W.H. Prock
W.H. Prock, 86, of Fort Smith died Saturday, Aug. 30, 2003, in a nursing home. He was born Sept. 22, 1916, in Shady Point. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Panama and a retired rancher. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Estella Prock; a brother, L.D. Prock; and four sisters, Nevada Fetters, Bernice Prock, Alice Johnson and Nellie Lawson.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Haven Heights Baptist Church. Officiating the service will be the Rev. Tim Prock, the Rev. Jackie Edwards and the Rev. Pete Butler. Burial will be at Greenhill cemetery in Cameron under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; a son and daughter-in-law, Dr. W. Neal and Nita Prock of Fort Smith; three sisters, Mabel Coons of Sallisaw, Imojean Jones of Keota and Ramona Prock of Roland; two grandchildren, Timothy Prock of Paris and Mark Prock of Fort Smith; five great-grandchildren, David, Daniel, Mason, Drew and Marri Prock; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be A.W. Mitchael, Jim Young, Lois and Bill Petty, David Lovegrove and David Prock.
The family will visit with friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Lawton Rice
Lawton Rice, 92, of Van Buren died Saturday, Aug. 30, 2003, in a local nursing home. He was a retired employee of Union Pacific Railroad and a lifelong resident of Van Buren.
Graveside service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Gracelawn cemetery under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
He is survived by his wife, Lillie Rice; a daughter, Carol McCubbin and husband Jim of Gladewater, Texas; a son, Bob Rice and wife Kim of Arvada, Colo.; two grandchildren; Eddie Carter of Mesa, Ariz., and Keith Carter of Gladewater, Texas; and two great-grandchildren, Shannon and Brad Carter, both of Arlington, Texas.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home, 700 Jefferson St., Van Buren.
Sarrah Viola Brown
Sarrah Viola Brown, 74, was born May 4, 1929, in Crawford County. She was retired after 43 years from Wortz Biscuit Company of Fort Smith. She died Saturday, Aug. 30, 2003.
She was a member of Rena Road Church of Christ. She is survived by two nieces, Glenda Sheppard of Crystle, Minn., and Sarrah Ann Piper and her husband Olen of Newark, Texas; a great niece, Kathy Piper of Newark; a great nephew, Frank Piper of Newark; a brother-in-law, Glenn Sheppard of Fort Worth, Texas; her chosen family, Albert and Lily Anne McFarland of Sun City, Calif., Shirley Cole of Bella Vista, Bernice McFarland of Van Buren, Roberta and Jimmy Burkhart of Alma, Kathy and Jay Davis of Hackett and Virginia and Whitey Stallings of Fort Smith; and many cousins, nieces and nephews who loved her very much.
Graveside service has been set for Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Sarah Grove cemetery, with burial to follow, under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
MARIA JULIA PERLA
Maria Julia Perla, 40, of Van Buren, died Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2001, in a local hospital. She was a homemaker and attended First Spanish Church Assembly of God.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at Gill cemetery in Van Buren under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith.
She is survived by her husband, Antonia; a daughter, Estefani Perla of Van Buren; and her grandmother, Alandra Perla.

OZARK — Mildred G. Banhart, 58, of Ozark, died Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2001, in her home. She was a homemaker and a member of the Pentecostal church.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Belt cemetery in Ozark under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home in Ozark.
She is survived by her husband, Loyd Banhart; a daughter, Christine Roberts of Ozark; a son, Orla Larsen of Ozark; two sisters, Bonnie Owens of Ozark and Lorene Banhart of Denning; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

CLARKSVILLE — Lewis Edward Boen, 80, of Clarksville, died Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2001, in Johnson Regional Medical Center. He was a machinist and millwright.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Roller-Cox Chapel in Clarksville with burial at Rosetta cemetery in Rosetta under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home in Clarksville.
He is survived by several great nieces and nephews; a friend, Mary Garrison; a sister-in-law, Bernice Boen of Hagarville; a niece, Bernal Boen Warren of Clarksville and two nephews, Bobby Boen and Doyle Boen, both of Hagarville.

HEAVENER — Mildred “Welch” Fortner, 85, of Heavener, died Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2001, in Poteau. She was a longtime resident of the Reichert community and a member of the Pilgrim’s Rest Baptist Church.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Pilgrim’s Rest Baptist Church in Heavener with burial at Reichert cemetery in Heavener under the direction of Dowden Funeral Home in Heavener.
She is survived by three daughters, Louise Cruse of Mountain Grove, Mo., Cleo Reed of Tulsa and Patsy Ragland of Vian; a brother, Claud Welch; three sisters, Delma Gibson, Thelma Adams and Clara Welch; two sisters-in-law, Myra Burgess of Wister and Imogene Welch of Heavener; a special friend, Daphane Gossett of Heavener; sox grandchildren, Amy LeMaster, Erin Sugg, James Cruse, Raymond Brown, Brian Reed and Heath Reed and five great-grandchildren.

