Robert E. Bailey Sr.

CHERRY VALLEY -- Robert E. Bailey Sr., 79, of Cherry Valley died Friday, June 10, at St. Bernard's Medical Center.

Born at Memphis, he was a World War II Navy veteran and a project analyst for the Army, retiring after 30 years of service. He moved to Cross County in 1983 and was a member of First United Methodist Church of Cherry Valley.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Jean Orbison Bailey of the home; a son, Robert E. Bailey Jr. of Coronado, Calif.; a daughter, the Rev. Fay Ellen Lundin of Washington, D.C.; two sisters, Sylvia Willis of Bedford, Texas and Natalie Keefe of Ballwin, Mo.; and a grandchild.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Lee Polk; and his parents, Ross E. and Leola Speck Bailey.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Kernodle Funeral Home. Burial will be in Memorial Park at Memphis.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 41, Cherry Valley 72324.

Patricia Ann Hatcher

LEPANTO -- Patricia Ann Hatcher, 66, of Lepanto died Saturday, June 11, at Rose Care Center of Trumann.

A homemaker, she was a member of First Baptist Church of Lepanto.

Survivors include two sons, Gerald Hatcher of Bloomington, Ind., and Eddie Hatcher of Lepanto; four sisters, Sue Pepper of Avon, Ind., Bev Wells of Nashville, Ind., and Reda Brosius and Mary Jo Humble, both of Indianapolis; three brothers, John Humble of Greenwood, Ind., and Jim Humble and Matthew Humble, both of Indianapolis; two grandchildren, Holly Hatcher and Tommy Hatcher; and two stepgrandchildren, Leslie Hall and Allen Hall.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Hatcher.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Murphy Funeral Home, with Jim Duffel officiating. Burial will be in Potter Memorial Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be David Turner, Duane Turner, Doug Turner, Bobby Don Turner, Damon Tyler and Keith Tyler.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Lois R. Panneck

JONESBORO -- Lois R. Panneck, 90, of Jonesboro died Saturday, June 11, at her residence. Arrangements will be announced by Langford-Bookout Funeral Home.

Ralph Dean Poole

ST. FRANCIS -- Ralph Dean Poole, 90, of St. Francis died Friday, June 10, at his residence.

He was born at Guy.

Survivors include his wife, Edith L. Poole; two sons, Dean Poole of Pocahontas and Max Poole of Piggott; two daughters, Jane Hinkle of Piggott and Julia Crews of Florida; two brothers, Bonner Poole of Malakoff, Texas, and Ray Poole of Troy, Mo.; two sisters, Bronnie Parton of Malakoff and Vernice Wyatt of Lakeland, Fla.; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James O. and Norma L. Rowlett Poole, one brother, one sister and one grandson.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott, with the Rev. Kevin Murray officiating. Burial will be in Piggott Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Ed Morris, Rick Haywood, Charley Cook, Vance Whaley, Neil Cluck and Delbert Hughes.

Honorary pallbearers will include Taylor Crawley, Wade Poole, Barry Whaley, Colton Poole, Alex Wicker, John Scheffler and Jerry McKinnie.

Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Bertha Pyburn

LESTER -- Bertha E. Pyburn, 91, of the Lester community died Friday, June 10.

Born in Peach Orchard, she was a homemaker and owned and operated a grocery store for several years in Lester. She was of the Assembly of God belief.

Survivors include three sons, Fred Pyburn of Lake City and Bob Pyburn and Tom Pyburn, both of Lester; a daughter, Esther Williams of Lake City; 10 grandchildren, Dewayne Pyburn, Jerry Jones, Ronnie Pyburn, Linda Jones, Larry Pyburn, Lisa Hogue, Michael Pyburn, Tim Pyburn, Kevin Pyburn and Beverly Pyburn; 19 great-grandchildren; and six great great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymon Pyburn; a granddaughter; Sha-ron Jones; a brother; a foster brother; and a sister.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Emerson Funeral Home Chapel in Lake City with the Rev. Starley Baker and the Rev. Anthony Hogue officiating. Burial will follow in Pruitt Cemetery near Paragould.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to St. Bernard's Hospice Program, 2813 Forest Home Road, Jonesboro, 72401.

Edith Rainwater

PARAGOULD -- Edith Rainwater, 95, of Paragould died Saturday, June 11, at her residence.

Born at Herman, she lived in Trumann and Jonesboro before moving to Paragould three years ago. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist belief.

Survivors include a daughter, Imogene Boren of Paragould; four grandchildren, Robin Patterson of Jonesboro and Linda Woods, Steve Jordan and Danny Jordan, all of Paragould; four great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Garland Rainwater, a grandson and a great-grandson.

Graveside services will be at noon Monday in Nettleton Cemetery, with Joey McFadden officiating. Emerson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangement.

Pallbearers will be Steve Jordan, Danny Jordan and Josh Robbins.

Visitation will be from 9:30-11:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Fairy Mitchell Chappell

BLYTHEVILLE -- Fairy Mitchell Chappell, 90, of Blytheville died Monday, June 27, at South Mississippi County Regional Medical Center at Osceola.

Born in Arkadelphia, she was a longtime resident of Mississippi County, a homemaker and a member of New Bethel Baptist Church in Blytheville, where she served on the mother board.

Survivors include two daughters, Glory D. Chappell of Los Angeles and Fairy Adams of Blytheville; six sons, William Henry Chappell and Willie Rich Chappell, both of Lansing, Mich., John Allen Chappell, Ross Earl Chappell and Lorenzo Chappell, all of Los Angeles, and Charles Edward Chappell of Kansas City, Kan.; three sisters, Irene Mitchell of Woodford, Texas, Callie Helms of Arkadelphia and Mattie Mae Wilson of Lansing; a brother, Ecker Mitchell of Woodford; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Lee Chappell, and her parents, Henry Mitchell and Mattie Mitchell.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at New Bethel Baptist Church, with the Rev. Johnny Lee Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Whiteside Cemetery at Osceola under the direction of Wilson Funeral Home of Blytheville.

Pallbearers will be Gregory Chappell, Larry Chappell, Ed Willie Chappell Jr., Albert Lee Chappell, Clarence Chappell, Eddie Chappell and Cleveland Chappell.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Billy Clarence Hazelwood

JONESBORO -- Graveside services for Billy Clarence Hazelwood, 50, of Jonesboro, who died Thursday, June 30, at St. Bernard's Medical Center, will be at 10 a.m. today in Pine Log Cemetery near Brookland.

The Rev. Ted Medlock will officiate, and burial will be under the direction of Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home.

Survivors not previously listed include a son, Marty Lee Perry of Jonesboro; a daughter, Joanna Payton of Jonesboro; and his mother and father, Joyce Hazelwood McCormick of Imboden and Clarence Jasper Hazelwood of Jonesboro.

Mary Alice Hunt

OSCEOLA -- Mary Alice Hunt, 70, of Osceola died Monday, June 27, at her residence.

Born in Tunica, Miss., she was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church in Lepanto.

Survivors include two daughters, Erma Lee Thompson of Milwaukee and Sarah Laverne Wiley of West Memphis; two sons, Luther Leon Brown of Birmingham, Ala., and Jerry Louis Brown of Osceola; two sisters, Arthella McRay and Lillie Mae Lambert of Milwaukee; 16 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. today at First Baptist Church of Lepanto. Burial will follow in Pine Rest Cemetery at Lepanto under the direction of Wilson Funeral Home of Osceola.
