Shirley May Anderson Morris
Shirley May Anderson Morris was born April 15, 1935, in Ames, Iowa, the daughter of Phillip and Alice (Johnson) Anderson. She died and entered the joy of her Savior’s presence on Thursday, Dec. 26, 2002, in Fort Smith.
On July 21, 1956, she married
Paul A. Morris in Boone, Iowa, and lived in Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Neosho, Missouri; Security, Colo.; Marshalltown and Sioux City, Iowa; and North Little Rock and Fort Smith.
She was a graduate of Iowa Methodist School of Nursing and worked as a registered nurse her entire life until she retired from Cooper Clinic in 2000. She was a member of Grand Avenue Baptist Church where she sang faithfully in the choir.
She is survived by her husband, Paul; four children, David Morris and his wife Lori of Sioux City, Pamela Miille and her husband Tim of Blackburn, Mo., Cathleen Most and her husband Richard of Van Buren, Steve Morris and his wife Dana of North Little Rock; 12 grandchildren, Sarah, Emily and Anna Morris of Sioux City, Angela Slimmer and her husband Brian of Blackburn, Mo., Petty Officer 3rd Class Aaron Miille and his wife Maren of North Charleston, S.C., Seaman Alexis Miille of Naples, Italy, Rachel, Ryan and Caleb Most of Van Buren, and Paul, Jacob and Benjamin Morris of North Little Rock; a great-grandchild, Nathaniel Slimmer of Blackburn; two sisters, Charlene Anderson of Norwalk, Iowa, and Carolyn Nagle and her husband Dave of Des Moines.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Grand Avenue Baptist Church under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at Schroeder Memorial Chapel in Boone with burial at Boone Memorial Park cemetery.

Donald Ray Darden
Donald Ray Darden, 62, of Fort Smith died Friday, Dec. 27, 2002, in his home. He was a heavy equipment operator and retired from TAW in Mulberry.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at Putman Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
He is survived by his wife, Linda, and Eric Vicencio of the home; six daughters, Audra Lemus and Sherri Collins, both of Fort Smith, Terri Wilson and Janet Darden, both of California, Peggy Darden of Washington and Sandra Snell of Cedarville; a son, Ricky King of Arkoma; a stepdaughter, Robin Lensing of Fort Smith; three sisters, Shirley Cox and Donna Wheeler, both of Arkoma, and Sandra Overstreet of Fort Smith; an aunt, Ruby Sweeten of Rock Island; and 10 grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Jonathan and Anthony Overstreet, Kevin and Keith Wheeler, Mike Cox and Ricky King.
Hinary pallbearers will be Glen Lensing, Juan Rodriguez, Sam Jeffcoat, and Jim Bean.

Pauline Qualls
Pauline Qualls, 72, of Fort Smith died Thursday, Dec. 26, 2002, in her home. She was a homemaker and of the Assembly of God faith. She was the widow of Wallace Junior Qualls.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at McConnell Funeral Home Chapel in Greenwood with burial at Hartford Memorial Park in Hartford.
She is survived by four daughters, Linda Williams and Pam Cozort, both of Greenwood, Paulette Haynes and Jeanette Sides, both of Fort Smith; a son, Joe Ellis of Sapulpa, Okla.; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Harold, Garold and Nicholas Cozort, Paul Getz, Bryan and Bobby Goodwin.
The body may be viewed 1 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will visit with friends from 4 to 6 p.m.
Bernadine Alice Stroup
Bernadine Alice Stroup, 82, of Amarillo, Texas, formerly of Fort Smith, died Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2002. Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at National cemetery in Fort Smith. Pallbearers will be Jerry and Kenneth Moore, E.G. Rowe and Glen Rowe.
Mrs. Stroup was born June 19, 1920. She lived many years in New Mexico before moving to Oklahoma. There, she was an active member in the Eastern Star. After retiring from the Civil Service, she moved to the Methodist Village in Fort Smith. In 2001, she made her home in Amarillo, Texas, where she was president of the Residents Council of the Elizabeth Jane Bivins Home for the aged.
Survivors include two sons, Jerry Moore and wife Felicia of Amarillo and Kenneth Moore and wife Judy of Clayton, N.M.; a brother, E.G. Rowe of Mena; and a granddaughter, Jamie D. Moore of Bufflo Valley, Okla.

