Harlan “Chick” Appleton
Harlan “Chick” Appleton, 56, of Yuma, Ariz., died Tuesday, March 18, 2003, in Yuma.
He was a retired house painter in his own business and a member of Day Trippers Motorcycle Club of Yuma, Ariz.
He was preceded in death by his father, Edgar Lee Appleton Sr., a brother, Edgar Lee Appleton Jr., and a granddaughter, Christine Rosemary Trinidad.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Elizabeth Hall cemetery in New Blaine under the direction of Roller Funeral Home in Paris.
He is survived by two daughters, Amy Jean Stockle of Grand Island, N.Y., and Janie Lee Mosely of Getzville, N.Y.; his mother, Sula Faye Appleton of Paris; a sister, Barbara Collins of Paris; a brother, Tom Appleton of Seattle; two granddaughters, Tajah Nicole Lawrence and Mallory Faye Mosley of Getzville, N.Y.; and two grandsons, Kyle Matthew Stockle of Grand Island, N.Y., and John Harlan Mosley of Getzville, N.Y.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Rickey Brown
LAVACA — Rickey Lee Brown, 47, of Lavaca died Saturday, May 24, 2003, in a local hospital. He was a self-employed painter and a member of the Charleston V.F.W.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday in Smith Mortuary Chapel in Charleston with burial at Parks cemetery in Charleston.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanne; a step-daughter, Tina Hughes of Modesto, Calif.; two step-sons, Mike Hughes of Modesto and Don Lepper of Monroe, Wis.; his parents, Jack and Loretha Brown of Lavaca; a sister, Patti Crosson of Modera, Calif.; a brother, Ken Brown of Fort Smith; and seven step-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Ken Brown Jr., William Souza, George Schrapoff, Chuck and Chris Middleton and Don Lepper.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Cora Hudlow
LEFLORE — Cora Ella Hudlow, 78, of LeFlore died Monday, May 26, 2003, in a local hospital. She was a homemaker and a member of the Pentecostal church.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church in LeFlore with burial at LeFlore cemetery under the direction of Evans and Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.
She is survived by two daughters, Margaret Hatfield of Quinton, Okla., and Linda Dillon of Pryor, Okla.; two sons, Billy Gene Ludlow of LeFlore and Charles Hudlow of McLeod, Okla.; three brothers, Floyd Hudlow of Hughes, Okla., James Hudlow of LeFlore and Willis Hudlow of Wilburton; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and 10 step-great-grandchildren.

Kathleen Campbell
Kathleen P. Campbell, 78, of Fort Smith died Monday, May 26, 2003, in Bentonville. She was a member of Park Hill Church of Christ and the Bella Vista Church of Christ in Bella Vista.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. today at the Bella Vista Church of Christ in Bentonville. A graveside service will be 3 p.m. today at Forest Park cemetery under the direction of Bella Vista Funeral Home and Crematory of Bella Vista.
She is survived by three daughters, Linda Rainwater of Watertown, N.Y., Charlotte Aldridge of Bella Vista and Vickie Davis of North Little Rock; a son, Jim Campbell of Broken Arrow, Okla.; a sister, Pauline Campbell of Fort Smith; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Assocation, P.O. Box 1653, Topeka, KS 66601-1653.

Thelma Montgomery
ROLAND — Thelma Marie Montgomery, 74, of Roland died Monday, May 26, 2003, in Fort Smith.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Mallory Funeral Home Chapel in Sallisaw with burial at Brent cemetery in Sallisaw.
She is survived by two daughters, Lori Jackson of Houston and Lorine Marie “Cookie” VanderLyke of Muldrow; a son, Earl Montgomery of Russia; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Martha Mitchell
CEDARVILLE — Martha Mitchell, 87, of Cedarville died Sunday, May 25, 2003, in Sallisaw. A homemaker, she was a member of the Grandview Assembly of God and an active member of the Cedarville Senior Citizens Center. She was the widow of Carl Mitchell.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday in Ocker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Gracelawn cemetery in Van Buren.
She is survived by a daughter, Darlene Edwards of Cedarville; five sons, Frederick Dickinson of MacAllen, Texas, Patrick and Steve Holthusen, both of Rudy, Richard Holthusen of Chester and Ed Holthusen of Fort Worth, Texas; a sister, Marie Endress of Okarche, Okla.; two brothers, Russell Luebking of Oklahoma City and Richard Luebking of Mangum, Okla.; 12 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Eric Smitherman, James Cooper, Patrick, Ricky and Paul Henry Holthusen, and Derek Godfrey.
The family will visit with friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Effie Cross
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Effie Wilkey Brown Cross, 101, of Murfreesboro, Tenn., formerly of Mountainburg, died Saturday, May 24, 2003, in Murfreesboro. She was a charter member of the Rogers Christian Church and attended Denison High School in Denison, Kan., where she also taught school in a one-room schoolhouse. She was the widow of Steven H. Brown and Vern Cross.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. today at Mountainburg Presbyterian Church with burial at Shawnee Center cemetery in Wakarusa, Kan., at a later time. Local arrangements were under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Alma.
She is survived by four daughters, Jean Brown Simmons of Mountainburg, Elaine Brown Glover of Murfreesboro, Lois Brown Shewski of Louden, Texas, and Fern Brown Bartruff of Las Vegas; 14 grandchildren; and 13 grandchildren.

