Lawrence Horton
GREENWOOD Lawrence Winston Horton, 68, of Greenwood died Friday, Feb. 22, 2002, in a Fort Smith hospital. He was a retired Navy veteran of the Korean War and Vietnam War.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Friday in McConnell Funeral Home Chapel in Greenwood with burial at Riverside U.S. National cemetery in Riverside, Calf.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley; a daughter, Leisha Madison of Greenwood; a son, Larry Neil Horton of Greenwood; two sisters, Joann Koeler of Hot Springs and Helen Johnson of California; two brothers, Paul Horton of Reno, Nev., and Tony Garcia of Boise, Idaho; and four grandchildren.
George Ryan Jr.
BLUE MOUNTAIN George C. Ryan Jr., 71, of Blue Mountain died Monday, Feb. 25, 2002. He was an Army veteran, farmer, rancher and acting OIC at Blue Mountain Post Office. He studied electrical engineering at Arkansas Tech University at Russellville and University of Arkansas at Fayetteville and was a member of Little Vine Primitive Church, on the South Logan County Fair Board, member of National Brangus Association, active with county and district livestock shows and fairs where he worked in the poultry department, he maintained the Blue Mountain cemetery and served as member of the cemetery board.
Funeral will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday in Little Vine Primitive Baptist Church with burial at Blue Mountain cemetery under the direction of Cornwell Funeral Home of Danville.
He is survived by three sisters, Gene Hurst of Cotter, Grace Calva of Blue Mountain and Joan Ryan of Little Rock; a niece and nephew.
Pallbearers will be Coleman Byrd, R.H. Johnson, L.D. Lee, Bobby Mizell, Bill Dorrough, Kenneth Ridenhour, Curtis Storts and Jerry Wooley.
The body may be viewed 6 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will visit with friends from 6 to 7 p.m.

Opal Brown
MENA Opal A. Brown, 94, of Mena died Monday, Feb. 25, 2002, in Hot Springs. She was born Dec. 10, 1907, in Mineola. She was a homemaker and a member of Church of Christ in Mena. She was the widow of Ben Brown.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday in Beasley-Wood Funeral Home Chapel in Mena with burial at Nunley cemetery.
She is survived by four daughters, Mary Ann Brown of Fort Smith, Cora Sadler and Wanda Brown, both of Mena and Ruby Boyette of Wendell, N.C.; three sons, John O. Brown of Lewisville, Texas, Benny Brown of Fort Smith and Jerry Brown of Mena; a sister, Agnes Crawford of Claremore, Okla.; two brothers, Isaac Thompson of Mountain Home and James Thompson of California; 17 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Ben and Daron Sadler, Roy, Ronnie, Larry and Jerry Brown.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

HEAVENER Lois Florence Rabourn, 81, of Heavener died Monday, Feb. 25, 2002, in her home. She was a member of First United Methodist Church.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday in First United Methodist Church in Heavener with burial at Memorial Park in Heavener under the direction of Dowden Funeral Home of Heavener.
She is survived by a daughter, Lena Rabourn of Heavener; a son, Jasper Rabourn of Heavener; two grandchildren, Abby Clemmer of Fort Smith and Bailey Rabourn of Heavener.
Elzie Wiles
OCHELATA, Okla. Elzie Lee Wiles, 94, of Ochelata, Okla., formerly of Heavener, died Sunday, Feb. 24, 2002, in Ochelata. He was a farmer and rancher, a former member of Big Creek Baptist Church and was a member of Ochelata Baptist Church.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday in Big Creek Baptist Church in Heavener with burial at Memorial Park in Heavener under the direction of Dowden Funeral Home of Heavener.
He is survived by his wife, Cleo; two sons, Don and Gene Wiles, both of Ochelata, Okla.; a sister, Ruby Sinn of Washington; three grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

CHARLESTON Marjorie Mae Bonner, 77, of Charleston died Monday, Feb. 25, 2002, in Charleston. She was a retired seamstress for a clothing manufacturer and a member of Charleston First Baptist Church.
Graveside service pending. Burial will be at Garden of Memories cemetery in Charleston under the direction of Smith Mortuary of Charleston.
She is survived by her husband, Clayton; two daughters, Marilyn Layton of Starkville, Miss. and Beverly Hawks of Fremont, Calif.; three brothers, Herman Haynes of Charleston, Paul Haynes of Sallisaw and Vance Haynes of Moore, Okla.; and five grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Willie McDonald, Wayne Bangs, Reed Haynes and Denny Flynn.
Rev. Marvis Smith
QUINTON The Rev. Marvis Ray Smith, 61, of Quinton died Sunday, Feb. 24, 2002, in Oklahoma City. He was educated in Stigler was a 1958 graduate and an Air Force veteran. He began a career with Southern Baptist Ministry in 1970 and was currently pastor of Quinton First Baptist Church.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday in Quinton First Baptist Church with burial at Mountain Home cemetery in Enterprise under the direction of King & Shearwood Funeral Home of Stigler.
He is survived by his wife Charolette; a daughter, Kelly Raylene McCullar of Whitefield; a son, Doren Ray Smith of Stigler; three sisters, Belva Folsom of Okmulgee, Okla., Sue Risenhoover of Sandridge and Erma Mizell of Wichita Falls, Texas; a brother, Arnold Smith of Sand Springs, Okla.; and six grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Lawrence Priest, Charles Weatherby, Charles Quinton, Wayne Christian, Lynn Etchison and Willis Adcock.

