Loretta Ann Seibold
Loretta Ann Seibold, 78, of Barling entered into rest Friday, Feb. 28, 2003, in Fort Smith. She was born Oct. 10, 1924, in Morrison’s Bluff, the first child of the late Henry and Frances (Seiter) Weisenfels. Loretta married
Herman Josepg Siebold Jr. of Massard on June 6, 1949. The couple was married
for 51 years, until Herman’s death on Jan. 3, 2001.
They had seven children, Danny, Mike and Jerry, all of Barling, Tony and his wife Shelly of Fort Smith, Patty and Helen Siebold, both of Fort Smith, and Linda Starr and her husband Marvin of Greenland; and two grandchildren, Lori and Anna Starr of Greenland. Siblings include one sister, Cecelia Alatore, and three brothers, Andy Weisenfels and his wife Mary and Al Weisenfels and his wife Lula, all of Fort Smith, and Ed Weisenfels and his wife Rosemary of Greenwood. Loretta is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Mary Rich and Dorothy Jones, both of Barling, five nephews and 11 nieces.
Loretta was a member of Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Barling, the Mother’s Society, the Catholic Women’s Union and the St. Anne’s Sodality. She was a devoted wife and mother and held her faith and family in high regard. She was a retired cook and housekeeper. Her hobbies included quilting, needlework and cooking. Loretta’s loving, sweet nature was a blessing to all who knew her.
Services will be officiated by the Rev. Henry Mischkowiuski at Sacred Heart of Mary Church, with a Rosary service at 7 p.m. today and a funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be at St. Mary’s cemetery in Fort Chaffee under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Fort Smith.
Pallbearers will include Jack Madden, Tim Weisenfels, Doug Lensing, James Strobel, Paul Rivaldo and Steve Core.
Honorary pallbearers will include Betty Becker, Larry and Agnes Elser, Theresa and Jack Haaser, Lynn Meeks, Edwina Schwarz, Helen and David Sharum, Ed and Rose Smetanka, Penny Smith, Dick and Peggy Spears, Von Strobel and Loretta Weindel.

Opal Scherff
RUSSELLVILLE — Opal Maxine Scherff, 77, of Russellville died Monday, March 17, 2003, in her home. She was born Dec. 16, 1925, in Luna, Mo. She was a graduate of Imperial Nebraska High School, attended University of Nebraska and was a Catholic.
The body was cremated under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home of Clarksville.
She is survived by her husband, Hubert; two daughters, Marsha Winters of The Colony, Texas, and Jill Keller of Russellville; six sons, Randy Scherff of Fayetteville, Robert Scherff of Russellville, Chris, Michael and Jeffrey Scherff, all of Fort Smith, and Greg Scherff of Pine Bluff; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Mary Boyd
CAULKSVILLE — Mary Virginia “Punkin” Boyd, 76, of Caulksville died Tuesday, March 18, 2003, in her home. She was born Aug. 24, 1926, in Cravens. She was the owner and operator of Boyd’s Beauty Shop in Caulksville and a member of Caulksville Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Caulksville Cumberland Presbyterian Church with burial at Caulksville cemetery under the direction of Smith Mortuary of Charleston.
She is survived by her husband, J.T.; a daughter, JoAnn Stiles of Strang, Okla.; two sisters, Wanda Brown of Harrisonville, Mo., and Christine Conner of Lavaca; a brother, A.C. Alston of Torrance, Calif.; four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Jack and Todd Hewett, Bill Culver, Ryan Casalman, Jake Boyd and Bud Turk.
Madison Stallings
NORTH LITTLE ROCK — Madison Genice Stallings, infant daughter of Shemeka Travis and Grady Stallings, of North Little Rock died Saturday, March 15, 2003.
Graveside service was held Wednesday at Riverwood Memorial Garden in Maumelle under the direction of Premier Funeral Home of Little Rock.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her great-grandparent, Bessie Travis.
Tammy Bearden
Tammy Rae Bearden, 40, of Fort Smith died Monday, March 17, 2003, in a Fort Smith hospital. She was born Dec. 18, 1962, in Rockford, Ill.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. today at cemetery Ridge cemetery in Ozark under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home of Ozark.
She is survived by her husband, Rob Stewart; a daughter, Taya Sermons of the home; a son, Devin Stewart of the home; her mother and stepfather, Alice Gary Delargy of Hardy; a sister, Raylene Bearden of Fort Smith; and a brother, Randy Bearden of Fort Smith.
