Harley Matthews
STIGLER — Harley G. “Buddy” Matthews, 56, of Stigler died Tuesday, April 15, 2003, in Stigler. He was born Aug. 9, 1946, in Oklahoma City. He was the former owner of Harley’s Sporting Goods and worked for Texas Oil and Gas, graduated from North West Classen in 1964, graduated with a bachelor’s degree in wildlife biology at Oklahoma State University, worked as a research assistant with Oklahoma Wildlife Department, served in the Army as a sergeant during the Vietname War and was a member of the United Methodist Church in Stigler and the Stigler Bass Club.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at United Methodist Church in Stigler with burial at Stigler City cemetery under the direction of Mallory Funeral Home of Stigler.
He is survived by his wife, Sally; a daughter, Regina Robinson of Stigler; a son, Chris Matthews of Springdale; a sister, Gale Burke of Midwest City, Okla.; and three grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Bryan and Kevin Burke, Wesley Wilson, Jerry Holt, Mark Clayton, Marc Nance and Sam Rose.
Freda Storey
CHARLESTON — Freda Katherine Storey, 80, of Charleston died Tuesday, April 15, 2003, in a local nursing home. She was born July 23, 1922, in Franklin County. She was a retired beautician and a member of Branch Free Will Baptist Church. She was the widow of Marvin Storey.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Smith Mortuary Chapel in Charleston with burial at Center Valley cemetery in Bloomer.
She is survived by two daughters, Sandra Sawyer of Alma and Sue Schoenfeld of Fort Smith; two sons, Ed and Ben Storey, both of Charleston; four sisters, Veda Case, Sue Warnock and Mary Mason, all of California, and Patsy Crawford of Charleston; a brother, Kin Woods of Paris; 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Doug, Shane and Seth Storey, Dee Kirby, David Hill and Jeff Garlanger.
Leo White
TAHLEQUAH, Okla. — Leo “Pete” White, 75, of Tahlequah died Monday, April 14, 2003, in Tulsa. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean Wars and a member of the Church of Christ.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Church of Christ in Summerfield with burial at Reichert cemetery in Heavener under the direction of Dowden Funeral Home of Heavener.
He is survived by his wife, Mazil; two daughters, Vickie Miller of Tahlequah and Debra Monholland of Park Hill, Okla.; a son, Anthony Senters of Tahlequah; three sisters, Dorothy Fry of Reichert, Okla., Lois Burton of Wister and Dora Thompson of Waldron; a brother, R.O. White of Reichert, Okla.; and seven grandchildren.
Thurza McChristian
BARLING — Thurza Virginia McChristian, 88, of Barling died Tuesday, April 15, 2003, in a Fort Smith nursing home. She was a homemaker and a member of Mansfield Methodist Church and the Eastern Star. She was the widow of James McChristian.
Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Liberty cemetery in Greenwood under the direction of Martin Funeral Home of Mansfield.
She is survived by a daughter, Ginger McCutchen of Fort Smith; two sons, J.C. McChristian of Fort Smith and Bill McChristian of Mena; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
The body may be viewed 5 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral ho me.

PARIS — Everett R. Barlow, 86, of Paris died Saturday, April 12, 2003, in Paris. He was a retired minnow farmer, an Air Force veteran of World War II and of the Baptist faith.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Roller Funeral Home Chapel in Paris with burial at Oakwood cemetery in Paris.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth; a daughter, Sandy York of Houston; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Leonard Rust
BOONEVILLE — Leonard Rufus Rust, 76, of Booneville died Tuesday, April 15, 2003, in the Grayson Community near Booneville. He was retired from the Army and a rancher.
Memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Roberts Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Booneville.
He is survived by his wife, Pauline; a daughter, Robbie Rust of Texas; two sons, Leonard Reid Rust of Greenbrier and Ray Rust of Dover; two sisters, Helen Lewis and Alice Clemmons, both of San Diego; a brother, Elmer Rust of Cisco, Texas; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Paul Scroggins
SALLISAW — Paul Stanley Scroggins, 56, of Sallisaw died Sunday, April 13, 2003, in Sallisaw. He was a retired petty officer in the Navy.
The body was cremated under the direction of Mallory Funeral Home of Sallisaw.
He is survived by his wife, Connie; three daughters, Kim Smith of Vian, Julie Birkenfeld of Amarillo, Texas and Amy Madrigal of Moore, Okla.; a son, Mike Scroggins of Roland; his mother, Verna Scroggins; two sisters, Joyce Greene of Las Cruces, N.M., and Rose Seals of Andrews, Texas; three brothers, Jim Scroggins of Border, Texas, Kenneth Scroggins of Enid, Okla., and Ronnie Scroggins of Fritch, Texas; and six grandchildren.

