Estelle Tower
LITTLE ROCK — Estelle L. Douthit Tower, 80, of Little Rock died Friday, Dec. 20, 2002, in Little Rock. She was a retired nurse at St. John’s Hospital in Tulsa and of the Baptist faith.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Monday at West Mount Zion cemetery in Hartman under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home in Clarksville.
She is survived by a son, Mickey Douthit of Little Rock, and two grandchildren.

Brandy Jeffers
Brandy Renee Jeffers, 20, of Fort Smith died Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2002, in Washington, D.C. She was a member of Ninth Street Missionary Baptist Church, where she was an usher, and was a graduate of Northside High School and a sophomore at Howard University in Washington.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at Ninth Street Missionary Baptist Church with burial at Forest Park cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Rowell-Paris Mortuary of Fort Smith.
She is survived by her mother and stepfather, Gwendolyn and Ariel Lovelace of Fort Smith; her father and stepmother, Charles and Ruby Jeffers of Conway; her grandparents, Mary Ann Sanders of Conway and Virginia Bell Jeffers of Morrilton; a sister, Charlie Jeffers of Conway; and two brothers, Cameron Adams of Fort Smith and Elijah Jeffers of Conway.
Pallbearers will be deacons and trustees of the church.
The body may be viewed from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.

Frank Wiley
SALLISAW — Frank L. Wiley, 70, of Sallisaw died Saturday, Dec. 21, 2002, in Sallisaw. He worked for the city of Sallisaw for 18 years, was a combat veteran of the Korean War and was of the Protestant faith.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Sallisaw cemetery under the direction of Mallory Funeral Home of Sallisaw.
He is survived by a brother, Billy J. Wiley of Sallisaw.
Pallbearers will be Paul Watie, Doyle Reed, Mark Spurgeon, Donald McDonald, Bob Suttle and C.P. Barnes.
The body may be viewed at the funeral home.

Floy Hamilton
Floy Stanfield Hamilton, 93, of Fort Smith died Saturday, Dec. 6, 2003, in a local hospital. She was a retired nurse for Dr. J.F. Kelsey and a member of the First United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women and the Aldergate Sunday school class. She was the widow of Clyde Hamilton.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. today at Putman Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at Roselawn cemetery in Fort Smith.
She is survived by a daughter, Debrah Hardgrave of Fort Smith; two sons, Gary and Jan Hamilton, both of Fort Smith; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Shea, Shawn, Tim and Scott Hamilton, Brian Robbins and Larry McCormick.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Aldergate Sunday school class.
Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, 200 N. 15th St., Fort Smith, AR 72902.

Flora Hanna
SPIRO — Flora Hanna, 85, of Spiro died Sunday, Dec. 7, 2003, in Fort Smith.
Graveside service will be 3 p.m. today at New Hope cemetery in Spiro under the direction of Mallory Funeral Home of Spiro.
She is survived by a daughter, Carolyn Skelton of Panama; a son, Larry Hanna of Spiro; a sister, Irene Stewart of Spiro; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Rick and Rocky Hanna, Larry Hanna Jr,, Larry Hanna III, Rod and Billy Skelton.
The body may be viewed at the funeral home.

Moody Cromer Jr.
LAMAR — Moody Donald Cromer Jr., 75, of Lamar died Saturday, Dec. 6, 2003, in an area hospital. He was born July 8, 1928, in Clarksville. He was a graduate of Lamar High School, served in the Army, retired as a postal clerk at the Lamar post office and was a former employee of Clarksville Machine Works. He was a former member of the Lamar School Board and the Farm Bureau Board. He was a member of the Gideons and the Lamar Baptist Church. He was a former deacon, trustee, honorary charter member and former training director of the church.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. today at Lamar Baptist Church with burial at Holman cemetery in Lamar under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home of Clarksville.
He is survived by his wife, Nina; a daughter, Teresa Zachary of Lamar; a son, Terry Cromer of Lamar; and two grandchildren.

