Clide Andrew “C.A.” Gipson
Clide Andrew “C.A.” Gipson, 65, of Greenwood died Monday, Nov. 24, 2003, in a Fort Smith hospital after a long illness. He was retired from Whirlpool, and was preceded in death by two children, Chris and Pam.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 28 at McConnell Funeral Home Chapel in Greenwood with burial at Antioch cemetery in Booneville.
He is survived by his wife, Patsy Gipson of the home; and one brother, John Gipson of Washburn.
Pallbearers will be Allen Duckett, George Bell, Larry Glover, Don Lowe, Caroll Turner, Bob LeRue and John McCartney.
Viewing will be 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will visit with friends.

Lavina “Toots” Massey Bing
Lavina “Toots” Massey Bing, 84, of Cedarville died Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2003, in a local nursing home. She was a Avon saleslady in Crawford County for 26 years and also sold Blair Products for 10 years. She was a member of the Independence Free Will Baptist Church at Natural Dam. She was born July 3, 1919 to Haley and Lee Massey. She was preceded in death by her husband, E.E. Bing Sr.; a sister, Edna Thompson; two brothers, Frank Massey and Jim Massey.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 28, 2003, at Ocker Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Hall cemetery in Natural Dam under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
She is survived by four daughters, Estella Roberts and her husband, Carl of Alma, Dorothy Larson and her husband, Larry of Fort Smith, Betty Bowerman and her husband, Jr. of Cedarville, and Janelle Brown and her husband, Jimmy of Natural Dam; three sons, Jr. Bing of Van Buren, Harold Bing of Gilbert, and Russell Bing and his wife, Donna of Heber Springs; a sister-in-law, Hazel Massey; a brother, L.W. Massey of Cedarville; grandchildren, Larisa Wallace, Timmy Brown, Will Roberts, David Bing, Nancy Brown, Nathan Bowerman and Anna Blackwood; and 16 other grandchildren; great-grandchildren, Hannah and Kaylor Brown and Eli Wallace; and numerous other great-grandchildren.

Audrey Altom
Audrey Wayne Altom, 82, of Fort Smith, formerly of Searcy, died Monday, Nov. 24, 2003. He was born July 23, 1921 in Floral. He retired from Boeing Aircraft Co. in Wichita, Kan. after 38 years as a fabricator, was an Army veteran, a Mason, and member and deacon emeritus of Valley Baptist Church. He was the widower of Florence Altom.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Valley Baptist Church with burial at Henderson cemetery in Pangburn under the direction of Searcy-McEuen Funeral Home of Searcy.
He is survived by four daughters, Linda Beall of Mayflower, Nancy Vogel of Ashburn, Va., Brenda Loper of Wichita, Kan., and Dianna Bates of Monticello; two sons, Edwin Altom of Fort Smith and John Altom of Ozark; three brothers, Coy Altom of Parsons, Kan., Austin Altom of Nevada, and Odell Altom of Wichita, Kan.; 14 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Valley Baptist Church building program.

Imogene Lefler
MCALESTER, Okla. — Imogene Lefler, 69, of McAlester, Okla., died Monday, Nov. 24, 2003, in McAlester. She was the widow of Ed Lefler.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Mallory Funeral Home Chapel in Stigler with burial at Sans Bois cemetery in Kinta.
She is survived by three daughters, Joann Weiher and Lisa Humbles, both of McAlester, Okla., and Cheryle Aldridge of Kinta; four sons, Jerry Shaffer of Lequire, Danny and Terry Shaffer, both of Adamson, Okla., and Gary Lefler of McAlester, Okla.; two brothers, Allen Hicks of Blue Creek, Okla. and Billy Hicks of Eufaula, Okla.; 19 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Keith and Derek Bowen, Ronnie Shaffer, Mike Jordan, Fred Hughes and Foyl Ford.

