WALDRON — Opal A. Sparks, 93, of Waldron died Wednesday, April 7, 2004, in a local nursing home. She was a retired cafeteria worker for the Waldron Public Schools and a member of Winfield Baptist Church.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Winfield Baptist Church with burial at Sehorn cemetery in Winfield under the direction of Martin Funeral Home of Waldron.
She is survived by two sons, Glen Sparks of Waldron and Gerald Sparks of Hot Springs Village; a brother, Floyd Cheek of Sainger, Calif.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be James and Brian Kopf, Jimmy Stinson, Don Hambleton, Dale Suttles and Bill Sanders.
The body may be viewed 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will visit with friends from 5 to 8 p.m.
Nina Kinsey
MUSKOGEE, Okla. — Nina Kinsey, 68, of Muskogee, Okla., died Wednesday, April 7, 2004, in Muskogee. She worked for Fort Howard Paper Co. in Muskogee and was the widow of Lonnie Kinsey.
Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Mallory Funeral Home Chapel in Stigler with burial at Antioch cemetery in Stigler.
She is survived by three sons, Mike, Randy and Larry Kinsey, all of Muskogee, Okla.; four sisters, Betty Thomason of Jenks, Okla., Fern Coble of Stigler, Judy Dudero of St. Paul, Minn., and Joyce Hightower of McAlester, Okla.; four brothers, Andy Campbell of Eufaula, Okla., Roy Campbell of Stigler, Jimmy Campbell of Glenpool, Okla., and Glenn Campbell of Little Rock; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Joe Kinsey, James Bisby, Rick Moore, Steve and Benny Honeycutt, Todd Hightower and Keith Campbell.
Honorary pallbearers will be nephews.
Inez Shelby DeVito
Inez Shelby DeVito, 84, of Fort Smith entered into her eternal rest Friday, April 9, 2004, in Fort Smith. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Fort Smith, the Uplifters Sunday school class and Pacesetters. She was past president of the Pilot Club of Fort Smith and Fort Smith Pride. She was involved in Fall Festival of Flowers. In December 2002, she received Spirit of the Frontier. In July 1995, she received the Mayor’s Good Neighbor Award, and in December of 2001 and December 2002, she received the Mayor’s Appreciation Award. She also managed the Bonneville House. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Martha Graney and Mary Lou Shelby, one brother Jim Shelby, her parents McKinley and Gussie Shelby and also her grandson Kendell McClain.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at Roebuck Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at Nixon cemetery in Charleston under the direction of Fentress Mortuary of Fort Smith.
She is survived by a daughter, Nancy Jo Medlock and her husband Frank of Ozark; five sisters, Gladys Henningson and Neta Byrd, both of Fort Smith, Frances Teufel of Milwaukee, Wis., Annette Moore of Greenwood, S.C., and Nadine Schramm of New York City; two brothers, Ralph E. Shelby of Little Rock and Harry Shelby of Charleston; two grandchildren, Richard McClain of Ozark and Nanette McClain of Van Buren; four great-grandchildren, Larry Don Knight, Lance Knight, Ryan McClain, Andrew Mattoon and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be David Martin Byrd, Brent Byrd, Butch Henningson, Dr. Gene Shelby and Larry, Shelby Teufel, David Humphreys and John Reustow.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Uplifters Sunday school class.

Raymond Duane Sykes
Raymond Duane Sykes, 71, of Clarksville left this world to be with the Lord on April 10, 2004.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, his wife Shirley, his daughter Lori Ann and his sisters Reba and Cecilia.
Born Feb. 13, 1933, in Tulsa, he was the son of the late John R. Sykes and Reba H. Sykes. He was an Army veteran with three years of service during the 
Korean War and was retired from the U.S. Department of Agriculture with 33 years of service as an instructor for the Job Corps at Cass. He was a member of the American Legion and the First United Methodist Church of Clarksville.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Sykes of Clarksville; a son and daughter-in-law, John R. and Victoria Sykes of London; daughter, Donna Standridge of Russellville; stepson Richard Fanning of Shreveport, La., stepdaughter Shirla Obannon of Lamar, stepdaughter and husband Kathleen and Brian Morrow of Hartman, stepson and wife Lauren and Lois Meinert of Monroe, Wis., stepson and wife Steve and Carol Meinert of Lavaca, and stepson Fred L. Meinert of Eau Claire, Wis.; sister Marilyn Wyatt of Fort Smith, brother and sister-in-law Shirley and Herman C. Johnston of Shreveport, La., sister Marilyn Watt of Fort Smith, brother and sister-in-law Frankie and Joanne Sykes of Heavener, brother Koen Sykes of El Dorado Hills, Calif., and sister Marynelle Pennington of Heavener; six grandchildren, one great-grandson, 11 step-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church in Clarskville, officiated by the Rev. Steve Wingo. Burial will be at Oakland cemetery in Clarksville under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home of Clarksville.
Pallbearers will be Guy Frix, Frank Deeds, Jimmy Funderburg, Floyd Pledger, Red Wilder and Scott Trujillo.
Honorary pallbearers will be Johnny Hall, Bill Accord and Jack Cecil.

Flora Madeline DeViney, 66, of Fort Smith died Friday, April 9, 2004, in a local hospital. She was born Nov. 8, 1938, in Spiro.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Monday at the chapel of Fentress Mortuary in Fort Smith with burial at New Hope cemetery in Spiro.
She is survived by a daughter, Lisa Smith of Fort Smith; a son, Gary DeViney of Fort Smith; and one grandchild.

