WEST HELENA — Jewell “J.L.” Wagoner, 88, of West Helena died Sunday, Nov. 24, 2002, in Alma. He was born Dec. 1, 1913, in Dexter, Mo. He was an aircraft mechanic and a member of Twin City Church of Christ.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. today at Twin City Church of Christ with burial at Sunset Memorial Park in West Helena under the direction of Roller-Citizens Funeral Home in West Helena.
He is survived by a daughter, Cheryl Wessels of Alma; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Ford, Doc Blair, Glen Henderson, Lamar Maples, Donald Ray Wiggins, Danny Cornell and Robert Wooten.
Memorial contributions may be made to Good Sheperd Lutheran Church in Fayetteville.

Elva Nicodemus
Elva Ola Nicodemus, 93, of Fort Smith, formerly of Chouteau, Okla., died Sunday, Nov. 24, 2002, in Fort Smith. She was born June 23, 1909, in Fredrick, Okla. She was a nurse and worked at St. John Hospital in Tulsa and Grand Valley Hospital in Pryor, was a member of First Baptist Church in Chouteau and was past Grand Matron of the Eastern Star in the Pryor Chapter. She was the widow of Frank Nicodemus.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. today at First Baptist Church in Chouteau, Okla. with burial at Chouteau North cemetery under the direction of Key Funeral Home of Chouteau, Okla.
She is survived by a son, Warren Nicodemus of Fort Smith; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Chouteau.

Marie Daniel
STIGLER — Marie Daniel, 86, of Stigler died Monday, Nov. 25, 2002, in a local nursing home. She was born April 10, 1916, in Howe. She was a homemaker, a member of Stigler Free Will Baptist Church and the widow of Willie Tony Daniel.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. today at First Baptist Church in Albion, Okla. with burial at Oakland cemetery in Poteau under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.
She is survived by a son, Tony Daniel; eight grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Dany Daniel, Daniel Craig, Jerry and Justin Minor, Mike and Johnny Bray.

Freda Shockley
POTEAU — Freda Fern Shockley, 86, of Poteau died Monday, Nov. 25, 2002, in Poteau. She was born June 24, 1916, in Hugo, Colo. She was a hairdresser, a member of First Christian Church in Poteau, the AARP in Lindsay, Okla., and past member of the Church of Christ in Lindsay, Okla. She was the widow of Elmer Kretz and George Shockley.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday at First Christian Church in Poteau with graveside service at 4 p.m. at Mount Olive cemetery in Nardin, Okla., under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.
She is survived by two daughters, Ardith Wilkerson of Poteau and Karen Furnish of Stockbridge, Ga.; a stepson, Gloyd Shockley of Skiatook, Okla.; a sister, Nadine Williams of Colcord, Okla.; two brothers, Max and Leo Greenwood, both of Colcord, Okla.; 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Arch Gothard Foundation, Poteau Kiamichi Technology Center or Christian Free Clinic of Poteau.

Paul Silverman
NORMAN — Paul S. Silverman, 65, of Norman died Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2002, in Mena. He was born Feb. 22, 1937, in Cook County, Ill. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and was an accountant.
The body was sent to Florida for services. Local arrangements under the direction of Beasley-Wood Funeral Home of Mena.
He is survived by two daughters, Tammy Haynes of Boynton Beach, Fla., and Dana Silverman of Delray Beach, Fla.; a son, David S. Silverman of Lantana, Fla.; his mother, Dorothy Silverman of Chicago; a sister, Seena Stein of Deerfield, Ill.; a brother, Allen Silverman of Pennsylvania; and five grandchildren.

Velma Harman
MCCURTAIN — Velma Harman, 89, of McCurtain died Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2002, in Stigler. She was the widow of Beryl D. Harman.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at Mallory Funeral Home Chapel in Stigler with graveside service at 2:30 p.m. at Resthaven Memorial cemetery in Ponca City, Okla.
She is survived by a stepdaughter, Cora Lee Harman Brown of Grandbury, Colo.; three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

David Vorpagel
WALDRON — David Ray Vorpagel, 43, of Waldron died Monday, Nov. 25, 2002, in a Little Rock hospital. He was a Navy veteran, an employee of St. Edward Mercy Medical Center and attended Waldron First Baptist Church.
Funeral will be 9 a.m. Friday at Martin Funeral Chapel with burial at U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Esther; a daughter, Syndeea of the home; a stepdaughter, Kellie Timmons of Springfield, Ill.; two sons, Keith and Richard, both of the home; his father, Donald Vorpagel of Sterling, Okla.; three sisters, Debbie Newton of Tulsa, Pat Parsley of Cyril, Okla., and Wanda Houghtaling or Watertown, N.Y.; three brothers, Donnie of Duncan, Okla., Kenneth of Sterling, Okla., and Tommy of Elgin, Okla.; and one grandchild.

