Ruby Jean Kreipke Morris
Ruby Jean Kreipke Morris, 77, of Fort Smith died Sunday, June, 9, 2002, in Fort Smith. She was a member of Grand Avenue Baptist Church, VFW Auxiliary, a member and past president of the Eagles Auxiliary Area No. 208, member of the Eastern Star and was a Mother Advisor for the Rainbows. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Lee Morris.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith.
She is survived by her dog, “My little Angel”, two daughters, Jeannie Hofrichter of Fort Smith and Pamela Rose Hanna of Spiro; four sons, Robert Paul Morris and Phillip Lee Morris, both of Fort Smith, Michael Wayne Morris of Kibler and Clyde Louis Morris of Fort Smith; a sister, Doris Clyma of Van Buren; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Graham, Buster Moore, Scotty Remler, Charlie Hanna, Rudy Moredock, Harold Kimbrell and Don Kreipke.
The family will visit with friends from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Donald Slater
WALDRON — Donald Ray Slater, 54, of Waldron died Saturday, June 8, 2002, in a Fayetteville hospital. He was a Vietnam veteran, attended the New Life Center and was of the Pentecostal faith.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at New Life Center with burial at Lamb cemetery near Waldron under the direction of Martin Funeral Home of Waldron.
He is survived by a daughter, Melinda Slater May of Waldron; three sons, Donald Lee and Samuel Slater, both of Walrdon, and Herbert Benjamin Isaac Slater of Acorn; three sisters, Jeweline Lovett and Wilma Smith, both of Waldron, and Eva Denny of Des Moines, Iowa; and four grandchildren.

Robert Drake
ROLAND — Robert L. Drake, 69, of Roland died Saturday, June 8, 2002, in Muskogee, Okla. He was a veteran of the Korean War, retired from Riverside Furniture repair department after 28 years and was a Protestant.
Graveside service will be 1 p.m. today at U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Roland.
He is survived by his wife, Bobbie; four daughters, Robyn Marshall and Carol Jane Biggerstaff, both of Roland, Susan Sanders of Fort Smith and Vicki Drake of Tulsa; a son, Robert “Bob” “Drake of Roland; two sisters, Lucille Hilliard of Fresno, Calif. and Ruby Trantham of Cedarville; two brothers, John and David Drake, both of Riverdale, Calif.; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Woods, John Marshall, Levi and Eddie Biggerstaff, Clifford West and Mike Sanders.
The body may be viewed 9 a.m. to noon today at the funeral home.

Viola Richey
MENA — Viola M. “Put” Richey, 74, of Mena died Sunday, June 9, 2002, in Mena. She was born Jan. 24, 1928, in Boles. She was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. today at Walnut Grove cemetery in Black Fork under the direction of Beasley-Wood Funeral Home of Mena.
She is survived by her husband, Giles; three daughters, Sharon Armijo of New Mexico, Glenda Bilbo of Nella and Mary Lou Williams of Mena; five sons, Dewey, Danny, Jerry and Monte Richey, all of Mena, and Furlon Richey of New Mexico; two sisters, Mary Cox of Mena and Juanita Suther of Oregon; half sister, Bonnie Scott of Waldron; four brothers, Jay, Alvin, Dale and Darrell Wilhite, all of Mena; 21 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Melvin Harrison, Norman, Tony and Dennis Wilhite, Bill Hannaman and Dink Heath

