George Conley
George Conley, 77, of Fort Smith died Sunday, April 18, 2004, in Fort Smith. He was born May 22, 1926, in Long, Okla. He was a retired service station owner, independent truck driver, dump truck driver, worked for Mercury Motors, was a Navy veteran of World War II, past commander and member of Sebastian County Mounted Patrol, a member of First Freewill Baptist Church and the widower of Esther Conley.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at Speegle cemetery in Bloomer.
He is survived by a daughter, Robin Byars of Fulton, Ky.; two sons, Mike Conley of Van Buren and Joseph Conley of Fort Smith; a sister, Rosie Moon of Tulsa; and three grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Tim and Tommy Bufkin, Billy and Dale Conley, Tom Gamble and Robert Jones.

Sheri Earnhart
Sheri Susanne Earnhart, 47, of Van Buren died Monday, April 19, 2004, in a local hospital.
Memorial service will be 3 p.m. Friday at Ocker Memorial Chapel in Van Buren.
She is survived by a daughter, Christina Earnhart of Van Buren; two brothers, Zachary Earnhart of North Little Rock and Kristopher Earnhart of Van Buren.
Clazina Punt
DOWLING PARK, Fla. — Clazina Johanna Punt, 100, of Dowling Park, Fla., formerly of Fort Smith, died Friday, April, 16, 2004, in Dowling Park. She taught for Fort Smith Public Schools and was a missionary in the Congo and the widow of the Rev. Harry Punt.
Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, May 1 in the chapel of Advent Christian Village in Dowling Park. Burial will be at Bixler Memorial Gardens in Dowling Park under the direction of Culley’s MeadowWood Funeral Home of Tallahassee, Fla.
She is survived by a daughter, Marina Raye of Penrose, Colo.; a son, Leonard Punt of Westmont, Ill.; five grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

STIGLER — James “Greg” Coble, 44, of Stigler died Monday, April 19, 2004, in a local hospital. He was a 1978 graduate of Stigler High School.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Antioch Baptist Church with burial at Antioch cemetery in Stigler under the direction of King & Shearwood Funeral Home of Stigler.
He is survived by his parents, James Coble and Judy of Stigler; two brothers, Stephen Coble of Broken Arrow and Bryan Coble of Tamaha, Okla.
Pallbearers will be Mike Bracken, Tommy Sloan, Terry Warren, David Dillon, Tony Shelton and Pat Concidine.
The body may be viewed from 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to noon Thursday.
Walter Brailey
Walter M. Brailey, 80, of Fort Smith died Monday, April 19, 2004, in a local hospital. He was a Navy and Army veteran, of World War II and the 
Korean War and retired from Whirlpool Corp.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Putman Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at U.S. National cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Sue; two daughters, Cheryl Coward and Cindy Mork, both of Fort Smith; a son, Mark Brailey of Fort Smith; and five grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Johnny Bishop, Bobby Jarrell, Billy Hufstetler, Mike Weiche and Doug and Dennis Schoenfeld.