Eva Norried
STIGLER — Eva A. Norried, 79, of Stigler died Monday, March 17, 2003, in a Fort Smith hospital. She was a retired assembly line worker.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday at Martin Funeral Home Chapel in Mansfield with burial at Norried cemetery near Mansfield.
She is survived by her husband, Robert; a daughter, Phyllis Toussaint; a son. Les Norried; three sisters, Ruth Jackson, Opal Blackard and Lucille Duncan; a brother John Wade; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Aiden Brewer
HUNTINGTON — Aiden William Brewer, infant son of Jennifer Kizziar of Huntington and Jonathan Brewer of Mansfield, died Tuesday, March 18, 2003, in a Little Rock hospital.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Gill cemetery in Van Buren under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by paternal grandparents, Dennis Brewer of Little Rock and Tina Rye of Mountainburg; maternal grandparents, Glenn and Sharanna Kizziar of Kibler and Gwen Kizziar of Huntington; paternal great-grandparents, Viola Brewer of Mansfield and Jerry Proctor of California; maternal great-grandparents, David Overton and Helen Kizziar of Russellville and Geneva Crowley of Mulberry.

FORT GIBSON, Okla. — Dennis Radebaugh, 51, of Fort Gibson, Okla. died Tuesday, March 18, 2003, in Muskogee.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. today at Iron Bridge cemetery in Keota under the direction of Mallory Funeral Home of Stigler.
He is survived by a daughter, Vickie Terronez of Fort Gibson, Okla.; his mother, Rudean Radebaugh of Fort Gibson, Okla.; a sister, Shelly Harmon of Fort Gibson, Okla.; two brothers, Michael and Bryan Radebaugh, both of Fort Gibson, Okla.; and three grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Ricky, Bobby, Jerry, Carlos and Shirley Short.
Carol Jarboe
GREENWOOD — Carol Sue Jarboe, 64, of Greenwood died Tuesday, March 18, 2003, in her home. She was a homemaker and a member of Revis Hill Assembly of God.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. today at Putman Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at Pope cemetery in Mountainburg.
She is survived by her husband, Don; two stepdaughters, Susan Cathey of Van Buren and Leigh Andrews of St. Joseph, Mo.; two stepsons, Stephen Kruskopp of Norman, Okla., and Karl Kruskopp of Van Buren; three sisters, Louise Adams of Alma, Lola Carter of Mesa, Ariz., and Nina Kiser of Central City; a brother, Harold Barker of Mulberry; and nine grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Anthony, Bryant and Steven Kruskopp, Median Pena, Jacob and Jeremiah Cronin and Branson Cathey.
Betty Tackett
BOKOSHE — Betty S. Tackett, 67, of Bokoshe died Wednesday, March 19, 2003, in Fort Smith. She was born Feb. 24, 1936, in Rosedale, Okla. She was a hair dresser and a florist. She was the widow of Wayne Tackett.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Assembly of God in Bokoshe with burial at Old Bokoshe cemetery under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.
She is survived by three daughters, Vickie Hettinger, Shirley Swindle and Carolyn Rees, all of Bokoshe; five sisters, Wrenetta Kroth, Jean McFarland and Freda Puhrmann, all of Bokoshe, Faye Haslip of Oklahoma City and Ann Stroud of Parkville, Mo.; five brothers, C.P., Luke and Jerry Lovell, all of Bokoshe, Charlie Lovell of Broken Arrow, Okla., and Willie Lovell of McCurtain; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Jason, Jerry and James Lovell, Micky Haslip, Terry Stroud and Tim Kroth.
Meredith Smith
ROLAND — Meredith Austin Smith, 66, of Roland died Tuesday, March 18, 2003, in Fort Smith. He was a newspaper distributor for the Arizona Daily Star.
No services will be held. Arrangements are under the direction of Fentress Mortuary of Fort Smith.
He has no known survivors.
Walter Looper
CLARKSVILLE — Walter L. Looper, 69, of Clarksville died Tuesday, March 18, 2003, in his home. He was born May 11, 1933, in Ludwig. He attended Clarksville schools, was a cattleman, a Methodist, a member of Arkansas Cattleman Association and the Texas County Feeders Association. He was an Army veteran, an AAU and Golden Glove Boxing Champion and was Johnson County sheriff from 1967 to 1972.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday at Hardwicke Funeral Home Chapel in Clarksville with burial at Shady Grove cemetery in Clarksville.
He is survived by his wife, Cecelia; three sons, Terry Looper of Van Buren and Christopher and Gary Looper, both of Clarksville; a brother, Jack Looper of Memphis, Tenn.; and seven grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Claud and Don Dougan, Larry Griffin, Varnel Nelson, John Blackburn, Ben Hardgrave, Carl Krishberger and Lee Buckner.
