Mildred Bethel
GANS — Mildred F. Bethel, 88, of Gans died Tuesday, July 22, 2003, in Norman, Okla. She was born June 22, 1915, in Sebastian County. She was a retired postmaster at Gans Post Office and attended Gans Bible Church.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Gans Bible Church with burial at Memory Gardens cemetery in Muldrow under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Sallisaw.
She is survived by a daughter, Wanda Blake of Norman, Okla.; a son, Lander Bethel of Norman, Okla.; a half brother, Waldo Fischer of Seneca, Mo.; 17 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Doug, Scott and Steve Bethel, Jerry and Howard Blake and Adrian Page.
Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons.
The body may be viewed 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to Gans Bible Church.

Jack Fry Jr.
BEGGS, Okla. — Jack E. Fry Jr., 54, of Beggs, Okla., died Monday, July 21, 2003, in Muskogee, Okla. He was a trailer mechanic and served in the Army.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at King & Shearwood Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Stigler with burial at Antioch cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Gale; a daughter, Penny Knapp of Beggs, Okla.; two sons, Jackie Fry III of Mounds, Okla., and John Dock of Council Hill, Okla.; his father, Jack Fry Sr. of Checotah, Okla.; a sister, Linda Bolen of Wagoner, Okla.; three brothers, Joe and Roger Fry, both of Checotah, Okla., and Wayne Fry of Springdale; and eight grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Adam Martin, Kenny and Andy Parsons, Paul and Robby Knapp and Stevie Bolen.

Roy Haliztka
MENA — Roy Christopher Haliztka, 48, of Mena died Monday, July 21, 2003, in Acorn. He was born June 2, 1955, in Lorain, Ohio. He was a truck driver.
A memorial service will be 2 p.m. today at Board Camp Baptist Church. The body was cremated under the direction of Hall Funeral Service of Mena.
He is survived by his wife, Jackie; a daughter, Amanda Haliztka of Mena; two sons, Aaron Brandon and James Haliztka, both of Mena; his parents, Patricia Haliztka of Lorain, Ohio, and Jim Haliztka of Mena; a sister, Dina Haliztka of Lorain, Ohio; and one grandchild.

Oleta Johnson
Oleta Faye Johnson, 71, of Van Buren died Wednesday, July 23, 2003, in a local hospital. She was born Sept. 2, 1931, in Mulberry. She was a retired employee of Whirlpool Corp. and a former employee of Dixie Cup for more than 20 years.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Hight cemetery in Mulberry under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Fort Smith.
She is survived by a daughter, Leslie Parrish of Tulsa; two sisters, Carleta Peters of Mulberry and Mary Johnson of Lavaca; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Richard, Mike and David Peters, Larry Johnson, Paul Fisher and James Peters.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

James Collier
CHERRYVALE, Kan. — James R. Collier, 74, of Cherryvale, Kan., died Wednesday, July 23, 2003, in his home. He was born Oct. 19, 1928, in Marfa, Texas. He attended Northern Arizona State University, received his bachelor’s degree at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, was a sports reporter for Southwest Times Record, received his master’s degree at Pittsburg State University at Pittsburg, Kan., was a special education teacher at Cherryvale schools, was a coach and counselor at other schools, was a lay Presbyterian minister, a member of Cherryvale Presbyterian Church and the Cherryvale Country Club. He was the widower of Mary Collier.
Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Cherryvale Presbyterian Church under the direction of Potts Chapel in Cherryvale, Kan. The body will be cremated.
He is survived by five daughters, Velia West of Pittsburg, Kan., Marta Fielden of Hulbert, Okla., Reda Ford of Oklahoma City, Lisa Collier of Lawrence, Kan., and Janine Collier of Alva, Okla.; a son, Stephen Collier of Ozawkie, Kan.; and 14 grandchildren.
Friends may call at the funeral home from noon to 8 p.m. today.
Memorial contributions may be made to South Montgomery County Relay for Life or Mount St. Mary’s Catholic School in Little Rock, or mailed to the funeral home, c/o Potts Chapel, P.O. Box 801, Independence, KS 67301.

Chesley Benson
HOWE — Chesley A. Benson, 90, of Howe died Wednesday, July 23, 2003, in Fort Smith. He was a retired coal miner, a member of United Mine Workers of America, a rock and brick mason, past member of Howe Public School Board of Education and of the Baptist faith.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. today at Howe cemetery under the direction of Dowden Funeral Home of Heavener.
He is survived by his wife, Hazel; a daughter, Mary Benson of Howe; two sons, Jimmy Benson of Collinsville, Okla., and Paul Benson of Heavener; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one stepgreat-grandchild.

