LAMAR — Johnnie Ruth Mount Edwards Young, 76, of Lamar died Tuesday, April 2, 2002, in a local nursing home.

She was a retired factory worker and of the Baptist faith.

She was the widow of Henry Edwards and Charles Young.

Funeral will be 3 p.m. Saturday in Roller-McNutt Funeral Home Chapel in Conway with burial at Hartje cemetery in Conway.

She is survived by two daughters, Annie Ruth Buford of Lamar and Patricia Dykes of Conway; a son, James Eugene Edwards of Malvern; two sisters, Lillie Elmyra Webb of Guin, Ala., and Mary Jane Hanks of Anniston, Ala.; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

The family will visit with friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Roller-Cox Funeral Home in Clarksville and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Conway.

Verba Lawrence

BOLES — Verba Mae Lawrence, 90, of Boles died Tuesday, April 2, 2002, in Waldron.

She was born May 29, 1911, in Battiest, Okla.

She was the owner and operator of a restaurant, a member of the First Baptist Church in Oden and a member of the Oaklawn Jockey Club.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday in Beasley-Wood Funeral Home Chapel in Mena with burial at Oden cemetery.

She is survived by a daughter, Sondra Morgan of Boles; a sister, Juanita Adkins of Bernice, Okla.; and three grandchildren, Angela Tallmadge and Rebecca Morgan, both of Boles, and James Ray Morgan of Little Rock.

Pallbearers will be Junior Spurling, Ronnie Bruton, David and Rick Tallmadge, James Billings and William Alston.

The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Loveta Hill

MENA — Loveta Hill, 79, of Mena died Tuesday, April 2, 2002, in her home.

She was born March 23, 1923, in Abilene, Texas.

She was a dietary cook for area nursing homes and a homemaker.

She was the widow of William Hill.

Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Pleasant Grove cemetery in Cove under the direction of Beasley-Wood Funeral Home of Mena.

She is survived by five daughters, Sharon Harp of Eerie, Kan., Barbara Jean Dulinsky and Sally Irene Hill, both of Mena, Carol Hill Cotter of San Francisco and Lynn Watkins of Vandervoort; a brother, Larry Don Claxton of Lakeport, Calif.; 19 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

Ruth Woodward

TULSA — Ruth Kathleen Radican Woodward, 82, of Tulsa, formerly of Sallisaw, died Tuesday, April 2, 2002, in Tulsa.

She was born Oct. 2, 1919, in Ridgeway, Texas.

She was a homemaker and of the Nazarene faith.

She was the widow of Aubrey “Dobbin” Woodward.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. today in Agent Funeral Home Chapel in Sallisaw with burial at Sallisaw City cemetery.

She is survived by a son, Gary Fleming of Tulsa; a sister, Murlene Littrell of Tulsa; a brother, Noel Radican of Tulsa; and two grandchildren, Barry Ray Fleming of Tulsa and Christopher Heidling of Guthrie, Okla.

Henry Walker

Henry E. Walker, 92, of Fort Smith died Monday, April 1, 2002, in his home.

He was born May 12, 1909, in Augenta.

He was a retired director of Research and Development for Fourco Glass Co., a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Fort Smith, was Volunteer of the Year for Spring Hill Elementary in Van Buren and received the governor’s volunteer of the year award.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Calvary Baptist Church in Fort Smith with burial at Forest Park cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Fort Smith.

He is survived by a daughter, Becky Walker of Fort Worth, Texas; three sons, Steve of Cameron, Mo., Ed of Fayetteville and Randy of Newtown, Conn.; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Roy Gean Jr., Bob Laser, Homer Appleyard, Robert Thomas, Thel Buell, Billy Joe Releford and Jerry Jennings.

There will be no public viewing.

Honorary pallbearers will be deacons of Calvary Baptist Church.

Memorial contributions may be made to Gideons International, P.O. Box 971, Fort Smith, AR 72902.

William Collins Sr.

LAVACA — William Lee “Bill” Collins Sr., 60, of Lavaca died Tuesday, April 2, 2002, in Van Buren.

He was born May 25, 1941, in Hope.

He was a welder for Arklahoma Pipe Co. and was Baptist.

Funeral will be 1 p.m. Friday in Lewis Funeral Chapel in Lavaca with burial at Oak Valley cemetery in Lavaca.

He is survived by his wife, Debbie; two daughters, Tammy Barger of Okolona and Robin Collins of Lavaca; four sons, Bill Jr. of Dardanelle, Cameron, Gavin and Spencer, all of Central City; a stepdaughter, Shelby Hampton of Lavaca; two stepsons, Michael Myers of McCurtain and Gaylon Hampton of Barling; two brothers, Wayne and Andy Collins, both of Texas; and eight grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Kelly Chronister, Steve Fowlks, Austin Smothers, Jerry Bias, Jack and Rayfe Stewart.

The family will visit with friends from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Margaret Oliver

LAVACA — Margaret Oliver, 88, of Lavaca died Tuesday, April 2, 2002, in her home.

She was born June 24, 1913, in Dyer.

She was a homemaker and a member of Central Free Will Baptist Church in Central City and was the widow of Bill Oliver.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday in Central Free Will Baptist Church in Central City with burial at Mayberry cemetery in Central City under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel in Lavaca.

She is survived by two daughters, Patsy Steele Smith and Ina Chronister, both of Lavaca; a brother, Sam Wilson Dougan of Leavenworth, Kan.; six grandchildren, Susan Randolph, Beth Chronister, Cindy White, Danny Steele, Johnny Spencer and Vicki Woods; 13 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Gary Woods, Johnny Spencer, J.W. Smith, Wilborn Wilson, Kirk Barber and Nick Lively.

