Carl Minehart
ROGERS — Carl “Rick” Minehart, 37, of Rogers died Tuesday, March 12, 2002, in Lee County. He was born Aug. 29, 1964, in Poplar Bluff, Mo. He was a veteran of the Navy, where he received many honors, a member of the Arkansas Bar Association and the VFW Post No. 3031.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Fellowship Bible Church in Lowell and burial with military honors at 1 p.m. Monday at U.S. National cemetery in Fayetteville under the direction of Callison-Lough Funeral Service of Rogers.
He is survived by his wife, Maria; two sons, Carlton Brian and Kevin Luis Minehart, both of Rogers; his parents, Carl D. and Celesta L. Minehart of Russellville; a sister, Amy Chaknine; and a brother, Russell Minehart of Souel, South Korea.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in Fellowship Bible Church in Lowell.

Timothy Morris
ROGERS — Timothy “Tim” Ray Morris, 43, of Rogers died Tuesday, March, 12, 2002, in Lee County. He was born Aug. 2, 1958, in Memphis, Tenn. He received his bachelor’s degree in criminal Justice from University of Arkansas in Little Rock and his doctorate from University of Arkansas College of Law in Fayetteville; he served as deputy prosecuting attorney for Benton County from March 1986 to August 1987, associate attorney with James Lingle from 1987 to 1989, partners in firm Morris & Morris, Special Judge for Benton County Municipal Courts, Sulphur Springs city attorney and prosecuting attorney, was Benton County public defender contract attorney for several municipal courts in Bethel Heights, Pea Ridge, Rogers, Lowell and Little Flock, a member of Benton County Bar Association, Washington County Bar Association, American Bar Association, CJA Panel attorney for the U.S. District Court for Western District of Arkansas, Arkansas Trial Lawyers Association, vice president of Student Bar Association, president for Rogers Chapter and Regional Director, charter member and treasurer of Civitan International of the Roger Chapter, Optimist Club of Rogers, Rogers-Lowell Chamber of Commerce, Benton County Republican County committee, National Rifle Association, PTA and the Civil Air Patrol, attended Fellowship Bible Church and a member of Second Baptist Church of West Helena.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Fellowship Bible Church in Lowell with burial at Benton County Memorial Park cemetery in Rogers under the direction of Callison-Lough Funeral Home of Rogers.
He is survived by his wife, Victoria; a daughter, Samantha Grace Morris of Rogers; a stepdaughter, Jennifer Nicole Wooten of Villa Rica, Ga.; his parents, JT and Rebcca Morris of West Helena; a sister, Karla Jeanne Oldham of Rogers; two brothers, James Keith Morris of Olive Branch, Miss., and Steven Morris of Bentonville; paternal grandmother, Christine Morris of Memphis, Tenn.; and maternal grandmother, Ruth Garrison of Popular Grove.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in Fellowship Bible Church in Lowell.
Memorial contributions may be made to Arkansas Children’s Hospital or St. Jude’s Children Research Center in Memphis.

Lavell Kyle
HARTMAN — Lavell Kyle, 70, of Hartman died Tuesday, March 19, 2002, in Little Rock. She was born July 19, 1931, in Hartman. She was a cook at Westside School at Coal Hill, a member of Coal Hill VFW Auxiliary and a Methodist. She was the widow of James. E. Kyle.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday in Hartman Methodist Church with burial at West Mount Zion cemetery in Hartman under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home of Clarksville.
She is survived by two sons, Bruce Kyle of Madison, Ala., and James Allen Kyle of Russellville; three sisters, Lawana Douthit, Fannie Jean Fowler and Joan Stiles, all of Hartman; a brother, Conrad Stalling of Bonita, La.; and three grandchildren.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Wilma Rogers
Wilma Jean Rogers, 72, of Van Buren died Sunday, March 17, 2002, in Conway. She was a member of Van Buren First Baptist Church and a retired secretary for the church. She was the widow of Edward Lee Rogers.
Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church in Van Buren under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
She is survived by two daughters, Debbie Baker of Ben Kulu, Indonesia, and Janet Tracey of McKinney, Texas; two sons, Paul and David Rogers, both of Conway; her mother, Bessie Lonsbury of Van Buren; three sisters, Barbara Hutchinson of Fort Smith, Helen McIntyre of Farmers Branch, Texas, and Margie Clinkenbeard of Waukesha, Wis.; a brother, George Lonsbury Jr. of Idaho; and nine grandchildren.
The family will visit with friends following the memorial service at Van Buren First Baptist Church.
Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church Building Fund or the Baptist Foreign Mission Board, c/o Van Buren First Baptist Church, 1121 E. Main St., Van Buren, AR 72956 or the Boy Scouts of America, 1401 S. 31st St., Fort Smith, AR.

