Lester George Ruestow, 83, of Fort Smith died Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2002, in Fort Smith. He was a retired accountant for Mid-America Industries, an Army veteran, serving during World War II, a life member of the National Rifle Association and a member of the Fort Smith Bowling Association.
Funeral will be 9 a.m. today at Edwards Funeral Home chapel with burial at the U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith.
He is survived by one son, John L. Ruestow of Fort Smith; one sister, Beatrice Vaccaro of Buffalo, N.Y.; one brother, Edward F. Ruestow of Elma, N.Y.; and two grandchildren, Sarah Stillman of Fort Smith and Michele Clayton of Independence, Mo.
Adam McCroskey
HENRYETTA, Okla. — Adam McCroskey, 81, died Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2002, in Henryetta, Okla. He was born May 8, 1921. He was an Army veteran and prisoner of war, serving during World War II and receiving the Asiatic-Pacific ribbon, Bronze service star, Purple Heart, American Defense service cross, Philippine Liberation ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and the Cross of Valor from Oklahoma. He was a member of the X-POWs, the American Defenders of Batton and Corrigidor, and attended Henryetta First Baptist Church.
Services will be today at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Henryetta with burial at 1 p.m. at the U.S. National cemetery in Fort Gibson under the direction of Rogers Funeral Home of Henryetta.
He is survived by his wife, Helen; his children, Patricia Johnston and Carl McCroskey, both of Guthrie, Okla., Diana Yates of Henryetta, Janet Ryan of Wann, Okla., Teresa Yancey of Henryetta, Brenda Jeffries of Sapulpa, Okla., Connie Jordan of Escondido, Calif., and Kevin McCroskey of Choctaw, Okla.; a sister, Zella Graham of Spring Valley, Calif.; his brother, James of Henryetta; 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Allen Johnston, Stephen Fox, Kenneth Wheat, Phillip Wheat, Roy Ryan and Bobby Jeffries.
Mary Miller
COAL HILL — Mary L. Miller, 73, of Coal Hill died Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2002, at an area hospital. She was born Sept. 24, 1929. She was a homemaker and a member of Full Gospel Temple in Ozark.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Full Gospel Temple in Ozark with burial at East Point cemetery in London under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home of Clarksville.
She is survived by three daughters, Mary D. Noyes of Coal Hill, Kathy Parker of Flat Rock and Emily Davis of Ozark; one son, Steve Noyes of Alex; two stepsons, Jack Miller of Coal Hill and Bobby Miller of Fort Smith; 22 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers are Don Hurst, Sean Smith, Jim Elms, Jim Smith, Ronnie Butler, Ray Wood, Andy Graham and Duane Yates.
The family will visit with friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Betty Greer
ALMA — Betty E. Greer, 86, of Alma died Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2002, at a local nursing home. She was the retired owner and operator of Greer’s Copper Kettle, a member of the Church of Christ and the widow of M.L. Greer.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Gracelawn cemetery under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
She is survived by two sons, Tommy Greer of Alma and Martin Greer of Gateway; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers are Tommy Lloyd, Joe Lloyd III, David Newton, Tommy Vogt, Bill Battles and Bill Fraley.
The family will visit with friends today from 4 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
Eica Calcote
GLENDALE, Ariz. — Eica Elizabeth Calcote, 90, of Glendale, Ariz., formerly of Roland, Okla., died Sunday, Nov. 24, 2002, in Glendale. She was born June 19, 1912, in Roland. She was a homemaker and the widow of Nathan Cade Calcote.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Victory Temple Pentecostal Church in Roland with burial at Upper Camp Creek cemetery northeast of Muldrow, Okla., under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Muldrow.
She is survived by two daughters, Rose Mattox of Hockley, Texas, and Carmoleta Roberts of Glendale, Ariz.; one brother, Magellan O’Neal of Liberty community; nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Pallbearers are David Liere, Steve Mattox, Richard Spiller III, Randy, Ross and Scott Spiller.
Viewing will be today from noon to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

POTEAU — Kenneth Walter Cantrell, 66, of Poteau died Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2002, in Poteau. He was born Oct. 26, 1936 in Howe, Okla., and was a laborer.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Springhill cemetery in Monroe, Okla., under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.
He is survived by one daughter, Belinda Connelly of Pocola; one son, Jackie Cantrell of Pocola; two brothers, Cleve Cantrell and Sherman Cantrell, both of Poteau; and three grandchildren.
Earl Hooker
MENA — Earl Wayne Hooker Sr., 66, of Mena died Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2002, at a local hospital. He was born July 28, 1936, in Nashville. He worked for Swepco in DeQueen, U.S. Motors in Mena and was owner/operator of H.C. Walker Construction for 25 years. He was the state director of the Arkansas Good Sams Club, a life member of the Good Sams Club, a member of the Lions Club and served on the boards of directors for the Tri-Lakes Water Association, the Special Olympics and the Special Olympics Torch Run.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Pleasant Grove cemetery in Cove under the direction of Hall Funeral Service of Mena.
He is survived by his wife, Joy; one son, Wayne Hooker of Mena; two daughters, Teri Blair of Springdale and Charla Hollin of Mena; one brother, Rodger Hooker of West Helena; and six grandchildren.
Edmond Gaudin
MENA — Edmond P. Gaudin, 75, of Mena died Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2002, in Mena. He was born Dec. 31, 1926, in Shreveport, La. He served in the Air Force for 29 years, retiring as a lieutenant colonel, and was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church.
A memorial Mass will be noon Saturday at St. Agnes Catholic Church under the direction of Beasley-Wood Funeral Home of Mena.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Catherine “Pat” Gaudin; one son, James V. Gaudin of Taylor, Texas; four daughters, Jeanne M. Coffey of Irving, Texas, Marjorie A. Gaudin of New Orleans, Estelle M. Lyons of Glendale, Ariz., and Helen M. Teague of Oklahoma City; one brother, Louis C. Gaudin of Long Beach, Texas; three sisters, Sister Mary Ann Gaudin of Doyline, La., Joyce L. Fox of Shreveport, La., and Estelle A. Nasser of The Woodlands, Texas; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

