Lillie Lee, 96, of Fort Smith died Wednesday, April 16, 2003, in Fort Smith. She was the former owner operator of Lee’s Glove Cleaning and the 22 Cafe. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, the Order of Eastern Star, where she once served as Worthy Grand Matron, the Order to Amaranth and the Woodmen of the World Ladies Circle.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. today at First United Methodist Church Roebuck Chapel with burial at Barling City cemetery under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
She is survived by four daughters, Grace Harvey and Rosemary Chamberlain, both of Fort Smith, Betty Owens of Fairfield Bay and Wynona Rowley of Little Rock; two sons, Jack Lee of Fort Smith and Ray Lee of Pleasant Hill, Calif.; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Gary Reynolds, Heath Chamberlain, Lee Carter, Phillip Young, Jerry Carter and Sid Rowley.

Cynthia Duer
POCOLA — Cynthia G. Duer, 44, of Pocola died Monday, April 14, 2003, in Waldo. She was the vice president manager of Pro-Comm, a division of Beshears Professional Communications of Arkansas, was active with the March of Dimes, Gregory Kisler Center, Special Olympics and was a former member of Old Fort Dandies.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at First Baptist Church in Fort Smith with burial at Oak cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
She is survived by her husband, Gary; two daughters, Crystal Duer of Van Buren and Michelle Duer of Fayetteville; her father, Billy Baird of Loveland, Colo.; a sister, Angela Plank of Pocola; two brothers, Billy Baird of Fayetteville and Edward Baird of Denver.
Pallbearers will be Brandon and Dan Beshears, Phillip Lee, Bill Links, Chad Jones and Richard Robins.
Garland Wells
Garland C. Wells, 83, of Fort Smith died Friday, April 18, 2003, in a local hospital. He was born May 1, 1919, in Peter Pender. He was a retired employee of Dixie Cup after 33 years of service, a member of St. Paul United Methodist church, the Builders Sunday school class, past board member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, the R.S.V.P., one of the founders of St. Paul United Methodist Church, Habitat for Humanity, volunteer carpenter at St. Paul United Methodist Church, was an Army and Air Force veteran. He was the widower of Betty Wells.
Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Paul United Methodist Church with a private committal at Roselawn cemetery under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Fort Smith.
He is survived by two sons, Karl and Ron Wells, both of Fort Smith; two sisters, Irene Stevens and Margaret Chastain, both of Fort Smith; a brother, Robert Wells of Fort Smith; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Buster Moore, Wally Gattis, Jerry Chastain, Robby Tran, Wesley Truex and Mike Pettigrew.
The body may be viewed 8 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

KINTA — Marie Hubbard, 81, of Kinta died Thursday, April 17, 2003, in Muskogee, Okla. She was a homemaker and the widow of Everett Hubbard.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at First Baptist Church in Kinta with burial at Sans Bois cemetery in Kinta under the direction of Mallory Funeral Home of Stigler.
She is survived by two daughters, Betty Sissel of Tulsa and Gwenda Stephens of Edmond, Okla.; a son, Jerry Hubbard of Kinta; a brother, H.W. Mathews of Tulsa; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Bill Mathews, Kenneth Dunlap, James and Gene Ford, Gary Spears and Boyd King.

SALLISAW — Willie Burkett, 67, of Sallisaw died Wednesday, April 16, 2003, in Tulsa.
Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. today at Mount McCurey cemetery in Rudy under the direction of Mallory Funeral Home of Sallisaw.
He is survived by two daughters, Kathy Norton of Waco, Texas and Ann Burkett; a son, Keith Burkett of Hearst, Texas; five sisters, Irene Walker of Plain View, Texas, Clara Dodson of Van Buren, Billie Hill of Garland, Texas, Pamela Goforth of Chicago and Vicki Been of Richardson, Texas; three brothers, Clarence Burkett of Missouri, Charles and David Burkett, both of Van Buren; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

HEAVENER — Gleason “George” S. Gossett, 73, of Heavener died Thursday, April 17, 2003, in Tulsa. He was a retired brakeman-conductor for the Kansas City Railroad.