Lucille West
Lucille Gertrude West, 73, of Fort Smith died Wednesday, March 20, 2002, in a local hospital. She was born Feb. 25, 1929, in Tupelo, Miss. She was a homemaker and a member of First Pentecostal Temple. She was the widow of Johnny West.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Monday in Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Shady Grove cemetery in Clarendon.
She is survived by five daughters, Betty West, Janice Hogan and Hollie Parks, all of Fort Smith, Martha Ann Howard of Alton, Ill., and Lillie Butler of Stuttgart; five sons, Emanuel West of Detroit, Johnny West of Fort Smith, Walter Woods of Chicago, Robert Lee Body Jr. of Muldrow and Clark Body of Clarendon; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

John Mays
MULDROW — John “J.W.” Mays, of Muldrow died Monday, March 18, 2002, in a Little Rock hospital. He was a veteran of the Army and a member of Mount Moriah Baptist Church and the Widow’s Son Masonic Lodge.
Funeral will be 12:30 p.m. Friday in Mount Zion C.M.C. Church with burial at U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Rowell-Parish Mortuary of Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; two sons, Harold of Little Rock and Carroll of Fort Smith; his parents, Warner and Willie Mae Mays of Fort Smith; six sisters, Ida Mae Spears of Fort Smith, Callie Mae Driver, Kathy Mays, Peal Elam, Fannie Booker and Brigetta Shepherd, all of Lawton, Okla.; three brothers, Johnnie B., Warner Jr. and Danny Ray, all of Fort Smith; and three grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Ocie Releford, James Morgan, Henry Ball, Bobby Shepherd Sr., Everett Rainey and Thomas Brock.

Summer Lovette
Summer Dawn Lovette, 19, of Van Buren died Tuesday, March 19, 2002, in a local hospital. She was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, where she stage manager and a member of Quest, a graduate of Van Buren High School class of 2002, a member of the National Honor Society, 4 H, King Opera House, John Doe Theater Group.
Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Friday in Harvest Time Tabernacle. The was cremated under the direction of Rowell-Parish Mortuary of Fort Smith.
She is survived by adoptive parents, Floyd “Buddy” and Jeannette Lovette of Van Buren and birth parents, Kelly Smith of Van Buren and Harold Overmyer of Winslow; three sisters, Kimberly Phillips and Michelle Lovette, both of Van Buren, and Katherine Blair of Rock Island; and a brother, J.W. Smith of Van Buren.
The family will visit with friends at 306 Shady Lane of Van Buren.

Ashton Mattox
HOWE — Ashton Lynn Mattox, infant daughter of Jessica Mattox and Wayne Smith II of Howe, died Wednesday, March 20, 2002, in Poteau. She was born Jan. 11, 2002, in Tulsa.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday in Poteau First Assembly of God with burial at Howe cemetery under the direction of Mallory Funeral Home of Spiro.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by a sister, Codie Smith of Hontubby; a brother, Jeffery Shipman of Hontubby; maternal grandparents, Dennis Mattox of Howe and Sherry Kenney of Howe; paternal grandparents, Wayne and Smith and I and Verna Smith of Hontubby; maternal great-grandmother, Vickie Keeney of Hodgen; paternal great-grandmother, Betty Rose of Waldron; maternal great-great-grandmother, Lucille Kenney of Plainview; and paternal great-great-grandmother, Mary West of Heavener.
The family will visit with friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Faye Franklin
OZARK — Faye Leona Franklin, 78, of Ozark died Wednesday, March 20, 2002, in Ozark. She was born Aug. 8, 1923, in Waldron. She was a homemaker and member of Calvary Baptist Church. She was the widow of Owen Franklin.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday in Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel of Ozark with burial at cemetery Ridge in Ozark.
She is survived by a daughter, Phyllis Wisdom of Ozark; a son, Paul Franklin of Ozark; a brother, Theo Highfill of San Antonio; four grandchildren, Peni Holderman, Steve Wisdom, Tobie and Matthew Franklin and four great-grandchildren.
The family will visit with friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Thomas Albert Bennett
Thomas Albert Bennett, 50, of Fort Smith, formerly of Las Vegas, died Friday, April 26, 2002. He was a self-employed carpenter.
The body will be cremated under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home in Van Buren. At this time, no memorial service has been set.
He was preceded in death by his father, Albert Robert Bennett; his brother, James Alan Bennett and his wife, Robin D. Bennett.
He is survived by his mother, Jeanette Bennett Bergman of the Sugarloaf community, his sister, Barbara Bennett Rinehart of Fort Smith and his nephew, Christopher Alan Bennett Rinehart along with many, many friends.

