POTEAU — Leora Sanders, 91, of Poteau died Thursday, March 7, 2002, in Poteau. She was born Jan. 8, 1911, in Mississippi. She was a member of the Nazarene Church in Panama and the widow of Albert Sanders.
Funeral will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday in Grace Manor Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Poteau. Cremation will follow.
She is survived by three sons, Joe and Phillip Sanders, both of Shady Point, and Cecil Sanders of Spiro; a sister, Mildred Pickle of Georgia; a brother, Silas Carter of Mississippi; four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Merle Decker
MOUNTAINBURG — Merle Wayne Decker, 69, Mountainburg died Thursday, March 7, 2002, in Mountainburg. He was a Navy veteran, a self-employed welder and auto mechanic.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Freedom cemetery in Chester under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.
He is survived by two daughters, Terri Moore of Mountainburg and Sheri Lynn Davidson of Fayetteville; a sister, Marlene Waterson of Fayetteville; a brother, Jimmy Decker of Tulsa; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Shay Palmer, Jackie Moore II, Matt Byron and Leonard Seratt.

POTEAU — Kevin Longoria, 2, of Poteau died Thursday, march 7, 2002, in Poteau. He was born May 5. 1999, in Rio Grande Zac, Mexico.
Graveside service will be 4:30 p.m. today at Oakland cemetery in Poteau under the direction of Grace Manor Funeral Home of Poteau.
He is survived by his parents, Juan and Elisa Longoria of Poteau.
Larry Dickerson
POTEAU — State Sen. Larry Dickerson, 45, of Poteau died Thursday, March 7, 2002, in Oklahoma City. He was born May 13, 1956, in Oklahoma City. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church in Poteau.
He will lie in state at the State Capitol in Oklahoma City from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday with a memorial service at 2 p.m.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in Mick Thompson Field House Carl Albert State College in Poteau with burial at Oakland cemetery in Poteau under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.
He is survived by his wife, Dee; a son, John Dickerson of the home; his parents, Lawrence and Nan Dickerson of Poteau; and a sister, Nan Lea Haskins of Tulsa.
Pallbearers will be his special angels disguised as friends.
The family will visit with friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

WHEATLAND, Iowa — Norman Dell Presson, 77, of Wheatland, Iowa, formerly of Bettendorf, Iowa, died Friday, March 8, 2002. He was born Sept. 20, 1924, in Mansfield. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Bettendorf, Iowa, and the widow of Wanda Jeane Hill Presson.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday in Runge Mortuary Chapel in Davenport, Iowa, with burial at Davenport Memorial Park cemetery.
He is survived by two sons, Ron Presson of Bettendorf, Iowa, and Don Presson of DeWitt, Iowa; three sisters, Jewel Damron of Springdale, Oleta Roe of Huntington and Wanda Lewis of Mansfield; two brothers, Calvin Presson of Palm Springs, Calif., and Granville Presson of Fort Smith; four grandchildren, Michael, Mark, Jessica and Elisha Presson; and two great-grandchildren.

Frances E. Baker, 87, of Fort Smith died Thursday, March 7, 2002, in Fort Smith. She was a retired registered nurse for St. Edward Mercy Medical Center and retired from Fort Smith Symphony, Arkansas Catholic Professional Business Women, a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, the Keenagers and the Registered Nurses Association.
Rosary will be 4 p.m. Sunday in Fentress Mortuary Chapel in Fort Smith.
Mass will be 10 a.m. Monday in St. Boniface Catholic Church with burial at Forest Park cemetery in Fort Smith.
She is survived by a daughter, Beverly Tucker of Fort Smith; a son, Bill Baker of Greenwood; six grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Tracy, David and Todd Tucker, Brad, Blake and Brian Baker.
Iberia English
OZARK — Iberia English, 84, of Ozark died Thursday, March 7, 2002, in Ozark. She was born July 7, 1917, in Franklin County. She worked for the Red Cross and was a secretary for the State Department.
Graveside service will be 10:30 a.m. today at Roselawn cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Fentress Mortuary of Fort Smith.
She is survived by two brothers, Kenneth Wayne English of Ozark and Herbert Eugene English of Clarksville; three nieces and nephews and several great-nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Gary, Keith, Jeffrey, Brandon and Brad English and Jack Whitson.
Alice Pillar
GREENWOOD — Alice Pillar, 83, of Greenwood died Friday, March 8, 2002, in her home. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Sabina and Mary Catholic Church in Jenny Lind, past president of Greenwood Garden Club and Altar Society of St. Sabina and Mary Catholic Church in Jenny Lind, past member of Greenwood Roundup Club, the Catholic of America and the Catholic Women’s Society.
Rosary will be 7 p.m. Sunday in McConnell Funeral Home Chapel in Greenwood. Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Monday in St. Sabina and Mary Catholic Church in Jenny Lind.
She is survived by her husband, Edward; a daughter, Janet Gosch of Greenwood; three sons, Edward Pillar of Lombard, Ill., David and Daniel Pillar, both of Fort Smith; 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
The body may be viewed 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

