Lonnie D. Campbell
Lonnie D. Campbell went to be with the Lord Saturday, Aug. 16, 2003. He was born May 24, 1937, at Elnora to William L. and Lavada Simpson Campbell. He died at his home in Fort Smith after a long battle with cancer.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Jean and three sons, Bruce of Little Rock, Scott of Fort Smith and Philip and his wife, Alecia of Mount Ida; six grandchildren, Josh of Russellville, Ashley of Fayetteville, Courtney of Carlisle, Jacob of Waldron, Paige of Greenwood and Garrett of Mount Ida. He also is survived by his two sisters, Norma Jean Campbell of Little Rock and JoAnn Griffin of Franklin, Tenn.; and his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Harold and Billie Green of Hot Springs.
Lonnie was a member of the Fianna Hills Baptist Church and was serving as an active deacon. He loved his Lord and his Christian brothers and sisters.
Lonnie and Jean would have celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary Sept. 24. They were high school sweethearts and lifelong best friends. “Dad” was an inspiration and role model for his sons. “Pop” will be greatly missed by his grandchildren who always brought a smile to his face and of whom he was very proud.
Lonnie had a long and distinguished career in the oil and gas industry in Oklahoma, Texas and Louisiana. He was an officer in several large crude oil purchasing and trading companies as well as refineries. He traveled to many foreign countries. Later he and his families established several businesses, including a natural gas transmission company in Oklahoma. After retiring from these businesses, he and his family operated a real estate agency in Waldron.
Lonnie served his country in the Air Force for four years. He was a former director and founder of the Commonwealth Bank in Houston, former director of the Scott County Bank (Chambers Bank) in Waldron, and served on the board of the Mercy Hospital in Waldron.
He was appointed to the Arkansas Motor Vehicle Commission by Gov. Mike Huckabee and served as chairman of the commission for two years. He was past chairman of the Scott Republican Committee, and was currently serving as the state committeeman for the Sebastian County Republican Committee.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Fianna Hills Baptist Church under the direction of Ocker-Putman Funeral Home of Fort Smith. The Revs. Ken Stadler and Terry Russell will officiate. Graveside service will be 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Joplin cemetery near Mount Ida with the Rev. Ronny Noles officiating.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Ocker-Putman Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Earl Amos, Bill Barker, Bill Franklin, Harlon Hawkins, Ken McKinney and Pete Powell. Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of Fianna Hills Baptist Church, Dr. Tony Flippin and the staff at Hembree Cancer Center, and member of the Arkansas Motor Vehicle Commission.
Kendell Kent McClain
Kendell Kent McClain, 39, of Cedarville died Saturday, Aug. 16, 2003, in Cedarville. He was born Feb. 9, 1964, in Fort Smith. He was employed by McClain Sheet Metal and attended First Christian Church in Ozark.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Ozark First Christian Church with burial at cemetery Ridge in Ozark with the Rev. Wendell Keller officiating, under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home of Ozark.
He is survived by his parents, Nancy and Frank Medlock of Ozark and Jackie and Mary McClain of Van Buren; four sisters, Nanette McClain and Carolyn Davis, both of Van Buren, Tammy Hayes of Rudy and Shannon Chote of Lamar; two brothers, Donn McClain and Scott Medlock, both of Ozark; his maternal grandmother, Inez DeVito of Fort Smith; paternal grandmother, Audrey McClain of Ozark; nephews, Larry Knight of Kibler, Lance Knight, Andrew Mattoon and Zachary McClain, all of Van Buren and Ryan McClain of Ozark; and several other nieces and nephews.
Roy Metcalf
CHARLESTON — Roy Gene Metcalf, 75, of Charleston died Monday, Aug. 18, 2003, in Charleston. He was born March 11, 1928, in Franklin County. He was a plant supervisor for Darrell Thomas Co. in Fort Smith, an Army veteran of the 
Korean War and a member of Potts Free Will Baptist Church.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Smith Mortuary Chapel in Charleston with burial at Garden of Memories cemetery in Charleston.
He is survived by his wife, Betty; a daughter, Vicki Tate of Charleston; two sons, Michael Metcalf of Charleston and Brian Metcalf of Denton, Texas; two stepdaughters, Sue Boehm of San Luis Obispo, Calif., and Judy Carpenter of Camarillo, Calif.; two stepsons, Don Foster of Oxnard, Calif., and Mike Foster of Turlock, Calif.; eight grandchildren, seven stepgrandchildren, four great-grandchildren and five stepgreat-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Josh and Dakota Tate, Casey and Blake Metcalf, Coy and Tyler Robertson and Charles Conway.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Edward Neihouse
COAL HILL — Edward Joseph Neihouse, 77, of Coal Hill died Saturday Aug. 16, 2003, in Ozark. He was an Army veteran of World War II, a retired carpenter, a member of VFW Eagles, the American Legion and of the Catholic faith. He was the widower of Bernadine Neihouse and Lucille Neihouse and Helen Neihouse.
Rosary will be 7 p.m. today at Roller-Cox Funeral Home in Clarksville.
Mass will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Altus with burial at St. Mary’s cemetery.
He is survived by a stepdaughter, Marsha Oehischlager of New Mexico; a sister, Geraldine Ball of Kansas City, Mo.; a brother, Gerad Neihouse of Coal Hill; and four stepgrandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Edward and Mark Cecil, Anthony, Gary and Gary Neihouse Jr. and John Bartlett.
Jessie Baker
LAMAR — Jessie Evelyn Baker, 86, of Lamar died Saturday, Aug. 16, 2003, in Little Rock. She was a homemaker, a retired shoe factory worker and a member of Lamar Baptist Church. She was the widow of John Baker.
Funeral will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Lamar Baptist Church with burial at Lamar cemetery under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home of Clarksville.
She is survived by a son, Clifford Baker of Lamar; three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and three stepgreat-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be deacons of Lamar Baptist Church.
Honorary pallbearers will be her great-grandchildren.