Nancy J. Bryan
Nancy J. Bryan, beloved wife of Mack Bryan, passed away in Columbus, Ohio. Nancy was called to join the saints on the birthday of our Lord and savior, Jesus Christ. Nancy was born in Portland, Ore., on July 3, 1953. Salutorian of her class at Sandy High School, she was active in Portland civic affairs and politics. Nancy and Mack moved to Columbus in 1994 where she was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. Her parents are Paul and Geneva Van Ende of Boring, Ore. She is survived by her husband, Mack and her stepson Daniel Bryan of Hilliard, Ohio; her mother and father; sisters Chris Welling of Boring and Patty Spencer of Greshem, Ore.; nieces and nephews Dana Brekke, Renae Bedola, Amanda Thompson and Bryan Thompson. Friends will be received Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Edwards Funeral Home and services will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. in Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Robert Bryan officiating. Burial will be at the National cemetery in Fort Smith. Service will be held in Boring at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Good Shepherd Church. She was dearly and greatly loved. Her decades-long fight against the ravages of diabetes was epic and inspirational. Geneva J. Haywood
Geneva J. Haywood, 83, of Alma died Sunday, July 21, 2002, in a local hospital. She was a retired nurse at Sequoyah Medical in Springville, Calif., and the widow of Archie Haywood.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Friday at Gracelawn cemetery in Van Buren under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Alma.
She is survived by two sons, Bob Haywood of Porterville, Calif., and Jim Haywood of Alma; five grandchildren, Archella Willhite, Connie Haywood and Karen Armstrong, all of Alma, William Haywood of Prague, Czech Republic, and Mark Haywood of Van Buren; 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Larry, Clinton and Bobby Nixon, Greg, Jason and Justin Newhart.

Tony R. Worden, 42, of Kansas City, Mo., died Monday, July 22, 2002, in Kansas City. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Fort Smith, the Knights of Columbus and was a chemist for Cook’s Coating and Polyester.
Rosary will be 7 p.m. today at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
Mass will be 11 a.m. Friday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with burial at Calvary cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Fentress Mortuary of Fort Smith.
He is survived by his parents, Tony and Judy Worden of Fort Smith; two sisters, Holly Weisenfels of Fort Smith and Robin Cohea of Greenwood; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be David Bushkuhl, Rick Gammill, Parker Shaw, Mike Cohea, John Lindquist and John Weisenfels. Honorary pallbearers will be Tyler Shaw and Matthew Weisenfels.

POTEAU — Sam L. Harris, 87, of Poteau died Tuesday, July 23, 2002, in Poteau. He was born Jan. 26, 1915, in Poteau. He taught school for 41 years and was a member of the Masonic Lodge, AARP, OREA and LeFlore County RE.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Evans & Miller Funeral Home Chapel of Memories in Poteau with burial at Oakland cemetery in Poteau.
He is survived by his wife, Christine; two sons, Sam Harris Jr. of Redondo Beach, Calif., and Hank Harris of Poteau; three grandchildren, Sondra, Matt and Seva Harris.
Pallbearers will be Jim and Charles Horne, Doug Walker, David Robertson, Doug Stone, Ron Barber and Barry Hughes.

SPIRO — Pearl Gregory, 54, of Spiro died Wednesday, July 24, 2002, in Fort Smith. She attended Shady Point Assembly of God.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Shady Point Assembly of God with burial at Macedonia cemetery in Pocola under the direction of Mallory Funeral Home of Spiro.
She is survived by her husband, Edgar; a son, Edgar Allen Gregory of Spiro; two stepsons, Jimmy Blevens of Oklahoma and Bill Blevens of Eufaula, Okla.; four sisters, Freda Jones of Watson, Okla., Frankie LeSuer of Heavener, Yvonne Ertman of Pittsburg, Kan., and Joanne Farley of Hooks, Texas; three brothers, Bud Stinson of RioDel, Calif., Eugene Stinson of Claremore, Okla., and Bobby Stinson of Heavener; 11 stepgrandchildren and 19 stepgreat-grandchildren.

