Carrie Tucker
Carrie Mae Tucker, 92, of Fort Smith died Sunday, Jan. 27, 2002, in a local nursing home. She was born Jan. 19, 1920, in Russellville. She was a homemaker and a member of First Pentecostal Holiness.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at Roselawn cemetery in Fort Smith.
She is survived by her husband, James; a son, Charles Bingham of Carrollton, Texas; three stepdaughters, Carolyn Ansley of Seattle, Marilyn Atkerson of El Centro, Calif. and Linda Melton of Alma; two stepsons, Jimmie A. Tucker of Mesa, Ariz., and Jerry W. Tucker of Renton, Wash.; a sister, Ruby Rodriquez of Fort Smith; three grandchildren, 19 stepgrandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Rodney, Richard and Phil Melton, Claude Reese, Mike Bingham and Franklin Atkerson.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
James Smith
HAMILTON, Ohio — James J. Smith, 80, of Hamilton, Ohio, formerly of Van Buren, died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2002, in Hamilton. He was born June 29, 1921, in Coffeyville, Kan. He was a retired major from the Air Force and a veteran of World War II and the 
Korean War and retired from Boeing Aircraft in Seattle. Funeral will be 1 p.m. Wednesday in Greenwood cemetery Chapel in Hamilton with burial at Greenwood cemetery under the direction of Brown-Dawson Funeral Home of Hamilton, Ohio.
He is survived by his wife, Arietta; a daughter, Jimmie Leigh Rusk of Florida; a son, James Smith; two sisters, Arlene Coplen of Fort Smith and Alene Tankersley of Fayetteville; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The family will visit with friends from 12:30 to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel before the service.

DALLAS — Peggy Jacobs Crockett, 74, of Dallas died Sunday, Jan. 27, 2002, in her home. She was born March 27, 1927, in Paris. She attended the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville and was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority graduating with a degree in psychology. She was a homemaker.
Memorial service will be 3 p.m. Wednesday in Northaven United Methodist Church in Dallas under the direction of Restland Funeral Home of Dallas.
She is survived by her husband, Charles; a daughter, Carol of Texas; a son, Scott of Texas; and three grandchildren, Chris, Brett and May.

Roger Allen Kuykendall Jr., infant son of Sandy and Roger Kuykendall of Van Buren, died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2002, in a Little Rock hospital.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in Chastain cemetery Arbor in Chastain Community north of Dyer under the directions of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a sister, Katelyn Kuykendall of the home; his paternal grandparents, Barbara and Larry Elkins of Alma and Gordon Kuykendall of Mulberry; maternal grandparents, Patricia and Luigi DiMarco of Mulberry and William Ray Polly of Mulberry; paternal great-grandparents, Fannie Rodgers of Alma, Wayland and Jenece Kuykendall of Mulberry; maternal great-grandparents, Louise Polly of Mulberry, Ruth Campbell of Alma and William Oliver McCollum of Mulberry.

POCOLA — Lee Elbert Hemby, 84, of Pocola died Sunday, Jan. 27, 2002, in a local nursing home. He was retired from St. Edward Mercy Medical Center and a member of Southside Nazarene Church in Fort Smith.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in Southside Nazarene Church in Fort Smith with burial at Macedonia cemetery in Pocola under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood.
He is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Robert and Josh Gillooley, Johnny and Jeffery Smack, Danny Conn and Mitchell Henry.

Crystal Lynn Ashworth, infant daughter of Jennifer Ann Carr and Marcus Shawn Ashworth of Fort Smith, died Friday, Jan. 25, 2002, in Fort Smith.

