Virginia Knighten
MENA — Virginia Knighten, 70, of Mena died Friday, Dec. 20, 2002. She was born March 14, 1932, in Roaring Springs, Texas. She lived in Mena for 20 years and was a housewife and a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Hall Funeral Service Memorial Chapel in Mena with burial at Pinecrest Memoial Park.
She is survived by her husband, David; a daughter, Linda Schulte of Mena; a son, Jimmie Knighten of Mena; two sisters, Naomi Gray of Antlers, Okla., and Janie Self of Heyburn, Idaho; a brother, J.C. Moore of Zafra, Okla.; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Dustin Egger, Clay Knighten, Tim Schulte, Phillip Bunda, Bill Barrett and Glen Pearce.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes. Association or the American Kidney Foundation.

Esther Richardson
GARDEN GROVE, Calif. — Esther Lois Richardson, 96, of Garden Grove, Calif., formerly of Mena, died Sunday, Dec. 15, 2002, in California. She was born March 9, 1906, in Marshfield, Wisc. She moved to Mena in 1957 and relocated to California in 1982. She was a homemaker.
Private graveside service was 10 a.m. Saturday at Pinecrest Memorial Park under the direction of Beasley-Wood Funeral Home in Mena.
She is survived by her sister, Elizabeth “Liz” Gross of Garden Grove.

Suzy Ruark
SALLISAW — Suzy Ruark, 54, of Sallisaw died Thursday, Dec. 19, 2002, in Sallisaw. She was born Aug. 3, 1948, in Fort Smith. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Assembly of God in Sallisaw.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at First Assembly of God in Sallisaw with burial at Dwight Mission cemetery in Sallisaw under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Sallisaw.
She is survived by her husband, Clayton; three sons, Les Ruark of Muskogee, Okla., Greg Ruark of Honduras and Kurt Ruark of Sallisaw; a mother, Mary Ann Lyon of Fort Smith; four brothers, Jim and David Lyon, both of Fort Smith, and John and Clifford Lyon, both of Van Buren; and four grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Jonathon, Joseph, Jeremy, Benjamin, David and Kenneth Lyon.
The body may be viewed from 1 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Joyce Tudor
GREENWOOD — Joyce Tudor, 76, of Greenwood, formerly of Fort Smith, died Friday, Dec. 20, 2002, in a Greenwood nursing home. She was a Pentecostal and a former employee of Sparks Regional Medical Center, working in the laundry.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Monday at Gill cemetery in Van Buren under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
She is survived by three daughters, Jean Parker of Van Buren, Mary Mondier of Fort Smith and Carolyn Walters of Charleston; three sons, William Black of Coinjock, N.C., Roy Black of Panama and Ricky Black of Fort Smith; five sisters, Melba Arnold of Anderson, Calif., Dorothy Hudson of Kibler, Arlene Hartman and Genevie Bell, both of Redding, Calif., and Peggy Bell of Greenwood; five brothers, Sam Brasher of Susanville, Calif., Bill Brasher of Gerber, Calif., Wesley Brasher of Barling, Dan Brasher of Layton, Utah, and Bob Brasher of Medford, Ore.; and several grandchildren.
The family will visit with friends from 2 to 4 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mattie Bolin
MARBLE CITY — Mattie N. Bolin, 87, of Marble City died Friday, Dec. 20, 2002, in Fort Smith. She was of the Baptist faith and a homemaker.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Blunt Baptist Church near Sallisaw with burial at Marble City cemetery under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Sallisaw.
She is survived by her husband, Mitchell Bolin Sr.; a daughter, Alice Swain of Van Buren; two sons, Mitchell Bolin Jr. of Hobart, Okla., and Ramon Bolin of Marble City; four sisters, Rosa Iva Woodard of Lake Isabelle, Calif., Kate Robertson of Dwight Mission, Okla., Katherine Ruminer of Collinsville, Okla., and Jennie Acuff of Tulsa; nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Gary Bolin, Bob and Jerry Ben Robertson, Tony Kirk, Reggie Smith and David Henderson.

M.L. Witter
M.L. Witter, 82, of Fort Smith died Friday, Dec. 20, 2002, in a local hospital. He was a retired Fort Smith fireman and retired from Arkansas Boys Training School in Pine Bluff. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a Baptist.
Cremation with burial at a later date will be under the direction of Putman Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
She is survived by four daughters, Kathryn Awbrey of Barling and Susan Roberts, Janice Radcliff and Nancy Witter, all of Fort Smith; three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Johnny Hall
Johnny M. Hall, 74, of Fort Smith died Thursday, Dec. 19, 2002, in a Fort Smith hospital.
Graveside service was Saturday at Nixon cemetery in Charleston under the direction of Smith Mortuary of Charleston.

Faye DeLong
SPIRO — Faye DeLong, 84, of Spiro died Friday, Dec. 20, 2002, in Fort Smith. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post No. 4884.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at Mallory Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at Fairview cemetery in Panama.
She is survived by a daughter, Deloris Schram of Keota; two grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Doy Wilkins, Larry Tuttle, Charlie Beack, Milo Cagel, Donnie Moss and Jerald Ortlieb.
The body may be viewed at the funeral home.

Delbert Hankins
CALHOUN — Delbert B. Hankins, 76, of Calhoun died Friday, Dec. 20, 2002, in Poteau.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Mallory Funeral Home Chapel in Spiro with burial at Shady Point cemetery in Shady Point.
He is survived by five daughters, Debbie Shackleford and Priscilla Watts, both of Cameron, Connie Blaylock of Shady Point and Dale Darneal and Sandra Hale, both of Panama; three sons, David Hankins of Spiro, George Hankins of Panama and Shawn Hankins of Salem, Ore.; 25 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Brad Darneal, Jason Shackelford, Billy Jack Hankins, Shayne Blaylock, Bee Jay Hale and Tracey Tedder.
The body may be viewed at the funeral home.