PORUM Barbara Lou Baker, 68, of Porum died Monday, Feb. 25, 2002, in Muskogee, Okla.
Funeral will be 9:30 a.m. Thursday in King & Shearwood Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Stigler with burial at Keota cemetery in Keota.
She is survived by four daughters, Connie Ivey of Skiatook, Okla., Debbie Baker of Tulsa, Vicki Tripp of Porum and Twyla Tanner of McAlester, Okla.; a son, Donnie Atkinson of Porum; four sisters, Rena Lowe and Bernadine Allison, both of Stigler, Atla Mae Hoose of Claremore, Okla., and Juanita Peden of Garden City, Kan.; a brother Bill Norwood; eight grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; a special friend, Eddie Kash of Porum.

GORE Ralph Rudolph Carter, 80, of Gore died Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2002, in Gore. He was born Aug. 10, 1921, in Gore. He was a veteran of World War II, a retired iron worker after 45 years with Union No. 584, a cattle rancher and a member of Church of Christ in Gore.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday in Agent Funeral Home Chapel in Gore with burial at White cemetery northwest of Gore.
He is survived by his wife, Velma; two daughters, Neve Lemley of Gore and Sheila Carter of Warner, Okla.; a sister, Ellen Gibson of Winslow; five grandchildren, Gena Narvaiz, Allan and Carter Cumpton, all of Warner, Okla., Leondra Callaway of Edmond, Okla., and Labradia Lemley of Gore and one great-grandchild.

INK Joyce Marie Rosson, 72, of Ink died Monday, Feb. 25, 2002, in her home. She was born March 8, 1929, in Wanette, Okla. She was retired from Cowden Manufacturing and was a member of Concord Baptist Church and was attending New Hope Baptist Church. She was the widow of DeRoy L. Rosson.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday in Concord Baptist Church with burial at Concord cemetery under the direction of Hall Funeral Service of Mena.
She is survived by two sons, Aldin Dee and Alvin Leon Rosson, both of Mena; two sisters, Doris Surman of Mena and Sue Vahn of Waldron; a halfsister, Geneva York of Redwood Valley, Calif.; two brothers, Bill and Larry Strother, both of Mena; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

PARKS Fuell Hampton McCraw, 88, of Parks died Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2002, in a Little Rock hospital. He was a member of Parks Baptist Church and was the widow of Pauline Black McCraw.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday in Parks Baptist Church with burial at Hawkins cemetery in Park under the direction of Martin Funeral Home of Waldron.
He is survived by a daughter, Lou Nell Davis of Lamar; two sisters, Treva Lacefield and Wanda Holbert, both of Tulsa; a brother, John McCraw of Parks; four grandchildren, Danny and Amy Davis, Camille Langford and Kitie Conley and six great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Don Frost, Garry, Mac and Shane Davis, Chad Henderson and Billy John Franklin.

Willard Strickland, 81, of Fort Smith died Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2002, in Fort Smith. She was a retired secretary for various law firms. She attended Hon Bpatist Church and was an Army veteran of World War II as a member of Womens Army Corps.
Funeral will be noon Thursday in Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at Hon cemetery in Hon Community.
She is survived by a sister, Betty Jo Strickland Richardson of Buffalo Grove, Ill.; two nieces, Helen Craig of Rolling Meadows, Ill., and Agnes Marcus of Buffalo Grove, Ill.; a nephew, Charles Richardson of Genoa, Ill.; two great-nieces and a great-nephew.

Jewell Chitwood, 95, of Dyer died Monday, Feb. 25, 2002, in a local nursing home. He was the caretaker at Dyer cemetery for 47 years and a retired carpenter and a member of Dyer United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Chitwood.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. today in Dyer United Methodist Church with burial at Dyer cemetery under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.
He is survived by a daughter, Ruth Coleman of Dyer; a son, John Paul Chitwood of Van Buren; two grandchildren, Donna Kay Small of Kibler and Paul Wayne Coleman of Mountainburg; and two great-granddaughters.

Eva Lea Sorey-Wade, 74, of Paris died Monday, Feb. 25, 2002, in Fort Smith. She attended First Methodist Church in Paris. She is preceded in death by her father, Jimmy Young of Paris, her mother, Pearl Dixon and her brother, Holman Young.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. today in Murry Funeral Home Chapel in Paris with burial at McKendree cemetery.
She is survived by four children, Danny, Gary and Curtis Sorey and Mary Ann Reed of Paris; two sisters, Leona Ebard of Charleston and Reba Mantooth of Vesta; and five grandchildren.

Walter Wesley Collins
Walter Wesley Collins, 74, of Fort Smith died Monday, Feb. 25, 2002, in a Fort Smith hospital. He was a retired building inspector for Superior Federal Bank, a former pastor of Maple Grove Church of God in Neodesha, Kan., and the Green Mound Church of God in Wayland, Iowa. He was a member of Fort Smith High School Class of 1946, a member and deacon and Sunday school teacher at First Free Will Baptist Church in Fort Smith, a former choir director and Sunday school superintendent at the church.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. today in First Free Will Baptist Church with burial at Steep Hill cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Alice B. Collins; two sons, Charles Michael Collins and his wife, Rhonda of Fort Smith and Edward Dale Collins of Benton; his mother, Minnie Williams Collins of Fort Scott, Kan.; two sisters, Emma Allen and her husband, Lawrence and Maxine McDow, all of Fort Scott, Kan.; a brother, Richard Collins and his wife, Vickey of Belle Plaine, Kan.; and one grandson, Evan Weston Collins of Fort Smith.
Pallbearers will be trustees and deacons of First Free Will Baptist Church.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. James Buie, Dr. Raymond Dela Rosa, Dr. Dennis Fecher and Dr. Dean Flanagan.