Charles Marion
Charles E. Marion, 80, of Van Buren died Saturday, Aug. 16, 2003, in Little Rock. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and a member of Parkview Alliance Church.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Ocker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Woodlawn Memorial Garden in Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Thelma; three daughters, Linda Downs of Columbus, Ann Wise of Van Buren and Sue Suter of Fort Smith; a son, Gaylen Marion of Van Buren; a sister, Dorothea Lambi of Des Moines, Iowa; 18 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Stephen Wise, Dean Marion Jr., Donnie Gentry, Jan Wells, Brandon Gish, Terry Hollan, Thomas Deters and A.K. McBride.

Reggie Lairamore
BURKBURNETT, Texas — Reggie Lairamore, 21, of Burkburnett, Texas, died Saturday, Aug. 16, 2003, in Wichita Falls, Texas. He was born June 5, 1982, in Moore, Okla. He graduated from Burkburnett High School in 2001 and Tech School in Duncan, Okla., and was an employee at Napco Pipe Manufactures of Wichita Falls and a member of First Baptist Church.
Funeral will be 4 p.m. today at First Baptist Church in Burkburnett with burial at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Macedonia cemetery in Pocola under the direction of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home of Burkburnett.
He is survived by his parents, Ron and Kathy Lairamore of Burkburnett; a sister, Rishelle Duyck of Wichita Falls, Texas; his grandparents, Faye Lairamore of Pocola, Nadine Haney of Burkburnett and Coy and Alice Haney of Weatherford, Okla.

Eva Roth
MENA — Eva Mae Roth, 96, of Mena died Saturday, Aug. 16, 2003, in Mena. She was born Aug. 15, 1907, in Clay County. She was an LPN and a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Mena. She was the widow of Edward Roth.
Graveside service will be 1 p.m. today at Gravel Hill cemetery in St. Francis under the direction of Beasley-Wood Funeral Home of Mena.
She is survived by 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Edward Monks
BOKOSHE — Edward Dean “Deano” Monks, 60, of Bokoshe died Saturday, Aug. 16, 2003, in his home. He was a veteran.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Old Panther cemetery in McCurtain, Okla., under the direction of King & Shearwood Funeral Home of Stigler.
He is survived by four daughters, Peggy, Beronica and Dana Monks, all of Anadarko, Okla., and Candy Hunt of McCurtain; two sons, Eddie Monks of Anadarko and Edwin Sloan of Stigler; a stepdaughter, Patricia Capehart; five sisters, Faye Clayton, Irene Stockton, Helen McKibben, LaDonna Ford and Lois Lawson; three half sisters, Sherry Williams, Debbie Baxter and Dolly Bush; three half brothers, Calvin Blagg, Stanley and Emer Monks; and 13 grandchildren; and a companion, Punkin Cox.
Pallbearers will be Lewis Lovell, Gene Mink, Robbie Shores, Michael and Jerry Ford and Stephen McKibben.

Opal Tompkins
SPIRO — Opal Tompkins, 91, of Spiro died Saturday, Aug. 16, 2003, in Spiro. She was a homemaker, a retired secretary for the Butcher’s Union in California, a Gold Star mother and of the Pentecostal faith.
Burial of cremains will be at New Hope cemetery under the direction of Mallory Funeral Home of Spiro.
She is survived by a daughter, Jan Oller of Spiro; a brother, Larry Fiscus of Chester, Calif.; and two grandchildren.
Juanita Thornton
MENA — Juanita B. Thornton, 86, of Mena died Friday, Aug. 15, 2003, in her home. She was born May 31, 1917, in Acorn. She was a homemaker, an insurance agent, a member of First United Methodist Church and the American Legion Auxiliary. She was the widow of James Thornton.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church with burial at Pinecrest Memorial Park under the direction of Hall Funeral Service of Mena.
She is survived by two sons, Jeremy and John Thornton, both of Mena; two sisters, Martha Slay of Mena and BeBe Whitley of Shreveport, La.; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Roy Roberts
EAKLY, Okla. — Roy Lim Roberts, 56, of Eakly, Okla. died Saturday, Aug. 16, 2003, in Oklahoma City. He was born March 19, 1947, in Heavener. He was an Army veteran and worked for the railroad.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Glendale cemetery under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.
He is survived by two daughters, Angela Mink and Christine Raves, both of Poteau; a son, Nathan Roberts of Poteau; his mother, Christine Roberts of Eakly; two sisters, Kathrine Truijillo of Eakly and Violet Mendenhall of Hartford; a brother, Earnest Roberts of Eakly; and six grandchildren.
Alvin Clancy
GORE — Alvin T. Clancy, 77, of Gore died Sunday, Aug. 17, 2003, in Tulsa. He was born April 23, 1926, in Elk City, Okla. He was an auto parts salesman at A.B. Automotive in Oklahoma City for 35 years, a member of Gore United Methodist Church and the AWO.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Gore United Methodist Church with burial at Gore cemetery under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Gore.
He is survived by his wife, Pat; two daughters, Debra Flynn of Perkins, Okla., and Sandra Tully of Edmond, Okla.; a stepdaughter, Laura Owen of Tyler, Texas; a stepson, Keith Moore of Dallas; two sisters, Lois Timmons of Midwest City, Okla., and Nadine Garrett of Oklahoma City; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
