Ronald Sunderman
HATFIELD — Ronald “Ron” Edward Sunderman, 61, of Hatfield died Monday, Dec. 1, 2003, in a Little Rock hospital. He was born Sept. 5, 1942, in McAllen, Texas. He served in the Army for four years and graduated from the University of Arkansas as a master electrician, working for 20 years. He was an electrical engineer for 35 years and past president of Hardin Jaycees.
Graveside service was held Tuesday at Pleasant Grove cemetery under the direction of Hall Funeral Service of Mena.
He is survived by his wife, Bletta; a daughter, Ronda Epperson of Morris, Okla.; a son, Derek Sunderman of Lawrance, Kan.; his mother and stepfather, Lela and Charlie Aleshire of Cove; two brothers, Dr. Jim Roberts of Fort Worth, Texas, and Gene Aleshire of Octavia; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Arkansas Sheriff’s Youth Ranches.

Lucy Dowden
MUSKOGEE, Okla. — Lucy “Mae” Sleeper Dowden, 86, of Muskogee died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2003, in Muskogee. She was born June 7, 1917, in Alma. She was a homemaker.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Brushy Mountain cemetery under the direction of Lescher-Millsap Funeral Home of Muskogee, Okla.
She is survived by six daughters, Betty Ware of Van Buren, Shirley Jackson of Broken Arrow, Okla., Patsy Smith of Watonga, Okla., Sue Anderson, Victor Best and Rose Smith, all of Muskogee, Okla.; four sons, Derrell Carter of Watonga, Okla., Dale Brown of Denning, James and Dwight Bingham, all of Texas; 31 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren.

Evelyn Moseley
BROOKEN, Okla. — Evelyn Jean Moseley, 75, of Brooken, Okla., died Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2003, in Stigler. She was a homemaker, and a member of Brooken Free Will Baptist Church.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Brooken Free Will Baptist Church with burial at Brooken cemetery under the direction of Mallory Funeral Home of Stigler.
She is survived by a daughter, Darlene Moseley of Venice, Fla.; a son, Mark Moseley of Brooken; three sisters, Virginia Carlton of Sallisaw, Darlene Baker of Tulsa, and Shirley Smith of Brooken; two brothers, Ervin Benson of Brooken and Rowland Benson of Tulsa; two grandchildren; and a companion, Norman Collins of Brooken.

Michael Lovell
Michael Lovell, 52, of Fort Smith died Monday, Dec. 1, 2003, in a local hospital. He was born May 18, 1951, in Fort Smith. He was an electrician for Allen Canning Co. in Alma and a member of Concord Baptist Church in Van Buren.
Memorial service will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Concord Baptist Church, 6105 Alma Highway in Van Buren. Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy; two sons, David of Mountainburg and Stephen of Chester; a brother, Terry Lovell of Fort Smith; and three grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Concord Baptist Church, 6105 Alma Highway, Van Buren, AR 72956.

Virgil Clairday Sr.
VIAN — Virgil Logan Clairday Sr., 82, of Vian died Saturday, Nov. 29, 2003, in Vian. He was born Feb. 18, 1921, in Witt Springs. He was a retired fireman in Beaumont, Texas, and worked in maintenance at Laquinta High School in Laquinta, Calif. He was a Pentecostal.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Blackgum Harvestime Church north of Vian with burial at Box cemetery north of Vian under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Sallisaw.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; a daughter, Connie Johnston of Westminister, Calif.; three sons, Kenneth Clairday of Westminister, Calif., Jerry Clairday of Grand Junction, Colo., and Virgil Clairday Jr. of Delta, Colo.; four stepsons, Rudy Collins of Blackgum Community, Leland Collins of Independence, Mo., Charles Collins of Hesdorf, Germany, and Mark Collins of Decatur, Ala.; two sisters, Connie Tanner of Lumberton, Texas, and Rosemary Kreugar of Toledo, Ohio; eight grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren, five great-grandchildren and eight stepgreat-grandchildren.
The body may be viewed noon to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Kevin Hurley
Kevin Hurley, 36, of Van Buren, formerly of Charleston, died Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2003 in Van Buren. He was born April 18, 1967, in Ozark. He was a member of Free Will Baptist Church and was in maintenance at Kay Rodgers Park in Fort Smith.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Smith Mortuary Chapel in Charleston with burial at Steephill cemetery in south Fort Smith.
He is survived by his fiancee, Ronda Lingo of Van Buren; two sons, Joey Hurley of Greenwood and Mathugh Hurley of Branch; a stepdaughter, Mechelle Fondren of Van Buren; a stepson, Charles Fondren of the home; his parents, Orval and Margaret Hurley of Charleston; two sisters, Melinda Sosebee and Trina Scarbrough, both of Charleston; a brother, Randy Hurley of Fort Smith; his grandmother, Edna Ethridge of Charleston; and two stepgrandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Bill North, George Simmons, Mark McLarkey, Dennis Abby, Johnny Carlile and Clyde Lingo.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Kevin Hurley, c/o Simmons First National Bank in Charleston.

Pauline Deeds
RUSSELLVILLE — Pauline Deeds, 88, of Russellville died Monday, Dec. 1, 2003. She was a homemaker, was a member of Faith Church in Dardanelle and the widow of Marion Deeds.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Faith Church in Dardanelle with burial at Graves cemetery in Delaware under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home of Clarksville.
She is survived by four daughters, Nellie Griffith and Rebecca Williams, both of Russellville, Betty Harper of Dardanelle, and Mary Wise of Casa; four sons, Danny, James and Lonnie Deeds, all of Russellville, and Frankie Deeds of Pottsville; 26 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Frankie Deeds, Danny Robertson, Danny E. Deeds, Frankie W. Deeds, Gary Newman and Danny W. Deeds.