Johnny Akins
POCOLA — Johnny Wayne Akins, 38, of Pocola died Saturday, Dec. 6, 2003. He was born July 9, 1965, in New Boston, Texas. He was self-employed in his catering service Johnny’s Backyard BBQ and was a member of Fort Smith BBQ Society.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. today at Grace Manor Memorial Service Chapel in Poteau with cremation to follow.
He is survived by his wife, Cyndi; three children, Nick, Kayla and Brad; his parents; a sister, Melissa Gregory of Poteau; two brothers, Lee Buckner and Michael Wood, both of Fort Smith.

Marvelle Dimmick
SALLISAW — Marvelle Louise Dimmick, 93, of Sallisaw died Friday, Dec. 5, 2003, in Sallisaw. She was born Jan. 12, 1910, in Fort Smith. She was a jewelry store sales clerk in Tulsa, was of the Church of God faith, and the widow John Dimmick.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Agent Funeral Home Chapel in Sallisaw with burial at Akins cemetery northeast of Sallisaw.
She is survived by two stepdaughters; two stepsons; a half sister, Marguerite Dement of Bullhead City, Ariz.; and a half brother, Russell Weindel of Mechanicsburg, Ohio.
The body may be viewed 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Edith Wilburn
BROOKEN, Okla. — Edith L. Bedford Wilburn, 82, of Brooken, Okla., died Saturday, Dec. 6, 2003, in Stigler. She worked for Erwin Ford Co. in Salinas, Calif., taught school in Bower, Okla., in the 1940s, and was the widow of Clifford and William Wilburn.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Brooken Free Will Baptist Church with burial at Brooken cemetery under the direction of Mallory Funeral Home of Stigler.
She is survived by her husband, Bill; two stepsons, Steven Wilburn of Alaska and Chris Wilburn of San Diego; a half brother, David Carney of Tennessee.
Pallbearers will be Tony Miller, Gary Powell, Ronell Watson, Bill Powers, Derek Garvin and Mike Wroblewski.

Mary Reid
LANSING, Ill. — Mary C. Reid, 84, of Lansing, Ill., formerly of Spiro, died Sunday, Dec. 7, 2003, in Lansing. She was a retired nurse and served as an Army nurse in World War II.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Mallory Funeral Home Chapel in Spiro with burial at Spiro City cemetery.
She is survived by two sons, Scott Reid of Sacramento, Calif. and Lee Reid of Lansing, Ill.; a sister, Pearl Wright of Spiro; a brothers, Raymond Watkins of Drebs, Okla.; and five grandchildren.
The body may be viewed 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Jack Arthur Sr.
HARTSHORNE, Okla. — Jack Edward Arthur Sr., 61, of Hartshorne, Okla., formerly of Wickes, died Friday, Dec. 5, 2003 in McAlester, Okla. He was born June 6, 1942, in Vandervoort. He was a self-employed mechanic. He served in the Navy during the Vietname War, and was a member of First Baptist Church in Hartshorne, Okla. He was the widower of Connie Arthur.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Beasley-Wood Funeral Home Chapel in Mena with burial at Westview cemetery in Cove.
He is survived by three daughters, Cynthia Caudill of Oklahoma City, Evelyn McCormick of Wickes, and Lorraine Noahubi of Hartshorne, Okla.; two sons, James Arthur of Oklahoma City and John Griffin of Wickes; four sisters, Florence Stewart of Midwest City, Okla., Katie West of Bethany, Okla., Ruby Bemo of Seminole, Okla., and Juanita Brock of Oklahoma City; two brothers, Bill Arthur of Summerville, Mo., and Frank Arthur of Arlington, Texas; 16 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be James, Frank and Bill Arthur, Kim Caudill, Mike McCormick and Derek Noahubi.

