Grace Parish

JONESBORO -- Grace Parish, 81, of Jonesboro died Monday, April 4, at St. Bernard's Medical Center.

She had lived most of her life in Jonesboro, was a retired cook for the Jonesboro School System and a member of Mount Carmel United Methodist Church.

Survivors include three daughters, Pat Vanderbilt, Donna Veteto and Marla Grissom, all of Jonesboro; three brothers, Don Foust of Jonesboro, K.O. Foust of South Bend, Ind., and Gene Foust of Elkhart, Ind.; five sisters, Opal Nickel, Helen White and Carolyn Foust, all of Mishawaka, Ind., Iris Schmidtendorff of White Pigeon, Mich., and Anita Krah of Bristol, Ind.; seven grandchildren, Amy Simpson, Steven Vanderbilt, Rhonda Whithaus, Holly Kaufman, Travis Grissom, Todd Grissom and Brittany Brown; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Parish; her parents, Clarence and Clara Foust; one son; one brother; and one sister.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Emerson Funeral Home's Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. Edward Pruett officiating. Burial will follow in Keller's Chapel Cemetery.

Her grandchildren and their spouses and Rodney Hannah will serve as active pallbearers.

Honorary pallbearers will include Jack Gilbert, Elroy Gilbert, Henry Vanderbilt, Evans Hannah, Nina McQuay, Ida Blalock and members of Mount Carmel United Methodist Church.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Mount Carmel United Methodist Church, 4000 Southwest Drive, Jonesboro 72404 or Keller's Chapel Cemetery, 6304 Southwest Drive, Jonesboro 72404.

Chelcy James Parsons

PORTIA -- Chelcy James Parsons, 68, of Portia died Monday, April 4, at St. Bernard's Medical Center.

Born at Hoxie, he was a retired factory employee and of the Baptist belief.

Survivors include two daughters, Karen Ritch of Paris and Shelly Tillman of Portia; a son, Samuel Parsons of the home; three brothers, Charles Parsons of Hoxie, Ray Parsons of Portia and John Parsons of Horseshoe Bend; four sisters, Beatrice Manning of Illinois and Alice Gillespie, Pat Carley and Mabel Lamb, all of Hoxie; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Bryan Funeral Home of Hoxie.

Clarence Wesley Reed

LINCOLN -- Clarence Wesley Reed, 82, of Lincoln died Sunday, April 3, in Prairie Grove.

Born in Cherokee City, Okla., he was a World War II veteran, a retired dairy farmer and welder and served two terms as the Lincoln city mayor from 1987-1991. He was a 32nd-degree Mason, a lifetime member of Masonic Lodge No. 615 and attended Church of Christ in Lincoln.

Survivors include his wife, Pauline E. Waller Reed of the home; a son, Wesley Reed of Jonesboro; three daughters, Louise Howard of Fort Smith, Bertie Jane Prigge of Isanti, Minn., and Shirley Holsinger of Allen, Texas; four brothers, Albert Reed and Donald Reed, both of Siloam Springs, Alfred "Shug" Reed of Rheas Mill, and Harvey Reed of Goodman, Mo.; two sisters, Barbara Atha of Westville, Okla., and Minnie Fielding of Fort Worth, Texas; 10 grandchildren, Bobby Dean Swain, Jeff Holsinger, Shannon Sensing, Jill Holsinger, Tracy Haskett, Paula Prigge, Jon Reed, Matthew Prigge, Brittany Reed and Megan Thiesse; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Vickie Thiesse; his parents; seven brothers; and two sisters.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Luginbuel Funeral Home in Prairie Grove, with Malcom Scott and Ronnie Morrison officiating. Burial will follow in Beaty Cemetery near Lincoln.

Active pallbearers will be Bobby Dean Swain, Jeff Holsinger, Jon Reed, Matthew Prigge, Brad Haskett and Lee Reed.

