Morris Norman
Morris J. Norman, 84, of Fort Smith died Thursday, Nov. 13, 2003, in a local hospital. He was born June 19, 1919, in Water Proof, Miss. He was the retired founder of Norman Co. and former owner of the Circle N Ranch.
Memorial service will be 2 p.m. today at Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith.
He is survived by his friend, Eva Cameron; a daughter, Ann Ridener of Fort Smith; a son, Howard Norman of Fort Smith; and five grandchildren.

Mozell Willis Jr.
Mozell Willis Jr., 82, of Fort Smith died Thursday, Nov. 13, 2003, in his home. He was a member of Greater Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church, an Army veteran of World War II and a retired employee of the Fort Smith School System.
Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Ninth Street Missionary Baptist Church with burial at the U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Rowell-Parish Mortuary of Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Annie; two daughters, Donna Burnett of Milledgeville, Ga., and Charlotte McCurtain of Fort Smith; two sons, Dennis Willis of Fort Smith and Gregory Willis of Denver; a sister, Billie Edwards of Sacramento, Calif.; a brother, George Willis Sr. of Fort Smith; 10 grandchildren, 10 step-grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 16 step-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be George Willis Jr., Dennis Willis Sr., Dennis Willis Jr., Gregg and Eric Williams and E.J. McCurtain.
The family will visit with friends at 3315 N. Q St.
Junior Willhite
SPIRO — Junior J. Willhite, 76, of Spiro died in Sanger, Calif. He served as a 
military policeman in the Philippines during World War II and was past president of the Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 1147 in Sanger.
Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Fraternal Order of Eagles Hall in Spiro under the direction of Mallory Funeral Home of Spiro.
He is survived by the mother of his children, Eva Willhite; four daughters, Donna Silva of Sanger, Delores Martin and Debra Clark, both of Spiro, and Doris Willbanks of Fort Smith; a son, Charles Willhite of Oklahoma; two sisters, Edna Cost of Aetna, Calif., and Shirley Edwards of Fenton, Mich.; a brother, J.W. Willhite of Grand Blanc, Mich.; nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Homer Brown
CONWAY — Homer Bradley Brown, 80, of Conway died Saturday, Nov. 15, 2003, in Little Rock. He was born Jan. 30, 1923, in Franklin County. He was a retired meat cutter.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Smith Mortuary Chapel in Charleston with burial at Oak Valley cemetery south of Lavaca.
He is survived by his wife, Leona; two sons, Larry and Stanley Brown, both of Conway; two sisters, Ruby Fisher of Fort Smith and Lou Helms of Lavaca; two brothers, Leon and Neal Brown, both of Lavaca; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be nephews.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Fonda Sharp
CECIL — Fonda Sharp, 85, of Cecil died Sunday, Nov. 16, 2003, in Pocola. She was born Feb. 19, 1918, in Cecil.
Graveside service will be 4 p.m. Tuesday at Eubanks cemetery west of Cecil under the direction of Smith Mortuary of Charleston.
She is survived by a daughter, Sandra Beltvan of Las Vegas; a son, Melvin Sharp of Pocola; a sister, Rea Lux of Fort Smith; a brother, Wendall Bumpers of Cecil; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Raymond Fowler
ROLAND — Raymond Clayton Fowler, 82, of Roland died Sunday, Nov. 16, 2003, in a Fort Smith hospital. He was born June 23, 1921, in Fort Smith. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Roland, a World War II veteran, a member of Muldrow VFW and a retired industrial parts salesman for Boal Foundry and Allied Bearing.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church of Roland with burial at Woodlawn Memorial Park on Stateline Road under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Velma Daniel-Fowler; two daughters, Sylvia Kerley of Kenosha, Wis., and Beverly Fowler of Louisville, Ky.; two sons, Wayne Fowler of Fort Smith and Alan Fowler of Gulfport, Miss.; four stepsons, Gene, Terry, Shannon and Ben Daniel; five grandchildren, 11 step-grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Rocky Wood Jr., Stoney Wood, Jeff Beaty, Robert Carey, Mike Richards and Leopaldo Garcia.
The body may be viewed and the family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Florence Thompson
Florence Thompson, 89, of Fort Smith entered into rest Friday, Nov. 14, 2003, in a Fort Smith hospital. She was born Feb. 1, 1914, in Palatka, the daughter of Aziel and Florence Verdier. Florence was a retired cook for Larry McShane Restaurant and a member of First Baptist Church in Fort Smith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert Thompson; daughter Opal Anne Robinson; and grandson Gary Robinson. She is survived by two sons, William Newton Thompson of Forsythe, Ga., and Jack Floyd Thompson of Fort Smith; five grandchildren, Kathryn and Karen Robinson, both of Fort Smith, Sherryl Robinson of Fayetteville, Mark Thompson of Atlanta and Christie Edwards of Macon, Ga.; and five great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Conway First Baptist Church in Conway, Mo., with burial at Conway cemetery under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Fort Smith. Pallbearers will be Larry McShane, Jack and Larry Brown, John Bohanon, Rick Cook and Floyd Twyman. Honorary pallbearers will be Carl and Bill Brown, Danny McBride and Bob Pollard. Barbara Young
POTEAU — Barbara T. Young, 95, of Poteau died Saturday, Nov. 29, 2003, in Poteau. She was born Sept. 12, 1908, in Tokyo. She graduated from the University of Missouri and was a professor at the William-Woods College. The last 33 years of her career she worked as the secretary for the Presbyterian Church in Neosho, Mo. She lived in Neosho until she moved to Poteau in 1997. She was the widow of Charles R. Young.
Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Friday at Neosho 100F cemetery in Neosho under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.
She is survived by a daughter, Denise Russell of Poteau; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
LaDonna Mirra
PENSACOLA, Fla. — LaDonna Sue Mirra, 64, of Pensacola, Fla., died Saturday, Nov. 29, 2003, in Pensacola. She was born Sept. 8, 1939.
Graveside service will be noon Thursday at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Fort Smith under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
She is survived by her husband, Vincent F. Mirra; two sons, Frederick Mirra and Arturo Mirra II; and two grandchildren.
The family will visit with friends from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Jack King
Jack Hammond King, 73, of Pocola died Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2003, in Fort Smith. He was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Fort Smith, was a mechanical engineer for Whirlpool and graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. He served in the
Korean War as an Army sergeant. He was the widower of Christine King.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Fentress Mortuary Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at the U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith.
He is survived by a daughter, Rena Littleton of Pocola; a son, Bobby King of Pocola; two sisters, Rose Cox of Pasadena, Calif., and Betty Cunningham of Calistoga, Calif.; a brother, Harry King, of Columbus, Kan.; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Michael Littleton, Dennis Kennedy, Cass Moquett, Cecil Hicks, J.L. Hoskins and Rocky Fletcher.