James Regian
BOONEVILLE — James Regian, 89, of Booneville died Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2002, in a Fort Smith hospital. He was a farmer.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Roberts Memorial Chapel in Booneville with burial at Ellington cemetery in Magazine.
He is survived by his wife, Ernestine Regian; three sons, Leonard and James Regian, both of California, and Willie Regian of Oklahoma; one daughter, Flora May Marshall of California; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
William Grant Doyel
William Grant Doyel, 46, of Mountain Home died Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2002.
He was a certified public accountant, Sunday school teacher and an Army veteran.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday at the East Side Baptist Church in Mountain Home with burial at Baxter Memorial Gardens.
He is survived by his wife, Lila; a daughter, Anna Lea; a son, Galen; a sister, Elizabeth Simpson; and four nieces and nephews.

CLARKSVILLE — J.B. “Bill” Houston, 74, of Clarksville died Friday, March 8, 2002, in his home. He was born March 9, 1927, in Clarksville. He was a member of Clarksville Church of Christ and an Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He formerly worked for Karstetter & Glass Body Shop in Fayetteville for 28 years and was employed by Nite Lite for several years.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in Clarksville Church of Christ with burial at Stillwell cemetery in Clarksville under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home of Clarksville.
He is survived by his wife, Irene Stamps Houston; two daughters, Donna Nichols of Saudi Arabia and Debra Briggs of Hamilton, Mont.; and three grandchildren, Matthew and Hayli Briggs, both of Hamilton, and Derek Nichols of Saudi Arabia.

Bonnie Ann Foarde, 46, of Fort Smith died Saturday, March 9, 2002, in a local hospital. She was a physical therapy assistant and a member of the American Physical Therapy Association. She graduated with honors in July 1999 from Carl Albert State College with an associate of applied science degree and was a member of Phi Theta Kappa.
Funerals will be 1 p.m. Tuesday in Putman Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith and 11 a.m. Friday in Christian Reform Church in Cedar, Iowa, with burial at Fremont cemetery in Fremont, Iowa. Arrangements are by Putman Funeral Home of Fort Smith and Garland-Van Arkel-Langkamp of Oskaloosa, Iowa.

She is survived by a son, Jackie Keith of New Blaine; three sisters, Claudia Gough of Fresno, Calif., Pauline Roberts and Elminah Thomas, both of McAlester, Okla.; two brothers, Rufus Tolbert of McAlester and Vernon Tolbert of Plano, Texas; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Gaylon Walker
COQUILLE, Ore. — Gaylon Scott Walker, 82, of Coquille, Ore., formerly of Greenwood, died Wednesday, March 6, 2002, in his home. He was born March 21, 1919, in Hector. For the last ten years, he had been a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Coquille and was a former member of First Baptist Church in Greenwood.
He enlisted in the Army Feb. 11, 1941, and was a member of the 31st Infantry stationed in the Philippines during World War II. He was captured on the island of Bataan, was a participant in the Bataan Death March and was later transported to Japan, where he remained a prisoner of war for 3 1/2 years. He retired from the Postal Service in Fort Smith and was a lifetime member of Disabled American Veterans.
Graveside service and burial will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Lulu of Coquille; two daughters, Deborah Lamz of North Lauderdale, Fla., and Vanessa White of Hartford; a stepdaughter, Luanne Brown of Oregon; two sons, Joe Walker of Fort Smith and Vince Walker of Irving, Texas; four stepsons, Sydney Jensen of Fayetteville, N.C., and Steven Cupernall, Rodney Smith and Roy Reid, all of Oregon; two brothers, Ray Walker of Trumann and Edward “Hink” Walker of Mountain Home; 22 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
There will be no public viewing.

Funeral will be 1 p.m. today in Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Ethel; five daughters, Gayle McKeown and Teri Shure, both of Alma, Joie Fields of Arkoma, Barbara Parks of Columbia, S.C., and Glenda Meredith of Lavaca; three sisters, Sally Barker of Fort Smith, Velma Acord of Poteau and Loretta Adams of Wister; three brothers, Thell of San Angelo, Texas, Keith of Millington, Ill., and Bill of Fort Smith; 18 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
