Christa Elizabeth McDole, 97, of Fort Smith died Monday, Sept. 23, 2002, in Fort Smith. She was a homemaker and a member of Wesley United Methodist Church.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Friday at Roselawn cemetery in Fort Smith. The body will be cremated under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
She is survived by a daughter, Mary Gene McConnell of Fort Smith; a son, Herbert Wayne McDole of Tulsa; a sister, Omah Sellars of Dallas; two grandchildren and a great-grandchild

Leona Syrock
Leona Faldon Syrock, 94, of Van Buren died Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2002, in a local hospital. She was a member of City Heights United Methodist Church and a retired nurse’s aide for Methodist Nursing Home. She was the widow of Jasper Syrock.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Ocker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Gracelawn cemetery in Van Buren.
She is survived by three daughters, Freda Burns and Lorene Scott, both of Van Buren, and Louise Thomas of Mountainburg; a son, Jasper Syrock of Ponder, Texas; a sister, Frances Bloon of Westchester, Ill.; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Anthony E. Zucchero, Joseph Z. and Brian Shepherd, Kendall, Kendrick and Tommy Thomas and Robert Thibault.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mary Hanks
CHARLESTON— Mary E. Hanks, 65, of Charleston died Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2002, in Charleston. She was a member of Church of Christ.
Funeral will be 3 p.m. today at Branch Church of Christ with burial at Lowes Creek cemetery north of Branch under the direction of Smith Mortuary of Charleston.
She is survived by a daughter, Pamela Hanks of Central City; three sons, Jim Kiger of Lavaca, Johnny Kiger of Greenwood and Tommy Kiger of Fort Smith; a sister, Modene Morris of Evening Shade; a brother, Calvin Murphy of Dumas; and six grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Jim, Johnny, Tommy and James Kiger, Matt Moore and Jerry Hayes.

Floyd Jones
SALLISAW — Floyd Ray Jones, 62, of Sallisaw died Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2002, in Sallisaw.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Seabolt cemetery in Muldrow under the direction of Mallory Funeral Home of Sallisaw.
He is survived by his wife, Brinda; a daughter, Sundee Lane of Oregon; a son, Floyd Ray Jones Jr. of Oregon; a brother, Charles Floyd of Roland; and four grandchildren.
The body may be viewed at the funeral home, where the family will visit with friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today.

Carolyn Phelps
COAL HILL — Carolyn Jane Phelps, 62, of Coal Hill died Saturday, Sept. 28, 2002. She was a homemaker, worked at D&T Store and attended Coal Hill Assembly of God.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Coal Hill Assembly of God with burial at Coal Hill cemetery under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home of Clarksville.
She is survived by her husband, Danny; three daughters, Cynthia Hall of Hartman, Kattie Lucas of Coal Hill and Donna Hedrick of Dover; two sons, Paul McGlaun of Greenbier and Daniel Phelps of Coal Hill; three sisters, Geneive Roland of Grants Pass, Ore., Brenda Bowman of Guthrie, Okla., and Linda Rhinehart of Paris; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Joseph and Robert Hall, Joseph Lucas, Jared Wood, Ellis Cemental and Clint Bacchus.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Evelyn Giddings
WATSON, Okla. — Evelyn Bea Giddings, 62, of Watson, Okla., died Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2002, in Mena. She was born Nov. 12, 1939, in Eagle, Neb. She was a secretary for a chemical plant, a member of Happiness Extension Club, bowled on the Senior League and the Lunch Bunch League at Pine Bowl.
Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Friday at Pine Bowl. The body was sent for cremation under the direction of Hall Funeral Service of Mena.
She is survived by her husband, Herbert; four daughters, Kimberly Alm of San Lorenzo, Calif., Melissa Russell of Woodland, Calif., Kathy Guera of Tracy, Calif., and Pamela Metsger of Freemont, Calif.; a son, Michael Giddings of Freemont, Calif.; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Elzie Allen
Elzie Lewis Allen, 67, of Fort Smith died Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2002, in a local hospital. He was born July 28, 1935, in Scott County. He was a retired furniture worker, affiliated with New Bethel Assembly of God in Fort Smith and a guitar player, a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles and past president, past state president of Fraternal Order of Eagles.
Funeral will be 3 p.m. Friday at New Bethel Assembly of God in Fort Smith with burial at Roland City cemetery under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Gracie; four daughters, Eileen Hibbs of Van Buren, Virginia Ross of Sallisaw, Martha Campbell of Virginia Beach, Va., and Pat Bagley of Henderson, N.C.; two sons, Douglas Crabtree of Florida and Doyle Crabtree of Cedar Hills, Texas; four sisters, Marie Looper of Van Buren, Peggy Moore of Gans, Brenda Whisenhunt of Roland and June Jorden of Holly Grove; a brother, Phillip Allen of Gans; and 10 grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be O.J. Moore, Craig Womack, Chuck Wissie, Michael Vaughn, Roger Beard and Eldoe Owens.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
Memorial contributions may be made to New Bethel Assembly of God Music Department, 2201 N. Eighth St., Fort Smith, AR 72904.

Conetha Clouse
TULSA — Conetha Clouse, 75, of Tulsa died Monday, Sept. 23, 2002, in Tulsa. She was born Aug. 5, 1927, in Midland. She was a homemaker and a member of Regular Baptist Church in Jenks, Okla.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at Huntington City cemetery.
She is survived by a daughter, Lynette Ousley of Tulsa; a son, Gary Clouse of Tulsa; a sister, Geneva Brazil of Fort Smith; and two grandchildren.