James Cowan
HEAVENER — James Edward Cowan, 79, of Heavener died Saturday, June 8, 2002, in Poteau. He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene and the widower of Doris Cowan.
Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Howe cemetery in Howe under the direction of Dowden Funeral Home of Heavener.
He is survived by two daughters, June Bandy of Heavener and Regina Pennington of Lyman, Wyo.; a son, Jimmy Don Cowan of Heavener; a sister, Hazel Benson of Howe; a brother, Basil of Poteau; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Iva Cook
FAYETTEVILLE — Iva Riggins Cook, 80, of Fayetteville died Saturday, June 8, 2002, in Fayetteville. She was born July 3, 1921, in Thompson. She was a homemaker and attended Wedington Drive United Pentecostal Church.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home in Fayetteville with burial at Highland cemetery.
She is survived by her husband, Chester; two daughters, Linda Niccum and Joye Baker, both of Fayetteville; two sons, Frank H. Gabbard of Farmington and Steve Rogers of Van Buren; a sister, Mary Helen Long of Fayetteville; 10 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
The body may be viewed noon to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will visit with friends from 7 to 8 p.m.

Walter Reed Jr.
Walter Bentley Reed Jr., 71, of Van Buren died Sunday, June 9, 2002, in a local hospital. He was a Air Force veteran of the Korean War, retired from Southwestern Glass Plant and was of the Assembly of God faith. He was the widower of Lavonna Reed.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
He is survived by a daughter, Linda Reed of Oklahoma City; four sons, Mark Bentley, Michael and Matthew Reed, all of Oklahoma City, and Richard Patrick Reed of Hannibal, Mo.; a sister, Gloria Belcher of Van Buren; a brother, Jimmy Reed of Van Buren; and several grandchildren.

Dr. Richard Meskill
Dr. Richard A. Meskill, 55, of Fort Smith died Sunday, June 9, 2002, in his home. He was a chiropractor practicing at Meskill Chiropractic Clinic. He was a member of Harvest Time Tabernacle Church, the Christian Chiropractors Association and the Arkansas Chiropractors Association.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Putman Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at Woodland Memorial Park in Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Pamela; a daughter, Julia Meskill of Springfield, Mo.; a son, Justin Meskill of Fort Smith; his parents, Eugene and Betty Meskill of Clearwater, Fla.; two sisters, Carla Meskill of Marlboro, Vt., and Terry Chandler of Clearwater, Fla.; and two grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Juan Flores, Stan Andrews, John Taylor, Ricky Haeberle, David Webster and Walter Plummer.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Maudie Little
BOKCHITO, Okla. — Maudie Little, 99, of Bokchito, Okla., formerly of Eagleton, died Friday, June 7, 2002, in Oklahoma. She was born Jan. 13, 1903, in Caddo Gap. She was a homemaker and was a member of Assembly of God. She was the widow of John Angus Little.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. today at Eagleton cemetery under the direction of Beasley-Wood Funeral Home of Mena.
She is survived by four daughters, Phyllis Atteberry of Garland, Texas, Tommie Rowan of Bokchito, Okla., Daisy Jones of Mena and Evelyn Little of Willis Point, Texas; a son, John Little of Lubbock, Texas; 19 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and 23 great-great-grandchildren.

Mabel Smith
Mabel Hall Smith, 99, of Fort Smith died Monday, June 10, 2002, in a local nursing home. She was a retired secretary for Travelers Insurance Company, a member of First United Methodist Church and a lifetime member of Woodsmen of the World.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Roebuck Chapel of First United Methodist Church with burial at Hillcrest cemetery in Ardmore, Okla., under the direction of Putman Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
She is survived by three grandchildren, Judy Townsend of Van Buren, Diana Hill of Mulberry and Alana Schwarz of Oklahoma City; six great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

