Joan Ladd

Joan Ladd, 73, of Fort Smith died Sunday, March 24, 2002, in a Fort Smith hospital. She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church, the Amputee Support Group, owner of Living Tree Wellness Clinic and a retired registered nurse/nurse practitioner for St. Edward Mercy Medical Center. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eamil Ladd; a daughter, Kristine Evans; and a son, David Ladd.

Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Saint John’s Episcopal Church in Fort Smith. Arrangements under the direction of Fentress Mortuary of Fort Smith.

She is survived by a daughter, Lisa Laird of Fort Smith; four sons, William Ladd of Dover, James and Clifton Ladd, both of Fort Smith, and Jon Ladd of Nashville, Tenn.; 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Saint Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church, 2901 Old Greenwood Road, Fort Smith, AR 72903 or Diabetes Education Center at Sparks, c/o Kay Voss, director of administrative services, Sparks Regional Medical Center, 1311 S. Lois Bond

Lois Bond, 72, of Van Buren died Tuesday, March 26, 2002, in a local hospital. She was a former employee of Tyson Foods Hatcheries, a homemaker and a member of Grandview Assembly of God in Natural Dam.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. today in Grandview Assembly of God in Natural Dam with burial at Hall cemetery in Natural Dam under the direction of Ocker Funeral home of Van Buren.

She is survived by a daughter, Vera Russell of Van Buren; two sons, J.B. and Randy Bond, both of Natural Dam; a sister, Sylvia Fain of Van Buren; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Clifford, Luther and Floyd Mongold, Don and Mike Murphy, Gary Floyd, David Tudor, Cecil Bond and Kenneth Shelly.

Cullen Baldridge

MARBLE CITY — Cullen Lee Baldridge, 54, of Marble City died Wednesday, March 27, 2002, in Marble City.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. today in Mallory Funeral Home Chapel in Sallisaw with burial at Peters cemetery in Sallisaw.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn; two sons, Roger Gene Flute of Vian and Cullen of Stilwell; his father, Willie Baldridge of Marble City; four sisters, Bernice Roach of Tahlequah, Okla., Carla Stopt of Vian, Vivian Johnson and Norma Baldridge, both of Stilwell, Okla.; four brothers, Eugene of Marble City, Ronald and Donald, both of Stilwell, Okla., and Sherman of Tahlequah, Okla.; and two grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Sherman and Keith Baldridge, Larry Hines, Leonard Johnson, Bill Martin, Roger Flute, Jay Lee and Joe Reneau.

The body may be viewed at the funeral home.

Hollie Allison

Hollie JoAnn Allison, 27, of Fort Smith died Tuesday, March 26, 2002, in a local hospital. She was born June 12, 1974, in Lynnwood, Calif. She was a saleslady for Dillard’s.

Graveside service will be 10 a.m. today at Hall cemetery in Natural Dam under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Fort Smith.

She is survived by her husband, Marc; a daughter, Kait Lynn of the home; her parents, Terry and Margaret Johnson of Van Buren; two sisters, Melanie Shelm of Fort Smith and Teresa Johnson of Van Buren; her grandparents, James and Margie Chapman of Fort Smith; and her paternal grandparents, Gerald Johnson and Ruby Perkins.

Richard Dunn

ARKOMA — Richard W. Dunn, 75, of Arkoma died Wednesday, March 27, 2002, in his home. He was born Feb. 10, 1927. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and a retired bus driver.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Gillam cemetery in Huntington under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Fort Smith.

He is survived by a daughter, Shirley Grizzle of Vandiver, Ala.; three sisters, Alby Dunn of Sallisaw, Edna Oliver of Arkoma and Betty Gibson of Idabell, Okla.; five brothers, Fred of Arkoma, Harold of Broken Arrow, Okla., John of Omaha, Texas, Jimmy and Larry, both of Oklahoma City; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Allen Hunsaker

MENA — Allen W. Hunsaker, 85, of Mena died Wednesday, March 27, 2002, in Mena. He was born Oct. 7, 1916, in Potter. He attended Dublin High School in Texas, was a lieutenant colonel in the Air Force and served during World War II and the Vietnam War.

Graveside service will be 10 a.m. today at Pinecrest Memorial Park under the direction of Beasley-Wood Funeral Home of Mena.

He is survived by a brother, Pirtle Hunsaker of Cisco, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.

Bobby Spencer

Bobby Gene Spencer, 62, of Fort Smith died Wednesday, March 27, 2002, in Fort Smith.

Graveside service will be 10 a.m. today at Salem cemetery in Cedarville under the direction of Fentress Mortuary of Fort Smith.