Sharon Kinard
Sharon Kinard, 61, of Van Buren died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2003, in a local hospital. She was born April 19, 1942, in Santa Paula, Calif. She was a plant supervisor for Bundy Tubing, of the Southern Baptist faith and a former owner of a craft store, the Country Gander.
Memorial service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith. The body was cremated.
She is survived by her husband, Kenneth; a daughter, Denise Provence of Winfrey Valley community; a son, Michael of Van Buren; two sisters, Judy Randall of Van Buren and Marybeth Smith of Fayetteville; a brother, Mac Rodgers of Van Buren; and two grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Don Reynolds Cancer Support House, 3324 S. M St., Fort Smith, AR 72903.

Linda Armstrong
SHADY POINT — Linda Sue Armstrong, 62, of Shady Point died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2003, in Shady Point. She was born Aug. 28, 1941, in Poteau. She was a nurse.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. today at Oakland cemetery in Poteau under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.
She is survived by her husband, Tom; a daughter, Sherry Thompson of Shady Point; two sons, Tommy Armstrong of Poteau and Shawn Armstrong of the home; three sisters, Oma Reynolds of Arkoma, Wynema Francis of Shady Point and Betty Campbell of Joplin, Mo.; a brother, Sonny Ward of Fort Gibson, Okla.; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Juanita Woodward
BARLING — Juanita H. Woodward, 86, of Barling died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2003, in Barling. She was born April 9, 1917, in Bearden. She was a member of Second Baptist Church in Little Rock, a retired bookkeeper and teller for Farmers Bank in Marianna and the widow of William Woodward.
Funeral will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Union Hill Baptist Church at Ingalls with burial at Union Hill cemetery under the direction of Frazer’s Funeral Home of Warren.
She is survived by a daughter, Ann Dutcher of Boise, Idaho; a son, Daniel Woodward of Central City; a sister, Joan Templeton of El Dorado; three grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be noon Saturday until service time at the church.

Homer Hall
Homer R. Hall, 76, of Fort Smith died Monday, Dec. 15, 2003, in Fort Smith. He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, was a fourth degree in the Knights of Columbus, retired from Arkansas Glass and Mirror and served in the Korean War in the Army.
Rosary will be 6:30 p.m. today at Fentress Mortuary Chapel in Fort Smith. Mass will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Boniface Catholic Church with burial at Holy Cross cemetery in Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Catherine; one daughter, Lorie Jordan of Fort Smith; two sons, Mike Hall of Little Rock and Dennis Hall of Barling; two sisters, Dorothy Kinslow and Velma Whitley, both of Paris, Texas; two brothers, Prentice Hall of Paris, Texas, and Johnny Hall of Tulsa; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Boniface Catholic Church, 1820 N. B St., Fort Smith, AR 72901.

Michael Keck
POCOLA — Michael Charles Keck, 60, of Pocola, formerly of Fort Smith, died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2003, in Fort Smith. He was a Catholic.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Oakland cemetery in Poteau under the direction of Fentress Mortuary of Fort Smith.
He is survived by a sister, Melinda Bates of Rogers; two brothers, Douglas Keck of Taylor and James Keck of Pocola.

Shirley Demere
LITTLE ROCK — Shirley Woodrow Parker Demere, 91, of Little Rock, formerly of Ozark, died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2003. She was born Sept. 17, 1927, in Ozark. She was a World War II Army veteran, where she was a pharmacist, was the first woman to graduate from pharmacy school in Arkansas and held a degree in pharmacology.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Nichols Chapel cemetery in Altus under the direction of Ashby Funeral Home of Benton.
She is survived by a son, Gary Demere.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Barbara Jordan
MULDROW — Barbara Ellen “Bobbie” Jordan, 68, of Muldrow died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2003, in Muldrow. She was born June 17, 1935, in Brent community. She was a homemaker, an active member of First Baptist Church in Muldrow, a 1954 graduate of Gans High School, was Sequoyah County Precinct inspector at Redland and the widow of Bobby Jordan.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. today at First Baptist Church in Muldrow with burial at U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Muldrow.
She is survived by two daughters, Dianna Beutelschies of Muldrow and Elizabeth Hardwick of Redland; a sister, Mildred Albertson of Daleville, Ala.; and five grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Scott Harvell, Don and Ethard Smith, Jimmy Brunk, Tom and J.D. Jordan, Don Applegate and Roger Billingsly.

