Vera Roxie Turnbow

WALNUT RIDGE -- Vera Roxie Turnbow, 95, of Walnut Ridge died Monday, Feb. 21, at St. Bernard's Medical Center of Jonesboro.

Born at Denton, she was a homemaker and a member of Hoxie First Baptist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Bonnie Hinson of Albuquerque, N.M., and Betty Nutt of Fordyce; one brother, Leroy Moore of Citrus Springs, Fla.; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Bryan Funeral Home of Hoxie, with Lynn Garmroth officiating. Burial will be in the New Hope Cemetery near Denton.

There will be no visitation.

Jack Vowell

JONESBORO -- Jack Vowell, 88, of Jonesboro, formerly of Blytheville, died Tuesday, Feb. 22, at his residence.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Cobb Funeral Home of Blytheville.

Marvin Curtiss White

JONESBORO -- Marvin Curtiss White, 35, of Jonesboro died Monday, Feb. 21, at his residence.

He lived in Jonesboro most of his life.

Survivors include his father, Marvin Eugene White of Arab, Ala.; one brother, Christopher Wagner of Calico Rock; and three sisters, Mary Smith of Jonesboro, Terrie White of Batesville and Charlotte Warwick of Trumann.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Lavondis "Bonnie" White.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Pine Log Cemetery. Burial will be under direction of Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

William H. 'Bill' Blackburn

JONESBORO -- Funeral services for William H. "Bill" Blackburn, 87, of Jonesboro, formerly of Fort Smith, who died Thursday, March 17, at St. Bernard's Medical Center, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Langford-Bookout Funeral Home.

Dr. Bruce Tippit and Kathy Holler will officiate. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Jeffery Black, Frank Stringer, Bobby Puryear, Gregory Black, Gene Bosche and Charles "Chili" Davis.

Honorary pallbearers will include members of the Willard Watkins Sunday School Class, A.D. Loveless, Bill Davis and Frank Cole.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Care Center, 701 South Main, Jonesboro 72401.

Herbert Brake Sr.

JONESBORO -- Herbert Brake Sr., 91, of Jonesboro died Saturday, March 19, at St. Bernard's Medical Center.

Born at Waverly, Tenn., he lived in California and St. Louis prior to moving to Jonesboro and was a retired truck driver and rancher. He was of the Baptist belief.

Survivors include two sons, Herbert Brake Jr. of Jonesboro and Bill Brake of Hot Springs; a daughter, Peggy Wann of St. Louis; three grandchildren, Kay Tremont of Shelby, Mich., and Robbie Wann and Becky Bacher, both of St. Louis; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Inzer Brake.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery, with Kenneth Doke officiating. Roller-Farmers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Active pallbearers will include Floyd Inzer, Darren Harpole, Allen Huddle, Derick Inzer and Troy Hall.

Honorary pallbearers will include Lloyd Inzer, Brian Inzer and Scott Inzer.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Nan Bridges

LEACHVILLE -- Nan Bridges, 83, of Leachville died Saturday, March 19.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Howard Funeral Service of Leachville.

Doris Jean Brock

JONESBORO -- Doris Jean Brock, 83, of Jonesboro died Friday, March 18, at St. Bernard's Medical Center.

Born in Oklahoma, she had lived in Jonesboro for 20 years, was a retired nurse and was of the Methodist belief.

Survivors include a son, Gene Edward Brock of Anniston, Ala.; a daughter, Patricia Watson of Blytheville; five grandchildren, Joe Stroud, Debbie Johnson, Mark Brock, Lloyd Brock and Nancy Jean Brock; and a great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Brock; and her parents, J.L. and Eva Mae Lemmons Johnson.

Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Monday in Linwood Cemetery at Paragould.

No visitation is scheduled.

Coy B. Cato

POCAHONTAS -- Coy B. Cato, 79, of Pocahontas died Friday, March 18, at his residence.

Born at Reyno, he was Marine veteran of the Korean War and a member of Church of God of Prophecy.

Survivors include a son, Denny Cato of Maynard; two sisters, Gail Henson of Pocahontas and Penny of Texas; a brother, William "Bo" Cato of Doniphan, Mo.; a sister, Pauline Pitcher of Walnut Ridge; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Maudie Cato; a son, Bryant Cato; and his parents, William and Pernecie Allen Cato.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Cox-Waymon Funeral Home of Pocahontas, with Arvle Tribble officiating. Burial will be in Ingram Cemetery near Maynard, with Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 4556 conducting military honors.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Estle J. Crabtree

BATESVILLE -- Estle J. Crabtree, 84, of Batesville died Friday, March 18, at White River Medical Center at Batesville.

Born at Mobley, he was a retired farmer, a sawmill operator and a World War II Army veteran. He was a past member of the American Legion and a member of First Missionary Baptist Church at Cave City.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred Jo Lewis Crabtree of the home; three sons, Tony Crabtree of Clarksville, Jimmy Crabtree of Saffell and Gary Crabtree of Conway; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Emma Bell Crabtree; four brothers; three sisters; and a granddaughter.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at First Missionary Baptist Church at Cave City, with Ron Canard and Howard Brewer officiating. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery east of Cave City under the direction of Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.

Active pallbearers will be Greg Crabtree, Brad Maxwell, Mike Herring, Anthony Crabtree, Blayn Crabtree and Joshua Crabtree.

Honorary pallbearers will include Leonard Huff, Dutch Whitmire, Doug Adams and Doug Bennett.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Betty L. Cranmore

FLINT, Mich. -- Betty L. Cranmore, 75, of Flint died Tuesday, March 15, at her residence.

Born in the Nettleton community, she attended Grand Blanc Church of Christ.

Survivors include her husband, Amos "Mike" Cranmore of the home; a son, Michael Cranmore of St. Louis; a daughter, Sherri Strand of St. Louis; three sisters, Lila Wilson, Lula Barnett and Tommie Layne; a brother, Jerry Costner; four grandchildren, Carrie Mandel, Dallas Cranmore, Lily Strand and John Strand; and a great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and B. Jewel McMinn Costner.

Funeral services were held Friday at Swartz Funeral Home of Flint, with Dr. James Grotts officiating. Burial was in Crestwood Cemetery.