George Jackson Sr.
George L. Jackson Sr., 55, of Fort Smith died Friday, Sept. 20, 2002, in his home. He was a member of Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Alma, a retired employee of Rheem Manufacturing Company, an Army veteran of Vietnam and was awarded the Commendation Medal, was active in several community organizations, a volunteer with Fort Smith Boy’s Club and past president of Young Men’s Association.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at King Solomon Christian Center with burial at U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Rowell-Parish Mortuary of Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Diana; two daughters, Alexteen Rayford Cobbs and Quianna Shinta Jackson, both of Fort Smith; a son, George Lee Jackson Jr. of Fort Smith; his mother, Mae Ella Jackson of Fort Smith; four sisters, Zue Ella Gray, Sherry Ward and Tonya Jackson, all of Fort Smith, and Rebecca Neal of Oklahoma City; five brothers, Raymond Foster and Arthur Jackson, both of Milwaukee, William Jackson of Aurora, Ill., Ronald and Paul Jackson, both of Fort Smith.
Pallbearers will be Mith Parker Sr., Jim Flanagan, Jesse Ferguson, Kenneth Gray, Herman Shoates, Robert King, Robert Ferguson and Alvin Hardwick Jr.

Bob Martin Sr.
Bob Martin Sr., 71, of Alma went to heaven Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2002. He was a retired operating engineer at St. John’s Hospital in Tulsa, an Army veteran of the Korean War, attended Pleasant Valley Church of Christ. He was an avid golfer and loved his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Kevin Dee Martin.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. today at Pleasant Valley Church of Christ with a 2:30 p.m. burial service at Floral Haven cemetery in Broken Arrow, Okla., under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.
He is survived by his wife, June of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Judi and Gary Garrison of Tulsa and Pam and Mike Lingo of Coweta, Okla.; a son and daughter-in-law, Bob Martin Jr. and Shelly of Alma; a brother, Charles Ernest Martin Jr. of Figure Five community; six grandchildren, Joshua Garrison, Mychal, Cindy and Brandon Lingo, Jake and Zach Martin.
Pallbearers will be Greg Bailey, the Rev. Mike Taylor, James Goines, Clint Ward, Delmar Lewis and Paul Fletcher.

Elzie Lewis Allen, 67, of Fort Smith died Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2002, in a local hospital. He was born July 28, 1935, in Scott County. He was a retired furniture worker, affiliated with New Bethel Assembly of God in Fort Smith as guitar player, a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles and past president, past state president of Fraternal Order of Eagles. He was a musician and singer.
Funeral will be 3 p.m. today at New Bethel Assembly of God in Fort Smith with burial at Roland City cemetery under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Fort Smith.

Ina A. Chancey
Ina A. Chancey, 91, of Ozark went to heaven Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2002. She was the widow of Grady Chancey and the daughter of Flora Hughes and James Wolden. She is survived by three daughters, Yvonne Woolsey and husband, Denver of Edmond, Okla., Wilma Schuler and husband, Wayne of Basehor, Kan., and Brenda Honey and husband, James of Fort Smith; three sons, Jack Chancey and wife, Mary of Saltillo, Miss., Bennie Chancey and wife, Carolyn of Ozark and Grady Chancey Jr. and wife, Ermel of Ozark; two brothers, Bill Walden of Ozark and Ken Walden of Pixley, Calif.; 16 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was a member of Webb City Baptist Church. She spent her lifetime caring for her family and others. She was a volunteer for the Civil Air Patrol. She was a cook for the Ozark Elementary School. She was an expert seamstress and was always available to give you a haircut.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Webb City Baptist Church under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home of Ozark.
Pallbearers are grandsons, Brad and Lee Jackson, Craig, Kevin, James and Grady Chancey III, Brendan Honey.
Honorary pallbearers are granddaughters, Melanie Bryan, Lisa Brown, Rochelle Flatt, Jacquelyn Jones, Aimee Jackson, Dana Halmes, Leigh Chancey and Cassie Luna and members of her Sunday school class.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

CLARKSVILLE — Teletha P. Smith, 92, of Clarksville died Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2002, in Clarksville. She was a sales clerk and a bookkeeper and a member of Lamar Baptist Church. She was the widow of Kenneth Smith.
Funeral will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Roller-Cox Funeral Home Chapel in Clarksville with burial at Oakland cemetery in Clarksville.
She is survived by a sister, Lila Cassell of Fullerton, Calif.; and a brother, Floyd E. Harrison of Germany.
Pallbearers will be Tracy Price, Charles Dillard, Harry Tillery, Charles Brown, Ben Keith and Don Danvar.

Ruth Boyd
Ruth Ward Boyd, 82, of Fort Smith died Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2002, in Fort Smith. She had worked for Merchants National Bank and was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Gleaner’s Sunday school class.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at Forest Park cemetery in Fort Smith.
She is survived by her husband, Bill; three daughters, Sara Ward of Van Buren, Ruth Ann Wolverton of Atlanta and Georgia Calaway of Little Rock; two sons, Joe Ward of North Little Rock and Lee Ward of Van Buren; a sister, Dixie Berryman of Oklahoma City; and seven grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Lee and Joe Ward, Randy Wolverton, Greg Calaway, Chris, Kevin and Bill Boyd Jr.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Gleaner’s Sunday school class.