William Catlett
BOONEVILLE — William Arthur “Bill” “Lightning” Catlett, 65, of Booneville died Thursday, Dec. 18, 2003, near Booneville. He was a mechanic and a bus driver for Logan County Day Service Center in Booneville, a member of Latter Rain House of Prayer Full Gospel Church in Magazine.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Assembly of God in Magazine with burial at Bud Davis cemetery near Booneville under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home of Booneville.
He is survived by his wife, Jody; three daughters, Ruth Schlinker and Rachael May, both of Booneville, and Bonnie Rainey of Magazine; a son, Michael Catlett of Rogers; three sisters, Margaret Parcus and Glanita Cooper, both of Ellsinore, Mo., and Dee Dee Reymer of Van Buren; five brothers, Samuel Catlett of Booneville, William Brian Catlett of Hunter, Mo., Albert Catlett of Siva, Mo., Phillip Catlett of Van Buren and Carl Catlett of Granite City, Ill.; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Bill Young, Ricky Townsend, Bruce and Mark Isham, Bobby Irby and Alvin Miller.
Honorary pallbearers will be bus drivers of the Logan County Day Care Center.

Florence Kimes
Florence Mae Kimes, 72, of Van Buren died Thursday, Dec. 18, 2003, in a local hospital. She was born May 19, 1931, in Poteau. She was a retired employee of Allen Canning Co. and the widow of Marion Kimes.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Ocker Funeral Home Chapel in Alma. The body will be cremated.
She is survived by two daughters, Debra Hooten of Alma and Shirley Ortago of Van Buren; four sons, Don and Michael Kimes, both of Mulberry, Harrell Kimes of Fort Smith, and Darrell Kimes of Phoenix; two sisters, Mary Peterson of San Antonio and Mattie Kimes of Mulberry; two brothers, Charlie Kenny of Ozark and Dee Kenney of Mulberry; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Betty Smith
VIAN — Betty Sue Smith, 77, of Vian died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2003, in Sallisaw. She was born Feb. 4, 1926, in Sallisaw. She was a homemaker, a Southwestern Bell Telephone operator, operated a farm and ranch with her husband in Cache, Okla., was of the Protestant faith, a graduate of Sallisaw High School Class of 1944 and the widow of Ollie Smith.
Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Chattanooga cemetery in Chattanooga, Okla., under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Sallisaw.
She is survived by two sisters, Margaret Horn and Doris Trotter, both of Vian; three brothers, Bobby and Claude Scott Jr., both of Vian, and Danny Scott of Warner, Okla.
The body may be viewed 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Margaret Bennett
LITTLE ROCK — Margaret Vernice Bennett, 72, of Little Rock died Thursday, Dec. 18, 2003, in Little Rock. She was born June 27, 1931. She was valedictorian of her graduating class.
Graveside will be 3 p.m. today at Fort Douglas cemetery in Fort Douglas, Ark., under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home of Clarksville.
She is survived by a sister, Juanita Meadows of Dover; two brothers, William Bennett of Hot Springs and Yell Bennett of Whittier, Calif.

Jerry Smith
WITCHERVILLE — Jerry L. Smith, 65, of Witcherville died Thursday, Dec. 18, 2003, in a Fort Smith hospital. He was retired from Alpha Packaging, was a Navy veteran and a member of Faith Baptist Church.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Faith Baptist Church in Greenwood with burial at Dawson cemetery in Milltown under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood.
He is survived by his wife, Donna; three daughters, Jill Corley of Pocola, Angie Moy of Greenwood and Amy Brown of Jenny Lind; a son, Scott Smith of Fort Smith; two sisters, Maggie Collins of Witcherville and Nan Ashcraft of Little Rock; three brothers, Leon Smith of Tulsa, Bud and Joe Smith, both of Witcherville; and 11 grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be his nephews.
The body may be viewed 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
