Emma Horn
WALDRON — Emma Gean Horn, 77, of Waldron died Monday, Oct. 6, 2003, in a Fort Smith hospital. She was a retired food service manager for Waldron Public School and a member of Fellowship Primitive Baptist Church.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Martin Funeral Home Chapel in Waldron with burial at Duncan cemetery in Waldron.
She is survived by her husband, Ule; two daughters, Carrol Ison of Greenwood and Denise Byrns of Little Rock; three sons, Larry, Darrel and Randy Horn, all of Waldron; two sisters, Robbie Sowells of Parlier, Calif., and Melodean Griffin of Earp, Calif.; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Brian, Phillip and Mike Horn, Joey Byrns, Robert Reed and John Davis.
Carol Spoon
MULDROW — Carol Spoon, 48, of Muldrow died Monday, Oct. 6, 2003, in Muldrow. She was born March 23, 1955, in Tahlequah, Okla. She was a courier for Cherokee Nation Enterprises, a member of Rock Fence Church near Stilwell, Okla., where she served as secretary-treasurer, and attended Westark College.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Agent Funeral Home Chapel in Sallisaw with burial at Seabolt cemetery northeast of Sallisaw.
She is survived by her husband, Danny; three daughters, Amanda Nakedhead and Danielle Spoon, both of the home, and Melissa Hallmark of Stilwell, Okla.; her mother, Lorene Nakedhead of Stilwell, Okla.; six sisters, Dena Ross of Fort Worth, Texas, Barbara Harding of Muldrow, Sherry Nakedhead of Weatherford, Okla., Brandy Nakedhead of Fort Smith, Shannon Tiger of Tahlequah, Okla., and Dawn Nakedhead of Oklahoma; six brothers, Huckleberry Nakedhead of Sallisaw, Clint, Thomas and Brian Nakedhead, all of Stilwell, Okla., Leland Nakedhead of Tulsa, and Gary Nakedhead of Tahlequah, Okla.; and five grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Sammy, Sean, Kendell and Cory Nakedhead, Mike Hatfield and Jake Hallmark.
The body may be viewed 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Loyd Cantrell
STIGLER — Loyd Cantrell, 77, of Stigler died Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2003, in Stigler. He was a member of Church of Christ in Stigler, was owner and operator of Cantrell Steel for more than 30 years. He was the widower of Jessie Cantrell and June Cantrell.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Church of Christ in Stigler with burial at Stigler City cemetery under the direction of Mallory Funeral Home of Stigler.
He is survived by a son, Danny Cantrell of Eufaula, Okla.; two sisters, Marie Boyles of Stigler and Erie Spence of Tulsa.
Edward Thompson
Edward O. “Tommy” Thompson, 88, of Fort Smith died Monday, Oct. 6, 2003, in Fort Smith. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Gleaner’s Sunday school class. He retired from Ward Ice Cream and later from Weldon, Williams & Lick.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at Havana cemetery in Havana.
He is survived by his wife, Florine; a son, Tommy Thompson of Little Rock; a sister, Betty Rotert of Rochester, N.Y.
Pallbearers will be George Greb, George Gaines, Earl Hadley, Randy Spradley, Danny and Terry Thompson and Larry Turner.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of Gleaner’s Sunday school class.

POTEAU — Seavey Anderson Hodo, 92, of Poteau died Monday, Oct. 6, 2003, in Poteau. He was born Oct. 25, 1910, in Leflore. He was retired from the Air Force, was a World War II veteran and served under General Gavin. He was in the original Glider Division of the 101st Airborne and served on a Search Light Crew in Puerto Rico for German U-boats. He was the widower of Katherine Hodo.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Friday at LeFlore cemetery in Leflore under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.

Vicie Moss, 93, of Van Buren died Monday, Oct. 6, 2003, in a local nursing home. She was a homemaker, a member of Zion Missionary Baptist Church and the widow of Philip Moss.