Mrs. Ora Lewis, 94, of Alma died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2002, in her home. She was a homemaker and a member of Maple Shade Church of the Nazarene. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Lewis, a daughter, Mary Louise Lewis and a son, Russell Farrell Lewis.
Funeral was held Monday in Maple Shade Church of the Nazarene with burial at Newberry cemetery in Alma under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.
She is survived by a daughter, Freda Mae Smith of Alma; four grandchildren, Scheryl Ann Dotson of Van Alstyne, Texas, Douglas Keith Smith of Alma, Karen Elaine and Russell Dewayne Lewis, both of San Antonio and four great-grandchildren.
Herschel Johnson
Herschel Johnson, 75, of Van Buren died Sunday, Jan. 27, 2002, in a local nursing home. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and a retired printer for Dixie Cup and a member of the Pace No. 5-0656 local union and a member of Westark Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patsy Johnson and a brother, Guy “Jack” Johnson.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in Ocker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Gracelawn cemetery in Van Buren.
He is survived by three daughters, Deborah Strong of Van Buren, Phyllis Porter of Norman, Okla., and Marsha Johnson of Oklahoma City; a son, Jimmy Johnson of Van Buren; five sisters, Shirley Ann Shoppach and Patsy Minish, both of Fort Smith, Joyce Thomas, Wanda Fagan and Louise Newton, all of Van Buren; three brothers, Robert, Richard and Danny Johnson, all of Van Buren; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

David O. “Dave” McGee
David O. “Dave” McGee died at home in Van Buren on Sunday, Jan. 27, 2002, at the age of 80. He retired from the Marine Corps after serving 25 years. During that time, he served in the South Pacific in World War II, in Korea during the
Korean War and in Vietnam. He was proud to have served his country for that length of time. During his military career, he received the following decorations, Asiatic Pac Medal, Good Conduct Medal, American Theatre, Korean Service W/1, Korean Presidential Unit Citation, United Nations Personal Citation, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnamese Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Service Medal, Pistol Expert Badge and Rifle Expert Badge.
After he retired from the Marine Corps, he worked for 12 years as a career counselor for the state of Louisiana and for three years he taught High School Vocational Training in Louisiana. Dave was a member of Kibler Road Church of God and the VFW.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Thursday in Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel in Van Buren with burial at U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith with full military honors.
Dave is survived by his wife of 58 years, Maxine of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Helen and Ronald Medley of Fort Smith; two sons, David of Van Buren and Donald of Mukilteo, Wash.; four grandchildren, Dustin, Brian, Angela and Pamela Medley; a sister and brother-in-law, Lotus and Brantley Cagle of Lake Charles, La., and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Charles McCord, Earl Summerhill, Layton Davis, Jim Morland, Layne Hurst and Eugene Morse.

Wayne Kinsey
MULDROW — Wayne Kinsey, 70, of Muldrow died Friday, Feb. 22, 2002, in a Little Rock hospital. He was born Nov. 2, 1931. He worked for the federal Bureau of Reclamation for 37 1/2 years and was a reserve deputy for the Kern County Sheriff’s Office for 25 years, police chief of Gans for 11 years, a 32nd-degree Mason at Lodge No. 309 in Delano, Calif., and a Baptist.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday in Evans & Miller Funeral Home Chapel of Memories in Poteau with burial at Old Bokoshe cemetery in Bokoshe.
He is survived by his wife, Betty; three sons, Dr. Gary Kinsey of Fresno, Calif., Steve D. Kinsey of Delano and Randy Kinsey of Loveland, Colo.; a sister, Sue Odom of Shady Point; a brother, Gaylon of Muldrow; eight grandchildren, four step-grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Ruth Nolan McKown, 63, of Fort Smith died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2002, in a local hospital. She was a member of the Pentecostal Outreach Ministries in Muldrow and a former nurse’s aide at Sparks Regional Medical Center. She was the widow of Richard Nolan.
Funeral will be 3 p.m. Tuesday in Ocker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Gracelawn cemetery in Van Buren.
She is survived by her husband, Charles; five daughters, Janice Barnett, Sharon Sims, Brenda Hickey, Karen Eisen and Veronica Martinez, all of Fort Smith; a stepdaughter, Sharon Fade of Wichita, Kan.; a stepson, Charles Ray McKown of Wichita; five sisters, Sue Mathews, Jane Kinney and Shirley London, all of Sallisaw, Barbara Maclemore of Fort Smith and Lola Tuck of Roland; two brothers, Amos Eubanks of Fort Smith and Paul “Bud” Eubanks Jr. of Roland; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Elsie Maude Denton, 98, of Fort Smith, formerly of Waldron, died Sunday, Feb. 24, 2002, in a Fort Smith nursing home. She was a homemaker, a Baptist and a member of the Eastern Star.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in Martin Funeral Home Chapel in Waldron with burial at Sehorn cemetery in Waldron.
She is survived by a daughter, Isabelle Redding of Fort Smith; and several nieces and nephews.

