ADA, Okla. - Amber Vangundy, 23, of Ada, Okla., died Saturday, July 5, 2003, in her home. She was born Dec. 17, 1979, in Fort Smith. She graduated from Byng High School in 1998, attended East Central University and was a Baptist. Funeral was held Wednesday at Trinity Baptist Church with burial at Memorial Park cemetery under the direction of Criswell Funeral Home of Ada, Okla. She is survived by a daughter, Saylor Smith of the home; her mother, Dianne Vangundy of Ada; her father, David and Jeanette Vangundy of Ada; a sister, Kelcey Vangundy of Ada; her grandparents, Patrick and Arlene Giulioli of Okmulgee, Okla., Hilda Druckamiller of Corsicana, Texas, Jeff Vangundy Sr. and Ann Vangundy of Lavaca; and a great-grandmother, Katherine Giulioli of Okmulgee, Okla. SPIRO - Robert Lee Holbrook, 75, of Spiro died Thursday, July 10, 2003, in Fort Smith. He was an Air Force veteran of World War II and the 
Korean War and retired from the City of Spiro. Memorial service will be 4 p.m. Saturday at Spiro City cemetery under the direction of Mallory Funeral Home of Spiro. He is survived by his wife, Faye; a daughter, Tina Sanders of Fort Smith; four sons, Troy, Robert, Alan and Charles Holbrook, all of Spiro; three stepdaughters, Esther Matlock of Keota, Juanita Berry and Melissa Wideman, both of Spiro; a sister, Linda Worley of Springfield, Mo.; a brother, Roy Holbrook of Springfield, Mo.; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. CHARLESTON - Sid Grubbs, 73, of Charleston died Thursday, July 10, 2003, in his home. He was born June 14, 1930, in Archer City, Texas. He was a retired coal miner for Garland Coal Co. and a cattle rancher. Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Smith Mortuary Chapel in Charleston with burial at Garden of Memories cemetery in Charleston. He is survived by his wife, Lou; a daughter, Pamela Toney of Charleston; three stepdaughters, Lou Thompson of Charleston, Darlina Reiss of Tulsa and Debra McNeill of Ohio; a stepson, James Corley of Charleston; two sisters, Ella Courtney of El Reno, Okla., and Geneva Davis of Faxon, Okla.; two grandchildren; 16 stepgrandchildren; and six stepgreat-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Manuel and John Johnson, Raymond Mantooth, Roger and Mike Dunn and Jack Soller. Honorary pallbearers will be former co-workers of Garland Coal Co. SMITHVILLE, Okla. - Francis Trevor 'Frank' Blackwood, 81, of Smithville, Okla., died Friday, July 4, 2003, in his home. He was born Oct. 19, 1921, in Belfast, Ireland. He was an Army veteran of World War II, a carpenter, a member of American Legion, the Disabled American Veterans and the Carpenters' District Council Local No. 708, and of the Methodist faith. He was the widower of Betty Blackwood. The body was sent for cremation under the direction of Beasley-Wood Funeral Home of Mena. A memorial graveside service will be 10 a.m. today at Bay Pines National cemetery in Bay Pines, Fla. He is survived by a daughter, Linda Murphy of Deer; a son, Jim Blackwood of Smithville, Okla.; two brothers, Billy Blackwood of Port Jefferson, N.Y., and Norman Blackwood of Monrovia, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

POTEAU — Johnny Allan Easley, 43, of Poteau died Saturday, March 22, 2003, in Tulsa. He was born Jan. 8, 1960, in McAlester, Okla. He attended school in Poteau and was a brick layer and a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Poteau.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Evans & Miller Funeral Home Chapel of Memories in Poteau with burial at Wister City cemetery.
He is survived by his parents, John and Norma Easley of Poteau; two sisters, Kelly Callahan of Howe and Patricia Morris of Poteau; three brothers, David and Jason Easley, both of Shady Point, and Stacy Easley of Poteau; and his maternal grandmother, Evelyn Kelton of McAlester.
Pallbearers will be Monroe, Lester and Everett Seagraves, Donnie Potter and Billy and David Cook.

PINE RIDGE — Carl Ryan, 73, of Pine Ridge died Saturday, March 22, 2003. He was born in Opal. He was a carpenter and a member of the Jehovah Witness Church. He was the widower of Anna Ryan.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Union Mission Pentecostal Church of God multipurpose building with burial at Lower Big Fork cemetery under the direction of Beasley-Wood Funeral Home of Mena.
He is survived by a daughter, Annette Egger of Mena; eight sons, James, Ronald and Tony Ryan, all of Mena, Vernon and Victor Ryan, both of Oden, Jackie Ryan of Opal, Ladell Ryan of Cherry Hill and Michael Ryan of Pine Ridge; 22 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