Ruby Littleton
SALLISAW — Ruby Littleton, 69, of Sallisaw died Monday, June 10, 2002, in Sallisaw. She was born Sept. 15, 1932, in Hartford. She was a clerical worker for the Capital Office with the State of California and a Protestant.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Agent Funeral Home Chapel in Sallisaw with burial at Akins cemetery in Sallisaw.
She is survived by her husband, Pal; a daughter, Brenda Ward of Roseville, Calif.; two sons, David Hansard of Orangeville, Calif., and Roger Hansard of Sacramento, Calif.; four stepdaughters, Teresa Wells of Lebanon, Iowa, Debra Gibbons and Cynthia Horstman, both of Sacramento, Calif., and Brenda Wallace of Jackson, Calif.; a stepson, Mark Littleton of Sacramento, Calif.; three sisters, Leona Roff of Moore, Okla., Pat Higgins of Oklahoma City and Sybil Scruby of Oroville, Calif.; a brother, Charley McDonald of Oklahoma City; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Stella Jones
Stella Mae Jones, 86, of Van Buren died Monday, June 10, 2002, in her home. She was a homemaker, a cook supervisor for Van Buren Public Schools and a member of Heritage United Methodist Church in Van Buren. She was the widow of Olen Jones.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Gracelawn cemetery in Van Buren under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
She is survived by two sons, Gary and Jim Jones, both of Van Buren; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Kenney Long
PALESTINE — Kenney “Kenny” Long, 17, of Palestine, died Saturday, June 8, 2002. He was born Nov. 24, 1984, in Fort Smith. He was a student at Palestine High School.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. today at Stevens Funeral Home of Forrest City with burial at Bell cemetery.
He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sammy Long of Palestine; a sister, Katie Long of Palestine; maternal grandparents, Kenneth and Sadie Kate Hill of Fort Smith; and his maternal great-grandmother, Corrine Hill of Pineville, La.

Grace Rogers
Grace Rogers, 84, of Fort Smith died Sunday, June 9, 2002, in Fort Smith. She was a member of Calvary Assembly of God, a Sunday school secretary for Calvary Assembly of God, a former president for Women’s Missionaries for Calvary Assembly of God and a store owner for Rogers Grocery. She was the widow of Clifford Ray Rogers.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Fentress Mortuary Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at Baxley cemetery in Paris.
She is survived by two daughters, JoAnne Bellchambers of Irving, Texas, and Virginia Brown of Glenpool, Okla.; a son, Frank Rogers of Fort Smith; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be J.T., Elmer, Harold, Bob and Brian Rogers and Wesley Redding.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mary Stewart
Mary L. Stewart, 85, of Fort Smith died Sunday, June 9, 2002, in her home. She was a retired school teacher. She taught at DuVall and Tilles Elementary Schools and St. John’s Catholic School and was a member of Mount Zion C.M.E. Church.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Mount Zion C.M.E. Church with burial at Oak cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Rowell-Parish Mortuary of Fort Smith.
She is survived by a daughter, Mary Henry Steward of Tulsa; a grandchild, Edward Steward of Fort Smith; aniece Mary Dixon; and two nephews, Rocky and Ronnie Dixon.
Pallbearers will be William Lester, Kevin Talley, Trafton Thompson, Herbert Norwood, Leon Thompson Jr. and Sam Stringer.
The family will visit with friends at 2001 North 9th Street.

Robert White
SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Robert Lee White, 57, of Sacramento, Calif., formerly of Alma, died Monday, June 3, 2002, in Sacramento.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Zion Missionary Baptist Church with burial at Lewis cemetery in Alma under the direction of Rowell-Parish Mortuary of Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Arthony; three daughters, Jackie, Linda and Sydney White, all of Sacramento, Calif.; and a sister, Mary Lee Owens of Alma.
Pallbearers will be James Cole, Earl Steward, Charles and Anthony White, Mitchell Parker and Ethan Perry.

Maggie Bartlett
DARDANELLE — Maggie Bartlett, 90, of Dardanelle died Sunday, June 9, 2002, in Russellville. She was born July 21, 1911, in Spiro. She was a homemaker and a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Dardanelle.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Shinn Funeral Service Chapel in Russellville with burial at Brearley cemetery in Dardanelle.
She is survived by four daughters, Hazel Burris of Fort Smith, Bobbie Cole and Genelda Osburn, both of Russellville, and Patsy Pledger of Dover; two sons, Irvin Dewane Bartlett of Darrington, Wash. and Paul Bartlett of Dardanelle; 19 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
The family will visit with friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