SHADY POINT — Harold Edward Fox, 67, of Shady Point died Tuesday, July 23, 2002, in Poteau. He was born Oct. 20, 1934, in Bokoshe. He was a carpenter.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Evans & Miller Funeral Home Chapel of Memories in Poteau.
He is survived by six daughters, Dana LuAnn Harp, Rhonda June Hunt, Joyce Elaine Turner, Wanda Annette Pineda, Karen Jean Perry and Constance Faye Whitsett; four sons, Jerry Edward and Ricky Lynn Fox and Roy Allen and Timothy D. Holter.

FLINT, Mich. — Wyatt Brock Jr., 69, of Flint, Mich., formerly of Muldrow, died Thursday, July 18, 2002, in Flint, Mich. He was a Army veteran and retired from Buick Hydromatic Plant No. 81.
Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Shady Grove Baptist Church with burial at U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Rowell-Parish Mortuary of Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley; a daughter, Karen Simone of Flint, Mich.; four sons, Gregory Brock of Atlanta, Brian Brock, Vincent Patton and Antonio Roche, all of Flint, Mich.; two stepdaughters, Diana Lynn Gladney of Atlanta and Dedra Long of Saginaw, Mich.; five stepsons, Charles Vann of Little Rock, Michael and Donald Vann, both of Fort Smith, Vincent Vann of Flower Mound, Texas, and Shaun of Flint, Mich.; four sisters, Omie Bean of Fresno, Calif., Rosie Harris and V. CLARKSVILLE — Ella Cotton Reed, 88, of Clarksville died Tuesday, July 23, 2002, in a local nursing home. She was born Jan. 19, 1914, in Moffett. She was a member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at Hardwicke Funeral Home Chapel in Clarksville with burial at Oakland cemetery in Clarksville.
She is survived by a daughter, Lilene Perry of Clarksville; a son, William David Reed of Dardanelle; two adopted sons, Carl Lee Cotton of Clarksville and Charles Cotton of Fort Smith; two sisters, Lois Wrye and Shirley Alston, both of Clarksville; two brothers, C.H. Cotton of Fort Smith and Leroy Cotton of Clarksville; four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Eldon Hamby
WINDSOR, Mo. — Eldon B. Hamby, 61, of Windsor, formerly of Muldrow, died Monday, July 22, 2002, in Kansas City, Mo. He was born Nov. 6, 1940, in Muldrow. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War, a retired metal fabricator at Forgecraft in Fort Smith and a Pentecostal.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Friday at Lee’s Chapel cemetery south of Muldrow under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Muldrow.
He is survived by his wife, Janet; four daughters, Melinda and Diana Hamby, both of the home, Debbie Andersen of Sedalia, Mo., and Lisa Marie Hamby of California; two sons, Bobby Johnson of Sedalia and Eldon Lee Hamby of Roland; his mother, Rebecca Frances Hamby of Muldrow; five brothers, Eddie Barrier of Independence, Mo., Roger “R.D.” and Alvie Hamby, both of Muldrow, Teddy Dean Etter of Claycomo, Mo., and Harold Eugene Etter of Raytown, Mo.; and several grandchildren.

Nan Helms, 67, of Van Buren died Thursday, Nov. 14, 2002, at a local hospital. She was an administrative assistant at Rite Choice Trucking Company and had also worked for both Citizens Bank and Peoples Bank in Van Buren.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Dora cemetery in Dora.
She is survived by her husband, Ken; a daughter, Pat Rice of Kosciusko, Miss.; a son, Kenny Helms of Van Buren; a sister, Alta Wolfe of Van Buren; a brother, Jerry Knight of Fort Smith; three grandchildren and a great grandchild.

Mark Charles Farley, 39, of Fort Smith died Monday, Nov. 11, 2002, in Franklin County. He was born June 3, 1963, and was a former supervisor for Crain Industries.
Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Monday at Lewis Funeral Chapel. The body was cremated.
He is survived by a daughter, Samantha Redden of Van Buren; his mother, Helen Daca of Horseshoe Bend; his father, Charles Farley of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; two sisters, Robin Jump of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and Amanda Farley of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and three brothers, Randall Farley of Oklahoma City, and Charles and Justin Farley, both of Cedar Rapids.