He is survived by two sisters, Linda Spencer of Fort Smith and Alma Waite of La Puente, Calif.; and a brother, William Spencer of Fort Smith.

Jimmy Branham

BARLING — Jimmy Boyd Branham, 67, of Barling died Tuesday, March 26, 2002, in Dallas. He was retired from El Paso Natural Gas after 35 years.

Funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday in McConnell Funeral Home Chapel in Greenwood with burial at Hartford Memorial Park in Hartford.

He is survived by his wife, Jeanette of Beeville, Texas; four daughters, Audrey Lee Gibbs of Plano, Texas, Paula Jean Holliday of Ripley, Miss., Valorie Lynn Blevins of Skiatook, Okla., and Karla Renee Chapman of Eunice, N.M.; a son, Kevin Branham of Albuquerque, N.M.; three sisters, Thelma Harris of Greenwood, Sue Hitt of Danville and Shirley Wohl of Barling; four brothers, Billy Branham of Cypress, Calif., Raymond Branham of Tulsa, Leroy Branham of Spiro and Tommy Branham of Danville; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Flynn Williams, James Harris, Jason Broom and David Brown, Kevin Wood and Charles Hilburn.

The body may be viewed 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Naomi Solomon

Naomi Solomon, 83, of Waldron passed away Saturday, March 30, 2002, in a Waldron hospital. She was born July 21, 1918, in Scott County and was a retired employee of the State of Arkansas and a member of First Baptist Church of Waldron.

She is survived by a sister, Elva Newborn of Waldron; two nephews, Bill and Paul Newborn, both of Waldron; six great-nieces, Elaine Standridge, Jalene Casias, Shannon Hodge, Regina Hutchens, LeAnn Brigance and Michelle Kenner; one great-nephew, Lynn Neborn; nine great-great-nephews and six great-great-nieces, Zach Hutchens, Ashley Standridge, K.J. Standridge, Maegan, Tori and David Hodge, Jennifer and Jack Brigance, Jon-Paul and Carter Casias, Trenton, Taylor and Kaitlin Keener, Sandy McCarley, Greg Newborn and one great-great-great-nephew, Alex McCarley.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. today, April 1, in Waldron First Baptist Church with Rev. Frank Thurman officiating. Interment will be at Plot Prairie cemetery under the direction of Martin Funeral Home in Waldron.Viewing will be from 3 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

William Claphan

RUDY — William H. Claphan, 90, of Rudy died Saturday, March 30, 2002, in his home. He was retired from Riverside Furniture and a member of the First Baptist Church in Cedarville, a lifelong resident of Crawford County, the widower of Lena Claphan and a veteran of World War II.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Ocker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Dripping Springs cemetery.

He is survived by a daughter, Laura Mae Deffenbaugh of Van Buren; a sister, Marie Webb of Figure Five; a brother, Melvin Claphan of Kansas; six grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be John Belcher Jr., Johnny Ray Barnes, Carl and Jerry Webb, Jimmy Hightower and Melvin Williams.

Joseph DeVine

LIVERMORE, CALIF. — Joseph William DeVine Sr., 73, of Livermore died Thursday, March 28, 2002, in Livermore. He was retired from the Bureau of Reclamation in California and a member of the Primitive Baptist Church.

Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Union Ridge cemetery in Dayton under the direction of Martin Funeral Home of Mansfield.

He is survived by his wife, Hazel of Watsonville, Calif.; a daughter, Katy Jedlicka of Mount Hermon, Calif.; two sons, Joseph of San Jose, Calif. and Jeffery of Aptos, Calif.; a brother, Tom of Tahoe, Calif.; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Joe and John Green, John Boyd, Bob McCay, Gary James and Larry Goines.

The body may be viewed from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Harry Cash

Harry E. Cash, 87, of Fort Smith died Saturday, March 30, 2002, in a local hospital. He was a charter member of Western Hills United Methodist Church in Little Rock, a lifetime member of the Rosedale Optimist Club, was employed at Railway Express Agency for 38 years and a 32nd degree Mason.

Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Forest Hills Memorial Park in Little Rock under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Fort Smith.

He is survived by his wife, Reba; three sons, Gaylon of Fort Smith and David and Steve, both of Decatur, GA.; a brother, Verlon of Knoxville, Tenn.; four grandchildren, Kimberly Been, Lisa Tinney, Brad and Alyssa Cash and seven great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Douglas Been, Steve Tinney, Rodney Parnell, Kay and Kip Reep and Tim Johnson.

