MAGAZINE — Veral Geraldine Starling, 89, of Magazine died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2004, in Magazine.
Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2004, at Roberts Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Booneville.
She is survived by a daughter, Lela Campbell; a brother, Earnest Link; four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

Zell George
Zell George, 88, of Fort Smith died Friday, Jan. 9, 2004, in a Fort Smith hospital. She was born May 6, 1915, in McAlester, Okla. She was a retired hostess for Wonder Bread.
She is survived by a son, Gary George of Tucson, Ariz.; a brother, Sonny George of Mount George; two sisters, Betty George of Mount George and Bertha Pennington of Ola; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Monday at Mount George cemetery under the direction of Cornwell Funeral Home of Dardanelle.

Leroy Ford
BOONEVILLE — Leroy Ford, 48, of Booneville died Saturday, Jan. 10, 2004, in Booneville. He was a resident of the Booneville Human Development Center in Booneville.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Roberts Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Booneville with burial at Oak Hill cemetery in Booneville.
He is survived by his mother, Annie Washington of Earle; three sisters, Louise Scott of Detroit, Erdell Jones of Indianapolis and Leneay Washington of Earle; and two brothers, Benny Foster of Memphis and Charles Washington of Indianapolis.
Honorary pallbearers will be the management staff of the Booneville Human Development Center.

Dorothy Bartlett
ALTUS — Dorothy Bartlett, 76, of Altus died Friday, Jan. 9, 2004, in an area hospital. She was retired from Singer and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel in Ozark with burial at Houston cemetery in Alix.
She is survived by two sons, Roger and Bob Bartlett, both of Altus; a brother, Ras Beneux of Westminster, Calif.; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Adam, Daniel and Sam Bartlett, Bobbie Bartlett Jr., Michey Graham and Randy Beneux.

Gertrude Stovall
PARIS — Gertrude Stovall, 86, of Paris died Friday, Jan. 9, 2004, in Paris. She was a homemaker and was affiliated with the Assembly of God. She was the widow of Raymond Stovall.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at the Assembly of God in Midway with burial at Howard cemetery in Paris under the direction of Roller Funeral Home of Paris.
She is survived by four daughters, Wilma Rogers of Lavaca, Frances Needham of LaRue, Texas, and Trudi Shamblin and Donna Pilgreen, both of Paris; two sons, Bill Stovall of Paris and Hubert Stovall of LaRue, Texas; a sister, Syble Denton of Scranton; a brother, Farris Roper of Scranton; 17 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Tim Rogers, Vincent Schluterman, Wallie Sprick, Eddie and Jeremy Eckart and Denny Kremers.
The family will visit with friends from 2 to 4 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Paul Harris
MULDROW — Paul B. Harris, 51, of Muldrow died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2004, in Muldrow. He was born May 27, 1952, in Manchester. He was an auto mechanic supervisor for the Fort Smith Transit Department. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Roland, a graduate of Edison High School in Huntington Beach, Calif., a longtime race car driver at Tri-State Speedway and a factory stock racer driving the No. 101 car.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church in Roland with burial at Liberty cemetery in Liberty community under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Roland.
He is survived by five daughters, Shanon Pollard of Roland, Donna Johnson of Huntington, Karen Ruckman of the home, Billie Hurston of Van Buren and Candis Hurston of Fort Smith; four sons, Leon Harris of Alabama, Anthony Flores of Liberty, Samson Harris of Rudy and Wyland Yarberro Jr. of Fort Smith; his mother, Sheila Harris of Costa Mesa, Calif.; three brothers, Stuart and Scott Harris, both of Costa Mesa, Calif., and David Harris of Huntington Beach, Calif.; and 11 grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Stuart, David, Scott and Samson Harris, Anthony Flores and Wyland Yarberro.
The body may be viewed from 1 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Corinna Coughlin
Corinna Coughlin, 91, of Fort Smith died Friday, Jan. 9, 2004, in Stilwell, Okla. She was a homemaker and a member of the Bethel Lutheran Church. She was the widow of Edward L. Coughlin.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Monday at the U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
She is survived by a son, Terry Coughlin of Jay, Okla.
Memorial contributions may be made to Bethel Lutheran Church, 5400 Euper Lane, Fort Smith, AR 72903.