BOONEVILLE — Mary E. Siddons, 49, of Booneville, died Thursday, Nov. 22, 2001, in a Booneville hospital. She was of the Methodist faith.

RAYMOND HUFFMAN
Raymond “Gene” Huffman, 75, of Van Buren, died Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2001, in his home. He was a retired firefighter with 39 years of service, a fire instructor for the U.S. Army Fort Chaffee Fire Department, a former instructor for fire service at Westark Community College, state of Arkansas Fire Academy in Conway and U.S. Department of Defense, Lawrence Livermore Radiation Laboratory in California and a member of Bonanza Church of Christ.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Gracelaen cemetery in Van Buren under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Estine; two extended family daughters, Barbara Huffman of Sallisaw and Joyce Knight of Fort Smith; a son, Gary of Van Buren; a brother, Andy of Ridgecrest, Calif.; seven grandchildren, Chris Huffman, Kendrick Oliver, Taylor Knight, Shari Huffman, Christina Berto of Van Buren and Kyle and Kevin Bufkin.
Pallbearers will be area firefighters.

LAVACA — Bill Brown Sr., 61, of Lavaca, died Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2001, in his home. He was the owner of Bill’s Heating and Air and of the Baptist faith.

Brown Jr. of Pocola, George Brown of Fort Smith and Herbert Brown of Lavaca; and eight grandchildren.

GREENWOOD — John Francis Sharum, 71, of Greenwood, died Thursday, Nov. 22, 2001, in Greenwood. He was retired from Whirlpool Corp., served 16 years in the U.S. Air Force and was a member of Sts. Sabina and Mary Catholic Church in Jenny Lind.
Rosary services will be 7 p.m. today at Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Barling. Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart of Mary Church with burial at St. Mary’s cemetery in Fort Chaffee under the direction of Smith Mortuary Inc. in Charleston.
He is survived by his wife, Celestine; two daughters, Gerardette Steinkamp of Greenwood and Charlotte Runnels of Bixby; a son, Anthony of Greenwood; a brother, Davis of Barling; and nine grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Allen Denton, Benjamin, Randy and Donald Sharum, Roy Brown and Jack Madden.

ROLAND — Michael E. “Mike” Bigler Mike Bigler, 62, of Roland, died Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2001, in a Fort Smith hospital. He was a 25-year employee of Rheem Manufacturing in Fort Smith, of the Protestant faith and an Air Force veteran of the Vietname War.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Coop Prairie cemetery near Mansfield under the direction of Agent Funeral Home in Roland.
He is survived by a lifelong friend, Jerry Hoffman of Fort Smith; two daughters, Sherrie McCutcheon and Kimberly Williams, both of Charleston; a son, Terry Bigler of Sallisaw; three stepsons, Jack and Mike Cason of Fort Smith and Rick Cason of Swifton; a sister, Donna LaHaie of Fort Smith; a brother, Tommey Bigler of Katy, Texas; and 10 grandchildren.

DELAWARE — Clyde Roger Wurst, 87, of Delaware, died Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2001, in a Dardanelle nursing home. He was born Dec. 13, 1913, in Delaware, was retired from Craftsman Charter and was a memebr of the First First Baptist Church in Delaware.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Delaware with burial at Graves cemetery in Delaware under the direction of Cornwell Funeral Home in Dardanelle.
He is survived by three daughters, Evelyn Anderson, Jewell Hill and Christine Jones, all of Delaware; two sons, Carl and David, both of Delaware; six sisters, Rose Humphrey of Paris and Clara Flurry, Ruth Ware, Jicie Richardson, June Campbell and Maude Spicer, all of Delaware; two brothers, Houston Wurst of Fort Smith and Fred Wurst of Paris; 16 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Catherine Hoge Gilman
Catherine Hoge Gilman, 85, of Fort Smith, died Nov. 20, 2001, at S.t Edward Hospital. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, a charter member of the Fort Smith Junior League and also a member of the Presidential Inner Circle. She was a retired buyer for the china and gift department of the Boston Store.
Rosary service will be 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 26, 2001, at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel. Mass service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2001. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with burial at Holy Cross cemetery under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Larry Gilman, and one son, Willard C. Smith, Jr.
She is survived by two sons, Arthur Hoge Smith of Portland, Ore., and David Rollins Smith of Midland, Texas; one daughter-in-law, Nancy Smith-Robinson of Fort Smith; two brothers, Dr. Marlin Hoge of Fort Smith and Dr. Arthur F. Hoge, Jr. of Tulsa; and six grandchildren, Willard “Tripp” Smith III of Fort Smith, Collier Wenderoth Smith of Fayetteville, Catherine “Katie” Smith Robinson of Fayetteville, Jennifer Smith of Austin, Texas, Ryan Smith of Waco, Texas, and Taylor Smith of Portland, Ore.
