Judy Ann Spangle, 59, of Fort Smith died Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2003, in Clarksville.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Woodlawn Memorial Park Chapel with burial at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Fort Smith under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
She is survived by two sisters, Patricia Johnson of Fort Smith and Dianna Reed of Lamar; a brother, Frank Spangle of Seattle.

Alta Alexander
MENA — Alta Mae Alexander, 77, of Mena, formerly of Barling, died Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2003, in Mena. She was born Sept. 19, 1925, in Garvin County, Okla. She was a homemaker and the widow of Edward Alexander.
Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Monday at U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Hall Funeral Service of Mena.
She is survived by a son, Richard Weaver; two sisters, Dorothy LaFrance of Plainview, Texas, and Eula Childers of Bakersfield, Calif.; and one grandchild.

James Harris
ALMA — James Lee Harris, 64, of Alma died Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2003, in a local hospital. He was a retired machine operator for Allen Canning Co. of Alma, an Air Force veteran and attended Rudy Baptist Church and the Bible Mission Church in Alma.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Monday at U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.
He is survived by his wife, Jackie; a daughter, Amber Stanart of Alma; a son, Raoul Harris of Van Buren; and two grandchildren.

Randy Randall
Randy Edward Randall, 40, of Van Buren died Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2003, in Conway. He was a supervisor for Clyde Randall Construction and of the Baptist faith.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Ocker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Gracelawn cemetery in Van Buren.
He is survived by his wife, Dayna; a daughter, Brandy Randall of Van Buren; two sons, Joshua and Jacob Randall, both of the home; his parents, Clyde and Judy Randall of Van Buren; a sister, Sandy Randall of Waxahachie, Texas.
Pallbearers will be Keith Cox, Lee Rodgers, George Calos, Keith Montgomery, David Campbell, Tommy Knox and Joe Chaffin.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Don Logan
MANSFIELD — Don Logan, 76, of Mansfield died Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2003, in Greenwood. He was a retired carpenter.
Graveside service will be 4 p.m. Saturday at Coop Prairie cemetery of Mansfield under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood.
He is survived by his wife, Bessie; three daughters, Connie Vaught of Sugarloaf, Sissie Payne of Mansfield and Donna Logan of Abilene, Texas; three sons, Eddie Rupe of Huntington, Donald Logan Jr. of Rule, Texas and Dale Logan of Abilene, Texas; two sisters, Jean Davis of Stanford, Texas, and Peggy Robinson of Abilene, Texas; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The body may be viewed 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Clatie Warren
Clatie Dell Warren, 82, of Fort Smith died Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2003, in a local hospital. She was born June 5, 1921, in Cornatzer, N.C., was a retired pharmacist after 30 years and a member of First Christian Church.
Memorial service will be 10 a.m. today at First Christian Church in Fort Smith under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Fort Smith.
She is survived by a stepdaughter, Darenda Mallard of Wimberly, Texas; a stepson, Gary Warren of Los Alamos, N.M.; and two stepgrandchildren.
The family will visit with friends today after the service at the church.

Louis Holland
BARLING — Louis L. Holland, 76, of Barling died Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2003, in Fort Smith. He was a retired truck driver for Stephens Production and a Navy veteran of World War II. He was the widower of Wilda Holland.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at Mayberry cemetery.
He is survived by a daughter, Marty Edgerton of Barling; three sisters, Anna Anderson of Barling, Dorothy Welch of Henderson and Linda Fields of Sherwood; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Tracy Powell, Grant Nicely, Don Smith, Don Smith Jr., Jerry Barling and Kenneth Smith.
The family will visit with friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Caleb Bean
Caleb Michael Bean, infant son of Dr. Paul and Shera Bean of Fort Smith, died Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2003, in Fort Smith.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Fort Smith under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by two brothers, Joshua and Zachary Bean, both of Fort Smith; his paternal grandparents, Eddie and Georgia Bean of Clarksville; maternal grandparents, Jim and Sharrol Hersuka of Gulf Shores, Ala.; maternal great-grandparents, John and Ann Hersuka of Gulf Shores, Ala.; and paternal great-grandparent, Pauline Reynolds of Clarksville.

Roger Greer Sr.
HARTMAN — Roger Wayne Greer Sr., 62, of Hartman died Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2003, in his home. He was a driver trainer, was in the trucking industry and a Baptist.
Memorial service will be 6 p.m. Saturday at the home in Hunt with military honors. Arrangements are under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home of Clarksville.
He is survived by his wife, Fran; a daughter, Michele Mancillas of the home; four sons, John Mancillas of the home, Jay, Buddy and Barton Greer, all of Texas; his mother, Lola Guin of Marshall, Texas; two sisters; and seven grandchildren.