MULDROW — Kenneth Richard Porter, 58, of Muldrow died Friday, April 18, 2003, in a local hospital. He was a Navy veteran and an employee of Whirlpool.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Ocker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Oliver Springs cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Janie; three daughters, Kathy Oestriech of Lakewood, Colo., Tina Noriega of El Dorado, Kan., and Rosana Patton of St. Albans, W.Va.; five sisters, Christine Rines, Thelma Blanco, Hazel Honeycutt, Margaret Crowley and Ruth Gorny, all of Seattle; two brothers, Wilbur and Jim, both of Seattle; and seven grandchildren.
The family will visit with friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Judy Blair
KETCHUM, Okla. — Judy Peterson Blair, 77, of Ketchum, Okla., formerly of Waldron, died Thursday, April 17, 2003, in Grove, Okla. She was a retired bookkeeper and a member of Ketchum Church of Christ.
Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Duncan cemetery in Waldron under the direction of Martin Funeral Home of Waldron.
She is survived by her husband, Delbert; a daughter, Deborah Sullivan of Bixby, Okla.; two sisters, Jean Austin and Mary Pryor, both of Ketchum; and one grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Duane, Grant and Mark Sullivan, Mike Austin, Steve and Scott Pryor.

Elise Bedwell Ross
Elise Bedwell Ross, 45, of Fort Smith passed away Friday, April 18, 2003, in St. Edwards Hospital. She was born July 13, 1957, in Fort Smith. She attended Southside High School and the University of Arkansas, where she received a master’s in guidance counseling. Elise spent her life as an advocate of children’s education from her work as a teacher in Little Rock to counseling at Orr and Euper Lane schools in Fort Smith and service in the Euper Lane PTA. Presently, she was employed as director of Hobson Preschool of the First Presbyterian Church, having previously served on the school’s board. A member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority, Elise was active in the local alumni club. She was also a member of the Junior League of Little Rock and PEO, Chapter BD in Fort Smith. Elise loved her home, reading, traveling and outdoor activities with her family and friends.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at First Presbyterian Church under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith. The family will receive friends at the church following the service.
She is survived by a son, Robert T. Ross Jr. of the home; her parents, Edward and Eloise Bedwell; a sister, Ann Haggard and a brother, Ed Bedwell, all of Fort Smith; a sister, Barbara Noland of Fayetteville; one niece and three nephews and many good friends.

Leeota Elizabeth McCormack Wingfield
Leeota Elizabeth McCormack Wingfield, 85, of Magazine, formerly of Stilwell, Okla., died Thursday, April 17, 2003, in Magazine. She was the former owner of a grocery store and a gift shop in Stilwell and a member of First Baptist Church in Stilwell. She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Alvin Pete Wingfield.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. today at Stilwell City cemetery under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home of Booneville.
She is survived by a niece, Bess Ann Wingfield Cauthon of Magazine; a great-niece Becky Ann Bolling of Atlanta; a great-nephew, J.W. Cauthon and his wife, Kim of Magazine; and a great-great-niece, Jamie Cauthon.

Dr. Warren Swift, 82, of Fort Smith died Friday, April 25, 2003, in Fort Smith. He was a retired veterinary medical officer for the Department of Agriculture Veterinarian Services for 30 years, a member of First Presbyterian Church and an Army veteran of World War II.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. today at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Betty; two daughters, Sherilyn Walton and Sandy Linimon, both of Fort Smith; a sister, Gay Dalton of Fayetteville; a brother, Bill Swift of Cherokee, Ala.; and four grandchildren.

Ernest Daniel Burgess, 86, of Van Buren died Friday, April 25, 2003, in Van Buren. He was a retired mechanic for Ryder Truck Rentals, an Army veteran of World War II and a member of North Park Baptist Church. He was the widower of Laura “Bess” Burgess.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home in Van Buren with burial at Gracelawn cemetery in Van Buren.
He is survived by two sons, Tommy and Johnny Burgess, both of Van Buren; four sisters, Robbie Toothaker of Van Buren, Peggy Baber of Bella Vista, Roxie Moore of Poteau and Geneva Daugherty of Tulare, Calif.; a brother, Joe Burgess of Fort Smith; six grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Thelma Livingston Rolston, 87, of Van Buren died Saturday, April 26, 2003, in a Van Buren nursing home. She was a retired nurse’s aid and a former resident of Alma.

Gertrude Dixon, 96, of Fort Smith died Saturday, April 26, 2003, in Fort Smith. She was a member of Van Buren Church of Christ and a homemaker.

Melvin Senior
SMITHVILLE, Okla. — Melvin Senior, 77, of Smithville, Okla., died Saturday, April 26, 2003, in Fort Smith. He was born July 22, 1925, in New Albany, Ind. He was an Army veteran of the 
Korean War, a former truck driver for the city of Columbus, Ohio, and a member of the Public Employees Retirement System of Columbus.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Little River Church of Christ in Ludlow, Okla., with burial at Ludlow cemetery under the direction of Beasley-Wood Funeral Home of Mena.
He is survived by his wife, Rose; two brothers, Earl Senior of Louisville, Ky., and Carl Senior of Sellarsburg, Ind.; and a sister, Alice Eckert of Floyd Knobs, Ind.
