Herbert Leon Morgan Sr.

Retired farmer

MARKED TREE -- Herbert Leon Morgan Sr., 69, of Marked Tree died Monday, Feb. 21, at his residence.

Born in Tennessee, he served in the Army during the Korean War and was a retired farmer.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Morgan of Marked Tree; a daughter, Heather Nicole Morgan of Marked Tree; five sons, Herbert Morgan Jr. and Billy Joe Morgan, both of Trumann, Earnest Wayne Morgan and John Wilson Morgan, both of Marked Tree, and Edward Ray Morgan of Turrell; and 13 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Wilson and Velma Morgan, and one sister.

The body was cremated under the direction of Wilson Funeral Home.

Melba F. Musick

JONESBORO -- Melba F. Musick, 61, of Jonesboro died Monday, Feb. 21.

Born in Turrell, she had lived in Dallas before moving to Jonesboro. She was a homemaker, had been honored for her artwork and attended North Main Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, G.W. Musick of the home; a sister, Emma Mae Warren of Jonesboro; and one grandchild, Mariah Campbell of Jonesboro.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Emma Rogers.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in the chapel of Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home, with Tommy Stacey officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Log Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Mike Campbell, Jason Hart, Paul Davidson, Terry Hargett, Clif Griffin and Gene McDaniel.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the American Kidney Fund, 6110 Executive Blvd., Suite 1010, Rockville, Md. 20852.

Lawrence Melvin Peterson

POCAHONTAS -- Lawrence Melvin Peterson, 90, of Pocahontas died Monday, Feb. 21, at Outlook Pointe of Hendersonville, Tenn.

He was born in Los Angeles.

Survivors include a son, Lane Peterson of Santa Clarita, Calif.; a brother, Robert Peterson of Las Vegas; four sisters, Rosa Peterson, Janine Kauffman, Jennifer Munoz and Rebecca Munoz; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline Peterson; one daughter, Lori Munoz; and one sister.

The body was cremated under the direction of McNabb Funeral Home of Pocahontas.

No services are scheduled, and burial will be in Randolph Memorial Gardens at Pocahontas.

Leola Juanita Rogers

PARAGOULD -- Leola Juanita Rogers, 82, of Paragould died Sunday, Feb. 20, at Rector Health Care.

Born in Paragould, she was a former saleswoman for Gregory Hardware and a member of East Side Baptist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Sandra Bomar of Paragould; a sister, Charlene Newman of Norcross, Ga.; two grandchildren, Carissa Mangrum and Michael Bomar, both of Paragould; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Daulton Rogers; her parents, James O. Campbell and Arizona Sanders Campbell; and two brothers.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Heath Funeral Home's Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Max Gregory and the Rev. Dennis Scudder officiating. Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery at Paragould.

Pallbearers will be Bufford Adams, Larry Beliew, Jack Cox Sr., Bill Oliver, Joe Reeves and Bill Rowland.

Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to East Side Baptist Church.

Carolyn Sue Sharkey

ROCKFORD, Ill. -- Carolyn Sue Sharkey, 68, of Rockford died Saturday, Feb. 19.

Born in Smithville, she was a homemaker and a member of Women of the Moose Lodge and Woodside General Baptist Church of Rockford.

Survivors include her husband, Thomas B. Sharkey; a son, Jerry Allen "Al" Andrews; two stepsons, Thomas Sharkey and Kenneth Sharkey; two stepdaughters, Catherine Smalley and Maureen Sharkey; three brothers, Dean Clark, Leroy Clark and Charles Clark; a sister, Betty Lou Lawson; two grandchildren, Michael Andrews and Cory Andrews; 10 stepgrandchildren; and eight stepgreat-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis E. and Julie Clark.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. today at Woodside General Baptist Church, with Bill Martin officiating. Burial will follow in Arlington Burial Park under the direction of Fred C. Olson Funeral Chapels Ltd., East Chapel, Rockford.

Charles Shourd

CORNING -- Charles Shourd, 73, of Corning died Monday, Feb. 21, at Veterans Affairs Medical Center at Poplar Bluff, Mo.

Born at Searcy, he was a farmer and trucker. An Army veteran, he was a member of the Tipperary Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Lee Shourd of the home; two sons, David Shourd of Knobel and Ronnie Shourd of Corning; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Ermert Funeral Home of Corning, with burial in Corning Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Edwin Sitzer

Rice farmer

WEINER -- Edwin Sitzer, 77, of Weiner died Tuesday, Feb. 22, at NEA Medical Center.

He lived his entire life at Weiner and was a lifelong member of St. Anthony's Church. He was a World War II Navy veteran who served in the Pacific. A retired rice farmer, he had served on the board of directors for Riceland Foods, Farm Bureau and Farmer's Supply.

Survivors include his wife, Blanche Smith Sitzer of the home; one son, Eddie Crist Sitzer of Weiner; one daughter, Tish Westerman of Weiner; two brothers, Oscar Sitzer and Leonard Sitzer, both of Weiner; six grandchildren, Colt Sitzer, Krista Westerman, Kylee Westerman, Kurt Westerman, Courtney Smith and Stevie McCullar; and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph C. and Elizabeth Bornhoft Sitzer, and three brothers.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Anthony's Church, with the Rev. Mark Wood, Sherman Ivy and Jim West officiating. Burial will be in St. Anthony's Cemetery under direction of Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home of Weiner.

Active pallbearers will be Ivy children -- Lee Dean, Cordy Sue, Sherman, Johnny, Jackie, Kathy, Myrla Faye, Jerry Don and Randy -- and Todd Forrest and Tim Forrest.

Honorary pallbearers will include nieces and nephews, members of St. Anthony's Church, Weiner Methodist Church members, Taylor Bradley, Roger Bradley and Tommy Bradley, Mr. and Mrs. Bud Wright, Mr. and Mrs. Edsel Wright, members of the Weiner Fire Department, Doyle Hillis, Boo Clark, Vicky Clark and Megan Clark.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Rosary service will be at 7:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Weiner Fire Department, St. Anthony's Church or the Methodist Church.

Maurice E. Sullivan Sr.

CALAMINE -- Maurice E. Sullivan Sr., 81, of Calamine died Monday, Feb. 21, at his residence.

A native of Calamine, he had worked as a farmer, mail carrier and bus driver and was of the Methodist faith.

Survivors include his wife, Argie Foster Sullivan of the home; three sons, Maurice Sullivan Jr., Jerry Sullivan and Gary Sullivan, all of Calamine; a daughter, Wanda Richard of Cheyenne, Wyo.; six grandchildren, Hayley Tibbs of Arkadelphia, Jody Sullivan and Jason Sullivan, both of Calamine, Susan Haner and Jerresa Richard, both of Cheyenne, and Jeremy Sullivan of Monette; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bromley and Mary Lee Young Sullivan, and two brothers.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in the chapel of Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City, with the Rev. Jim Tirey and Jeremy Sullivan officiating. Burial will follow in McAdams Cemetery near Calamine.

Active pallbearers will be Jason Sullivan, DeWayne Tibbs, James Sullivan, David Anderson, Rob Mize and Colonel Marlin.

Honorary pallbearers will include Jerry Price, Tommy Massey and Mitchell Brewer.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