Stella Gunn
LAVACA — Stella Gunn, 78, of Lavaca died Thursday, Dec. 19, 2002, in her home. She was retired from Pacific Bell Telephone Co. in Los Angeles and was a member of the Northside Church of Christ in Greenwood and the Lady Lions Club in San Pedro, Calif.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at McConnell Funeral Home Chapel in Greenwood with burial at Hartford Memorial Park in Hartford.
She is survived by her husband, Burley; a daughter, Nancy Sullivan of Lavaca; a son, Burley D. Gunn III of Moreno Valley, Calif.; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Fosnaugh, Steven Held, Brian Gunn, Brad Howard, Dean and Kenneth Dean Barnes and Tommy Rotenberry.
The body may be viewed from 2 to 4 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Mansfield or Hartford Alumni Association Scholarship Fund.

Ray Hoover
ALMA — Ray T. Hoover, 76, of Alma died Saturday, Dec. 21, 2002, in his home. He was a resident of Alma, a Navy veteran of World War II and of the Baptist faith.
Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Monday at Ocker Funeral Home Chapel in Alma. The body will be cremated.
He is survived by his wife, Betty; a daughter, Sandra Mitchell of Alma; three sons, Michael, David and Billy Hoover, all of Alma; a brother, Joe Bill Hoover of Tulsa; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Iris Evans
SALLISAW — Iris Oleta Evans, 76, of Sallisaw died Friday, Dec. 20, 2002, in Fort Smith. She was born May 23, 1926, in Sequoyah County. She was retired from First National Bank of Sallisaw in 1986 after 22 years, and was a member of First Baptist Church of Sallisaw where she was in the choir, sang in the Ladies Ensemble and taught the Iris Evans Sunday school class for adult women.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at Agent Funeral Home Chapel in Sallisaw with burial at Sallisaw City cemetery.
She is survived by three daughters, Kathy Edwards of Coweta, Okla., Barbara Prichard of Oklahoma City and Michelle Marcum of Tulsa; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Darrell and Britt Edwards, Trey Owens, Paul Marcum, Fred Prichard and Gus Fullbright.
The body may be viewed from 1 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Iris Evans Sunday school class of First Baptist Church in Sallisaw.

Oralee Lewis
MULDROW — Oralee Lewis, 83, of Muldrow died Thursday, Dec. 19, 2002, in Fort Smith. She was a homemaker, a former Okla Homer Smith Furniture factory worker and attended First Assembly of God in Muldrow. She was the widow of Hubert Hughes Lewis Sr.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at First Assembly of God in Muldrow with burial at Lee’s Chapel cemetery south of Muldrow under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Muldrow.
She is survived by two daughters, Loy Fern Owens and Barbara Tabor, both of Roland; a son, Kenneth Hughes Lewis of Muldrow; two sisters, Bernice Dunning of Poplar Bluff, Mo., and Christine Horn of Arizona; three brothers, William T. Gilkey of California, Boyd Gilkey of Arizona and Bob Gilkey of Kentucky; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Larry Gilkey, Robert Cotton Lewis, Junior Ramey, Bill Ed Lewis and Tony and Eddie Lewis.
The body may be viewed from 1 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Delma Burns
LEQUIRE — Delma Ruth Burns, 76, of Lequire died Thursday, Dec. 19, 2002, in Red Oak, Okla.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at Mallory Funeral Home Chapel in Stigler with burial at Fort Gibson National cemetery.
She is survived by three sisters, Lois Mae Morris of Chino Valley, Ariz., Dixie Gamblin of Odessa, Mo., and Mary Lou Martin of Blue Springs, Mo.; two brothers, Dewey Sims of Ora Valley, Ariz., and Dorval Sims of Kansas City, Mo.
Pallbearers will be Danny Bradshaw, Denver Bowen, John Martin and Dorval Sims.

Tina Benson
PARIS — Tina Benson, 80, of Paris died Saturday, Dec 21, 2002, in a hospital. She was the widow of Burley Benson.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Murry Funeral Home Chapel in Paris with burial at McKendree cemetery in Subiaco.
She is survived by a daughter, Martha Bradley of Paris; a son, Doyle Benson of Paris; a sister, Mary Doom of Farmington; a brother, Ray Spicer of Texas; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Todd Darning, Chanley Chambers, Ronnie and Jason Bradley and Billy and James Benson.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Paul O’Neal
FAYETTEVILLE — Paul Eugene O’Neal, 83, of Fayetteville died Friday, Dec. 20, in a Fayetteville hospital. He was a retired carpenter, an Army vetern of World War II, a recipient of the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star, a member of Highland Park Assembly of God in Fayetteville, senior vice commander of the Arkansas military Order of the Purple Heart, commander and life member of Chapter 460 of the military Order of the Purple Heart in Fayetteville, commander of Jack Tidwell Post No. 2722 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Fayetteville, all-state chapter commander for the VFW, senior vice commander of District 1 of the VFW, covering Benton, Carroll and Washington counties, and chapter commander of Post No. 3 of the Disabled American Veterans in Fayetteville.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at Roller-Cox Funeral Home Chapel in Clarksville with burial at Oakland cemetery in Clarksville.
He is survived by his wife, Ruby J. Tate O’Neal; a daughter, Bernadine Dalton of Crosses; a son, Eldon Brown of Pensacola, Fla.; a stepson, Carl Bush of Van Buren; a brother, George O’Neal of Fort Scott, Kan.; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