Bobby Scroggins
LAVACA — Bobby J. Scroggins, 69, of Lavaca died Monday, Dec. 8, 2003, in Lavaca. He was born Nov. 2, 1934, in Forrester, Okla.. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and was retired from Masonite Corporation.
Cremation will be under the direction of Smith Mortuary of Charleston.
He is survived by his wife, Irene; a daughter, Linda Daniel of Van Buren; four sons, Michael Scroggins of Caldwell, Idaho, Terry Scroggins of Magazine, Ronald Scroggins of Carson City, Nev., and Kevin Scroggins of Ukiah, Calif.; two sisters, Marie Carkin of Ukiah and Alma Mitchell of California; a brother, Onnie Scroggins of Ukiah, Calif.; 17 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Austin McDaniel
MENA — Austin L. “Mac” McDaniel, 88, of Mena died Sunday, Dec. 7, 2003, in Mena. He was born Feb. 22, 1915, in Gillham. He was a retired train master for the Santa Fe Railroad, was a member of Christ Episcopal Church and a longtime lay reader for the church, a member of the Mena CCC’s of Shady Mountain and the Civilian Conservation Corps from 1934 to 1936. He was the widower of Jeanette McDaniel.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Christ Episcopal Church with burial at Pinecrest Memorial Park under the direction of Beasley-Wood Funeral Home of Mena.
He is survived by his wife, Inez; a daughter, Barbara Fuller of Austin, Texas; two sons, Austin D. McDaniel of San Diego and Ed Gibson of Mena; a sister, Irene Carl of Carlsbad, N.M.; a brother, Dale McDaniel of Memphis; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Lucy Tolliver
Lucy Tolliver, 88, of Van Buren, formerly of Whittier, Calif., died Monday, Dec. 8, 2003, in a local hospital. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, a homemaker and the widow of Lewis Tolliver.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Hall cemetery Arbor in Natural Dam under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
She is survived by a daughter, Geneva Comstock of Van Buren; a son, Lewis Tolliver Jr. of Van Buren; a sister, Bea Landers of Springfield, Mo.; and two grandchildren.

Derald Martz
KNOXVILLE — Derald Wayne Martz, 65, of Knoxville died Sunday, Dec. 7, 2003. He was born Sept. 28, 1938, in Pierce, Neb. He was retired owner of Martz Tractor Co. in Knoxville and associated with Martz Transportation.
Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Hardwicke Funeral Home Chapel in Clarksville.
He is survived by his wife, Judy; a son, Garrett Martz of Knoxville; his mother, Clara Martz of Knoxville; two sisters, Claire Nathan of Castleberry, Fla., and Sharon Haldeman of Hemet, Calif.; two brothers, Dennis Martz of Norfolk, Neb., and Vernon Martz of Hemet, Calif.; one grandchild and two great-grandchildren.
The family will visit with friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Bettie Scantling
MANSFIELD — Bettie Jane Hutson Scantling, 76, of Mansfield died Sunday, Dec. 7, 2003, in Greenwood. She was a homemaker, a member and past board member of Mansfield Church of the Nazarene and the widow of Lige Scantling.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Lick Creek cemetery in Sugar Grove under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood.
She is survived by three daughters, Kaye Emery and Lillie Scantling, both of Hartford, and Relda James of Mansfield; three sons, John Scantling of Fort Smith, Mac Scantling of Arkansas and Larry Scantling of Hartford; two stepdaughters, Opal Fennell and Geneva Shook, both of California; 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Albert Laigle Jr.
MENA — Albert Fredrick Laigle Jr., 51, of Mena died Saturday, Dec. 6, 2003, in Little Rock. He was born April 28, 1952, in Redding, Calif. He was a nurse and of the Baptist faith.
Cremation will be under the direction of Beasley-Wood Funeral Home of Mena.
He is survived by his wife, Ethel; a daughter; a stepdaughter, Dorothy Redding of Redding, Calif.; four stepsons, Billy Graham and Paul Grace Jr., both of California, Larry Graham of Mena, and James Johnston of Clarksville; two grandchildren; 16 stepgrandchildren; and one stepgreat-grandchild.