Max Stout
BOONEVILLE — Max Elwood Stout, 63, died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2003, at his home in Booneville. He was a heavy equipment operator and a member of the Pentecostal faith.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Roberts Memorial Chapel with burial at Oak Hill cemetery in Booneville under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home.
He is survived by his wife, Juanita Evelyn Stout; three daughters, Brenda Myers of Tomahawk, Colo., Staci Leach of the home, and Katherine Stout of Booneville; a son, Scott McKee of Tennesee; a sister, Mary Lou German of Buena Vista, Colo.; two brothers, Thomas Stout of Arizona and Bobby Stout of Buena Vista; and 12 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Max Mott, James Mott, Dan Smith, Roy Achterburg, Cody Leach and Mike Leach.
Gladys Sturgeon
WALDRON — Gladys I. Sturgeon, 79, of Waldron died Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2003, in Waldron. She was a charter member of Faith Lutheran Church in Albuquerque, N.M., and the widow of Maurice Sturgeon.
Memorial service will be 7 p.m. Tuesday at Waldron United Methodist Church in Waldron under the direction of Fentress Mortuary of Fort Smith.
She is survived by two daughters, Diane Miller of Waldron and Linda Auld of Germany; a son, Bobby Sturgeon of Johnson City, Texas; two sisters, Geneva Funderburke of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Bonnie Gange of Albuquerque; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Pauline Ross
VIAN — Pauline Martin Ross, 70, of Vian died Saturday, Nov. 29, 2003 in Vian. She was a homemaker and former nurse in the obstetrics/gynecology department at St. Edward Mercy Medical Center and for Doctors Pointer, Mitchell and Gedosh. She retired after 29 years as the school nurse in Vian schools. She was a member of the Vian Baptist Church, a 1950 graduate of Vian High School and a 1954 graduate of the St. Edward Mercy nursing school.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Vian Baptist Church with burial at Garden of Memories cemetery in Vian under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Sallisaw.
She is survived by her husband, Bernard Ross; two daughters, Debra Anderson and Jimmie Lou Eubanks, both of Vian; a son, James Martin of Vian; her mother; Mary Hunt of Stockton, Calif.; three sisters, Lou Mattox and Annice Reynolds, both of Sallisaw, and Billie McBride of Tulsa; a brother, Warner Merriott of Stocton; and six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Heath Eubanks, Lance Ross, Michael Anderson, Brandon Tyler, Jason Israel, Kenny Anderson and K.C. Eubanks.

MAPLE, Okla. — Jack Randolph, 80, of Maple, Okla., died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2003, in Fort Smith. He was a former school principal for 31 years, with 22 years at Muldrow, and he taught at Mineral Springs and Moffett. He was a member of Maple Freewill Baptist Church and an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Maple Freewill Baptist Church with burial at Maple cemetery, northeast of Sallisaw under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Sallisaw.
He is survived by his wife Colleen Randolph; a daughter, Jean Fair of Maple; a son, Tommy Randolph of Maple; a sister, Emma Phillips of Sallisaw; a brother, Faye Randolph of Sallisaw; and eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons-in-law and a grandson: Aaron Ledesma, Ty Kilinc, Jeff Petree, Eldon Wagner, Frank Tibbitts, John Bradbury and Bryant Fair.
Jewell Brown
MENA — Jewell W. “Penny” Brown, 88, of Mena, died Friday, Nov. 28, 2003, in Mena. She was born May 11, 1915, in Old Dallas. She was the owner of B&B Cleaners in Mena and a member of the First Christian Church in Mena.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. today in the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Pinecrest Memorial Park.
Survivors include her husband, R.C. “Bud” Brown; a daughter, Barbara Dover of Little Rock; and two grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Tom Earhart, Gene Varnell, Warren Schaffer, Joe Downs, Dick Hansen and John House.
Kent Miller
KINTA, Okla. — Kent Miller, 80, of Kinta died Saturday, Nov. 29, 2003 in Quinton, Okla. He was retired from an iron manufacturing plant.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at Mallory Funeral Home in Stigler with burial at Lewisville cemetery in Kinta.
He is survived by his wife, Esther; a son, Kent Miller Jr. of California; and a brother, Frank Miller of Lewisville, Okla.