Patric Huston
NEWNAN, Ga. — Patric Paul Huston, 77, of Newnan, Ga., formerly of Waldron, died Monday, May 26, 2003, in Newnan.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at McKoon Funeral Home Chapel in Newnan with burial at Oak Hill cemetery in Newnan.
He is survived by two sons, Michael Huston of Whitesburg, Ga., and David Hayes of Dallas, Ga.; and 10 grandchildren.

Theresa Willis
CLARKSVILLE — Theresa Jean Willis, 56, of Clarksville died Saturday, May 24, 2003, in a local hospital. She was born June 21, 1946, in Clarksville and was a member of St. John’s AME Methodist Church and Clarksville Church of Christ. She was an antique dealer and a home hospice nurse. She attended Clarksville schools.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church in Clarksville with burial at Oakland cemetery in Clarksville under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home of Clarksville.
She is survived by her husband, Thirl; two daughters, Theresa Ann Mitchell of The Colony, Texas, and Rosemary Willis of Dallas; two sons, Thirl Willis Jr. of Fort Smith and Glenn Willis of Clarksville; seven sisters, Nancy Timmons and Janie Bagsby, both of Clarksville, Margaret Ann May of McKinney, Texas, Alice Pratt and Ernestine Toran, both of Fort Smith, Beverly May of Georgia and Gladys Perkins of Lawton, Okla.; four brothers, Otis May of McKinney, Texas, Bobby Joe May of Houston, Texas, Sammie Lee May of Clarksville and Robert May Jr. of Little Rock; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Otis and Earl May, Don Willis, Ronald Mitchell, Albert Bagsby, Sam Scott, Floyd Chenault and Patrick Baker.

Wilbur Crawford
Wilbur Lacy Crawford, 77, of Van Buren died Tuesday, May 27, 2003, in a local nursing home. He was a member of the Van Buren First Baptist Church and a Navy veteran. He was a retired construction foreman and was the widower of Ruby Nell Crawford.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday in Ocker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Gill cemetery in Van Buren.
He is survived by a daughter, Sharon Sullivan of Van Buren; a son, Wilbur Crawford II of Vilonia; four sisters, Lenice Gordon Thompson, Levonna Kendrick, Wanda Sallee and Lorraine Osborne, all of Van Buren; two brothers, Darrell and Lawrence, both of Van Buren; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Gary, Jimmy Don, Jimmy, Wayne, Truman Jr., Mark, Greg and Josh Crawford.

April Jones
April Dawn Jones, 20, of Van Buren died Tuesday, May 27, 2003, in her home. She was a former employee of McDonald’s.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Mt. McCurry cemetery Arbor near Rudy under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
She is survived by a companion, Jennifer Reed of Kibler; her mother, Donna Ellison of Van Buren; her maternal grandparents, Bob and Woneda Jones of Rudy; her step-paternal grandparents, Sharon and Jerry Almond of Dyer; and a sister, Tiffany Blackwell of Van Buren.
Pallbearers will be Chris Jones, Ira Warlick, Brent Brown, Jimmy Blackwell, and Josh and John Nipp.

Mary A. Plunkett
Mary A. Plunkett, 83, of Fort Smith died peacefully in a local hospital Saturday, May 24, 2003, after a brief illness. She was a homemaker who devoted her life to her husband, Harold, her eight children, 20 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and her church.
She was a warm, loving person who had a deep faith in the Lord Jesus and The Virgin Mary. She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church for more than 53 years. For many years, Mary was a member of the church choir, the Condolence Committee, the Presentation Circle and head of the fishpond at the annual parish carnival.
Mary and Harold were married for 63 years. They were also members of several dance clubs, where they enjoyed dancing and fellowship with many friends.
Rosary was 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Christ the King Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. today at Christ the King Catholic Church with burial at Calvary cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Fentress Mortuary of Fort Smith.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Anna M. and Albert J. Potthast and her sister, Jo Ann Berkley.
She is survived by her husband, Harold Plunkett; three daughters, Mary and her husband, Matt Winston, of Columbia, Mo., Cathy and her husband, Richard Ellis, of Conway, and Marie and her husband, Dr. Greg Curry, of Shawnee, Kan.; five sons, Joe and his wife, Margie, of Plano, Texas, Gene Plunkett of Greensboro, N.C., Mike Plunkett of Fairfax, Va., Dr. Dan Plunkett of Tuscaloosa, Ala., and Pat Plunkett of Alexandria, Va.; and 21 grandchildren.
Her grandsons will be pallbearers.

Mary Jim McClellan Maxwell
Mary Jim McClellan Maxwell, 86, of Ozark died Monday, May 26, 2003, in an Ozark nursing home. She was born Oct. 2, 1917, in Ozark to James L. and Sarah Linda (Campbell) McClellan. She was a homemaker, a member of Enon Primitive Baptist Church in Ozark, and was special friends with Dr. Jackie and Alice Gibbons and daughter-in-love, Terry Cannon. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Leon Maxwell.
A graveside memorial service will be 10 a.m. Friday at Highland cemetery. The body was cremated under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home of Ozark. Officiants will be James Isaacs, Jeremy Maxwell and Jimmy Maxwell.
She is survived by two sons, Johnny Maxwell and his wife, Carol, of Ozone and Jimmy Maxwell of North Little Rock; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Flora Billings
POTEAU — Flora May Billings, 92, of Poteau died Monday, May 26, 2003, in an area hospital. She was born March 8, 1911 in Love County, Okla., and was a farmer and rancher. She was the widow of Richard Billings.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Summerfield Church of Christ of Summerfield with burial at Summerfield cemetery under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.
She is survived by one daughter, Linda Cannon of Bengal, Okla.; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
