Billy Rainwater
WATERTOWN, N.Y. — Billy J. Rainwater, 70, of Watertown, N.Y., died Friday, Nov. 28, 2003. He was born Oct. 4, 1933, in Fort Smith. He attended Fort Smith schools and received a bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Arkansas. He worked for Kimmons Junior High School in Fort Smith. He held the rank of major in the Air National Guard, and was a member of Tri County Church of Christ in Calcium, N.Y.
Calling hours will be 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. today at Cleveland Funeral Home in Watertown, N.Y., with funeral service to follow at 10:30 a.m. with burial at Brookside cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Linda; two sons, William of Watertown, N.Y., and Brian of Riverview, Fla.; a sister, Flo Chism of Roanoke, Texas; a brother, Gerald Rainwater of Little Rock; and two grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be to charity of donor’s choice.

Jane Chaney
SALLISAW — Jane Ruth Chaney, 56, of Sallisaw died Thursday, Nov. 27, 2003, in Sallisaw. She was born Nov. 18, 1947, in Hughes, Ark. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Agent Funeral Home Chapel in Sallisaw with burial at Akins cemetery northeast of Sallisaw.
She is survived by her husband, Ray; two daughters, Bonita Dunn of Dunmar, Ky., and Lisa Gallagher of Muldrow; three sons, Kevin Dukes of Sallisaw, Steve Page of Huntsville, Ala., and Mark Page of Oklahoma City; two stepdaughters, Randene Griffith of Idaho and Teresa Chaney of Spokane, Wash.; six stepsons, James, David and Raymond Chaney Jr., all of Spokane, Wash., Charles, Frank and Robert Chaney, all of Sallisaw; five sisters, Margie Kirby of Tampa, Fla., Geraldine Honey, Jean Arthur, Anita Evans and Shirley Gartrell, all of Van Buren; three brothers, Bobby Graves of Dyer, James Graves of Indiana and Charles Graves of Plant City, Fla.; and 15 grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Johnny Gallagher, David, Charles and Robert Chaney, Frank Chaney and Frank Chaney Jr.
The body may be viewed 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Wilda Wayne
PANAMA — Wilda I. Wayne, 88, of Panama died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2003, in Spiro. She a member of First Baptist Church in Panama and the widow of James Wayne.
Graveside service was held Monday at Green Hill cemetery in Cameron under the direction of Mallory Funeral Home of Spiro.
She is survived by a sister, DeAne Grant of Sacramento, Calif.

Brenda Fisk
POTEAU — Brenda Jean Fisk, 51, of Poteau died Friday, Nov. 28, 2003, in Fort Smith. She was born Nov. 25, 1952, in Fairland, Okla. She was of the Baptist faith.
No services are planned at this time. Cremation services are under the direction of Grace Manor Funeral Home of Poteau.
She is survived by her husband, Edward; a son, Jeffrey Price of Poteau; her parents, Arthur and Virginia Conner of Miami, Okla.; a sister, Rhonda Parsons of Derby, Kan.; and a brother, DeWayne Conner of Eureka Springs.

Vera Guinn
MENA — Vera Alean Guinn, 65, of Mena died Friday, Nov. 28, 2003, in a Little Rock hospital. She was born May 18, 1938, in Mena. She was a pastor’s wife in local Baptist churches, a Sunday school teacher and active in Women’s Missionary Union and an employee of Acorn School District for 15 years and a homemaker.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Concord Baptist Church with burial at Concord cemetery under the direction of Hall Funeral Service of Mena.
She is survived by her husband, the Rev. Douglas Guinn; two daughters, Alice Guinn Womack of Mountain Pine and Lila Green of Benton; a son, Michael Guinn of Mena; two sisters, Violet Posey-Cox of Cassville, Mo. and Verlon Davis of Hatfield; a brother, L.J. Posey of Mena; and four grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Kerry Cox, Rusty Davis, Jason, Josh and Jerod Posey and Nicholas Guinn.
Memorial contributions may be made to Gideons International for bibles.

Helen Lewis
MENA — Helen J. Lewis, 79, of Mena died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2003, in Mena. She was born Nov. 28, 1924, in Mena. She was a seamstress for Revova Shirt Factory, was a member of First Baptist Church in Mena, the Home Demonstration Clubs and a homemaker.
The body was sent for cremation under the direction of Beasley-Wood Funeral Home of Mena. A memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Carroll; two sons, Ron Lewis of Cooper, Texas, and Gerald Lewis of Longview, Texas; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Arel Fox Jr.
PANAMA — Arel L. “Butch” Fox Jr., 60, of Panama died Monday, Dec. 1, 2003, in a Fort Smith hospital. He was born April 26, 1943, in Fort Smith. He was an oilfield supply warehouse manager.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Panama First Assembly of God with burial at Shady Point cemetery under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.
He is survived by his wife, Andrea; a son, Aaron Fox of Cypress, Calif.; a stepson, Frank Murray of San Juan Capistrano, Calif.; his parents, Arel and Margie Fox of Panama; two brothers, Earl Fox of Tulsa and Roy Fox of Panama.
Pallbearers will be his uncles and cousins, Wesley, Thiral, Doyle, Johnny, Bobby and Don Martin.