PARIS — Mary Magline Sanders, 78, of Paris died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2002, in Morrilton. She was a homemaker, a Baptist and was born Sept. 22, 1923, in Paris.

She is survived by three daughters, Katie Heller of Burbank, Calif., Mary Frances Collins of Morrilton and Brenda Berry of Paris; two sons, Stacey Swims and Wesley Allan Sanders of Paris; three sisters, Lillian O’Neal, Lillie Fryn and Lindy Brown, all of Bakersfield, Calif.; two brothers, Bill Stafford of Porterville, Calif., and Jake Stafford of Bakersfield; 12 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Pauline Taylor
SALLISAW — Pauline Taylor, 80, of Sallisaw died Friday, Feb. 22, 2002, in Sallisaw. She was a homemaker, a retired cook for Sallisaw schools with 30 years of service and of the Holiness faith. She was the widow of George Washington Taylor.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in Agent Funeral Home Chapel in Sallisaw with burial at Buffington cemetery west of Sallisaw.
She is survived by five sons, Richard Lee Taylor, Tommy Ray Taylor Sr. and Jimmy Harold Taylor, all of Sallisaw, Johnny Carrol Taylor of Owasso, Okla., and Billy Wayne Taylor of Tulsa; a sister, Louise West of Springdale; two brothers, Bobby Gene Wilson of Bartlesville, Okla., and Donald Ray Wilson of Sallisaw; 13 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

CAMERON — George Louie “Tobe” Gaither, 71, of Cameron died Sunday, Feb. 24, 2002, in a Fort Smith hospital. He was a retired construction worker and was baptized at the Liberty Hill Baptist Church.

She is survived by five daughters, Lorene Branham and Plina Copeland, both of Sallisaw, Carolyn Fowler of Roland, Christene Cagle of Claremore, Okla., and Maydene Lisenbee of Owasso, Okla.; three sons, John Ollis of Sallisaw, Henry Davis of Brushy, Okla., and Dennis Davis of St. Joe, Ariz.; a stepsister, Lillie Asbill of Sallisaw; six stepdaughters, Lou, Hester Davis of Tahlequah, Okla., Sylvia Hines, Thelma Hill and Velma Banks, all of Sallisaw, and Eula Poindexter of Brushy; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Mildred A. Wagner, 89, of Fort Smith died Sunday, Feb. 24, 2002, in Fort Smith. She was a homemaker and a member of the Calvary Baptist Church. She was the widow of Floyd Wagner.
The body will be cremated with burial at Forest Park cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith. A memorial graveside service will be set at a later date.
She is survived by a stepdaughter, Patricia Myers of Riverside, Calif.; a stepson, Floyd Lee Wagner of Riverside; a sister, Mary Bauer of Fort Smith; and several nieces and nephews.

MULDROW — Charlie Earl Buck, 79, of Muldrow died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2002, in Fort Smith. He was a retired ticket agent and dispatcher for Continental Trailways and a member of Sebastian Lodge and the Scottish Rite Bodies.

He is survived by his wife, Reba; a daughter, Debbie Sharp of Fort Smith; two sisters, Mildred Linehart of Kingsman, Ariz., and Damaris Douglas of Paris; two brothers, Elmer of Paris and Alvin of Fort Smith; seven grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.