Dorothy O. King
Dorothy O. King, 81, of Fort Smith died Saturday, April 27, 2002, in a local hospital. She was born Oct. 21, 1920, in Bentonville. She was a retired employee of Harris Baking Company and a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. today at U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Fort Smith.
She is survived by a stepdaughter, Janet Sue King of Indianapolis; eight cousins, Gerald Ford of Bella Vista, Bobby E. Fletcher of Fort Smith, David Mackey of Little Rock, Wayne Mackey of Fayetteville, Gene Mackey of Kansas City, Mo., Betty Jean Evans of Murrieta, Calif., and Hattie Geisler of Placentia, Calif., and Mary Louise Deist of Aurora, Colo.

Phillip Swafford
Phillip Swafford, 92, of Spiro entered into rest Tuesday, April 30, 2002, in a Fort Smith hospital. He was born Dec. 26, 1909, in Roff, Okla. Phillip was a retired construction worker, farmer and cattleman and was of the Assembly of God faith. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Emma Houston Swafford, six sisters and one brother. Phillip is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Emmaline of the home; a daughter, Doris McClain of Greenwood; a son, Aaron Swafford of Spiro; one grandchild, Jami Hamby and two great-grandchildren, Jonessa and Aaron Hamby. Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at New Hope cemetery in Spiro officiated by the Rev. O.M. Wilson. The body may be viewed until noon Thursday. Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Fort Smith.

Freida Moore
SPIRO — Freida Isabelle Moore, 99, of Spiro died Monday, April 29, 2002, in Fort Smith. She was the widow of Lyman “Sud” Moore.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday at United Methodist Church in Spiro with burial at Spiro City cemetery under the direction of Mallory Funeral Home of Spiro.
She is survived by a brother, Martin J. Ward of Marshall, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Bud Cosgrove, Dale Stout, Sherman Cox, Jim Allen, Jerry Mann and Don Atkinson.
The body may be viewed at the funeral home.

Dennis Cherry
BOONEVILLE — Dennis L. Cherry, 63, of Booneville, formerly of Muldrow, died Sunday, April 28, 2002, in Fort Smith. He was an Army veteran, a retired postal employee for the U.S. Post Office and a member of Bruton Masonic Lodge of Muldrow.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. today at First United Methodist Church of Muldrow with Masonic graveside service at Muldrow Memory Gardens in Muldrow under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Tommie; and two brothers, Jim and Mike Cherry, both of Muldrow.
Pallbearers will be his nephews and grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, Muldrow, OK 74948.

Lizzie Clark
HACKETT — Lizzie Clark, 100, of Hackett died Sunday, April 28, 2002, in her home. She was a homemaker and a member of Pleasant Hill Free Will Baptist Church in Hackett. She was the widow of Wick Clark.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Pleasant Hill Freewill Baptist Church with burial at Pleasant Hill cemetery in Hackett under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood.
She is survived by a daughter, Lavada McBride of Hackett; five sons, Kenneth Clark of Berryville, Pete and Lloyd Clark of Hackett, John W. Clark of Olathe, Kan., and Paul Willard Clark of Rodeo, Calif.; 25 grandchildren, 62 great-grandchildren and 55 great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Danny Ruggles, Tony Collier, Leon Wiley, Ronnie Fox, Brett Short and Sam Black.
The body may be viewed 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to Pleasant Hill cemetery, c/o Wilma Mae Mason, 3810 Quillman Road, Greenwood, AR 72936.

Dale Oliphant
STIGLER — Dale Ivan Oliphant, 23, of Stigler died Monday, April 29, 2002, in Blackwell, Okla. He was an auto service technician.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Friday at Mallory Funeral Home Chapel in Stigler with burial at Garland cemetery in Stigler.
He is survived by his fiancee, Kaylee Sue Long of Stigler; his parents, Jeannie McGuire of the home and Walter Oliphant of Grand Lake, Okla.; five sisters, Jessie Pridmore of Stigler, Amy and Trish Oliphant, both of Kansas, Mariah and Angel Oliphant, both of Grand Lake; three brothers, Paul Oliphant of Kansas, Jake Pridmore of Stigler and Walter Oliphant of Grand Lake; maternal grandparents, John G. and Susie McGuire of Tamaha, Okla.; and paternal grandmother, Nora Faye Bowers of Grand Lake, Okla.