CHOCTAW, Okla. — Ellie Marie Monks, 77, of Choctaw died Monday, April 19, 2004, in Oklahoma City. She was retired from AT&T.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Milton cemetery in McCurtain, Okla., under the direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral Home of Stigler.
She is survived by a daugther, Diann Mach of Yukon, Okla.; a son, Richard Monks of Choctaw; and four grandchildren.
Katherine Boyd
TULSA — Katherine Stephens Boyd, 94, of Tulsa, formerly of Sallisaw, died Monday, April 19, 2004, in Tulsa. She was born Aug. 30, 1909, in Sequoyah County. She was a homemaker, a member of Disciples of Christ in Joplin, Mo., and the widow of William Boyd.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. today at Agent Funeral Home Chapel in Sallisaw with burial at Sallisaw City cemetery.
She is survived by one sister, Maxine Pilant of Tulsa; three brothers, Herman Stephens of Sallisaw, J.D. Stephens of Muskogee and Sterling Stephens of Tulsa.
The body may be viewed from 9 a.m. to noon today at the funeral home.
Arthur Russell
CLARKSVILLE — Arthur Franklin Russell, 71, died Tuesday, April 20, 2004, in a local hospital. He was retired from River Valley By-Products, was Johnson County chief deputy sheriff, a truck driver, former owner of Fiberglass Craft and Marina, a 32nd degree Mason, former president of the Clarksville Coon Hunters Association and a member of the Johnson County Bass Club.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Roller-Cox Chapel in Clarksville with burial at Woodland cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia; two daughters, Debbi Fann of Raytown, Mo., and Tanya Berg of Lamar; two sons, Steve Russell of Clarksville and Danny Russell of Crossville, Ala.; two sisters, Joyce Harbert of Waxahachie, Texas, and Velma Shaw of Gurdon; eight grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Travis Fetters, Tim Mooney, Jamon Abercrombie, Matthew Fann, Todd Russell and Steve Fetters.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
John Robert Burns
John Robert Burns, 52, died April 11, 2004, at his home in Fort Smith. He was born June 8, 1951, in Pine Bluff, a son of the late Homer and Rubye Gilkey Burns.
He served his country in the United States Army from December 1971 through December 1974, received an honorable discharge and re-enlisted in March of 1979 and served through September 1983. He served in the Vietname War as an airborne/ranger in the 3rd Battalion 75th Infantry. He received the U.S. Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Army Expeditionary Forces Medal, the Vietnamese Service Medal, RVN Gallantry Cross with Palm, the RVN Campaign Medal, Airborne Wings, Combat Infantryman’s Badge and the Army Meritorious Citation. Upon returning to the United States, he served as an EMTA in Clarksville and received an associate of applied science degree in law enforcement. He finished his career by serving the city of Fort Smith as a police officer until his medical retirement in 1992.
Cremation services are by Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith. Burial will be at the Arkansas State Veterans cemetery in North Little Rock.
Memorial service will be 1 p.m. Friday, April 23, 2004, at Fort Smith National cemetery Pavilion under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
Survivors are a sister, Sandra “Sandy” Moix and her husband, Alan of Conway; a brother, Jim Burns; a stepbrother, Harry Burns of Norfolk, Va.; nephews Shawn and Cory Moix of Conway and Samuel Burns of North Little Rock; and his beloved cocker spaniel, Corky.
Honorary pallbearers are the United States Army personnel and the city of Fort Smith Police Department personnel.

John E. Chamberlin
John E. Chamberlin, 86, of Fort Smith passed away on Monday, April 19, 2004, at St. Edward Mercy Medical Center surrounded by members of his family. On the other side, his wife of 57 years, who died in 2000, awaited him. As a young man, he served his country with honor as a horse cavalry sergeant major and infantry first sergeant during World War II and an artillery master sergeant during the
Korean War and was a father figure to men under his command. He was a member of Goddard United Methodist Church for more than 40 years. He and his wife served as youth counselors for the youth fellowship. He was also PTA president, Scoutmaster and Cub master in Clarksville. He was elected county auditor of Humboldt County, Iowa, the county of his birth. As manager of hatcheries in Clarksville for Prebo and Sons and later in Fort Smith for OK Foods, he inspired his employees by example to work hard and still have a good time. He loved to go fishing with his buddies and to watch baseball. He was not only respected, but enjoyed and loved by family, friends, employees, neighbors and all those whose lives he touched. He will be sadly missed and gratefully remembered by all those who love him.
Funeral service will be noon April today at Goddard United Methodist Church with burial at the U.S. National cemetery under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
He is survived by his two sons: John G. Chamberlin and his wife, Shannon, of Little Rock and Charles E. Chamberlin and wife, Susan, of Arcata Calif; one brother: Alden M. Chamberlin of Monroe, Iowa; five grandchildren: Katharyn Daniel of Loveland, Colo., Mary Chamberlin of Little Rock, Johnnie Chamberlin of Little Rock, Sarah Chamberlin of Arcata, Calif., and Matthew Chamberlin of Los Angeles; one great-grandchild: Lorelai Daniel; and by his extended family, his newest daughter, Maria Sidorenko, an international exchange student from Russia; Jim and Caye Hurt; and others not too many to love but too numerous to mention.
Pallbearers will be Larry Gordon, William May, Gerald Geren, Guy Smith, David Blount and Tommy Fowler.
Honorary pallbearers will be Sam Brown, Ragon Call, Lloyd Conrady, Glynn Shults and Bill Larsen.
The family will visit with friends after the interment today at 2900 S. 39th St., Fort Smith.