James Clark
BOONEVILLE — James Rodney Clark, 96, of Booneville died Friday, April 9, 2004, in Booneville. He was a house painter and attended the First Baptist Church of Booneville.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Roberts Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Booneville with burial at Oak Hill cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Catherine Clark; a daughter, Carol Clark of Fort Smith; four sons, Millard and Phillip Clark, both of Little Rock, Robert Clark of Shawnee, Okla., and Charles Clark of Pine Bluff; a sister, Emma Higgins of Forrest City; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Mary Gray
ALMA — Mary M. Gray, 82, of Alma died Saturday, April 10, 2004, in a local hospital. She was a homemaker, a member of the Alma First Baptist Church and the widow of Malcolm Gray.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church in Alma with private burial at the U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Alma.
She is survived by four daughters, Ann Byars of Fort Smith, Mary Douglas of Alma and Francie Douglas and Debbie Ray, both of Mountain Home; a son, Malcolm Gray Jr. of Alma; 14 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
The family will visit with friends from 4 to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Katherine Joslin
Katherine Joslin, 82, of Van Buren died Saturday, April 10, 2004, in a local hospital. She was retired from Hickory Springs Manufacturing Co. and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Catcher Freewill Baptist Church and the widow of William E. Joslin.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Catcher Freewill Baptist Church with burial at Gill cemetery under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
She is survived by three daughters, Virginia Peterman of Yukon, Okla., Sadie Beagle of Van Buren and Katherine Williams of Eufaula, Okla.; two sons, James Joslin of Mulberry and Jimmy Joslin of Van Buren; a sister, Gertrude Yakley of Kibler; a brother, Charles Rigensberg of Pittsburg, Kan.; 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and two geat-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Don Hutchins, Tim Beagle, Dustin Joslin and David, Samuel and Johnathon Peterman.

David Allen Jennings Sr., 67, of Fort Smith died Thursday, April 8, 2004, in North Little Rock. He was a truck driver for C. Bean Trucking Co.
Memorial service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Putman Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith. The body will be cremated.
He is survived by four sons, David Jennings Jr. and James, George and Marvin Jennings, all of Fort Smith; two sisters, Nancy Brown of Tucson, Ariz., and Sheila Sutton of Del Rio, Texas; a brother, James Jennings of Lee Vining, Calif.; and three grandchildren.

Gian Le, 39, of Fort Smith died Friday, April 9, 2004, in his home. He was a factory worker for Moll Plastics and a Buddhist.
Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Putman Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith. The body will be cremated.
He is survived by his parents, Khanh Le and De Luong of Vietnam; seven sisters, Tam Le of Fort Smith and Le, Diep, Lan, Tuyet, Lien and Tuyen Le, all of Vietnam; and a brother, Hung Le of California.
Carter Camp
Carter Camp, 78, of Fort Smith, formerly of Napa, Calif., passed away Sunday, April 4, 2004, in a local hospital. He was born Aug. 20, 1925, in San Francisco. He was an Army veteran and had worked as a boilermaker at Kaiser Steel in Napa, Calif.
He is survived by his wife, Naidell Camp of Fort Smith; stepson, Darrel Anderson and wife, Connie of Fort Smith; daughters, Angela Camp and Leanora Wilson, both of Napa, Calif.; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Cremation was handled under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home with burial of cremains at U.S. National cemetery.
Flora Madeline DeViney
Flora Madeline DeViney, 66, of Fort Smith passed away Friday, April 9, 2004, in a local hospital. She was born Nov. 8, 1938, in Spiro.
She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Smith and husband, Lonnie of Fort Smith; a son, Gary DeViney of Fort Smith; nieces, Melissa Rust of Little Rock, Sheri Hunter of Little Rock and Robyn Hunter of Boston; and one grandson, Matthew Smith of Fort Smith.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Monday, April 12, 2004, at the chapel of Fentress Mortuary. Interment will be at New Hope cemetery in Spiro under the direction of Fentress Mortuary.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home.
Eugene Bell
Gene Bell, 74, of Fort Smith, formerly of London, died Thursday, April 8, 2004, in a Fort Smith hospital. He was born Sept. 5, 1929, at Mill Creek community. He was a retired cook.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Monday at Booher cemetery under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service of Russellville.
He is survived by a brother, Bob Bell of London; a sister, Norma Heflin of Russellville.
James Douglas
CHARLESTON — James C. Douglas, 66, of Charleston died Thursday, April 8, 2004, in Charleston. He was born Dec. 18, 1937, in Charleston. He was retired maintenance from Clarmont Colleges in Clarmont, Calif., an Army veteran, a member of the National Guard and attended First Freewill Baptist Church in Charleston.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Smith Mortuary Chapel in Charleston with burial at Nixon cemetery in Charleston.
He is survived by his wife, Billie; three daughters, Zona Merchant of Hoover, Ala., Brenda Bannon of Kitchener, Ontario, Canada, and Donna Provost of Santee, Calif.; three sons, Bobby and James Douglas, both of Van Buren, and Timothy Douglas of Charleston; a sister, Janie Stewart of Bloomington, Calif.; three brothers, Earl Douglas of Delta, Colo., Paul Douglas of Fort Smith and Johnny Douglas of Charleston; 20 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Forest Sharp, Virgil Faires, Tom Tusing, Doye Wagner, Bill Bagwell and Cotton Ramsey.
Marie Moore
PARIS — Marie Moore, 84, of Paris died Thursday, April 8, 2004, in Paris. She was born Sept. 9, 1919, in Coal Hill. She was a retired waitress.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. today at McVay cemetery in Carbon City under the direction of Smith Mortuary of Charleston.
She is survived by a daughter, Candace Jackson of Midway; two sons, Joseph Moore of Russellville and Pat Moore of Carbon City; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
