Brenda Roberts
Brenda Darlene Roberts, 42, of Van Buren died Saturday, Nov. 29, 2003, in a local hospital. She was a manager at Hardees Restaurant in Fort Smith and worked at Waffle House in Fort Smith and Van Buren.
Graveside service will be 3 p.m. today at Mount McCurry cemetery in Rudy under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.
She is survived by a daughter, Angel Cunningham of Denham Spring, La.; five sons, Dennis and Bobby Mott Jr., both of Fort Smith, Keith Mott of Kibler, Shawn and Scott Tabor, both of Rudy; her parents, Chet Roberts of Rudy and Betty McCurdy of Fort Smith; five sisters, Barbara Noel, Debbie Taylor, Tina Jones and Joyce Roberts, all of northwest Arkansas, and Trixie Diamond of California; three brothers, Larry Gregory of Rudy, Charlie McCurdy of Van Buren, and Kevin Roberts of Springdale; and two grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Tony Roberts, Jeff Mullins, Mike and Marvin Jones, Roy Foster, Brandon Duckworth and Brad Taylor.
The body may be viewed until 1 p.m. today.

Douglas Bottoms
Douglas Wayne Bottoms, 44, of Fort Smith died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2003, in Fort Smith. He was a truck driver.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Roberts Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Booneville with burial at Oak Hill cemetery in Booneville.
He is survived by two daughters, Misty Miller of the home and Milissa Campbell of Booneville; his father, Burl Bottoms of Fort Smith; his mother, Betty Bottoms of Fort Smith; a brother, Mitchell Bottoms of Fort Smith; and three grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Billy and Roy Wibbing, Mike Moody, Homer Longley, Dwayne Gandy and Billy Warren.
The family will visit with friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Bonita Kilgore
POCOLA — Bonita J. Kilgore, 56, of Pocola died Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2003, in a local hospital. She was a retired nurse at St. Edward Mercy Medical Center, a member of Church of God Seventh-day, the I Can Cope organization through St. Edward Mercy Medical Center, a member of Pulmonary Hypertension Worldwide web-site, and president of Women’s Association Church of God Seventh-day.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Fort Smith.
She is survived by her husband, Eddie; a daughter, Kimberly Hogan of Pocola; two sons, Eddie and Michael Kilgore, both of Pocola; two sisters, Laura Schlenker of North Dakota and Cheryl Harlan of Oregon; four brothers, Ivan, Keith, Ken and James Harlan, all of California; and one grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Tom Wells, Larry Harris, Gil Walker, Roger Blackwell, Dennis Harris, Richard Cress and Jan Hamilton.
The family will visit with friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Monell Wiggans
Mrs. Monell Wiggans of Harrisonville, Mo., was born Sept. 20, 1929, in Nola, Ark., the daughter of Lonzo Peter Preston and Gertie (Ammons) Wagner. She departed this life Monday, Nov. 24, 2003, at the Crown Care Center, Harrisonville, at the age of 74 years, 2 months and 4 days.
On Aug. 6, 1947, Monell was united in marriage to Thomas Carter in Nola, Ark. Later she was united in marriage on Feb. 12, 1981, to Robert Wiggans in Miami, Okla.
Monell was employed as an assembler for Ennis Printing Company of Ft. Scott, Kan. She was a member of the Church of Christ of Argentine, Kan. Monell had lived in Hot Springs and Waldron, Ark., Ft. Scott and Kansas City, Kan., before moving to Harrisonville in February of 2002.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Tom Carter, on Oct. 7, 1979; her second husband, Robert Wiggans; a stepson, Tony Gene Carter; a stepdaughter, Tomelene Hayes; a brother, Armon Wagner; and a sister, Alene Walkins.
She is survived by a son, Ron G. Carter and his wife, Julie of Harrisonville, Mo.; a daughter, Diane Roberts and her husband, Duke, of New Hope, Ala.; six grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, Willie Wagner of Kansas City, Kan.; two sisters, Elmo Hayes of Turner, Kan., and Winnie Matheson of Waldron, Ark.; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Martin Funeral Home Chapel with interment at Parks cemetery at Nola, Ark., under the direction of Martin Funeral Home of Waldron.

R.F. Cawthorn
R.F. Cawthorn, 73, of Fort Smith, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2003. He was retired vice president of the Scat Division of Arkansas Best Freight after 25 years of service. He was a member of Bluff Avenue Baptist Church and the Masonic Lodge in New Orleans. He was a graduate of Draughons Business College and he was a Navy veteran of the Korean War.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Thompson Cawthorn; and a daughter, Paula Cawthorn Wages.
Survivors include three daughters, Sandra Baldridge of Ellijay, Ga., Debbie Syferd of Savannah, Ga., Karen McIntosh of Salinas, Calif.; one son, Robert F. Cawthorn of Winter Springs, Fla.; two sisters, Louise Fleming of Mineola, Texas, and Eudora Hayden of Little Rock; one brother, Edwin Cawthorn of Hartwell, Ga.; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. today at Edwards Home Chapel with burial at Roselawn cemetery under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
Pallbearers will be Brad Tharp, Larry Ives, Scott Syferd, Michael McIntosh, Dale Thompson and Edwin Cawthorn.
The family will visit with friends prior to the funeral service from 1 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

Clide Andrew “C.A.” Gipson
Clide Andrew “C.A.” Gipson, 65, of Greenwood died Monday, Nov. 24, 2003, in a Fort Smith hospital after a long illness. He was retired from Whirlpool and preceded in death by his two children, Chris and Pam.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. today at McConnell Funeral Home Chapel in Greenwood with burial at Antioch cemetery in Booneville.
He is survived by his wife, Patsy Gipson of the home; and one brother, John Gipson of Washburn.
Pallbearers will be Allen Duckett, George Bell, Larry Glover, Don Lowe, Caroll Turner, Bob LeRue and John McCartney.