Claudetta Fuller
HARTFORD — Claudetta Fuller, 62, of Hartford died Monday, Dec. 1, 2003, in Huntington. She was a homemaker, was a member of Faith Chapel in Hartford and the widow of Robert Fuller.
Funeral will be noon Friday at Faith Chapel in Hartford with burial at U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood.
She is survived by a daughter, Jennifer Buccella of Greenwood; two sons, Randy Fuller of Hartford and Tim Fuller of Van Buren; her mother, Imogene Thompson of Dexter, Mo.; four brothers, Gilbert and Jerry Thompson, both of Dexter, Mo., Duke Thompson of Possum Grape and William Thompson of Rockford, Ill.; and five grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Richie Brassfield, Stan Jenkins, Tommy Johnson, Hap Pitchford, Lonnie Sudbury and Joey Moore.
The body may be viewed 1 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home in Hartford.

Ida Link, 81, of Fort Smith died Monday, Dec. 1, 2003, in Fort Smith. She was a member of Grand Avenue Baptist Church in Fort Smith. She was a cashier in the business office at Sparks Hospital in Fort Smith.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Fentress Mortuary of Fort Smith.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry; a daughter, Sue Baldwin of Fort Smith; a brother, Clifford Clegg Jr. of Fort Smith; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
The family will visit with friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Donald Glynn
FRANKFORT, Kan. — Donald Glynn, 85, of Frankfort, Kan., died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2003, in his home. He was born Sept. 2, 1918, in Emmett, Kan. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II in Natal, Brazil, worked with his brothers at Glynn’s Grocery in Frankfort for 28 years, the Clawson family in Frankfort and was a Topeka Capital-Jouranl carrier for 15 years.
Rosary will be 7 p.m. today at Annunciation Catholic Church in Frankfort.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Annunciation Catholic Church with burial at Mount Calvary cemetery under the direction of Padden Funeral Chapel in Frankfort, Kan.
He is survived by his wife, Marjorie; two daughters, Judy Glynn of Powhattan, Va. and Janet Horton of Fort Smith; two sons, Jim of Prairie Village and Jerry of Fort Smith; two sisters, Sister of Charity, Rita Glynn of Cincinnati and Patty Painter of Bethesda, Md.; five grandchildren and five stepgrandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Chuck Wendling, Charles Broxterman, Bob Stallbaumer, Paul Holenbeck, Craig Morton, Steve Gleason and Jerry Stowell.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Meadowlake Hospice in care of the funeral home.

Cindy Reed
Cindy Reed, 45, of Fort Smith died Monday, Dec. 1, 2003, in a Fort Smith hospital. She was a caregiver.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at Fairview cemetery in Van Buren.
She is survived by her husband, Michael; three sons, Jason, Joseph and Justin Odom, all of Van Buren; her father, Virgil Lyles of Fort Smith; six sisters, Christie Silva and Carolyn Clark, both of Tulare, Calif., Cathy Maples of Vacaville, Calif., Charlotte Ellison and Crystal Tucker, both of Kibler, and Cora Thibodeaux of Short; five brothers, Christopher Tucker of Idaho, Curtis Tucker of Beau Ridge, La., Ray Tucker of Van Buren, George and Virgil Lyles, both of Fort Smith; and two grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Rocky Kosier, Jason Buckner, Avon, Brandon and Christopher Thibodeaux and Michael Reed.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Leon Sparks Sr.
Leon J. Sparks Sr., 88, of Fort Smith died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2003, in Fort Smith. He was retired from the Carpenters Union No. 71 after 50 years as a construction superintendent. He was a manager of Olympic Health Club for 18 years and a lifelong member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Fort Smith.
Mass will be 11 a.m. today at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Fort Smith with burial at Holy Cross cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Fentress Mortuary of Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth; two sons, Leon Sparks Jr. of Fort Smith and Paul Sparks of Fort Smith; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Steve Burton, Ben Etzkorn, Jimmy Newman, Harry Schwartz, Lewis Sparks Jr., Harold Yandell and Dick Spears.
Memorial contributions may be made to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 22 N. 13th St., Fort Smith, AR 72901.

Carl Patterson
Carl W. Patterson, 88, of Fort Smith died Monday, Dec. 1, 2003, in his home. He was retired owner and operator of Patterson Motor Co. He was an Army veteran of World War II receiving three Bronze Stars serving in France and Germany, was a Mason, and a member of Goddard United Methodist Church.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Putman Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith.
He is survived by a daughter, Jane Lepak of Oklahoma City; a sister, Irene Norman of Springdale; eight grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Danny, David, Chris, Jeremy, Corbin Theisen, Dain and Chase Wise and Vince Lepak.

Leona Dickerson
BOONEVILLE — Leona Ruby Ault Dickerson, 89, of Booneville died Monday, Dec. 1, 2003, in Booneville. She was a bookkeeper and a member of Center Hill Baptist Church.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Friday at New Kirk cemetery in Jessieville under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home of Booneville.
She is survived by two sisters, Madge Glasgow of Booneville and Willie Pearce of Hot Springs; two brothers, Lee Ault of Buckville and Zeulen Ault of Hot Springs.

Jeremy Townsend
Jeremy Townsend, 27, of Fort Smith died Thursday, Nov. 27, 2003, in his home. He was born March 5, 1976, in Tulsa. He was an employee of the Outback and of the Baptist faith.
Memorial service will be noon Thursday at Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith.
He is survived by his parents, Jackie and Tonye Townsend of Fort Smith; a brother, Jason Townsend of Tulsa; maternal grandmother, Winnie Mullanax of Colorado Springs, Colo.