ALMA — Elizabeth Marie “Liz” Nolze, 61, of Alma died Saturday, March 22, 2003, in a local hospital. She was a homemaker and a Catholic.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Alma cemetery under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.
She is survived by her fiancee, Bill Johnson of the home; two daughters, Tammy Elmore of Westfork and Julie Smith of Spiro; a son, Edward Cravens of Wichita, Kan.; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas — Rodney J. Triplett, 77, of North Richland Hills, Texas, died Thursday, March 20, 2003. He was a member of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry SJ USA 32 in Fort Smith and a member of Belle Point 20 Free and accepted Mason Lodge 576 in Fort Smith.
Funeral will be 12:30 p.m. today at Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Chapel in Colleyville, Texas, with burial at Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park.
He is survived by his wife, Leona Triplett; two daughters, Linda Foster and Jennie Marie Wood; four sons, Randy, Jack and Weldon Triplett and Curtis Breland; 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

MULROW — Thomas Collins Jones Sr., 67, of Muldrow died Saturday, March 22, 2003, in his home. He was a minister, a truck driver, a Pentecostal and an Army veteran in peacetime.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Maple cemetery northeast of Sallisaw under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Sallisaw.
He is survived by his wife, Martha; two daughters, Nancy Jones and Barbara Osmon, both of Sallisaw; a stepdaughter, Acynthia Hall; four sons, Thomas Jones of Oakwood, Texas, Donald Jones of Kerr Lake, Okla., Jackie Jones of Muldrow and George Jones of Sallisaw; two stepsons, Floyd and James Orsburn; a sister, Vivian Honea of Muldrow; a brother, Euell Jones of Van Buren; 19 grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.

Floyd A. Young
Floyd A. Young, 68, of Arkoma died Thursday, March 20, 2003, in Rochester, Minn. He was retired from Whirlpool, where he was employed for 32 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Arkoma where he served as deacon for 38 years, a Sunday school teacher, a retired volunteer firefighter for the Arkoma Fire Department, a member of the Arkoma Booster Club, the Management Club at Whirlpool and an Army veteran.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. today at First Baptist Church in Arkoma with burial at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Fort Smith under the direction of Fentress Mortuary of Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Anna; four daughters, Joyce Ann Shackleford and her husband, Jeff Shackelford, of Arkoma, Dr. Tamatha Holt and her husband, Robert Holt, of Poteau and JoAnn Batt, and her husband, Shawn Batt of Arkoma, and Melissa Young of Muldrow; a son, Larry Young of Fort Smith; his mother, Trella Young of Seymour, Iowa; his mother-in-law, Arizona Jameson of Arkoma; a brother, Bernard Young and his wife Karen Young of Seymour; three sisters-in-law, Jewell Duhon and her husband, Billy Duhon, of Sulphur, La., Mary Schuster and her husband, Bill Schuster, of Fort Smith, Lanelle Stiles and her husband, Gene Stiles, of Fort Smith; five grandchildren, Bryce and Kyle Holt of Poteau, Jameson Shackelford of Arkoma and Skylar and Nakiyah Batt of Arkoma; and several nieces and nephews.

Edgar E. Bethell
Edgar E. Bethell, 85, of Fort Smith died Sunday, March 23, 2003, in Fort Smith. He was a retired attorney after practicing for 50 years, a member of the First United Methodist Church, an Army veteran and a 33rd degree Mason.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Family Life Center of the First United Methodist Church under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith. Private burial will be at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Fort Smith prior to the service.
He is survived by his wife, Rose; two daughters, Barbara Hill of Fort Smith and Delia Bethell and husband Gene Gandy of Sacramento, Calif.; a son, Bruce Bethell and wife Suzanne of Fort Smith; two grandchildren, Leslie Bethell and Amanda Lawrence; and a great-grandchild, Eleanora Lawrence.

Kathleen Ward Smedley
Kathleen Ward Smedley left here for heaven in the wee hours of the morning on Saturday, March 22, 2003. We were a bit surprised when she left, but we knew she had made her plans and her reservations years ago. We know her accomodations were first class, and the trip would be fast and sweet.
Each of us, her children, were taught from our earliest remembrances to make our plans for that journey. We stand secure in our readiness — we only await our times to leave!
God our Father loves us and made our pardon possible by asking his son, Jesus Christ, to make the ultimate sacrifice to save us from the penalty of Sin (The wages of sin is death, but God’s gift is eternal life). And by the way, the Bible Says “All have sinned.”
Kathleen watched many in her family leave, her mother and father, Charlie and Cora Myers; her brothers, Oscar and Roy Myers; and her sister, Goldeen Myers Gooch, lead the way. Her children, Patricia Mills and Judge John Ward of North Little Rock, Kay Goodman of Lavaca and Lora Golebiewski of Armada, Mich., now rise up to call her blessed. The love of our lives we will miss her presence, but her precious memories will remain in our hearts forever.
Her services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday at Oak Cliff Baptist Church.

Floyd J. Black, 86, of Van Buren died Saturday, March 22, 2003, in his home. He was a retired farmer, a member of the Shibley Baptist Church and the widower of Bonnie Black.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Ocker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Gracelawn cemetery in Van Buren.
He is survived by two sons, Gary and his wife Lola Black of Van Buren and Larry and his wife Sharon Black of Van Buren; a sister, Dorothy Willmon of Van Buren; and four grandsons, Eddie, Jeff, Steven and Eric Black, all of Van Buren.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons and Jim and Chad Willmon.
