Fred Hughes
MONROE, Okla. — Fred W. Hughes, 95, of Monroe, Okla., died Thursday, April 1, 2004, in Monroe. He was born Aug. 5, 1908, in Stidham, Okla. He was a rancher, a member of Monroe Baptist Church where he was Sunday school superintendent for 25 years, a member of the Masonic Lodge, and the widower of Eva Hughes.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Monroe Baptist Church with burial at Vaughn cemetery in Gilmore, Okla. under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.
He is survived by two sons, Kelly and Tom Hughes, both of Monroe; a brother, Lowell Hughes of Roswell, N.M.; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be his Sunday school class and special close friends.
Family request that Gideons Bibles be placed in Mr. Hughes’ memory.

Norma Cristee
ALMA — Norma Cristee, 81, of Alma died Tuesday, March 30, 2004, in a local hospital. She was a homemaker, a member of Order of the Eastern Star, Melody Chapter, and the widow of Dale Cristee.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Newberry cemetery in Alma under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.
She is survived by a daughter, Gayle Millican of Van Buren; four sons, M.L. and Joe Cristee, both of Alma, Charles Nance of Arizona and Dale Cristee Jr. of Alma; two sisters, Bernice Mullen of Cedarville and Evalena Eoff of Mountainburg; several grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

David Walker
OZARK — David Walker, 48, of Ozark died Wednesday, March 31, 2004, in Ozark. He was born June 2, 1955. He was a general laborer, a Baptist and a Navy veteran.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel in Ozark with burial at Oak Ridge cemetery in Ozark.
He is survived by his wife, Patsy; a stepdaughter, Kelly Harp of Witter; a stepson, Jeffery Reeves of Wesley; his parents, J.D. Walker of Pettigrew and Dustia Potts of Huntsville; a stepsister, Elizabeth Bailey of Cane Hill; three brothers, James Walker of Ozark, Ronnie Walker of Springdale and Kevin Walker of Georgia; and four grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Ricky McKinney, Ricky Cagle, Jim Easom, Jimmy Waits and Glen Sweeden.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Thomas Warren
MANSFIELD — Thomas Austin Warren, 67, of Mansfield died Wednesday, March 31, 2004, in Fort Smith. He was a retired welder, a Baptist and a Vietnam veteran.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Coop Prairie cemetery in Mansfield under the direction of Martin Funeral Home of Mansfield.
He is survived by his wife, Modean; four daughters, Vicki Peterson of Greenwood, Kathy Grayson and Ellen Jones, both of Huntington, and Misti Vargus of Sulphur Springs, Texas; a son, Douglas Boyd of Huntington; two brothers, Lane Warren of New Castle, Ky., and Merle Rodgers of Parker, Ariz.; 21 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Jason Sheldon, Trey Langford, Johnny Turner, Andy Taylor, Ronnie Roberts and Jim Hoffman.
The body may be viewed 3 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Donnie Post
ROCK ISLAND, Okla. — Donnie Wayne Post, 37, of Rock Island, Okla., died Thursday, April 1, 2004, in a Fort Smith hospital. He was born June 23, 1966, in Fort Smith. He was employed at Post Siding & Windows and attended the Solid Rock Church in Rock Island.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Macedonia cemetery in Pocola under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.
He is survived by his wife, Angel; a daughter, Skyler Post of the home; two sons, Colby and Landon Post, both of the home; his parents, Bobby and Leta Post of Rock Island; and a sister, Kim Lomon of Rock Island.

Roger Mills
BOONEVILLE — Roger Wayne Mills, 50, of Booneville died Thursday, April, 1, 2004, in Fort Smith.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. today at Sugar Grove cemetery in Sugar Grove under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home of Booneville.
He is survived by a son, Billy Currie of Booneville; two brothers, Bobby Mills of Booneville and Donnie Mills of Washington; and three grandchildren.

Rex Bain
JOPLIN, Mo. — Rex L. Bain, 83, of Joplin, Mo., formerly of Van Buren, died Thursday, April 1, 2004, in his home. He was a member of Rena Road Church of Christ, a lifetime member of the American Legion and an Army veteran of World War II.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Monday at U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith with military honors under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
He is survived by his wife, Judy; three daughters, Janice Heinz of Burlington, Iowa, Sue Flynn of Salado, Texas, and Carla Jones of Nevada, Mo.; four sons, Daymon Barton of Vinita, Okla., Roy Bain of Redlands, Calif., Roger Bain of Nevada, Mo., and Jim Keffer of Walker, Mo.; 20 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

James Lawrence
MENA — James Franklin Lawrence, 89, of Mena died Thursday, April 1, 2004, in Mena. He was born Feb. 28, 1915, in Opal. He was a logger, a member of Bible Believers Baptist Church and the widower of Delthia Lawrence and Lizzie Lawrence.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. today at Beasley-Wood Funeral Home Chapel in Mena with burial at Pinecrest Memorial Park.
He is survived by a sister, Ailene Patterson of Henderson, Texas; two brothers, Billy Lawrence of Saginaw, Texas, and Amos Lawrence of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and two stepgrandchildren.
Pallbearers will be James Coogan, Doyle Lewis, Bill McLain, Leon Ferguson, Billy Lawrence and Jerry Gaston.