Garland “Jack” Dodd
Garland “Jack” Dodd, SFC Army (retired), entered into rest Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2003, in a local hospital. He was born June 20, 1926, in Oklahoma. His Army career spanned 23 years; he served in World War II and the Korean War, as an infantry man and artillery man. His greatest treasures were his wife, children and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Terry Garland Dodd. Garland was survived by his wife, Lennie of the home; four daughters, Faye Hapka of Lawton, Okla., Deborah Kennemore of Tulsa, Jacqueline Schluterman of Dallas and Bessie Choate of Ozark; three sons, Ronnie Wayne Dodd of Fort Smith, William “Buttons” Dodd of Jenks, Okla., and Jack Lucy of Siloam Springs; eight sisters, Joyce Branham of Barling, Bessie Stevenson of Santa Rosa, Calif., Mildred Smith of Iowa, Carol Parrish of Van Buren, Joy Weems of Van Buren, Roseann Bristow of Fayetteville, Wilma Phillips of Fayetteville and Sue Pool of Fort Smith; two brothers, Billy Carl Dodd of Porter, Okla., and Toy Dodd of Oklahoma; 18 grandchildren, Sumer E. Kennemore, Ainsley Wilson, Brooka Smith, Branka Schluterman, Jason, Adam, Joshua, Katie, Amanda and Kelly Dodd and Stanley Hapka, Mike Lucy, Melissa Stephens, Kim Woods, Nick Hobbs, Shannon Jones, Pat and Donnie Choate; 16 great-grandchildren, Katelyn Smith, Lauren, Madeleine and Alexandra Hapka, Victoria Ferguson, Cassi Blacklock, Jason Lucy, Morgan, Noah and Allie Stephens, Mackenzie and Gunnar Woods, Hunter Hobbs, Cooper Jones, Leah and Jeffrey Choate.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. today at Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith with burial and full military honors at U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith.
Pallbearers will be Stanley Hapka, Jason, Adam, Joshua and Kelly Dodd and Mike Lucy.
Honorary pallbearers will be Tim Laymon, Guy “Frizz” Freeling, Ryan Smith, Randy Blacklock and Jim Hapka.

Lois Marie Combs
Lois Marie Combs, 89, of Caulksville died Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2003, in her home. She was born Jan. 11, 1914, in Logan County. She was co-founder, along with her husband, Paul, and owner of Combs Home Builders and House Moving since 1936. A lifelong resident of Logan County, she was the daughter of the late George Allen Hill and Lena Corley Hill. She was the eldest of six children. She was Arkansas’ only certified builder for VA, FHA and HUD for houses to be moved. She was a member of Arkansas and National House Movers Association. The Building Trades Association. She was selected as an honored member of Who’s Who in Executives and Professionals. A member a of North Logan County Chamber of Commerce, United States Chamber of Commerce and the United States Jaycees. She received the Community Service Award for Logan and Franklin counties for Manufacturers Expo. She was a major benefactor of North Logan Mercy Hospital. A benefactor and member of DAV Commanders Club, the Veterans of Foreign Wars. She was a member of Caulksville Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Caulksville Cumberland Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Bill Van Meter officiating. Burial at Caulksville City cemetery under the direction of Smith Mortuary Inc. of Charleston.
She was preceded in death by her husband, the late James Paul Combs, and a son, Wesley Allen “Bud” Combs.
She is survived by a daughter, Rebecca Ann Cantrell of Caulksville; two sons, Donald Paul Combs of Central City and Leon “Red” Combs of Caulksville; two sisters, Lucille Layman of Graham, Texas, and Juanita Lorene Powell of Ratcliff; three brothers, Marvin Owen Hill of Seneca, S.C., Dwight Malcolm Hill of Logansport, La., and Carl Lindell Hill of Caulksville; seven grandchildren, Danny Earl Combs, James Paul Combs, both of Central City, Shane Paul Cantrell of Caulksville, Pauletta Ann Schoen and Tonya Wayne Fagan, both of Central City, Shannon Lynn Martinez of North Richland Hills, Texas, and Josie Marie Garner of Fort Smith; eight great-grandchildren, Janna Hunter Cox of Greenwood, Dawn Moore of Mountainburg, Bobby Don Castillo, stationed with the Army in Baghdad, Iraq, Parker Henry of Fort Smith, John, Nathan and Alisha Combs, all of Ozark, Taylor Franklin Hunt of North Richland Hills, Texas; and two great-great-grandchildren, Macie and Melanie Cox, both of Greenwood.
Pallbearers will be Francis Frederick, Bud Turk, Steve Moody, Bud Organ, Charles Cagle, James Sprick, Steve Hertlein and Michael Beeton.
Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Mainer, Billy Allen Skeets, Paul Watson, Donnie Anderson, and her caregivers, Norma Brown, Sally Jones, Anna, Stephanie and Betheny Poe.
Memorial contributions may be made to Caulksville Cumberland Presbyterian Church or American Heart Association.

