Billy Hughes, Charles H. Cotton, Don Willis, Wallace McGee, Carl Armington and T.J. Berryman.
The family will visit with friends at 2221 North 30th Street.

Tevin Thomas
Tevin Douglass Thomas, infant son of Clyde Thomas and Angela Silva of Fort Smith, died Tuesday, July 23, 2002, in his home.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Woodlawn Chapel with burial at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Fort Smith under the direction of Rowell-Parish Mortuary of Fort Smith.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a twin sister, Tannea and Keaira, Kaitlyn and Hailey Thomas; two brothers, Kaelin Owens and Darrien Thomas; his grandparents, Gloria Silva, John and Ruth Ann Silva and Mary Thomas.
The family will visit with friends at 3201 Briarcliff Avenue.