POTEAU — Bill Braisher, 95, of Poteau died Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2003, in a Fort Smith hospital. He was born March 3, 1908, Calhoun, Okla. He was a retired coal miner.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. today at Oakland cemetery Pavilion in Poteau under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.
He is survived by two sisters, Billie Kinsey of Sallisaw and Willene Long of Greenwood.
Elmer Davis “Dave” Mitchell
Elmer Davis “Dave” Mitchell, 77, of Spiro was born Nov. 13, 1925, at Williams, Minn. to Frederick C. and Florence Dollarhide Mitchell. He died Saturday, Oct. 4, 2003, in Spiro. He was a heavy equipment supervisor. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Davis L. Mitchell and Kevin K. Mitchell; three sisters, Opal Kincaid, Victoria McKinnon and Lola McGuire; and three brothers, Maynard, Keith and Albert “Bud” Mitchell.
Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, 2003, at Spiro United Methodist Church with the Rev. Janice Meese officiating under the direction of Mallory Funeral Home of Spiro.
He is survived by his wife, Doris of the home; a daughter, Gayla and husband, Ray Freeman of Spiro; three sons, Terry L. Hubbard and wife, Cathy of Tacoma, Wash., Terry C. Mitchell and wife, Sheila of Spiro and Frederick P. Mitchell; two sisters, Thelma Vratisovasky of Payson, Ariz., and Mavis Boyer of Fort Pierre, S.D.; a brother, Leslie Mitchell of Pierre, S.D.; 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Terrell Cleon Rambo
Terrell Cleon Rambo, 75, of Lavaca died Monday, Oct. 6, 2003, in a Fort Smith hospital. He was born March 27, 1928, in Sebastian County to Blant Rambo and Ethel Brittain. He was a carpenter for Manhatten Co. for 35 years and retired after 15 years from Guest Company. He was a member of the Carpenter’s Union and a member of Lavaca First Baptist Church. Terrell married
Joan Brewer on March 16, 1946. He was preceded in death by a brother, Arnold Rambo.
Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, 2003, at First Baptist Church in Lavaca with burial at Oak Valley cemetery south of Lavaca under the direction of Smith Mortuary of Charleston.
He is survived by his wife, Joan Rambo of the home; two sons, Benny and Diana Rambo of Lavaca, Terry Rambo of Lavaca and daughter-in-law, Glenda K. Rambo; six grandchildren, Teri, Ashley, Jerrad, Ryan and Chelsea Rambo and a foreign exchange granddaughter, Tinna Mejer.
Pallbearers will be Perry Turner, Phillip Bunda, Kenny and Matt Smithson, Randy Green and Hugh Hardgrave.

Benjamin F. Doty
Benjamin F. Doty, 81, of Hackett, formerly of Fort Smith, died Monday, Oct. 6, 2003, in Hackett. He retired from the Army after serving in World War II, the 
Korean War and the Vietname War. He was a life member of the D.A.V., the Arkansas Retired military, the V.F.W. and the American Legion. After retirement, he served as chef for Emmy’s German Restaurant in Fort Smith. He was preceded in death by his wife, Valeska Doty.
Funeral will be noon Thursday, Oct. 9, 2003, at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with burial at U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
He is survived by a sister, Beatrice Defoor of Newport; a nephew, Mack and wife, Laura Defoor of Hackett.

Chloe Marie Fincher
Chloe Marie Fincher, 52, of Alma died Monday, Nov. 25, 2002, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born Dec. 1, 1949, in Camden. She was a graduate of Camden Fairview High School and Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia. She was a real estate broker for Arkansas Land Agency and had a life membership in the Multi-Million Dollar Club. Chloe was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Alma.
She is survived by her husband, Jimmy and her daughter, Faith Marie, both of Alma. She is also survived by a stepdaughter, Lesley Humble of Pittsburg; a stepson, Jason Fincher of Conway; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. H.T. Hendrix of Camden; and three sisters, Linda Dedman of Rison, Cathie McAllister of Bismark and Cindy Riggs of Camden. She leaves behind may more friends and loved ones.
Services will be 1 p.m. today at First Baptist Church in Alma with burial at Newberry cemetery in Alma under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.
Pallbearers will be Glen Sled, Gary Weaver, Kyle and Clovis Satterfield, Mike McSpadden and John Grant.

Virginia Fern Sharpe, 81, of Fort Smith died Monday, Nov. 25, 2002, in Fort Smith. She was a homemaker and a member of South Side Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a son, William Thomas “Tom” Sharpe.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. today at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at Morris cemetery in Bloomer.
She is survived by a daughter, Gail and husband, Johnny Ragsdale of Van Buren; two sons, Marshall and wife, Carol Sharpe of Fort Smith and Paul and wife, Carlota Sharpe of Longview, Texas; three sisters, Bessie Kester and Carolyn Crouch, both of Fort Smith, and Jo Anna Peek of Bethany, Okla.; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She is survived by two daughters, Delores Fulgham and Diane Mayes, both of Van Buren; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

Hazel T. Lawson, 77, of Fort Smith died Sunday, Nov. 24, 2002, in a local hospital. She was born Jan. 20, 1925, in Philadelphia. She was a retired employee of Bourns Labortories.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. today at U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Fort Smith.
She is survived by two daughters, Audreyetta Swanson of Phoenix and Roberta Berg of Azel, Texas; a son, Lowell A. Lawson of Fort Smith; a sister, Edith McConnell of Nevada; a brother, Frank of California; 11 grandchildren’ seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Catherine Louise Brown, 75, of Greenwood died Monday, Nov. 25, 2002, in a Fort Smith hospital. She was employed at Sam’s Wholesale Club, a member of Greenwood First Baptist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star in Greenwood. She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Brown, a daughter, Leta Jane; two brothers, Gene and Gerald Amos; and a halfsister, Genieve Powell.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday at Greenwood First Baptist Church with burial at Liberty cemetery in Greenwood under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood.

Eva P. Childers, 77, of Ozark died Monday, Nov. 25, 2002, in a Paris hospital. She was born Jan. 10, 1925, in Ozark to John Clark and Mary Whitter. She was a homemaker, a member of Cass Baptist Church and the VFW.