Memorial contributions may be made to Western Hills United Methodist Church, 4601 Western Hills Ave., Little Rock, AR 72204.

Elizabeth Nelson

CLARKSVILLE — Dr. Elizabeth Buffalo Nelson, 32, of Clarksville died Thursday, March 28, 2002, in her home. She was born Nov. 4, 1969, in Fayetteville and was a graduate of Carlisle High School, University of Arkansas at Fayetteville and University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock. She did her residency in Fort Smith, was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority at the University of Arkansas and was a family practice physician at Clarksville Medical Group.

Funeral will be noon Tuesday at Church of Christ in Clarksville with burial 4 p.m. Tuesday at Hebron cemetery in Clarksville under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home in Clarksville.

She is survived by her husband, Andy; two daughters, Lauren and Alexis of the home; her parents, Richard and Dianne Buffalo of Carlisle; her grandparents, Dorothy Buffalo and Bob and Betty Parker, all of Carlisle; two sisters, Suzanne Bible of Tampa, Fla., and Alexandria Buffalo of Carlisle and a brother, Richard Buffalo of Carlisle.

The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Alene Tankersley

FAYETTEVILLE — Alene Tankersley, 78, of Fayetteville died March 30, 2002, at her home. She was born Feb. 12, 1924, in Van Buren, the daughter of James amd Elizabeth Smith, moved to Fayeteville in 1961 and was a member of University Baptist Church, Merry Hearts of UBC, Busy Bees Extension Club, Washington Regional Medical Center Hospital Auxiliary, Wycliff Bible Associates, Washington County Republican Women, National Republican Women and Prime Timers of Christian Life Cathedral. She sold Tupperware, was an Avon distributor and worked for Campbell-Bell, Boston Store and Beale Ladyman.

Funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at University Baptist Church in Fayetteville with graveside service at 3 p.m. at Gracelawn cemetery in Van Buren under the direction of Beard’s Funeral Chapel in Fayetteville.

She is survived by two sons, David B. Tankersley of Goshen and Mark L. Tankersley of Fayetteville; a sister, Arlene Coplen of Fort Smith; three grandchildren, Stacy Hutchins of Raleigh, N.C., Michelle Fahy of Tamworth, New South Wales, Australia, and Jeremy Tankersley of Fayetteville; and five great-grandchildren.

The family will visit with friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Gideons International, P.O. Box 3022, Fayetteville, AR 72702.

Ralph W. “Robby” Robinson

Ralph W. “Robby” Robinson, age 55, of Van Buren went to be with the Lord on Monday, April 1. 2002, at his home surrounded by his loving family and friends.

He was the owner of Mister Pickup and was the son of the late Honorable Judge Ralph W. “Cotton” Robinson and Virginia Meek Robinson. He was a founding member of Butterfield Assembly of God Church in Van Buren. His goal in life was to help people and to be there for his friends and family. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He truly cared about people and others around him. He will be missed greatly but never forgotten. The family and friends of Robby feel blessed to have been in his life and to have had him in theirs.

Funeral will be 11 a.m. today in Butterfield Assembly of God in Van Buren with burial at Gill cemetery in Van Buren under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.

He is survived by his wife and best friend Sue; daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie and Joey Cowin of Mountainburg, daughter and son-in-law, Amanda and Donald McCracken of Las Vegas; his sister, Martha Robinson of Van Buren; a niece, Lisa K. Robinson and a nephew, Ross Robinson, both of Van Buren; and two grandchildren, Lacey Cowin of Mountainburg and Zack McCracken of Las Vegas. A special friend and relative, Laney Robinson Hogg, also survives him.

Active pallbearers will be John Pageant, Bill George, Larry McNeese, Charley Anderson, Chris Weiche and Eddie Newton.

Honorary pallbearers will be Roy Beebe, Gordon Jennings, Burl Lamproe, Paul Gant, Bobby Gilstrap, Gene Powell, James Richesin, Richard Emberton, Ken Hardcastle, Hubert Blankenship, Ronnie Capelle, Allen Kaylor, Bill Vickery and Dr. Charles Jennings.

Memorial contributions may be made to Butterfield Assembly of God Benevolence Fund, 1302 N. 30th St., Van Buren, AR 72956.

The family wishes to acknowledge all the friends and family who have shown their love and support during Robby’s extended illness.

Sister Mary del Rey Summers

Sister Mary del Rey Summers of McAuley Convent in Barling died Tuesday, April 2, 2002, in Barling.

Sister was born in Little Rock, Nov. 6, 1914. She was baptized Lillian Agnes Summers on Dec. 1, 1914. Her parents were Hayes R. and Abbie D. Summers.