James Robison
POTEAU — James E. Robison, 77, of Poteau died Friday, April 2, 2004, in a Fort Smith hospital. He was born Dec. 5, 1926, in Heavener. He was a Navy veteran, a member of Freewill Baptist Church in Coaldale, ministered at Coaldale Freewill Baptist Church for 30 years, was a tile setter for more than 50 years and was the moderator for the Poteau River Valley Freewill Baptist Association.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at First Freewill Baptist Church in Poteau with burial at Oakland cemetery in Poteau under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.
He is survived by his wife, Madge; a daughter, Jan Mattox of Sallisaw; two grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

James Oglesby
MENA — James Curtis Oglesby, 72, of Mena died Thursday, April 1, 2004. He was born Dec. 27, 1931, in Hatfield. He was a truck driver.
The body was sent for cremation under the direction of Hall Funeral Service of Mena.
He is survived by a brother, Bob Oglesby of Mena.

Inice Durham
Inice Ballard Durham, 84, of Fort Smith died Thursday, April 1, 2004, in Fort Smith. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Downey, Calif., for 48 years, a member of Grand Avenue Baptist Church in Fort Smith and a graduate of Fort Smith High School.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Monday at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with burial at U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith.
Pallbearers will be Ed, Bill, J.T. and Don Stites, Phillip and Gary Watkins, Dick and Jess Weaver III.
The family will visit with friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Girls Shelter of Fort Smith, 2600 Raleigh St., Fort Smith, AR 72901.

Clifford Hopper
SALLISAW — Clifford “Bud” Hopper, 78, of Sallisaw died Friday, April 2, 2004, in Sallisaw. He was born Aug. 3, 1925, in Granite, Okla. He was a retired landscaper, a veteran and a Protestant.
The body was cremated under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Sallisaw.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; three daughters, Bonnie McMurtry of Sallisaw, Elizabeth McDevitt of San Antonio and Georganna Carrizalez of Altus, Okla.; two sons, Grover Hopper of Edmond, Okla., and Buddy Hopper of Sentinel, Okla.; a brother, Willis Hopper of Checotah, Okla.; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Helen Schneider
Helen Ann Schneider, 80, of Fort Smith died Thursday, April 1, 2004, in a local hospital. She was a retired seamstress from Paris Manufacturing, a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, a member of the Immaculate Conception Ladies Auxiliary and the widow of Sylvan Schneider Jr.
Rosary will be 7 p.m. Sunday at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel.
Mass will be 9:30 a.m. Monday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with a 2 p.m. graveside service at St. Benedict cemetery in Subiaco.
She is survived by two daughters, Joyce Becker and Joan Morris, both of Fort Smith; a son, Don Schneider of Mabelvale; three sisters, Lorene Komp and Dorothy Bartsch, both of Fort Smith, and Ann Everett of Seabrook, Texas; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Chuck, Bruce and Richard Becker, Doug and Mark Schneider and Thomas Morris.
Memorial contributions may be made to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, c/o of Ladies Auxiliary, P.O. Box 1866, Fort Smith, AR 72902.

Goldie Ritter
Goldie Ritter, 81, of Fort Smith died Tuesday, March 30, 2004, in a local hospital. She was a homemaker, attended the First Assembly of God in Van Buren and was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. today at Gill cemetery in Van Buren under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
She is survived by two sons, Clyde James of Greenwood and Ronnie James of Chester; a brother, Junior Reynolds of Van Buren; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.

Shirley Jean Patrick Wallace
Shirley Jean Patrick Wallace, 62, of Fort Smith died Wednesday, March 31, 2004, in her home. She was formerly of Lincoln and a graduate of Lincoln High School. She was a member of Bethlehem Freewill Baptist Church and had been a resident of Fort Smith since 1960. She was a retired cook for Cook Elementary School.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Ocker Memorial Chapel with burial at Gracelawn cemetery in Van Buren under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
She is survived by her husband, Claude Wallace of the home; two daughters, Kendra Van Horn of Fort Smith and Lorita Ray of Van Buren; her mother, Lela Patrick of Farmington; two sisters, Betty Ball of Farmington and Patricia Kelley of Prairie Grove; and five grandchildren, Tiffany Ruiz of Fort Smith, Meagan Ray, Aaron Ray and Dylan Ray, all of Van Buren, and Valerie Van Horn of Fort Smith.
Pallbearers will be Wayman White, Greg White, Mark White, John Kelley, Mark Wallace and Mark McCarver.
Memorial contributions may be made to Bethlehem Freewill Baptist Church Building Fund, 2721 Alma Blvd., Van Buren, AR 72956.

H.W. and Vanell Fronterhouse
H.W. and Vanell Fronterhouse memorial gathering will be held to celebrate their lives today from 1 to 3 p.m. at Memorial Hall in Waldron. Both were residents of Waldron for more than 40 years.
Hagan “H.W.” was taken from this life on May 1, 2003, and Vanell on Dec. 26, 2003. Their ashes are interred at U.S. National cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of donor’s choice in lieu of flowers.