Walter M. Brailey
Walter M. Brailey, 80, of Fort Smith died Monday, April 19, 2004, in a local hospital. He was a retired veteran of World War II, serving as a Navy seaman on the aircraft carrier Ticonderoga in 1943, the Shangrila in 1944 and the Belleau Wood in 1945. He served in the
Korean War from 1951 to 1953, serving in the Army, 1st Calvary Division. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He attended military police school in Augusta, Ga., after returning to the states. He retired from Whirlpool Corp in 1989.

He is survived by his wife, Sue Brailey of the home; two daughters, Cheryl Coward and her husband, Gary of Fort Smith and Cindy Mork of Fort Smith; one son, Mark Brailey of Fort Smith; grandchildren, Dylan Mork, Cassie Wilson, Allison Brailey, Chelsea Brailey and Logan Coward.

Ardie Cullen, 34, of Stillwater, Okla., died April 19, 2004, in Stillwater. She was a homemaker and a student at Oklahoma State University.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday, April 24, 2004, at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with burial at Oak Bower cemetery near Mulberry under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.
She is survived by three daughters, Ashley Nicole Cullen, Meagan Elizabeth Cullen and Lindsey Marie Cullen, all of the home; two nephews, Michael Dalton and Peter Sayaphongsy, both of the home; her mother, Donnie Dalton of Murfreesboro; her father, Rusty Allen of Mineral Springs; and a sister Jamie Dalton of Fort Smith. She also is survived by four nephews and a number of aunts, uncles and cousins.

Brian Cullen
Brian Cullen, 30, of Stillwater, Okla., died April 19, 2004, in Stillwater. He was a student at Northeast Oklahoma State University and an avid hunter.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday, April 24, 2004, at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with burial at Oak Bower cemetery north of Mulberry under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.
He is survived by three daughters, Ashley Nicole Cullen, Meagan Elizabeth Cullen and Lindsey Marie Cullen, all of the home; two nephews, Michael Dalton and Peter Sayaphongsy, both of the home; his mother and stepfather, Glenda and Leon Schuster of Spiro; his father and stepmother, David and Linda Cullen of Branson, Mo.; paternal grandparents, Samuel and Sue Bryan of Alma; maternal grandmother, Lavada Isaacs of Alma; two sisters, Amy Ramos of Heavener and April North of Muldrow; and two brothers, Mark Cullen of Barling and Darrick Alvarado of Spiro.

August June Edwards
August June Edwards, 68, of Sallisaw died Tuesday, April 20, 2004, in Sallisaw. He was born June 24, 1935, in Sadie, Okla. He was a retired maintenance mechanic at Holley Carburetor, member of Eastside Baptist Church in Sallisaw, a lifelong resident of Sallisaw and 1956 graduate of Sallisaw High School, where he won the Tri State Wrestling Championship in 1953. His four sons followed in his footsteps, also wrestling for Sallisaw High School. August was an avid sportsman, enjoying fishing and hunting. He loved aviation and at one time, owned and piloted both Taylor craft and Stinson airplanes. He served his country in the Army Reserves for eight years during the Vietname War.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. today at Eastside Baptist Church in Sallisaw with burial at Sallisaw City cemetery under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Sallisaw.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Bernell of the home; two daughters, Pamela Edwards of Tulsa and Angela Rodriguez of Fort Smith; four sons and three daughters-in-law, August DeWayne and Metzi Edwards of Siloam Springs, Shaloa Edwards of Sallisaw, Kendall and Shawna Edwards of Tulsa and Darren and Stacey Edwards of Centerton; 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Vernon and Waynette Edwards of Sallisaw and Donnie and Norma Edwards of Owasso, Okla.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Lonnie Joe Edwards.
Pallbearers will be DeWayne, Darren, Kendall, Shaloa and grandson, Brent.