Autry McCafferty
POTEAU — Autry McCafferty, 94, of Poteau died Wednesday, March 19, 2003, in a local nursing home. He was an Army veteran of World War II, was retired from Riding Cadillac dealership in Long Beach, Calif., and a member of Hartford First Baptist Church. He was the widower of Hazel McCafferty.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Hartford First Baptist Church with burial at Hartford Memorial Park under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Hartford.
He is survived by six sisters, Stella Harger of Fort Smith, Raye Spradling of Barling, Sue Preston of Van Buren, Velma Brewer of Hartford, Dortha Gober of Poteau and Mary Oliver of Bentonville; a brother, R.C. McCafferty of Bella Vista.
The body may be viewed 1 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, where the family will visit with friends from 5 to 7 p.m.
Charles Fortner
MULDROW — Charles “Chuck” Fortner, 69, of Muldrow died Tuesday, March 18, 2003, in Fort Smith. He was born May 16, 1933, in Cassville, Mo. He was a veteran of the 
Korean War, was a Robert S. Kerr Lock and Dam No. 15 operator for 24 years, a former member of board of directors for Rural Water District No. 3 in Sallisaw, a Central High School board member, former Jaycee in Sallisaw, a little league coach and attended First Assembly of God in Muldrow.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Friday at First Assembly of God in Muldrow with burial at Woodlawn Memorial Park cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Agent Funeral Home in Muldrow.
He is survived by his wife, Becky; a daughter, Cheryl McCabe of Sallisaw; a son, Joel Fortner of Glenpool, Okla.; a sister, Sue Wallace of Sunnyvale, Calif.; and two grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Joel Fortner, Michael McCabe, Chris and Mike Carter, Jerry Spessard and Tony Ritchie.
The body may be viewed 3 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will visit with friends from 7 to 8 p.m.
Alverna Knox Harris
Alverna Knox Harris was born Alverna Knox to Phillip and Emma Knox on Oct. 10, 1914, in Fort Smith. She was the second of five children born to this union. She had one brother, Phillip, and three sisters, Fannie Mae, Lula Mae and Leola. Her parents and all her siblings have all predeceased her. Alverna Knox attended early elementary school in Fort Smith. She lost her hearing at the age of seven. After she lost her hearing in an accident, she enrolled in the Arkansas School for the Deaf.
After graduating from the high school she worked at the school for the deaf in Little Rock, and while working there she was introduced to Battiest Harris. Mr. Harris was traveling with the Negro League’s Tulsa Black Oilers.
She was united in marriage to Battiest Harris Nov. 25, 1937, in Little Rock. The moved to Mr. Harris’s hometown, Lewisville, Okla., and to this union seven children were born. After the death of their fourth child, Fannie Mae (Virginia), they moved to Tulsa in 1944.
Mrs. Harris became dedicated as a Jehovah’s Witness in 1947. She remained a dutiful and faithful servant of Jehovah, regularly attending the Kingdom Hall until her health no longer permitted.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Battiest and two children, Isaac and Fannie Mae (Virginia). She leaves to mourn and cherish her memories. Phillip Harris of Denver, Emma Jean King of Tulsa, Shirley Ann Harris of Inglewood, Calif., Jonathan David Harris of Tulsa, Cheryl Harris of Oklahoma City, and two daughters-in-law, Bernett Harris of Denver and Vanessa Harris of Tulsa; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She also leaves a host of cousins, friends and other relatives.
Services were held March 8, 2003, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness with Bro. McKinley James officiating under the direction of “The New” Dyer Memorial Chapel in Tulsa.
Maria Langford
Maria Lavon Langford, 45, of Fort Smith died Monday, April 28, 2003, in a local hospital. She was born May 29, 1957, in Fort Smith. She was a former employee of Klein Tools for 14 years and a member of Dora Pentecostal Church of God.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at Forest Park cemetery in Fort Smith.
She is survived by her husband, Larry; a daughter, Carrie Akins of Fort Smith; a son, Larry Langford Jr. of Fort Smith; her mother, Fern Brown of Fort Smith; five sisters, Sheila Bishop, Ramona Brown, Pamela Raache and Teresa Zeiler, all of Fort Smith and Paula Baldwin of Banning, Calif.; a brother, Carey Baldwin of Little Rock; maternal grandmother, Gace Moore of Van Buren; and one grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Brandy Campbell, Allen White, Richard Moore, Steven Gilbreath, Jimmy Wroten and Harley Sorrells.
The family will receive friends at 1404 South 17th in Fort Smith.