David Powell, 43, of Fort Smith died Tuesday, March 5, 2002, in his home.
The body was cremated under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
He is survived by his mother, Melba Mayer of Hinesville, Ga.; and a sister, Deborah Bien of Georgia.
Clifford Jobe
OZARK — Clifford I. Jobe, 77, of Ozark died Friday, March 8, 2002, in a local nursing home. He was born Jan. 1, 1925, in Decatur, Texas. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, a retired roofer for Coast Roof and a member of the local roofer’s union and the VFW.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home of Ozark.
He is survived by his former wife, Flora; two daughters, Mary Kay Jobe of Altus and Dorothy Jane Roff of Salines, Calif.; a son, Robert A. Jobe of Ozark; a sister, Dorothy Neighbors of Salines, Calif.; two brothers, Roy Lee Jobe of Springfield, Mo., and J.D. Jobe of Texas; six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Imogene Gant
Imogene Gant, 86, of Van Buren entered into rest Wednesday, March 6, 2002, in a local hospital. She was a homemaker. She is survived by a daughter, Linda Beth Harwood of Fort Smith; a son, Paul D. Gant of Van Buren; seven grandchildren, Joe D. Schoolcraft of Owasso, Okla., Jean Schoolcraft Hunt of Greensboro, N.C., Judy Schoolcraft Parson of Grapevine, Texas, Jim Schoolcraft of Maumelle, Kyle Harwood of Colorado Springs, Colo., Kristen Harwood Arrington of Allen, Texas, and Kimberly Gant Griffin of Waco, Texas. Also surviving are 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Alice Margaret Schoolcraft, and one son, Zed George Gant. Her loving husband of 65 years, H. Zed Gant, died just a few weeks ago on Jan, 13, 2002.
Edith Imogene Farabough Gant was born April 17, 1915, in Rogers, the daughter of George and Jessie Alice Farabough. She attended Trinity University in San Antonio and the University of Arkansas. She was a former member of the Eastern Star, the American Legion Auxiliary and the Crawford County Historical Society. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, where she served for many years with the bereavement committee. Her life was devoted to giving of herself to family and those in need.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. today in First Baptist Church in Van Buren with burial at Gracelawn cemetery under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
Pallbearers will be Joe D. and Jim Schoolcraft, Kyle Harwood, Earl Robinson, Mike Hurst, Gene Bell, Butch Love and Jimmy Riddle.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Adult No. 7 Sunday school class of the Van Buren First Baptist Church.

William L. Sims, 77, of Van Buren died Thursday, March 7, 2002, in a local hospital. He was a retired cement truck driver and a member of Concord Baptist Church in Van Buren. He was formerly of Salinas, Calif., and Duncanville, Texas.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Concord Baptist Church in Van Buren with burial at Gracelawn cemetery under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
He is survived by his wife, Euline of the home; two daughters, Pam Sims of Salinas, Calif., and Genie Thompson of New York; a son, Jerry Lee Sims of Wills Point, Texas; three sisters, Lena Mae Foster of Hot Springs, Joanna of Salinas, Calif., and Murline Atherton of Oregon; a brother, Ray Sims of Rudy; 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be members of Gene Loyd Sunday school class at Concord Baptist Church.
Wilma “Bill” Sue Center
Wilma “Bill” Sue Center, 86, of Fort Smith died Wednesday, March 6, 2002, in a local hospital. She was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Center.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Monday at U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
She is survived by a daughter, Gail Marie Bradshaw of Fort Smith; a son, Pat Center of Sugar Loaf Lake; two sisters, Marie Center and Grace Stubblefield, both of Fort Smith; three grandchildren, Jubal Center of Elkins, William Bradshaw of Fort Smith and Barrie Shaler of San Bernardino, Calif.; and three great-grandchildren.
The family will visit with friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Tammy Lou Weeks, 32, of Fort Smith died Saturday, March 16, 2002, in Washington County. She was born Oct. 28, 1969, in Van Buren. She was a waitress.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Alma City cemetery under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Fort Smith.
She is survived by her husband, Miles; a daughter, Donna Pettygrew of Van Buren; three sons, Harold, Bradley and Hunter Weeks, all of Fort Smith; her parents, Gloria Pettygrew of Van Buren and Harold Pettygrew of Mountainburg; four sisters, Tina Thompson of Brazil, Carol Parker of Stillwell, Tresa Moses of Fort Smith and Lisa Wabounsee of Van Buren; two brothers, Marvin Pettygrew of Van Buren and Robert Wayne Pettygrew of Fort Smith; maternal grandmother, Effie Satterfield of Mountainburg.

The Rev. M. Ray Frost
The Rev. M. Ray Frost of Fort Smith went to be with the Lord Sunday, March 17, 2002, at St. Edward Mercy Hospital after a brief struggle with cancer. He was born March 15, 1933, in Magazine. He was a retired ordained minister with the Assemblies of God after 45 years of service. He pastored 14 churches in Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas and Indiana. He served as the director of the Fort Worth Teen Challenge Ministry and Girls Home. He is also retired head of security for the Fifth Season Inn in Fort Smith. He was a veteran of the Air Force serving in the Korean War as a air policeman.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Vester and Duffy Frost of Branch and his in-laws, J.D. and Audra Pike of Fort Smith. He is survived by his loving wife, Freeda Maxine of 49 years; two sons and daughter-in-laws, Michael and Lynda Frost of Benton and the Rev. Darrell and Kathy Frost of Humboldt, Tenn.; a foster daughter, Sharon and Robert Hagamier of Fort Worth, Texas; one granddaughter, Lindsey Frost; two grandsons, Joshua and Justin Frost; two stepgrandsons, Matthew and Zack Taylor; one stepgreat-grandson, Dalton Taylor; three foster grandchildren, Carmen, Bobby and Travis, all of Fort Worth; four brothers, two sisters, a multitude of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Cliff Terrace Assembly of God with burial at Cross cemetery in Greenwood under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Fort Smith.
Pallbearers will be Justin and Josh Frost, Harold and Bob Pike, the Rev. Hoyt Ming and Kenneth Williams. Honorary pallbearers will be Willie Deramo, Troy and Ron Pike, Jack Taylor, Robert Hagamier and all ministers of all denominations that he has associated with over the many years.