Honorary pallbearers will include William Petitt, Clyde William Reed, Randy Atha, Chuck Reed, Clayton Reed, Lesley Reed, Albert Raymond Reed, Allen Reed, Bill Reed, Phillip Reed and Dennis Sensing.

Visitation will begin at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer Association, 1125 North College Ave., Suite No. 466, Fayetteville.

D. Niles Ruff

SUCCESS -- D. Niles Ruff, 96, of Success died Friday, April 1, at his residence.

Born in Doniphan, Mo., he was a lifetime resident of Clay County, had worked as a schoolteacher and instructor and served on the Success City Council. He was a an elder at Success Church of Christ.

Survivors include three daughters, Sandra Bracken of Pocahontas, Sharon McGuire of Marshall and Gwen Ruff of Thousand Oaks, Calif.; a brother, Lynn Ruff of St. Louis; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Elma Lancaster Ruff.

Funeral services will be at 7 p.m. today in Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel in Neelyville, Mo., with Gary Clayton officiating.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Hitt Cemetery at Success.

Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Amos Dalton Staggs

RECTOR -- Amos Dalton Staggs, 69, of Rector died Sunday, April 3, at his residence.

Born in Rector, he had worked for Emerson Electric in Kennett, Mo. He was a veteran and was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife, Annie B. Wayland Staggs of the home; three sons, Roy Staggs and Jeff Staggs, both of Rector, and Wade Staggs of Seattle; and one grandchild, Atasha Sue Staggs of Rector.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ava Sue Staggs; his parents, Joe and Luvina Staggs; two daughters; two brothers; and one sister.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today in the chapel of Mitchell Funeral Home in Rector, with Futrell Butler officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery near Rector.

Active pallbearers will be Phillip Greenway, Gary Redman, Don Caldwell, Ivan Smart, Glen McKay and Dennis Wheeler.

Honorary pallbearers will include Alvie Chilcutt, Charlie Beck and Hewey Burdin.

Frank J. Wagner Sr.

BLYTHEVILLE -- Frank J. Wagner Sr., 95, of Blytheville died Friday, April 1, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff.

He was born at De Soto, Mo., and was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He received his education in the Brinkley school system. He was a construction and building materials dealer at Blytheville until his retirement in 1980.

Survivors include two sons, Frank J. Wagner Jr., of Pine Bluff and Paul C. Wagner of Memphis; one daughter, Patricia Wagner Moore of Osceola; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Alberta P. Wagner, and three brothers.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. today at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery under the direction of Cobb Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Schools, P.O. Box 7434, Pine Bluff, 71611-7434.

George William Brawner

COLT -- George William Brawner, 84, of Colt died Saturday, April 23.

Born at Vanndale, he was a lifelong resident of Cross County and a World War II Navy veteran, having served on the USS Montrose in the Pacific. He was a retired Cross County Road Department foreman and a rice farmer. He was a member of Fitzgerald Crossing Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Nell Aston Brawner of Colt; three sons, Larry George Brawner of Wynne, Ronnie Joe Brawner of Colt and Michael Edward Brawner of Wynne; a daughter, Peggy Allene Brawner Burnett of Hickory Ridge; a brother, J.L. Brawner of Wynne; nine grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther Odis and Edna Zula Pearson Brawner; three brothers; and a sister.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Kernodle Funeral Home of Wynne, with the Rev. Ellis Jones, the Rev. Johnnie Green and Herbert Rolland officiating. Burial will be in Cogbill Cemetery at Wynne.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Fitzgerald Crossing Baptist Church, 422 Arkansas 1, Wynne 72396, or a charity of the donor's choice.

Ruby Jean Broadway

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. -- Funeral services for Ruby Jean Broadway, 79, of Clarksville, formerly of Walnut Ridge, who died Saturday, April 23, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church at Annieville.

Harold Russell will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery under the direction of Bryan Funeral Home of Hoxie.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the church.
