Caroline Carrasco, 43, of Fort Smith died Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2002, in Fort Smith. She attended Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and was a former certified nursing assistant for Medi-Homes Nursing Center.
Memorial Mass will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Michael’s Catholic Church with a private family burial at Holy Cross cemetery under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
She is survived by a son, David Daniel Esquivel of Van Buren; her godmother, Rita Scherrey of Fort Smith; and legal guardians, Sam and Judy Evert of Van Buren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 322 N. Greenwood, Fort Smith, AR 72901.

Hazel Chitwood
Hazel Chitwood, 90, of Alma, formerly of Dyer, died Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2002, in Alma. She was a homemaker and was preceded in death by her husband, D.C. Chitwood; and a daughter, Marlene Chitwood.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Dyer cemetery in Dyer.
She is survived by a daughter, Kay Chitwood of Alma; a son, Scotty Chitwood of Ventura, Calif.; a sister, Ruth Mongold of Dyer; two brothers, Howard Kosier of Alma and Bob Kosier of San Antonio; a sister-in-law, Blanche Porter of Van Buren; a granddaughter, Becky Duarte of Camarillo, Calif.; two great-grandchildren, Erica Sanders of Alma and Merrilee Iverson of Thousand Oaks, Calif.; and one great-great-grandson, Phillip Shores of Alma.
Pallbearers will be Mike, Keith and Jeremy Gregory, Joe Porter, Jimmy and Jerry Harris.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Preston, James A. Arnold, Sam Ludington, Joe Wayne Harris and Fines Batchelor.
The family will visit with friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Ruth Hancock
Ruth Hancock, 89, of Paris died Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2002, in Paris. She was born Oct. 15, 1913, in Chismville and retired in 1975 as a first-grade teacher after teaching 40 years. She was listed in Outstanding Elementary Teachers of America, a member of Arkansas Teachers Association and National Education Association since 1938, since retirement a member of Arkansas Retired Teachers. She was member of the Logan County Library Board, a charter member of Alpha Theta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, a member of the Paris Business and Professional Women’s Club since 1942, where she served in every office and on all standing committees. She served as state legislative chairman in 1963, was named Woman of the Year in 1972. A member of First Baptist Church in Paris, she taught junior and intermediate girls for many years, was a member of the Business Women’s Circle of the church and a substitute teacher for the Women’s Adult Class. She was preceded in death by her parents, William T. Hancock and Mary Simmons Hancock; and three sisters, Lurlin McCubbin, Mary Hancock and Hazel Kimberling.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church in Paris with burial at Springhill cemetery in Chismville under the direction of Roller Funeral Home of Paris.
She is survived by two sisters, Dahlia Hancock and Mary Sue McCubbin, both of Paris; a brother, Neil Hancock of El Paso, Texas; 17 nieces and nephews; 20 great-nieces and nephews and 16 great-great-nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Mike Moffett, Larry Robinson, Leon Askins, Bill Featherston, Donald J. McCubbin and Don Kimberling.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Roy Hughes
LAMAR — Roy J. Hughes, 79, of Lamar died Monday, Dec. 23, 2002, in his home. He was a retired Army veteran and of the Assembly of God faith.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. today at Roller-Cox Funeral Home Chapel in Clarksville with burial at Oakland cemetery in Clarksville.
He is survived by his wife, Nettie; a daughter, Linda Sue Sabo of South Carolina; two sons, Billy Ray Hughes of Lamar and James Dale Hughes of Illinois; a sister, Polly Mouser of Illinois; 20 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Terry and Christopher Hughes, Gene Williams, J.L. Holman, Bryan Fetters and Bob Gilmer.

Lulu Daversa
Lulu Brooks Daversa, 80, of Van Buren died Thursday, Dec. 26, 2002, in a local hospital. She was born July 28, 1922, in Brockton, Mass. She was a homemaker, a Navy veteran, of the Catholic faith, a member of Women’s International Bowling Congress for 22 years, former house director of Vista Entertainment Center and the widow of Thomas Michael Daversa.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Eternal Hills Mortuary in Oceanside, Calif. Burial of cremains will be at Eternal Hills Memorial Park and Mortuary in Oceanside, Calif. Local arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Lavaca.
She is survived by a daughter, Debbie Andrews of Lavaca; a son, Thomas Michael Daversa of Escondido, Calif.; a brother, Lawrence Kavanaugh of Easton, Mass.; and three grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 919 N. Michigan, Suite 1100, Chicago, IL 60611.

David McMillen
HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE — David George McMillen, 64, of Hot Springs Village died Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2002, in a Hot Springs hospital. He was born Sept. 22, 1938, in Cabot, Pa. He was a retired manager for AES Corp., a member of Diamante Country Club, Hot Springs Village Men’s Golf, Hot Springs Village Anglers and the Christ of the Hills United Methodist Church.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Christ of the Hills United Methodist Church under the direction of CedarVale Funeral Home and cemetery of Hot Springs Village.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly; two daughters, Pamela Rose McMillen Hawks of Guilford, Conn., and Laurie Marie Hutchings of Lewisville, Texas; a son, John David McMillen of Houston; his mother, Kathryn McMillen of Saxonburg, Pa.; two sisters, Carol Walckesky of Cabot, Pa., and Kathy Wellner of Saxonburg, Pa.; and two grandchildren.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association.