The family will visit with friends from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Elmer Graham

OZARK — Elmer Graham, 92, of Ozark died Wednesday, April 3, 2002, in Ozark.

He was born March 21, 1910, in Low Gap.

He was retired from Allen Canning Co. and was a member of the Pentecostal Church of God.

He was the widower of Ollis Brison Nicholas Graham.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Belt cemetery in Ozark under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home of Ozark.

He is survived by eight nieces, Mary Simpson, Velma McCallister and Vonda McCallister, all of Ozark, Ruth Spicer of Harrison, Francis Hodges of Springdale, Reba Umholtz of Hisperia, Calif., Norma Grace and Neda Faye McCallister, both of Mountain Top; and seven nephews, Jimmy Graham of Springdale, Charles and Arliss Graham, both of Rogers, Billy Graham of Ozark, J.D. McCallister and Lloyd Dean, both of Cave Springs, and Lloyd McCallister of Gravitt.

Pallbearers will be Harold Qualls, the Rev. Kenny England and his nephews.

The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Myrl Branstetter

POTEAU — Myrl D. Branstetter, 73, of Poteau died Wednesday, April 3, 2002, in a Fort Smith hospital.

He was born Aug. 4, 1928.

He was a cattle rancher, an Army veteran, serving in the Korean War, and a member of Southside Baptist Church in Poteau.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday in Southside Baptist Church in Poteau with burial at Slatonville cemetery in Slatonville, Okla., under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.

He is survived by his wife, Georgia; two daughters, Pam Alber of Poteau and Donna Hendricks of Cameron; two sons, Gary Myrl and Mark Lane Branstetter, both of Cameron; a brother, Clyde Earl Branstetter of Chelsea, Okla.; 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Lydell “Chub” Russell, J. Earl Hick, Jay Holton, Tim Chaplin, Danny Taylor and Don Baker.

Katherine Latta

RESEDA, Calif. — Katherine Schnitzer Latta, 99, of Reseda, Calif., formerly of Fort Smith, died Thursday, March 28, 2002, in Reseda.

She was born Aug. 23, 1902, in Fort Smith and was a former member of St. Boniface Catholic Church.

Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Friday at Calvary cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Putman Funeral Home of Fort Smith.

A memorial mass will be April 24 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Willmette, Ill.

She is survived by a daughter, Jean Latta of Northridge, Calif.; two sons, Jack Latta of Northridge, Calif., and Don Latta of Glenview, Ill.; a sister, Helen Hottenroth of Albuquerque, N.M.; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Reba Brown

EL PASO, Texas — Reba Gail Brown, 63, of El Paso, Texas died Monday, April 1, 2002, in Fayetteville, N.C.

A private family memorial service will be at a later date.

Arrangements are under the direction of Cape Fear Crematory in Fayetteville, N.C.

She is survived by a daughter, Katie Brown of Parkton, N.C.; a son, Michael T. Brown of Parkton, N.C.; a brother, Joe Allen Chamberlin of Fort Smith; and three grandchildren, Jason, Cory and Justin.

Ronald Collins

RATCLIFF — Ronald Dean Collins, 63, of Ratcliff died Tuesday, April 2, 2002, in a Fort Smith hospital.

He was born July 20, 1938, in Griffin.

He was a retired self-employed insurance salesman, a Navy veteran, a member of National Lodge No. 411 in Ratcliff, past master of the National Lodge No. 411 in Ratcliff, past master of the Pine Lodge No. 264 in Pine, La., a member of the Western Arkansas Scottish Rites Bodies in Fort Smith and a member of Faith Missionary Baptist Church in Etna.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. today in Smith Mortuary Chapel in Charleston with Masonic Rites to follow and burial at Garden of Memories in Charleston.

He is survived by his wife, June; a daughter, Brenda Merritt of Charleston; three sons, Glen Collins of Haughton, La., Randy Collins of Lavaca and David Collins of Doyline, La.; two sisters, Virgie Harrod of Warren and Linda Lambert of Donaldsonville; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Glen and David Collins, Jeremy, John and Kenneth Greer and Ronnie Merritt.

Honorary pallbearers will be member of National Lodge No. 411 in Ratcliff.

Memorial contributions may be made to Gideons International or the National Lodge No. 411 in Ratcliff, Ark.

Carla Lindsey

ARKOMA — Carla Lindsey, 36, of Arkoma died Monday, April 1, 2002, in Van Buren.

She was employed at Mr. Rob’s Cleaners and was of the Pentecostal faith.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday in Ocker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Leard cemetery in Sebastian County.

She is survived by three sons, Brandon Willet of Arkoma, Jonathan and Joseph Lindsey Jr., both of Arkoma; her father and mother, Luther and Linda Willett of Arkoma; two sisters, Melinda Southall of Arkoma and Patrenia Pound of Fort Smith; two brothers, Dewayne and James Willett, both of Arkoma.

Pallbearers will be Roy Jones, Gary Harris, Charles Willet, Darrel Gault, Keven Wheeler and Charlie Freeman.

Tessie Bowman

PARIS — Tessie Stinnett Bowman, 88, of Paris died Tuesday, April 2, 2002, in her home.

She was of the Baptist faith and attended Bethel Missionary Church in Paris. She was the widow of Sherman Stinnett.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. today in Free Will Baptist Church in Paris with burial at Baxley cemetery in Paris under the direction of Murry Funeral Home of Paris.

She is survived by three daughters, Mary Miller, Mae Bush and Faye Hicks, all of Paris; three sons, Don, Bill and Wayne Stinnett, all of Paris; 29 grandchildren and several stepgrandchildren and 51 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Michael, Donnie, Larry, Kenneth, Daniel and Jeremy Stinnett, Jimmy Luttrell and Bobby Kuykendall.
