Jake Mullins
MENA — Jake Felton Mullins, 87, of Mena died Thursday, Aug. 31, 2000, in a Fort Smith hospital. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific. He was a carpenter, a Methodist and the widower of Verla Mills.
The body was cremated under the direction of Hall Funeral Service of Mena.
He is survived by two daughters, Brenda Lynch of Mena and Jannell Mullins of Montesano, Wash.; one sister-in-law, Celeste Mullins of Houston; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Jimmy Smith
MENA — Jimmy Houston Smith, 62, of Mena died Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2000, at his home. He served in the Army and was retired from Southwest Arkansas Poultry. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Cove.
Funeral will be 10 .m. Saturday in Beasley-Wood Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Gann cemetery in Potter.
He is survived by one brother, Bob Smith of Mena; one sister-in-law, Connie Burns of Mena; one nephew, Bobby Smith of Springdale; one niece, Shawna Reed of Anchorage, Alaska; and his step-mother, Bessie Smith of Cove.

Wayne Weatherl
MULBERRY — Wayne Thomas Weatherl, 84, of Mulberry died Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2000, in a local hospital. He was an Army veteran of World War II, retired from Mulberry Lumber Co. and a member of the Pentecostal Church in Mulberry.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Ocker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial at New cemetery in Mulberry.
He is survived by his wife, Myrtle; one daughter, Rose Hopson of Van Buren; three step-daughters, Barbara Carter and Carol Jackson, both of Alma, and Mary Stephens of Mulberry; four sons, Wayne T. Weatherl Jr. and Robert Weatherl, both of Montclair, Calif., James Weatherl of Reno Valley, Calif., and Bill Weatherl of Wilton, Calif.; four step-sons, Albert, Homer, Johnny and Frank Reeves, all of Mulberry; one sister, Gladys Syverson of Washington; two brothers, Harold of Mulberry and Herbert of Washington; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be James, Danny and James Winston Weatherl, Leonard Bland, Jason Newhart and David Rieder.

Bill Ferguson
Bill E. Ferguson, 54, of Fort Smith died Thursday, Aug. 31, 2000, in Fort Smith. He retired as western sales manager from Baldor Electric Co. after 26 years. He was past president of the Fort Smith Jaycees. He was a member and Sunday school director of Grand Avenue Baptist Church.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Tuesday in Grand Avenue Baptist Church with burial at U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy; two daughters, Aimee Ferguson of Fort Smith and Kristen Ferguson of Shawnee, Okla.; two sisters, Sharon Morrison of Uniontown and Selma Mattox of Van Buren; two brothers, Johnny Ferguson of Mulberry and Roy Ferguson Jr. of Van Buren; and one grandson, Kevin White, Jr. of Fort Smith.
Pallbearers will be Tim Hunter, Larry Dancer, Roger Cook, Ron Nicodemus, Larry Oakes, Dennis Wood, Allen Graham and John Driscoll.
Honorary pallbearers will be Baldor employees.
Memorial contributions may be made to Grand Avenue Baptist Church Children’s Building Committee, 3900 Grand Avenue, Fort Smith, AR 72903.

Robert Blankenship
TOPEKA, Kan. — Robert D. “Whizzo” Blankenship, 51, of Topeka, Kan., died Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2000, in Topeka. He was a truck driver, a member of the Teamsters Union of Topeka, and a member of Haven Heights Church in Fort Smith.
Graveside service and interment will be 10 a.m. today at Meridan cemetery under the direction of Davidson Funeral Home in Topeka.
He is survived by one daughter, Rachel A. Mercer of Topeka; four sons, Jason, Jirad, Jeffrey and Jamie, all of Alma; one brother, Tom of Maple Hill, Kan.; and four grandsons.
Memorial contributions may be made to Robert D. Blankenship Memorial Fund in care of Davidson Funeral Home in Topeka.

JoAnn Bates
SALLISAW — JoAnn Meredith Bates, 66, of Sallisaw died Thursday, Aug. 31, 2000, in Sallisaw. She was a homemaker, a truck driver with her husband, and a Methodist. She was the widow of Louis Holland Bates.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Brushy cemetery, north of Sallisaw, under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Sallisaw.
She is survived by one daughter, Holly Condit of Sallisaw; one son, Dale of Sallisaw; six sisters, Bea and Jeanie, both of Louisiana, Sue and Ruby, both of Mississippi, Margaret of California and Larice of Australia; two brothers, Larry of California and Monroe of California; two grandchildren, Thomas Jeremy Dale Condit of Sallisaw, and Jeffrey B.K. Condit of California; and two great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be from 1 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Michael Frayne
CHECOTAH, Okla. — Michael Lloyd Frayne, 23, of Checotah, Okla., formerly of Fort Smith, died Thursday, Aug. 31, 2000, in Stigler. He was a mobile home mover.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. today at First Assembly of God in Panama with burial at Fairview cemetery in Panama under the direction of Evans and Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.
He is survived by his parents, Donald and Tambrey Frayne of Checotah; two sisters, Amie Wilson of Panama and Tamara Frayne of Checotah; two brothers, Gordon and Lloyd, both of Checotah; maternal grandparents, Lloyd and Loretta Hale of Panama; and paternal grandparents, Sandra and Peter Johansen of Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

J.T. “Tom” Owens
J.T. “Tom” Owens, 65, of Fort Smith died Sunday, Sept. 29, 2002, in Fort Smith. He was a retired driver for Arkola Ready Mix Company.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Jo Ann Owens of Fort Smith; a daughter, Janie Brouwer of Fort Smith; a son, David Owens of Fort Smith; two sisters, Erma Beshears of Bonanza and Freda Kingery of Greenwood; and two grandchildren, Cari Potts and Ethan Owens.
Pallbearers will be Jack Wallace, Bud Jones, John Poole, Travis Watkins, Raymond Pierce and Brian Rank.