Kevin Hurley
Kevin Hurley, 36, of Van Buren, formerly of Charleston, died Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2003 in Van Buren. He was born April 18, 1967, in Ozark. He was a member of Free Will Baptist Church and was in maintenance at Kay Rodgers Park in Fort Smith.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Smith Mortuary Chapel in Charleston with burial at Steephill cemetery in south Fort Smith.
He is survived by his fiancee, Ronda Lingo of Van Buren; two sons, Joey Hurley of Greenwood and Mathugh Hurley of Branch; a stepdaughter, Mechelle Fondren of Van Buren; a stepson, Charles Fondren of the home; his parents, Orval and Margaret Hurley of Charleston; two sisters, Melinda Sosebee and Trina Scarbrough, both of Charleston; his grandparent, Edna Ethridge of Charleston; and two stepgrandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Bill North, George Simmons, Mark McLarkey, Dennis Abby, Johnny Carlile and Clyde Lingo.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Cumile Campbell
POTEAU — Cumile Campbell, 75, of Poteau died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2003, in Poteau. She was born Feb. 17, 1928, in Big Laurel, Ky. She was a homemaker and a member of First Assembly of God.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Greenhill cemetery in Cameron under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.
She is survived by her husband, Elvin; four sons, Alfred Campbell of Waldron, Stone Campbell of Longview, Texas, Winston Cagle of Poteau and Harvey Cagle of Poteau; three sisters, Grace Huff of Russell Springs, Kan., Belva Bayles and Pauline Edington, both of Fairborn, Ohio; two brothers, Henry and Will Miniard, both of Big Laurel, Ky.; 10 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

Brenda Roberts
Brenda Darlene Roberts, 42, of Van Buren died Saturday, Nov. 29, 2003, in a local hospital. She was a manager at Hardees Restaurant in Fort Smith and worked at Waffle House in Fort Smith and Van Buren.
Graveside service will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Mount McCurry cemetery in Rudy under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.
She is survived by a daughter, Angel Cunningham of Denham Spring, La.; five sons, Dennis and Bobby Mott Jr., both of Fort Smith, Keith Mott of Kibler, Shawn and Scott Tabor, both of Rudy; her parents, Chet Roberts of Rudy and Betty McCurdy of Fort Smith; three brothers, Larry Gregory of Rudy, Charlie McCurdy of Van Buren, and Kevin Roberts of Springdale; and two grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Tony Roberts, Jeff Mullins, Mike and Marvin Jones, Roy Foster, Brandon Duckworth and Brad Taylor.
The body may be viewed until 1 p.m. Wednesday.
The family will visit with friends from 7 to 9 p.m., today at the funeral home.

Leonard McGinnis
LAVACA — Leonard “Jabo” McGinnis, 91, of Lavaca, formerly of Amarillo, Texas, died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2003, in Lavaca. He was a retired truck driver for Amarillo Hardware in Amarillo, Texas, and a veteran of the Army. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth McGinnis.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. today at Llano cemetery in Amarillo under the direction of Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors Martin Road Chapel in Amarillo, Texas. Local arrangements are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Alice; a daughter, Linda King of Lavaca; and two grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors Martin Road Chapel in Amarillo, Texas.

Margaret Thomas
Margaret Thomas, 79, of Fort Smith died Monday, Dec. 1, 2003, in her home. She was born July 27, 1924, in Price, Utah. She was a bakery owner.
Burial of cremains will be at Rose Hill cemetery in California under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Fort Smith.
She is survived by a daughter, Stephanie Hendrix of Fort Smith; two sons, Craig Thomas of Los Alamitos, Calif., and Travis Thomas of Las Vegas; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Memorial contributions may be made to Peachtree Hospice, 4300 Rogers Ave., Fort Smith, AR 72901.

Alta Walker
Alta Lee Walker, 73, of Fort Smith died Thursday, Nov. 27, 2003, in Fort Smith.
Funeral will be noon Wednesday at Woodlawn Chapel with burial at Woodlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Fentress Mortuary of Fort Smith.
She is survived by two daughters, Louise Marquess and Christi Ulrick, both of Fort Smith; three sons, Larry and Jimmy Cureton, and Mason Walls, all of Fort Smith; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Lloyd Self
MENA — Lloyd Leon “Woody” Self, 54, of Mena died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2003, in Little Rock. He was born July 6, 1949, in Mena. He was a truck driver and the owner of Woody’s Auto Sales in Mena, was a member of Cannanland Church in Mena, and a veteran of Arkansas National Guard.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Beasely-Wood Funeral Home Chapel in Mena with burial at Pinecrest Memorial Park.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth; a daughter, Renee Veal of Mena; two sons, Harold and Allen Loving, both of Mena; a sister, Johnnie Edwards of Zafra, Okla.; a brother, David Knighten of Mena; five grandchildren; and the mother of his children, Jean Gordon of Hatfield.
Pallbearers will be Mike Oglesby, Brent Shrader, Duane Gandy, Bobby Copelin, Orvin Foster and Stanley Stinson.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Eva Wickham
OKMULGEE, Okla. — Eva Jean Wickham, 74, of Okmulgee, Okla., formerly of Tulsa, died Saturday, Nov. 29, 2003, in Tulsa. She was born Nov. 5, 1929, in Fort Smith. She worked at Petty’s Fine Foods until her retirement. She attended First Baptist Church of Dewar, and the widow of Ronald Wickham.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at McClendon-Winters Funeral Home Chapel in Okmulgee, Okla., with graveside service at 11 a.m. Thursday at Salem cemetery in Cedarville.
She is survived by her children, Marty Morris of Fort Smith, Marsha McCormick of Tulsa, David Ewing of Arizona, and Janet Wilson of Van Buren; a brother, Fred Bowden of Palm Spring, Calif.; and eight grandchildren.
Friends may visit the funeral home from noon to 8 p.m. today.

Ivan Sutter
Ivan C. Sutter, 94, of Fort Smith died Thursday, Nov. 27, 2003, in his home. He was born March 31, 1909, in Bluffton, Ohio. He was a retired construction painter and of the Protestant faith.
A private family burial will be 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Gracelawn cemetery in Van Buren under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Lucille; a daughter, Rogene Maciejack of The Colony, Texas; a son, Jerry Sutter of Bakersfield, Calif.; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
The body may be viewed 8 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday only.