Gary L. Landers, 26, of Fort Smith died Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2002, in a local hospital. He was of the Baptist faith.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. today at Ocker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Gill cemetery in Van Buren.
He is survived by his parents, Linda and Gary Landers of Fort Smith; two sisters, Christina and Michelle Landers, both of Escondido, Calif.; four brothers, Fredrick and William Brewer, Michael Reed and Anthony Harrison, all of Fort Smith; and his companion, Donald Bewers of Fort Smith.
Pallbearers will be Fredrick and William Brewer, Johnny and Jeffrey Jones, Thomas and James Landers.

Mary Selby
LAMAR — Mary Jane Selby, 95, of Lamar died Thursday, Dec. 26, 2002, in Clarksville. She was a homemaker and of the Church of Christ faith.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Lamar Church of Christ with burial at Lamar cemetery under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home of Clarksville.
She is survived by a sister, Virginia Matthews of Chantilly, Va.; and two brothers, John Selby of Clarksville and Dell Selby of Lakewood, Calif.
Pallbearers will be James Cox, William Cagle, Selby Brown, Charles Over, Don Cochran and Verlon Harris.

Mattie Heifner
COVE — Mattie Ann Heifner, 85, of Cove died Thursday, Dec. 26, 2002, in her home. She was born Feb. 13, 1917, in Athens, Ala. She was a homemaker and a member of Pleasant Grove Church of the Nazarene. She was the widow of Earl Withem.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Pleasant Grove Church of the Nazarene in Cove with burial at Pleasant Grove cemetery under the direction of Beasley-Wood Funeral Home of Mena.
She is survived by her husband, Frank; two sons, Ron and Mike Irwin, both of Cove; a stepdaughter, Dee Roberts of Cove; five stepsons, David, Frankie, Ronnie and Calvin Heifner and Robert Richardson; a brother, George “Uncle Dump” Smallman of California; several grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Lela Muncy
KEOTA — Lela Moore Muncy, 93, of Keota died Friday, Dec. 27, 2002, in Stigler. She was the widow of Oliver G. Muncy.
Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Mallory Funeral Home Chapel in Stigler with burial at Keota City cemetery.
She is survived by two daughters, Charlynne Shaw and Jane Lashley, both of Keota; a son, Glen Dee “Sonny” Muncy of Keota; 12 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Gary Lynn Shaw, Rick Monroe, Keith, Alan, Mark, Kevin, Kent and Wes Lashley.
The body may be viewed at the funeral home.

ALMA — Margaret Ann House, 60, of Alma died Thursday, Dec. 26, 2002, in Alma. She was an accountant for CCT Trucking in Van Buren and a member of First Baptist Church in Van Buren.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Gill cemetery in Van Buren.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry; a daughter, Katie Duncan of Ozark; three sisters, Sharon Almond of Mulberry, Glenda Casteel of Vian and Connie Casteel of Alma; and two grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be James and David Blackwell, Kevin, Scott, Ron and Robert Casteel.

Kyongyun Lee
Kyongyun Lee, 61, of Van Buren died Friday, Dec. 27, 2002, in a local hospital. He was a line worker at Tyson Foods in Van Buren and a member of First Presbyterian Church in Fort Smith.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Gracelawn cemetery in Van Buren.
He is survived by his wife, Keumja; a daughter, Mijung Blemmel of Talihina, Okla.; two sons, Kyuho Lee of Fort Smith and Kyu Shun Lee of Van Buren; and eight grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Joe Blemmel, Kyuho Lee, Kyu Shun Lee and Rodney Myers.

PARIS — Duane Boncheff, 37, of Paris died Thursday, Dec. 26, 2002, at a Forrest City hospital.
He was of a Christian faith.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at Paris Christian Center with burial at Baxley cemetery in Paris under the direction of Murry Funeral Home in Paris.
He is survived by his fiancee, Holly Wheeley; a daughter, Angel Marie Boncheff of Magazine; three sons, Blane Boncheff of Paris, Duane Neil Boncheff Jr. of Paris and Autin Wheeley of Batesville; his grandparents, Ray and Eva Cameron of Paris; and two brothers, Stacy Wayne Boncheff of Conway and Robbie Boncheff.
Pallbearers will be Sam McElhaney, Leonard Fulmer; Charles Jackson, Alfred Ray Thompson, Jody Jackson and Gary Keenan.
The family will visit with friends today from 2 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home.

Robert Dotson Coward, 79, of Fort Smith died Friday, Dec. 27, 2002, at his home.
He was a retired public works employee and a veteran of World War II.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Monday at Pine Log cemetery near Booneville under the direction of Martin Funeral Home in Mansfield.