Leo “Tommy” Robison
Leo “Tommy” Robison, 86, of Fort Smith died Saturday, Sept. 28, 2002, in Fort Smith. He was retired from Harding Glass Company.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Barling cemetery in Barling under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Mollie of the home; two daughters, Nancy Behrens of St. Paul, Minn., and Betty Conlan of Overland Park, Kan.; a brother, John D. Robison of Missouri; and three grandchildren, Kevin Behrens of Plymouth, Minn., Kim Behrens of Anchorage, Alaska, and Kelly Conlan of Overland Park, Kan.
The family will visit with friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Alma “AL” Schneider
Alma “AL” Schneider, 82, of Mountainburg died Sunday, Sept. 29, 2002, in his home. He was a retired USDA meat inspector, an Army veteran of World War II, a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Alma, served as president of the Mill Creek Branch and was an avid horseman. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Sally Schneider.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Alma with burial at Locke cemetery near Mountainburg under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Mildred of the home; four daughters, Iris Titsworth of Fort Smith, Linda Dozier of Springdale, Deborah Oliver of Mulberry and Rose Bailey of Ozark; two sons, Jim and John Scheider, both of Mulberry; a brother, Aaron Schneider of Alma; 31 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Clifford Moshier, J.D. Scouden, Jimmy Blaine, Frank Parr, Ken McCabe, Buddy Winborn, Randall Shepherd and Mike Reeves.
Honorary pallbearers will be his grandsons.

William P. Mann Sr.
William P. Mann Sr., age 73, of Fort Smith, formerly of Buffalo, N.Y., died Monday Sept. 30, 2002, in Fort Smith. He served in the Army and was a veteran of the Korean War and an operating engineer with Local No. 17 for more than 40 years and was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Fort Smith. William was preceded in death by his brother, James and wife, Pat Mann and sister, Donna and husband, Red Burley, William will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Rosary will be 7 p.m. today at Fentress Mortuary Chapel in Fort Smith.
Mass will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Fort Smith with burial at U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Dolores Doie Kohler Mann of the home; two daughters, Janet and husband, David DiCaro of Rochester, N.Y. and Kathleen and husband, Jim Rydelek of Rochester, N.Y.; five sons, Bill and wife Donna Lynn Mann of Buffalo, N.Y., Jim and wife, Kathie Mann of Hamburg, N.Y., Kevin and wife, Daneen Mann of Fort Smith, Rick and wife, Linda Mann of Fort Smith, Larry and wife, Stephanie Mann of Roland; three sisters, Elizabeth and husband, John Yuskiw of Buffalo, N.Y., Patricia Needham of Buffalo, N.Y., Lorry and the late Daniel Lukomski of Buffalo, N.Y.; four brothers, David and wife, Maureen Mann of Buffalo, N.Y., Edward and wife, Mary Mann of Buffalo, N.Y., Mikey and wife, Theresa Mann of Buffalo, N.Y. and Patrick and wife, Marion Mann of Buffalo, N.Y.; and 21 grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Michael Mann, Rick Worthington, Shannon Bradney, Rodney and Robert Riser and Bill Sugg.

Connie S. Moore
Connie S. Moore, 52, of Fort Smith died Friday, Sept. 27, 2002, in Fort Smith. She was involved with Bost Human Development and the Special Olympics. She was preceded in death by her parents, William F. and Helen M. Baker and a sister, Katie Baker.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Fort Smith. Arrangements are under the direction of Fentress Mortuary of Fort Smith.
She is survived by a son, Jason Moore of Fort Hood, Texas; a sister, Maurine Rogers of Fort Smith; two brothers, Bill Baker of Denver and Rick Baker of Fort Smith; two grandchildren, Kelsy Marie Moore of Killeen, Texas, and Aaron Triston Moore of Killeen, Texas; one niece and several nephews.
Pallbearers will be Rick and Maxwell Baker, Shay Morse, Jeff Rogers, Larry Jones, Dicky Zellars, Jessie Yutterman and Jason Moore.
Honorary pallbearer will be Bill Baker.

Mervin Washington, 40, of Mulberry died Saturday, Sept. 28, 2002, in Paris. He was a counselor for Focus Health Care, an avid fisherman of fresh and salt water, a former football player for Bowling Green State University and a volunteer with youth sports.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Ocker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Alma with burial at Gracelawn cemetery in Van Buren.
He is survived by his wife, Teresa Washington of the home; three sons, Terrell, Jarrod and Rodney, all of the home; his father, Robbie Robinson of Wickliff, Ohio; a sister, Dee Dee Washington of Wickliff, Ohio; his grandmother, Inez Woods of Wickliff, Ohio.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Almond, Ronny Perkinson, Cleo Limon, Chuck Pachl, Preston Marley and John Donley.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Thelma McMillian
MENA — Thelma Agnes McMillian, 86, of Mena died Saturday, Sept. 28, 2002, in Mena. She was born March 20, 1916, in Mena. She was a homemaker, of the Baptist faith and the widow of Lester McMillian.
Graveside service was Monday at Board Camp cemetery under the direction of Beasley-Wood Funeral Home of Mena.
She is survived by a son, Ed McMillian of Mena; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Bonnie Woods
SPIRO — Bonnie Jean Woods, 70, of Spiro died Sunday, Sept. 29, 2002, in Spiro.
Graveside service was Monday at Spiro City cemetery under the direction of Mallory Funeral Home of Spiro.
She is survived by two daughters, Joyce Stiles of Spiro and Debra Shackelford of Burleson, Texas; a brother, Virgil Dameron of Tahlequah, Okla.; and one grandchild.