Dorothy Walker
FORT GIBSON, Okla. — Dorothy M. Walker, 90, of Fort Gibson, Okla., formerly of Sallisaw, died Monday, Nov. 25, 2002, in Muskogee, Okla. She was born May 6, 1912, in Bradford, Ill. She was a graduate of Vian High School, an employee of Walgreen Drug Company in Palo Alto, Calif., retiring after 19 years and the widow of Lewis H. “Lew” Walker.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at Agent Funeral Home Chapel in Sallisaw with burial at Garden of Memories in Vian.
She is survived by a sister, Marie Farmer of Sallisaw.
Pallbearers will be George, Clayton Lee and Perry Farmer and Gary Stauffer.
The body may be viewed 1 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Vivian Wilson
BOONEVILLE — Vivian L. “Rene” Wilson, of Booneville died Monday, Nov. 25, 2002, in a local nursing home. She was a retired waitress and cook, a member of VFW Auxiliary, the First Baptist Church in Booneville where she was active in P.A.R. Circle of the WMU and the Roadrunners.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Booneville with burial at Oak Hill cemetery in Booneville under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home of Booneville. She was the widow of David Wilson.
She is survived by two sisters, Anna Belle Mott and Mary Burleson, both of Booneville; and three grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be the men of First Baptist Church.
The family will visit with friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Michael Norton
Michael Norton, 20, of Fort Smith died Monday, Nov. 25, 2002, in his home. He was born Nov. 27, 1981, in Fort Smith. He was an employee of Sparks Regional Medical Center Pharmacy, attended Harvest Time Tabernacle and a member of National Motorcycle Association.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Harvest Time Tabernacle with burial at Roselawn cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Fort Smith.
He is survived by his parents, Bobby and Patsy Norton of Fort Smith; his mother, Celina Fiala of St. Louis; a sister, Lori Norton of Fort Smith; two brothers, Cory and Trae Norton, both of Fort Smith; maternal grandparents, Bob and Linda Norton of Fort Smith; paternal grandparents, Ken and Helen Gilbreth of Fort Smith.
Pallbearers will be Blair Lively, Jeremy Mason, Kendall Mounce, Brandon Cheek, Richard Fink and Jason Clark.
Honorary pallbearers will be all motor cross riders.
Memorial contributions may be made to Harvest Time Oneighty Youth, 3100 Briarcliff Ave., Fort Smith, AR.

Norma Ingram
Norma S. Davis Ingram, 78, of Van Buren, formerly of North Little Rock, died Friday, July 18, 2003. She was born Jan. 22, 1925, in Perth, Western Australia. She spent two years in Australia’s Women Army Service in the signal unit. She was the widow of Royal Ingram.
A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Harvest Time Tabernacle in Fort Smith with a graveside service at 3 p.m. at Griffin-Leggett Rest Hills Memorial Park in North Little Rock. Arrangements are under the direction of Griffin-Leggett Rest Hills Funeral Home of North Little Rock.
She is survived by two daughters, Jeannette Lovette of Van Buren and Terri Hegenbart of Pottsville; a son, Kenneth Ingram of Arkadelphia; 12 grandchildren; one stepgrandchild; 17 great-grandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren.

Jerry Andrews Sr.
HEAVENER — Jerry Vick Andrews Sr., 62, of Heavener died Saturday, July 19, 2003, in Heavener. He was a retired paint contractor and cabinet maker.
Funeral will be 3 p.m. Friday at Dowden Funeral Home Chapel in Heavener with burial at Memorial Park in Heavener.
He is survived by his wife, Lenda; a daughter, Vicki Tarkenton of Spokane, Wash.; three sons, Jerry Andrews Jr. of Arlington, Texas, Len of Fort Worth, Texas, and Todd of Poteau; a sister, Bea Vaughn of Irving, Texas; a brother, Roy Andrews of Cedar Hill, Texas; and 10 grandchildren.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Linden Hopper
SMITHVILLE, Okla. — Linden “Chuck” Hopper, 65, of Smithville, Okla., died Saturday, July 19, 2003. He was born April 12, 1938, in Zafra, Okla. He was an Army veteran and a logger for Arkansas Post & Poles. He was the widower of Jeanetta Hopper.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. today at Octavia Baptist Church with burial at Pleasant Hill cemetery in Hatfield under the direction of Hall Funeral Service of Mena.
He is survived by two daughters, Kathy Hopper of Zafra, Okla., and Taffie Lowrie of Smithville, Okla.; two sons, Delbert Hopper of Cove and Dennis Hopper of Zafra, Okla.; two sisters, Trevia Hilton of Potter and Revia Bruce of Zafra, Okla.; three brothers, James Hopper of Potter, Hershel Hopper of Zafra, Okla., and Danny Hopper of Hackett; and four grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Gorden and Lloyd Self, Bill and Fred Hopper, Jock Owens, Chad Golden and Donnie Evans.

Joe Veroni
Joe J. Veroni, 87, of Fort Smith died Saturday, July 19, 2003, in a local hospital. He was retired from the state of Illinois as a toll booth supervisor and a retired real estate broker, was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Fort Smith. He was an Army veteran of World War II, receiving the Purple Heart, Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster, Good Conduct Ribbon, American Defense Service Ribbon and Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon with three bronze battle stares, Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one bronze battle star and six overseas service bars. He was a member of the Troop 112 Cavalry Association.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. today at Roebuck Chapel of the First United Methodist Church with burial at the U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Putman Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Agnes; a daughter, Denise Weakley of Fort Smith; and two grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Weakley, Bob Uhrig, David Anderson, Phil Rosar, Ken Adney and Gary Finney.

Arthur Cordry
CLARKSVILLE — Arthur R. Cordry, 67, of Clarksville died Sunday, July 20, 2003, in Clarksville. He was born Sept. 14, 1935, in Otterville, Mo. He spent 20 years in the Army and Air Force as a helicopter pilot, was a former University of the Ozarks employee and the widower of Emma Cordry.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Hardwicke Funeral Home Chapel in Clarksville with burial at Stillwell cemetery in Clarksville.
He is survived by two daughters, Linda Holland and Frances Pentzer, both of Clarksville; four brothers, Lester Cordry and David Kuebler, both of Arkansas, Gerald Cordry of Clarksville and John Kuebler of Missouri; and six grandchildren.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