Sister M. del Rey entered the Sisters of Mercy Community at Webster Groves, Mo., on Sept. 7, 1946, and made her first vows March 12, 1949; she professed perpetual vows Aug. 16, 1952.

Sister received her bachelor’s degree in business from St. Louis University in 1957. Her ministry included working in the office at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Hot Springs from 1949-54. After further schooling, she served at St. Louis Regional Community Treasurer in St. Louis from 1957 to 1974. She taught at Mount St. Mary’s Academy in Little Rock, after which she returned to St. Joseph’s Hospital as Sacristan. In 1952, she retired to McAuley Convent and Retirement Residence in Barling.

Sister is survived by a sister, Miss Dorothy Summers of Barling; and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Charles Summers of Woodbridge, Va.

Rosary will be in McAuley Convent Chapel, 1300 Strozier Lane in Barling at 9:30 a.m. Friday, April 5, 2002.

Mass will be 11 a.m. Friday in McAuley Convent Chapel in Barling. Sister will be buried at Calvary cemetery in Fort Smith.

Funeral arrangements under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.

Ronald Dean Collins

Ronald Dean Collins, 63, of Ratcliff died Tuesday, April 2, 2002, in a Fort Smith hospital. He was born July 20, 1938, in Griffin. He was a retired self-employed insurance salesman. He was a Navy veteran, member of the National Lodge No. 411 in Ratcliff, past master of the National Lodge No. 411 in Ratcliff, past master of the Pine Lodge No. 264 in Pine, La., a member of the Western Arkansas Scottish Rites Bodies in Fort Smith and a member of the Faith Missionary Baptist Church in Etna. He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel A. and Zilla Goodman Collins; and a brother, James S.A. Collins.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. today in Smith Mortuary Chapel in Charleston with Masonic Rites to follow and burial at Garden of Memories in Charleston with the Rev. Daniel Kesterson and the Rev. Michael Bright officiating.

He is survived by his wife, June of the home; a daughter, Brenda Merritt and her husband, Ronnie Merritt of Charleston; three sons, Glen Collins and his wife, Tauna of Haughton, La., Randy Collins of Lavaca and David Collins and his wife, Lisa of Doyline, La.; two sisters, Virgie Harrod of Warren and Linda Lambert of Donaldsonville; a sister-in-law, Betty Collins of Magnolia; seven grandchildren, Jeremy and John Greer, Amanda, Chad and Kayla Collins, Kelly Hice and Tawnya Morris; and seven great-grandchildren, Samantha and Adrianna Greer, Jade Booth, Kalahni Collins, Hunter Cook, Hailey Hice and Harley Hines.

Pallbearers will be Glen and David Collins, Jeremy, John and Kenneth Greer and Ronnie Merritt.

Honorary pallbearers will be J.D. Young, Donald Gibson, Bobby and John Parks and members of the National Lodge No. 411 in Ratcliff.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Gideons International or National Lodge No. 411 in Ratcliff.

David James

POTEAU — David Lee James, 41, of Poteau died Sunday, March 31, 2002, in Poteau. He was born Aug. 3, 1960.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday in Evans & Miller Funeral Home Chapel of Memories in Poteau with burial at James cemetery in Calhoun, Okla.

He is survived by a daughter, Leahella James of Poteau; his mother, Sally James of Poteau; two sisters, Mary Ann Abney of Fort Smith and Lavina Corrine Adkins of Poteau; and five brothers, Gibson Junior James of Helena, Okla., Jesse, Frankie Dalls and Warren Dean James, all of Poteau, and Teddy Joe James of Okmulgee, Okla.

Ronnie Morrow

Ronnie Gene Morrow, 40, of Van Buren died Tuesday, April 2, 2002, in his home. He was a heavy equipment operator for Larry Gordon Construction and a member of the New Vision Pentecostal Church.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday in Celebration Center, 501 N. 17th St. in Van Buren, with burial at Gracelawn cemetery in Van Buren under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.

He is survived by his wife, Darla; a daughter, April Morrow of the home; three sons, Ronald Morrow of Van Buren, Ricky and Ronnie Morrow Jr., both of the home; his mother, Mary Miller of Coolidge, Ariz.; three sisters, Ethel Jones, Bonnie Morrow and Leona Bourland, all of Coolidge, Ariz.; seven brothers, James Smith, Nolan Morrow, Ebert Smith and Nelson Morrow, all of Coolidge, Ariz., John Smith, Donnie Morrow and Elmer Smith, all of Van Buren; and one grandchild.

Pallbearers will be his brothers.