Julia McMinn
SALLISAW — Julie Glass McMinn, 81, of Sallisaw died Tuesday, April 15, 2003, in Sallisaw. She was a member of Badger Lee Baptist Church and the widow of Arnold McMinn.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Mallory Funeral Home Chapel in Sallisaw with burial at Marble City cemetery.
She is survived by a son, James McMinn of Sallisaw; eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Sonny Steeley, Brandon and Erik Caughman, Randon and Ryan Lowe and Jacob Byers.
Wesley Ramsey
PRAIRIE GROVE — Wesley Lee Ramsey, 88, of Prairie Grove died Saturday, April 19, 2003, in his home. He was born April 17, 1915, near the Illinois Chapel community. He was a member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Most of his life was spent in the northwest Arkansas area. He spent a brief time in California and Oklahoma. As a young man he farmed in the Illinois Chapel community before going into business for himself. He owned and operated Ramsey’s Garage and was a mechanic for more than 50 years. He also worked pipeline construction in the continental U.S. and Alaska. He had his own band, the Rhythm Wranglers, and a weekly radio program. Upon retirement he continued to provide entertainment for various groups and senior centers.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at the Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel in Prairie Grove with burial at Illinois Chapel cemetery near Prairie Grove.
He is survived by his wife, Lorraine; two daughters, Shirley Ross of Fort Smith and Sharon McCarver of Rogers; a sister, Opha Terpening of Cimmaron, N.M.; six grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Mark and Russell Cate, James Miller, Bill Morrison, Chuck Johnson and Marcy Kaiser.

MENA — David Stepp, 73, of Mena died Saturday, April 19, 2003, in Mena. He was born Feb. 25, 1930, in Sara Gorta, Okla. He was a mill worker and a member of the Church of Christ.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Beasley-Wood Funeral Home Chapel in Mena with burial at Chapel Hill cemetery in DeQueen.
He is survived by his wife, Inez; two sons, Glen Stepp of Mena and Gary Stepp of Broken Bow, Okla.; a sister, Lounell Stepp; a brother, Wayne Stepp; seven stepchildren, seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
Ruby Thompson
HOWE — Ruby Velma Thompson, 79, of Howe died Friday, April 18, 2003, in Poteau. She was born Jan. 11, 1924, in Poteau. She was a homemaker.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at Ellis Chapel Church in Wister with burial at Ellis Chapel cemetery under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.
She is survived by three daughters, Irene Mabry of Tulsa and Betty and Brenda Thompson, both of Howe; five sons, J.T. Thompson of Tulsa, Junior Thompson of Poteau, J.C. Thompson of Claremore, Okla., J.W. Thompson of Pocola and Joe Barnes of Wilburton, Okla.; 15 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

LAMAR — James A. Adams, 68, of Lamar died Friday, Aprl 18, 2003, in an area hospital. He was an Army veteran, a Protestant, a truck driver and a superintendent for Singer and Precision Pallet Co.
Funeral will be 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Roller-Cox Funeral Home Chapel in Clarksville with burial at Minnow Creek cemetery in Lamar.
He is survived by his wife, Jackie.
Pallbearers will be George Palmer, Odell Kimes, James Paxton, Troy Taylor, Bob Frost and Mike Buckner.

CLARKSVILLE — Mack Yates, 88, of Clarksville died Saturday, April 19, 2003, in a Clarksville nursing home. He was a retired brick plant worker and of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by his wife, Edith; four daughters, Glenda Zeiler of Clarksville, Marcella Langley of Piggot, Wanda Roberts of Arlington, Texas, and Lavella Hale of Russellville; a brother, Herla Yates of Ozark; 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Thelma Rolsten
VIAN — Thelma Baker Rolsten, 85, of Vian died Tuesday, April 15, 2003, in Muskogee, Okla. She was a retired educator with 28 years of service. She spent most of her career as a librarian at Riley Elementary School in Tulsa. She was a graduate of Tulsa Central School and obtained a bachelor’s degree from Tulsa University. She was a membr of St. Joseph Chatholic Church in Cookson, Okla., and the widow of Robert Lee Baker and Robert M. Rolsten.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with burial at Rose Hill cemetery in Tulsa under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Sallisaw.
She is survived by a daughter, Mary Linda Baker of the home; a son, Don Lee Baker of Tulsa; and a grandson, Joseph Harrison Baker.
The body may be viewed from 1 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Bessie Bryant
NORTH LITTLE ROCK — Bessie Otis Bryant, 94, of North Little Rock died Friday, April 18, 2003. She was born March 25, 1909, in Coal Hill. She was a retired school cafeteria employee, a member of Fuller Chapel Primitive Baptist Church and the widow of Ennis Bryant.
Funeral will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home Chapel in Conway with burial at Crestlawn.
She is survived by a daughter, Peggy Tolliver of North Little Rock; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

POTEAU — John Nebraski, 80, of Poteau died Saturday, April 19, 2003, in Poteau. He was born Sept. 29, 1922, in western Pennsylvania. He was a supervisor for Close Bend Manufacturing Co., an Army veteran of World War II, a member of the First Christian Church in Poteau, a member of the Moose Lodge and a Boy Scout. He was a scout master for several years and was involved with both the Cub Scouts and the Boy Scouts of America.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at the First Christian Church in Poteau with burial at Oakland cemetery in Poteau under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.
He is survived by his wife, Faye; two sons, Kenneth Nebraski of Havlock, N.C., and Harold Nebraski of Poteau; three sisters, Millie Schepski of Union Town, Pa., Loretta Cramer of Greensburg, Pa., and Donna Rogers of Dunbar, Pa.; a brother, Dave Nebraski of Union Town, Pa.; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