Joyce Ragsdale
LAMAR — Joyce A. Ragsdale, 51, of Lamar died Thursday, July 24, 2003, in Clarksville.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Monday at Minnow Creek cemetery in Lamar under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home of Clarksville.
She is survived by her husband, Ronald; a son, Michael Griffin of Lamar; her parents, Robert and Virginia Metzger of Knoxville; two sisters, Barbara Wright of Arizona and Lavina Metzger of Pennsylvania; two brothers, Robert Metzger of Nevada and Thomas Metzger of Arizona.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

William Farr
GREENWOOD — William “Bill” Farr, 80, of Greenwood died Wednesday, July 23, 2003, in a Fort Smith hospital. He was a self-employed mechanic, an Army veteran of World War II, a member of the Harris-Hannah V.F.W. Post No. 6527 and a member of Washburn United Methodist Church.
Graveside service will be 9 a.m. Saturday at Dawson cemetery in Milltown under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood.
He is survived by his wife, Ellen; a sister, Hazel King of Greenwood; and a brother, John Farr Jr. of Jackson, Miss.
Pallbearers will be George Bell, Winston Nichols, Carroll Turner, Ronnie Seiter, Bill Barnes, Rob Eden, Dale Cochran and Ron Baker.
The body may be viewed 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Edith Weathers
COAL HILL — Edith M. Weathers, 90, of Coal Hill died Thursday, July 24, 2003, in her home. She was born April 24, 1913, in Denning. She was a homemaker, a lifelong member of Coal Hill Methodist Church and the widow of Charles Weathers.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Hardwicke Funeral Home Chapel in Clarksville with burial at Coal Hill cemetery.
She is survived by a daughter, Becky Burke of Coal Hill; two sons, Marvin and Bob Weathers, both of Coal Hill; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
The family will visit with friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Logan Ramos
Logan Blake Rodel Ramos, infant son of Victoria Sumerix of Fort Smith and Melvin Ramos of Fort Smith, died Wednesday, July 23, 2003, in a Little Rock hospital.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. today at Woodlawn Mausoleum Chapel with burial at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Fort Smith under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his paternal grandparents, Pedro and Fidela Ramirez Ramos of Guatemala; and maternal grandparents, Eva Sumerix of Spiro and Paul Sumerix of Michigan.
Pallbearers will be Kenny Wray, Amanda Rogers and Josh Oliver.

Ruth Hyatt
CEDARVILLE — Fannie Ruth Hyatt, 61, of Cedarville died Thursday, July 24, 2003, in a local hospital. She attended Uniontown Assembly of God, was a homemaker and the widow of Walter Hyatt.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Samrock cemetery near Cove City under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home Van Buren.
She is survived by three daughters, Joyce McCormick of Fort Smith, Kathryn Inthavong of Uniontown and Ardella Duke of Cedarville; two sons, Leroy Hyatt of Dardanelle and Leon Hyatt of Cedarville; a sister, Florence Fredrick of Farmington; two brothers, Sam Moses of Ramona, Okla., and Jessie Moses of Cedarville; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Eugene and Charles Bentley, Clarence Richards, Kenneth McClendon, Lonnie Landrum, Charles Alls and Cheston Brock.

Arvilla Langston
GREENWOOD — Arvilla C. May Langston, 81, of Greenwood, formerly of Jackson, Miss., died Wednesday, July 23, 2003. She was born Nov. 20, 1921. She was a member of Rye Hill Baptist Church in Fort Smith, a former member of Northside Baptist Church in Clinton, Miss., a charter member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church in Jackson, Miss., where she served as a nursery worker for many years. She worked for Nick Walker Insurance Agency in Jackson for more than 20 years and was the widow of Leo Langston.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Lakewood Memorial Funeral Home in Jackson, Miss.
She is survived by two daughters, Lelia Branch of Baton Rouge, La., and Laura Neal of Greenwood; a son, the Rev. David Langston of Georgetown, Miss.; a sister, Hazel Campisi of Shreveport, La.; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
The family will visit with friends from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Ethan Jackson
SCRANTON — Ethan Dean Jackson, 11, of Scranton died Wednesday, July 23, 2003, in Clarksville.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Prairie View cemetery under the direction of Roller Funeral Home of Paris.
He is survived by his mother, Terry Jackson of Scranton; a brother, Lannie Anderson of Scranton; and his grandparents, Donna and Lannie Jackson of Scranton.
The body may be viewed noon to 8 p.m. today and until service.

Richard Simmons
JENNY LIND — Richard Lee Simmons, 36, of Jenny Lind died Monday, July 21, 2003, in Jenny Lind. He was a carpenter for Conklin Construction Co.
Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at First Assembly of God in Charleston. The body was cremated under the direction of Rowell-Parish Mortuary of Fort Smith.
He is survived by a daughter, Larissa Simmons of Carson City, Calif.; his mother and stepfather, Janet and Kenny Bolin of Crossett; a sister, Tina Simmons of Booneville; and a brother, Kevin Simmons of Booneville.

Georgia Willett
Georgia Willett, 82, of Fort Smith passed away Thursday, Aug. 14, 2003. She was born April 7, 1921, to Roy Fondern and Mary Swoops in Bluegrass, Ky. She was a member of the Assembly of God in Arkoma.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Willett; a daughter, Beatrice Johnson; a son, Ron Willett; six daughters, Marie Wibbing of Fort Smith, Rosemary Toman of Republic, Mo., Louise Mackey of Arkoma, Connie Lankford of Liberty, Okla., and Freda Wakefield and Tammy Sanders, both of Clarksville; five sons, Charles and Gary Willett, both of Arkoma, Ricky Willett of Bonanza, Larry Willett of Gentry and Jerry Willett of Fort Smith; a sister, Blanchie Gist of Fort Smith; a brother, John C. Fondren of Fort Smith; 38 grandchildren, 60 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at the Assembly of God in Arkoma with Brother Roger Myers officiating under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
The family will greet friends from 3 to 4 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Charles, Ricky, Gary, Larry and Jerry Willett.