Willis Lee Crowder
Willis Lee Crowder, 69, of Van Buren died Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2003, in his home. He was born Aug. 5, 1934, in Van Buren, retired employee of Budget Tire and Supply, attended Maple Shade Church of the Nazarene in Alma, a former Teamster and shop steward in Santa Ana, Calif., a businessman and former owner of Donut Chef in Van Buren .
Funeral will be 1 p.m. today at Woodlawn Memorial Park Chapel with burial at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Fort Smith under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, LaRue of the home; a daughter, Kristen Harding and husband, Alvis Dale of Little Rock; two sons, Terry Crowder and wife, Carolyn of Oklahoma City and Michael Crowder and wife, Marsha of Fort Smith; and one grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie Miller, Jesse I. Miller, Burl Crowder, Lonnie Dickens, Bufford Baker and Bill Terry.

Myrtle Parks
Myrtle Parks, 71, of Van Buren entered into rest Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2003, in a local hospital. She was born June 14, 1932, in Alix, the daughter of the late Clara and Elmer Roberts of Fort Smith. She was retired from the Van Buren School District. Myrtle is survived by her husband, George of the home; five children, Rosemarie and son-in-law, Jack Knight of Van Buren, Joyce Moses of Rudy, George Parks Jr. of Van Buren, Donald Parks and daughter-in-law, Billie of Van Buren and Ronald Parks and daughter-in-law, Carol of Fort Hood, Texas; 13 grandchildren, Angela Mayfield, Deanna Belt, Tracy Koleszar, Kenny Cox Jr., Amanda Brass, Carl Parks, Melissa McCowan, George, Barbara, Sasha, Cory, Ryan and Aleshia Parks; eight great-grandchildren, Amanda Mayfield, J.D. Bailey, Ethan Belt, Evon and Alex Koleszar, Cody Cox, Justice Arter and Dylan McCown; one sister, Shirley Dalton of Van Buren; two brothers, T.J. Roberts of Fort Smith and Jimmy Roberts of Oklahoma City.
Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, 2003, at the Second Baptist Church on Arkansas Street in Van Buren with burial at Hall cemetery in Natural Dam.
Pallbearers will be Robert and Garland Simmons, Bill Koleszar, Jim Chastain, Randy Belt and Lin Mayfield. Honorary pallbearers will be David Mayfield, Donald Teegardin and Ronny Smith.
Family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. today at Lewis Funeral Chapel, Fort Smith. The family would like to express a special Thanks to Select Specialty Hospital nurses and staff. Arrangements under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel, Fort Smith.

Nora Adell Ward
Nora Adell Ward, 73, of Fort Smith passed from this life to with the Lord Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2003, in her home. She was a devoted wife, wonderful homemaker and beloved mother and grandmother. Her last moments on earth were shared with her husband, children and surviving sisters by her side. She was born Oct. 24, 1929, in Magazine. Nora is survived by her husband, Odell “Bud” Ward; two sons, Ray Ward and Mike Ward, both of Fort Smith; four daughters, Betty Teague of Alma, Linda Wilkinson of Mulberry, Shirley Bruner of Mesquite, Texas, and Romona Buergler of Fort Smith; two sisters, Virgie Romero of San Leandro, Calif., and Johnnie Sue McClure of Charleston; 13 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Bill and Roy Barnes.
Funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, 2003, at Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Fort Smith.
The family will visit with friends and relatives from 6 to 7 p.m. at Lewis Funeral Chapel.
Pallbearers will be Steve and Randy Rauser, James and Eric Albertson, Tommy and Nelson Mays.

Carl Edward Wilson Jr.
Carl Edward Wilson Jr., 52, of Roland died Monday, Sept. 8, 2003, in Sallisaw. He was a member of Roland Hills Baptist Church and a civil service worker at Fort Chaffee. He was preceded in death by his father, Carl E. Wilson Sr.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Roland Hills Baptist Church in Roland with burial at Roland City cemetery under the direction of Fentress Mortuary of Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Cindy Wilson; three daughters, Jessica Wilson, Haylie Wilson and Tawnya Wilson, all of Roland; two stepdaughters, Shannon Foster of California and Kylie Hurst of Las Vegas; two stepsons, Steven Foster of California and Garrett Hurst of Roland. He is also survived by his mother, Jeannine Wilson of Roland; two sisters, Portia Ramey and her husband, Junior of Muldrow and Vickie Cherry and her husband, Jim of Muldrow; and one grandson, Tyler Jenson of Van Buren; several aunts, uncles and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Ray Redden, Larry Ramey, Robert Ramey, Lee Massey, David Stults and Garrett Hurst.
Honorary pallbearers will be Tawyna Wilson, Haylie Wilson, Jessica Wilson and Kenny Cole.