Micheal Gattis
SCRANTON — Micheal Dale Gattis, 46, of Scranton died Thursday, Jan. 8, 2004, in his home. He was a member of the Scranton Fire Department.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Murry Funeral Home Chapel in Paris with burial at Prairie View cemetery in Prairie View.
He is survived by six sisters, Judy and Carolyn Wewer, Brenda Ahne, Deborah Gattis and Irba Thompson, all of Scranton, and Tammy McKinney of Clarksville; and six brothers, Harlen and James Gattis, both of Paris, Larry, John and Willie Gattis, all of Scranton, and Bonnie Gattis of Wichita, Kan.
Pallbearers will be Roy Humphries, James Thompson, Hank Nico, Dennis Ahne, Bub Uptigrove, Adrian Weisenfels, Curt Taylor and Phillip Willhite.
Honorary pallbearers will be nephews.
The family will visit with friends from 2 to 4 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Billy McKinney
HARTMAN — Billy E. McKinney, 72, of Hartman died Friday, Jan. 9, 2004, in a Russellville hospital. He was born March 14, 1931, in Elkhart, Texas. He was a Baptist, a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers and the American Legion and a veteran of the Korean War.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at Hardwicke Funeral Home Chapel in Clarksville with burial at Shannon cemetery in Treat.
He is survived by his wife, Iva Page McKinney; two daughters, Deborah James of Hartman and Cynthia McCollum of Russellville; a son, Timmy McKinney of Batesville; a sister, Whiladene Strait of Palestine, Texas; and three brothers, D.C. McKinney of Lancaster, Texas, Mardease McKinney of Elkhart and Hybert McKinney of Palestine; and six grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie, Loail and Robert McKinney, Bob and Earl Page and Ed Newsom.
The family will visit with friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Olin Smith
Olin Edward Smith, 88, of Van Buren died Jan. 10, 2004, in his home. He was a lifelong resident of Crawford County, a Baptist, a Navy veteran of World War II, a retired cattleman and former owner of Olin Smith Grocery Store in Van Buren. He was a graduate of the University of Arkansas and the widower of Pat Smith.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Ocker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Gracelawn cemetery in Van Buren.
He is survived by a daughter, Pam Smith of Van Buren; two sons, David Smith and Olin Smith Jr., both of Van Buren; a sister, Irene Tankersly of Van Buren; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Dutch Watson, Benton Cone, Denny Snow, Maurice Hubbs, Allyn Donahauer, Don Sangster, Raymond Whitmyer and Charles Stockton.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday.

Donald McDaniel
INOLA, Okla. — Donald Ray “Don” McDaniel, 66, of Inola, formerly of Stigler, Okla., died Friday, Jan. 9, 2004, in Tulsa. He was born March 22, 1937, in Stigler. He was a graduate of Stigler High School and Eastern Oklahoma State Junior College in Wilburton. He retired from Arco Chemical as a maintenance supervisor in 1992. He was a four-time champion calf roper, a member of the Oklahoma and Kansas Senior Rodeo Association and Red Fork Masonic Lodge. He was a 32nd degree Mason and raised cattle.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at Christian Church in Inola with burial at Antioch cemetery under the direction of Mallory Funeral Home of Stigler. A committal service will be 3 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
He is survived by a son, Larry McDaniel of Inola; his mother, Lillian McDaniel of Stigler; a sister, Delores Smith of Longtown, Okla.; and two grandsons.

Ryan Keener
Ryan M. Keener, 31, of Fort Smith died Friday, Jan. 9, 2004, in his home. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church and an intern football coach for the Greenland school system.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Putman Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at Oak cemetery in Fort Smith.
He is survived by his parents, Vickie and William Cowan of Fort Smith; his grandfather, Vernon Keener of Fort Smith; a sister, Ashlee Cowan of Fort Smith; and a stepbrother, Tom Cowan of Fort Smith.
Pallbearers will be Shane, Alex and Bobby Reed, Chris Ferguson and John Getz.
The family will visit with friends from 2 to 4 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Greenland Athletic Department.

John Dunning II
POTEAU — John E. Dunning II, 63, of Poteau died Thursday, Jan. 8, 2004, in Bull Head City, Ariz. He was born April 11, 1940, in Fort Smith. He was a self-employed in retail sales as the operator of the Bargain Shack in Poteau.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Evans & Miller Funeral Home Chapel of Memories in Poteau with burial at Oakland cemetery in Poteau.
He is survived by his wife, Irene; two daughters, Pam Collins of Poteau and Sandra Branstetter of Cameron; two sons, Jerry Dunning of Cameron and John Dunning of Shreveport, La.; two sisters, Rose Davis of Alma and Joann Kenney of Kilgore, Texas; a brother, Don Dunning of Fort Smith; a half brother, Billy Johnson; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Chris and Donnie Dunning, Jerry Collins Jr., Bradley Cook, Rookey Hayes and Jason Davis.

Margaret Masingale
ALTUS — Margaret Beatrice Masingale, 91, of Altus died Saturday, Jan. 10, 2004, in Ozark. She was a homemaker and a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She was the widow of Hollie Wesley Masingale.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Calvary Baptist Church with burial at Highland cemetery in Ozark under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home of Ozark.
She is survived by two daughters, Reba McClanahan of Corsicana, Texas, and Cora Hall of Altus; three sons, Tom Masingale of Cedarville, John Masingale of California and Terry Masingale of Altus; 16 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Rickie Cline, Steve Spencer, Steve Griffin, Billy Shaffer, Roger Bartlett and Bobby Morris.
The family will visit with friends from 2 to 4 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Joseph Lewis Strong Sr.
Joseph Lewis Strong Sr., 71, passed away Thursday, Jan. 8, 2004, in Fort Smith. He was of the Catholic faith, a member of VFW, worked as a chef and was a veteran of the Army having served in the Korean War.
He is survived by his wife, Araminta of the home; four sons, Tyrone Patrick Strong of Muldrow, Joseph L. Strong Jr. of Muldrow, Roger D. Strong of Roland and Paul A. Strong of Cedar Hill, Texas; a sister, Pola Moster of Paducah, Ky.; six nephews, four grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
Graveside service will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