James Willis Morris
James Willis Morris, 67, passed away Nov. 26, 2003, at his home in Magazine. He was of the Pentecostal faith, an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a farmer and maintenance worker for Levi Strauss. He loved to hunt and fish.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Morris; father, Dixie Andrew Morris; a brother, Lois Dixie Morris; and a grandson, John Wesley Canada.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the Lakeview Pentecostal Church of God in Booneville with burial at Bluff View cemetery.
He is survived by his mother, Ruby Morris of Booneville; two sons, James E. Morris Sr. of Booneville and Jerry W. Morris Sr. of Magazine; two daughters, Dianne Franklin of Booneville and Carla Sue Pfeiffer of Branch; one brother, David Morris of Booneville; three sisters, Christine Crenshaw of Booneville, Sylvia Kirkpatrick of Fayetteville and Anita Tacker of Ozark; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Roberts Memorial Chapel.

Leo J. Farmer
Leo J. Farmer, Commander (Ret.) United States Navy, a resident of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., died Monday, Nov. 24, 2003, after a brief illness. Cdr. Farmer was born on Aug. 25, 1919, in Hanson, Okla. He married Rebecca Ann Stout on June 5, 1943.
Cdr. Farmer was preceded in death by his wife, Rebecca; and son, Paul Lee Farmer.
Survivors include a son, Leo Walter “Tracy” Farmer III (Judith) of Ridgecrest, Calif.; a daughter, Dixie Lea Farmer of Gainesville, Fla., a brother, James Virgil Farmer (Mary) of Sallisaw, Okla.; and an aunt, uncle, nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff and residents at the Benton House for all their kindness, care and support.
At Cdr. Farmer’s request, there will be no services.
The family suggests flowers be donated to the Benton House, 2000 Principal Drive, Fort Walton Beach, FL, 32547 in Cdr. Farmer’s memory.
Emerald Coast Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Bertha Smith
ARKADELPHIA — Bertha Louise Smith, 77, of Arkadelphia died Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2003, in Little Rock.
She was born Sept. 2, 1926, in the Richwoods community near Arkadelphia. She was a member of Third Street Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Third Street Baptist Church with burial at Richwood cemetery under the direction of Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home of Arkadelphia.
She is survived by three daughters, Joyce Sullivan and Darlene Matlock both of Arkadelphia; Shelia Harrington of Rudy; one son, Benny Smith of Rudy; one sister, Ola Forthman of Arkadelphia; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Luck Stricklin, Darrin Boyette, Dion Boyette, Cole Smith, Beau Boyette and Josh Rogers. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandsons.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Third Street Baptist Church.

Joe Plummer
WALDRON — Joe Plummer, 78, of Waldron died Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2003 in his home. He was a farmer, a decorated Army veteran of World War II, a member of Haw Creek Baptist Church and the widower of Jean Plummer.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at Haw Creek Baptist Church with burial at Sehorn cemetery in Winfield, Ark., under the direction of Martin Funeral Home of Waldron.
He is survived by three daughters, Jolene Epperson and Kristie Lunsford, both of Waldron, and Jeanette Hawkins of Abbott; one sister, Avalene Campbell of Waldron; two brothers, Denver Plummer and Jerrel Plummer, both of Waldron; five grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.
The body may be viewed from 3 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

C.F. Morris
HARTMAN — C.F. Morris, 86, of Hartman died Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2003, in a local hospital. He worked in construction and welding, was a member of the Elks Club in Arizona and was the widower of Ellen G. Cotton Morris.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. today at Oakland cemetery in Clarksville under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home of Clarksville.
He is survived by a daughter, Peggy Whitney of Yuma, Ariz.; a son, Joe Bill Morris of Lowell; four grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Clayton Culver
PORUM, OKLA. — Clayton Culver Jr., 44, of Porum, Okla., died Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2003, in a local hospital.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. today at Porum First Baptist Church with burial at Quinton cemetery in Quinton, Okla., under the direction of King & Shearwood Funeral Home of Stigler.
He is survived by his wife, Janey of Porum, Okla.; four daughters, Nancy Carter, Crystal Foltz, Lacy Harris and Katy Culver; his mother, Betty Culver; his grandmother, Faye Wilkins; a half brother, Leon Culver of Glenpool, Okla.; and four grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Robin Lee Rock, Peter Robertson, Ronnie Murray, Ronnie Holden, Ture Thomas, Ricky Burnett, Leroy Burnett and Jimmy Boyd.

Dale Lovell
PANAMA — Dale Lovell, 72, of Panama died Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2003, in Poteau. He was a member of Pentecostal Church of God in Panama.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. today at Pentecostal Church of God in Panama with burial at Fairview cemetery in Panama under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.
He is survived by his wife, Cynthia; three sons, Roger Lovell, Clinton Lovell and Jerome Lovell, all of Panama; one daughter, Teresa Cotton of Hodgen, Okla.; five sisters, Patsy West, Mildred Easton and Willie Weaver, all of Poteau, Mosselene Parr of Norman, Okla., and Colleen Burton of Spiro; one brother, Doyle Lovell of Poteau; 13 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Bernice Thrash
Bernice Thrash, 68, of Fort Smith died Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2003, in Hartford. She was a homemaker, a Baptist and the widow of E.L. Thrash.
Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Monday at the U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
She is survived by a son, Ronald Lee Rankin of Hartford; a sister, Beatrice Mansell of Fort Smith; and a brother, Vernon Smith of Fort Smith.
The family will visit with friends 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
